Problem installing Final Cut Pro Studio 5

When i install Final Cut Studio (w/Admin account) and type the correct Serial number i receive the next Error: "Licensing Error: The license file will not be written to disk because the user does not have enough privileges."
I yet use the disk utility with "First Aid/Repair permission".

You won't find any help at tech support ... other than telling you the facts: Intel processor Macs require FCP 5.1 or higher. FCP 5.0 and earlier were written for PowerPC processor Macs, long before Apple switched to using Intel processors.
And then there's the issue of the OS. OS 7 will allow FCP 7 (and sometimes even FCP 6) to work OK, but versions earlier than that have spotty operation on Lion.
Here's a brief history of full FCP versions and recommended OS compatibility:

FCP 3.0*       OS 9, OS 10.1, OS 10.2

Essentially, you have a newer Intel processor Mac with a new OS and very old, incompatible software.   You might be able to find a used version of Final Cut Studio 3 on sites like ebay or craigslist as it is no longer offered by Apple as an upgrade.
Alternatively, you could purchase and download FCP-X, but it is an entirely different application, sharing virtually nothing with previous versions of FCP.

New MacBook Pro 7.1 doesn't install final cut pro studio

I bought a new macbook pro 13' last week. When I tried to install the final cut pro studio, an alert window popped up saying that my mackbook doesn't have the required hardware to support the final cut pro. Can any one please help me on that?

FCP 5.0.4 is not compatible with Intel Macs.
If you have that version, then you need to upgrade to FC Studio 3, which is compatible with Intel Macs.
FCP 5.1.4 is compatible, but you'll need at least FCP 6.0.x to run with Snow Leopard.
Expect to pay about $250.00 for the upgrade if you shop.

I have just installed DVD Studio Pro 4 on Lion, and I ended up with the Content data installed in ‘/Library/Application Support’, which I am not sure is correct, as the program is not listing any preset styles etc. I copied it to ‘~/Library/Application Support’ and it still can’t be seen by the program. Any ideas on this?

Final Cut Pro Studio 2 Install

Hello I purchased my G4 Dual 1.25 Ghz with 1GB of memory about a year ago. It had installed Final Cut Pro Studio 1 (FCP 5) at the time with all the other programs. Recently after I upgraded my Quicktime to 7.6 My DVD Studio Pro stopped working. After much trying and advice I re-installed my OS Leopard that I purchased about 6 months ago and lost all my serial numbers for all the programs, (FCP, DVD Studio, Soundtrack etc.) So now I would like to purchase Final Cut Pro Studio 2 (educational version) and I am told I will have to have serial numbers for Final Cut Pro Studio 1 because this is an upgrade. How can I install FCP Studio 2 with out any previous serial numbers? Please any help would be greatly appreciated, I work with the elderly and we have several projects we are working on together and I really need to get back up and running. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

I installed final cut pro studio a few months ago but my mac then had to go in for repair. I have since had it back but when trying to run any of the studio applications, when asked to enter my serial number again it says it cannot run application as licensing data is corrupt.

If it was my mac, I'd archive anything of importance to another drive or cd's or data dvd's, then do a complete erase and install of everything, starting with the OS.
Install OS, run the updates, install applications, run the updates. Repair permissions and reboot after every installation. You'll be stunned at how spiffy your machine will then be.
You can search this forum for how to just trash the corrupt licensing data. But personally, I wouldn't do that. FWIW.

Problem installing Final Cut Studio 2 on MacBook Pro

I'm trying to install Final Cut Studio 2 on a MacBook Pro / Snow Leopard but when it comes to choosing install options Final Cut Pro is greyed out and just says skip.
I've done some research and found people with the same problem but none of the fixes I've seen have worked. I also have Logic Pro installed - which I installed first - which seems to be causing the problem. I've tried removing Logic but am still seeing the same problem.
Besides a clean install does anyone have any suggestions?

You are trying to use software that is over 10 years old. As I read it, FCP 3.0.2 required 10.1 or higher at the time, but as FCP is reliant on quicktime, which has been updated many, many times, I doubt that you will ever get it to work properly.

