Problem installing Flash v10.1

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and am doing this because I have been trying to install flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg to my (now quite old) 1.42 power pc G4.
I have read a few old posts from these pages and followed instructions that have helped me to un-install the old version of flash, download and install the most up to date version (see above) supported by my machine.  I received the message "installation succeeded" but there does not now seem to be any version of flash installed, even after 2 re-installations and re-boots.
Please - can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong????

Even that version may not install correctly.
Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Problems installing Flash v10 onto IE8

I cannot install Flash onto IE8 at all. I tried uninstalling flash, restarting, installing and restarting; no luck. I cannot uninstall IE8, when I go to do it in updates it does not load, perhaps there is an error with IE8?

Mike, thanks for the info. In your Flash files, you have a mix of two FP files, those and the fact in the add ons you don't
have the ActiveX Control for Flash Player. The Shockwave ActiveX Control most likely is for the Shockwave Player, which is separate from the Flash Player. So I'm sure the AVG is blocking the one needed for FP.
So, yes you are going to have to Uninstall/Install using IE. Download the Uninstaller from here and SAVE it to your Desktop.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then download this Flash Player Installer for Internet Explorer and SAVE it to your Desktop.
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Then since the Uninstaller will Uninstall ALL Flash files, download this Flash Installer for Firefox(and other browsers)
and SAVE it to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
Now I am somewhat more detailed in how I suggest Uninstalling/Installing and that is because I try to do it right the first time, so it doesn't have to be done again.
    1. After you have those SAVED to your Desktop, then Disconnect from the Internet.
    2. Open the AVG User Interface, double click on the Resident Shield & Untick the option Resident Shield Active & save the changes. Now, double click on the LinkScanner & Untick the option Enable AVG Search-Shield and the Enable Active Surf-Shield & save the changes.
    3. Disable the Firewall
    4. Check in the system tray and disable any applications that use Flash.
    5. Close ALL browsers
    6. Now RUN the Uninstaller from your Desktop. When finished, Reboot(restart) your computer. When fully Rebooted, Reboot again and when fully Rebooted, go to your Flash folder and make sure it contains NO Flash files at all. If any are there, then RUN the Uninstaller again & Reboot. (I know it's a pain)
    7. Now RUN the Installer from your Desktop, and when finished, Reboot Once
    8. You can now check your Flash folder for the IE files and there should be 4 entries, 2 will be 10.0.45.2 vs. and a log file and a Uninstall file. Then go to your IE "All add ons" and you should see the Shockwave Flash Object...Flash10e.ocx & make sure it is Enabled.
    9. Now, RUN the Installer for Firefox from your Desktop and Reboot Once.
    10. Now re-Enable your Firewall & other AVG components that you Disabled.
    11. Connect back to the Internet
    12. Post back all files in the Flash folder and the add on in IE. Also check using FF in plug-ins for the SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is Enabled.
This sounds more complicated than it is:-) It takes longer to type it out than do it! This is the procedure I use myself and have had no problem.
If you have any questions, just post back.

  • Problems  installing flash player. Learner

I am experienceing problems installing flash player. I go to the adobe website and install the program and I am told it has been successfully  installed. No flash player  icon apppears on my desktop. When I press the windows start icon and click on "all programs" there is no evidence of the flash player. However when I click on" my computer" icon and go into uninstall/change the flash player program is there.I have spent quite some time installing, uninstalling and installing again without success
I am using windows Vista. I am also using Kaspsersky Internet security. It is a private computetr so I do not think  I need administrators permission.  I have tried installing flash player using both interner explorer and Mozilla firefox. Please can anyone help. Many thanks.

Shane, since you must be having problems getting a thread started, I'll just go ahead and try to help you here.
Use IE and go to Help and click on About Internet Explorer. It should tell you sp1 or sp2.
Also using IE, go to Tools, click on Manage add ons and look in all add ons for Shockwave Flash Object. Let me know if it is Enabled and if it is version 10.0.45.2 or says Flash10e.ocx.
Then switch over to FF (Firefox) and find the plug-in SWF version 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is listed and Enabled.
Post this info back to me.
    Thanks,

  • Problem installing Flash on to Mac Serious!

