  • Migrating HP SIM related databases to a new database server

    Greetings,
I'm working on a migration task for our HP SIM to a new database server (the application and services will reside on the original server).
Migrating the Insight_v50_0_xxx database and redirecting the server to point the the new database was no problem and HP SIM runs along just fine.
There are still some related databases that I haven't moved yet, and I've searched all over the web to get some documentation on the matter, but found none.
The databases and related services are the following.
    PMP_V5_0  - PMP Services
    hpvmmsqldb - Virtual Machine Management
I guess I could do like I did with the  Insight_v50_0_xxx , take a backup and restore it on the new server and then change the configuration files to point to the new one. The big issue is that I can't seem to find any configuration files for these services.
Also I've run into something called mx services, and the same here. I have no idea where these points.
Any HP SIM savvy technician out there that think they can help me out?
    1. Product: HP SIM and related services
    2. Operating System: Windows Server 2008 R2
    Best regards,
    Karl

Old topic but in case someone is searching...
PMP database uses an ODBC connection. Easy to reconfigure.
HPVMMDB uses a JDBC configuration file in the \Program Files\HP\Insight Control Virtual Machine Management\Bin folder called hpvmmdb.conf.

  • Problem in Creating a new database in Oracle 9i

I have installed Oracle 9i for Windows successfully. Now when I try to create a new database either using the Database Configuration Assistant or using the script generated by the Assistant, I get an error message that DATABASE NOT OPEN. So the database will not be created. Please help in this regard, so that I can create a database and I can start working on Oracle 9i.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kiran

    Hi DENIS,
I have executed the following commands (which are in a script file),
    1. sqlplus /nolog
    2. connect sys/change_on_install as sysdba
    3. create database ...
    4. ...
When I execute the 3rd command, I get an error message as "ORACLE TERMINATED FORCED" and it will end the session. So when the next set of commands in the script are executed, I got the error saying "DATABASE NOT OPEN".
    How to rectify this problem.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Installing 9iAS on the database server

Is it OK, if I install 9iAS on the same server, where the 9i database has been installed? If I install 9iAS on the same server, then many of the services get duplicated (as it requires different home), like TNS listner, intelligent agent, HTTP server, Management server etc. Also default home itelligent agent service doesn't start after 9iAS installation.
OR should I install 9iAS on another machine?
    -Yogesh

As long as Oracle9iAS and Oracle DB are in two different Oracle Homes, it is possible to have this coexistance of these Oracle products. Infact, this is true for any other Oracle product and Oracle9iAS. This is true for any platform.
Further, in Release 2, 9.0.2 version, we are supporting Oracle9i Application Server (J2EE and Web Cache, Portal and Wireless, BI and Forms, UM install types), Oracle9iAS and Oracle9iDS Release 2 can be installed into same Oracle Home.

Does your server have an out-of-band management console?  Those can generally mount virtual media that is simply a file residing on the machine you are using to connect to the console.
Another option is to use USB -

  • Problems installing OSX Lion - new Mac Mini 2011

    Hi!
I'm having major problem with my brand new Mac Mini.
I wanted to upgrade it right away after reading so many succeful upgrading reports on various forums so I bought a 120GB Intel 320 SSD disk and 2x4 GB of Kingston 1333mhz ram. I swapped the drives right away and idiotically used to original drive in a case to create an external installation USB-drive (my 4GB USB drives didn't work).
I then created a bootable USB-disk with the external original drive and tried to install but only get the circle with slash after selecting the drive in the "options" menu. If I remove the USB-drive I get a flashing folder icon. If start holding down Command + S I get a message saying that the "version of OSX is not supported on this platform".
I also tried using the Recovery Assistant HD to create a bootable recovery tool but that gives the same results.
    In short:
I can't install OSX Lion on a brand new Mac Mini with upgraded HD and Ram. I don't have the original installation anymore.
    Am I out of luck?

Internet Recovery solved this problem. Option+Command+R.

  • Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit

Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:
    Program: ...
    File: ../../../src/share/native/sun/font/t2k/t2kstrm.c
    Line: 132
    Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Just to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Problems installing windows on new retina macbook pro

Hi i am having problems installing windows on the latest retina macbook pro, I end up getting an error , cant install windows on this GPT partition style. I have tried booting into windows , and EFI, but it all ends up with the same error. Please HELP.

Did you use Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive? If you want both Windows and Mac OS X on your Mac that is what you have to do.
If you only want Windows then you can install it by itself but you have to delete all partitions on the drive and format it NTSF from inside the Windows installer or a third party Disk Management/Partitioning/Formatting program.

    Hi Matt.
You did the right thing adding the driver to the weblogic.class.path.
That's where it should be, not in the java.class.path. The current
licensing issue is that the weblogic server has(had?) it's own copy of
WebLogicLicense.xml, containing the server licenses. The one from thedriver
is now in the path. It contains the driver license, but not the server
stuff. Edit the server one, adding the guts of the driver one, and
delete the driver xml license file from your path.