FCE was discontinued nearly 3 years ago and is no longer supported.
I don't know whether it's possible to install it on Mavericks and if you do it may not perform properly.
Final Cut pro X and iMovie are the only Apple apps that are supported.

Problems after installing Final Cut Pro X

I have had a few problems with Final Cut Pro X. Up untill a week ago it worked smooth and fast. I have off the equipment I need on my computer to run the program and tons of RAM. I recently was running low on disk space and cleared that as well. My FCPX will not respond now when I open it. I hide all my event and projects in other folders and placed one by one, and nothing happend. I reset all preferences and nothing happened. I took the final step and removed the program from my computer and re installed and the same problem is accuring. NO problems. Uprade to Lion... No Problems.

Hey Fellow iPeps., My name is Jonathan and I have a rathe complex issue infront of me. First, let me state that I am by no means a Mac sorta guy. I am in the transition stage where some things in that mac world just make no sense to me. Okay, I am trying to install Final Cut Pro 5 onto my new iMac 27inch unit and keep getting an error msg that reads, Your computer does not have the right hardware.... you know, I have tried installing it on my macbook pro as well... Final Cut Pro 5 is NOT compatible with Intel processor Macs. You need version 5.1 or higher. The current version is FCP 7, which is only available as part of Final Cut Studio 2009 (aka FCS 3).

Final Cut Pro Studio and ProKit 7 conflict

Hi,
I've been trying to find a solution to a problem I've had with FCP Studio but can't seem to find one. Since running a software upgrade on my Mac Pro 2008 running 10.6.8, I can't seem to get DVD Studio Pro 4, Motion 4 and a few other parts of FCP Studio 7 to open. They crash instantly on opening and the only solution I have found is replacing ProKit 7, in the system, with an older ProKit 5.1. This works but then knocks out the ability to run some newer Apple apps. I'm running an identical system on a MacBook Pro 2011 and everything seems to run perfectly fine on ProKit 7 so wonder why the Mac Pro can't do the same. I've tried installing ProKit 5 and updating up to version 7, and also tried copying a copy of ProKit 7 from the working MacBook Pro system both without success. Does anyone know of any solution to get all my older FCP Studio apps and new Apple apps to run on the latest ProKit 7 on the Mac Pro? Is there perhaps something else in conflict with the apps?

Hi everyone,
Just an update on this problem. I've now resolved it, by luck more then anything!
I was rebuilding another Mac and noticed the exact point the same issue occurred so now know what the cause is, and it's such a simple but strange solution!
During the process of decluttering my system of none essential file (well I thought they were non essential!) I removed a particular file which seems to be needed by the Final Cut Pro Studio apps. This file is in the root System folder (System/Library/Colorsync/Profiles). Make sure you have "Generic Gray Gamma 2.2 Profile.icc"
in the folder or this will cause DVD Studio Pro, Motion4, CinemaTools and a few other Pro apps to unexpectedly quit at launch.
It was that simple! As soon as it was back in place everything was working with the latest ProKit 7 framework (so know need to downgrade Prokit to version 5 anymore!)
Hope this helps anyone in the same situation!

Does Final Cut Pro Studio work on old powerbook?

I'm planning to buy the Final Cut Pro Studio package, but before I want to be sure that it will work fine on my PowerBook.
I have enough Processor (G4 1Ghz) and RAM (1Gb) as apple suggest, but I'm worried about the supported graphics cards listed on the recommendation. My GeForce4 MX graphics cards is not mentioned. and of course I have to upgrade to OS 10.4.x... this is not a problem.
In this moment, from the Final Cut Pro Studio package, I only need to use FCP, DVDSP and Compressor. I have to import about 1 hour SD movie, other short clip, convert to AC3 and Mpeg2 and use DVD Pro to authoring a DVD. I don't need to use a lot of graphic fx with motion or capture in HD format.

It worked well enough (but slowly) on mine. But you probably won't be able to install Motion because of your graphics card.