    Hi all,
It's been a really bad few days now. I'm running Firefox 5.0.1 on an Mac OS X 10.5.8 and have recently don't my software update etc... had a small problem with a disapearing dock but nothing major and now like everyone else have been asked to download the new Flash.
So I download it from the offical site it does its thing. when I get the install icon I click it, it asks me to accept all the rules etc... so I do nd then it asks me to close browser do that then it installs.....but it doesnt really install as when i go back on the internet I'm asked to install flash.
    I have already:
uninstalled and install a gizzillion times shutting down and all, have searched my activity monitor have checked in with my disk utility have emptied trash and deleted unwanted plists and now I am well and truelly bemused.
Please please help I need a genius I think.
    cheers

    Hello Ffrrogy,
I may not be the person to give you any useful suggestions since I have a different serious problem with Flash and Safari 5.1 that I can't solve.  However, since no one else has replied to your problem, I'll offer one suggestion:
You can begin by checking to see if the Flash Player got downloaded into the correct location on your hard drive.  Via the Finder, look in:
HardDrive (typically called Macintosh HD - but not your personal user area that probably has your name) --> Library ---> Internet Plug-Ins
In the Internet Plug-Ins folder should be a file named "Flash Player.plugin"
(Note, there is another Library in your personal area that is different from the one in the HD area.  I don't know if Safari would find the plug-in if it were in your personal library.)
If the file is in the Internet Plug-Ins folder then double check your preferences in Safari.  Under Security, be sure that plug-ins are enabled.  If plug-ins are't enabled the Flash Player you downloaded won't be loaded into Safari when you open that application and thus when you visit a site with Flash content, you'll get the message to download the Flash Player.
By the way, I'm assuming that Flash was working in your Safari browser at some earlier point in time.  Also, if you have Firefox, you might see if Flash is working there.
But if your problem isn't with plug-ins not loading then...

  • Problem installing flash player with I.E

Whilst surfing around the internet this morning I vaguely remember getting a message about needing an adobe flash player update shortly followed by my browser crashing. I didn't think much more of it but from this afternoon onwards I discovered that almost every website i visited would throw up a "This website wants to run the Following add-on: 'Adobe Flash Player' from 'Adobe System Incorporation'. If you trust the website and the following add-on and want to allow it to run, Click Here..." message at the top of the page.
I tried resetting Internet Explorer 8's security settings to default (i think they were default anyway) but this made no difference. I went to the adobe website to attempt to install the latest flash player but every time i went to the installation page it would refresh itself after about 5 seconds with a "This tab has been recovered. A problem with this web page caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab" message at the top of the page. The page would then refresh again, this time ending up with a "We were unable to return you to adobe.com. Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website." error page.
In an effort to resolve these problems I uninstalled adobe flash player using the adobe uninstaller (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), rebooted my computer and attempted to install the flash player again. Once again I couldn't install it with my attempts again ending up at the "We were unable to return you to adobe.com. Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website." error page.
I just tried downloading the Firefox browser and have had no problem installing and using the adobe flash player so I am guessing the problem is some sort of issue between adobe and internet explorer- any solutions?
    Thanks :-)

Hi, You didn't say what version of IE you are using, but most likely IE7 or IE8. It's some option in the browser I'm sure.
Since you ran the Uninstaller, and it Uninstalls all Flash Player from All browsers, try this Adobe Installer that you will download and SAVE to your Desktop. Then close all browsers, keep your Security setting on Medium for the Internet Zone, be sure to use the Administrator account(only one that has permission). Check your system tray (area by the clock) and disable any application that uses Flash, as Messenger services.
Run the Installer from your Desktop and when it is finished, be sure to Reboot(restart) your computer.
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
    Then test here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
Check your websites to see if they are working properly.
    Thanks,

  • Problem installing Flash Player ActiveX

    hi,
i try to install the IE version of the Flash Player, but it says me, that I'm trying to install an older version and I should go download the new setup file but that I just downloaded from here. The problem is, Flash Player is not even installed and ever Flash website tells me to install the flash player.
Is there a way to force the setup to ignore this warning?

  • Problem installing flash eff2

i cant install flash eff2 ,i ve flash cs3 ,extinsion manager cs5.5 and i get the error message the extinsion cant be installed you need flash version 9 or greater
    what is the problem ??

Extension Manager only installs/manages extensions for the same version of products. Extension Manager CS5.5 only installs/manages extensions for CS5.5 products such as Dreamweaver CS5.5, Flash CS5.5, InDesign CS5.5, etc. If you want to install extensions for Flash CS3, you have to install Extension Manager 1.8, which you can get from http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em18_download.html. You also have to ensure "flash eff2" supports Flash CS3. I don't know what "flash eff2" is.

  • Newbie problems installing Flash 11 and windows 7/SWF issues-PLEASE HELP!

I am VERY new at Dreamweaver (llike four days in) - my church has a website & they need someone to take it over so I'm trying to help out while teaching myself something new.
I was doing okay til now. I downloaded a free template to play with so as not to mess up their real site just yet. I was able to get the majority of the site up except for the top part with flash. Error message says: "this page contains some SWF objects that may not work properly in the most recent versions of IE. Dreamweaver cannot convert them to SWF markups. Please delete each of them and insert again" This mesage comes up on the index.html, index-1.html, and index-2.html pages.
I deleted & re-typed everything that had an SWF in it (then realized maybe I only needed to do the ones with the .swf extension, duh on me!) but I'm still getting a gray box with the "f" inside.
Additionally, I keep having to re-install Flash because it says I have to use version 10 or higher - the browserlab worked during the online lessons offered by Adobe, but now it won't work at all! I installed Flash 11 more times than I can count but it still won't work, yet when I go to my Programs flash it's installed twice - once as a 64 bit and once without. I'm assuming one of those can go.
I'm familiar with HTML and have created smaller websites using templates on sites like Yahoo Business, Wix and Office Live and thought I could handle this, but it's really stumping me, thought there'd be a learning curve and trial/error but WOW! Much respect to all you web designers out there, this stuff is no joke!
If anyone could please help me fix this problem and dumb your answer down as much as possible cuz I'm admittedly very lost! I'm worried that I'll have the same problem with the church site because they want some flash aspects. Did several internet searches & couldn't decipher the programmer jargon, nor could figure out if I was doing the suggested fixes correctly.
Thanks in advance for the help from anyone! I have a brand new computer, dell xps15 only 3 weeks old, so it's not the computer!

FYI:  Dreamweaver questions are better answered in DW's General Discussion Forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver_general?view=discussions
Older versions of DW used an Active-X JavaScript to initialize Flash in IE browsers.  Adobe later switched to a different script in CS4 and again in CS5 and CS5.5 which uses SWF Object Replacement.  I suspect your Template was made with an older version of Flash & DW which is why you're getting the nag screens.
Option 1:   Preview the original template pages in browsers.  If it works,  ignore the DW error messages.
Option 2:  Rebuild the Template by stripping all Flash object and embed code and removing links to any Flash supporting scripts.  Then re-insert your media.  Insert > Media > Flash...

    Hi,
Try running the CS5 Clean Tool before installing:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
For good measure, reboot after running the clean tool, and then see if you can install successfully.
Let us know whether that works,

  • Problem installing Flash 10.1.85.3

I have been trying to install Flash Player 10.1.85.3 and cannot get it installed.  I tried to update and it did not work.  I tried using the alternate installer on the Adobe help page and it acted like it loaded but it does not work.  I then tried to uninstall the Flash Player and the Adobe DLM, the Flash Player uninstalled but the DLM did not.  I tried in add/remove programs to uninstall it and I got a permission box, but when I clicked continue it did nothing.  I read the earlier thread started bo yongyoja and have tried all the ideas.  It shows in my add/remove programs list but I can't find it anywhere else.  I downloaded the uninstaller and installer from that thread, ran uninstall and rebooted twice, then ran the installer and rebooted again. I got the installer running and it said it was complete but no Flash.   I tried to play a Youtube video and got a message to update and it did not play.  In manage addons, in show all addons, the only Abobe program is get_atlcom Class, whick shows up in All Addons and Downloaded Controls but nowhere else. Next I disabled all addons including the Realplayer and rebooted, the Realplayer Programs stayed disabled, but it would still not install.  BTW, the Norton antivirus was turned off. There is nothing in the addons about Shockwave Flash Object and a search for Shockwave turned up nothing.
At C\Windows\System32\Macromedia\Flash, there are five items, a folder named Flashplayer Trust containing one file, rpconverter.cfg,, and files Flash 10k.ocx, Flash install, FlashUtil10k_ActiveX.dll, FlashUtil 10k_ActiveX, and an install log.
If I had any hair, I would be pulling it out.  Does anybpdy know what I am missing?
