Problem Installing Service Pack 4

Have I done something stupid?
I followed the seemingly simple steps documented in the readme file. I
copied the weblogic510sp4.jar and weblogic510sp4boot.jar files into my
weblogic/lib directory. I then updated the JavaClasspath and
WebLogicClassPath in my batch file (I launch WebLogic from a batch file).
Everything seems to work fine.
However, when I run java weblogic.Admin t3://localhost:80 VERSION
I get:
WebLogic Build: 5.1.0 04/03/2000 17:13:23 #66825
The documentation says I should get:
WebLogic Build: 5.1.0 Service Pack 4 ...
It appears that the service pack is not installed. Have I don't anything
wrong? When I start the server, I see the appropriate classpaths in the
log - so I know that the path update is being seen.
I have attached a copy of my startWebLogic batch file. Thanks in advance
for any help.

Thanks!
I had missed that small detail. I think that 10 second post saved me quite
a few headaches.
Thanks for the quick reply,

The service pack jars need to be first in their respective classpaths.

  • Problem installing service pack 3 update

I have windows XP up and running on a seperate drive in my Mac Pro. I am now trying to update Windows by installing service pack 3 update via the Windows Update option in the control panel.
I get an error everytime saying there is not enough disk space. My hard drive have 109GB of free space so I don't know what the problem is.
    Any ideas?

    jperkinski:
Here is a solution for you that should work:
Boot into Windows XP and get to the desktop.
    Click on the START Button
    Click on RUN
Type Regedit in the windows and click on OK
    *Navigate to*
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Setup
In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
Try installing SP3 now and it should work.

  • Problem installing Service pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit from windows update

I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista Home (32 bits) through Windows Update many times. The Update panel shows Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available. I install the update, which by the way, just takes me few minutes curiouslly. The "update succesfully installed" message with the green circle checked on appears. But then, when I check my computer properties, the Service Pack 1 is not there and Windows Updated keeps showing again and again the update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available and that needs to be installed. I don't know what else to do, can you help me please.

    Hi:
Try downloading and installing the standalone SP1 file.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
If you get it to install that way, go straight to SP2 with the standalone download.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Error Installing Service Pack 1

    Hello,
I am trying to install Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports 2008 on Windows 2008 Server as an adminstrator and I get the following error message:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a fold containing the installation package "CrystalReports.msi" in the box below."
Also, I have been unable to complete the registration wizard because I do not get a 10-digit registration number when I complete the registration process at www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/productregistration .  I don't know if this problem might be causing the Service Pack 1 to not install.
    Thanks,
    Michele

    Hi Michele,
Windows 2008 is not officially supported yet but it is for Vista and Windows 7 after SP 2.
To get it to work uninstall first, make sure you keep your keycode and then download SP 3 full build:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    Then it should work.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Volume Keys not responding after installing service pack 1.

Okay, I've scoured the internet, and I can't find anyone else with a similar problem or a way to fix it, hopefully ya'll will have an answer:
I recently just updated my Vista Ultimate Operating System (using Bootcamp) to service pack 1. Prior to installing service pack 1, when I pressed F3-F5 on the keyboard, they would respond in the same manner that they would on OS X where F3 would mute, F4 would make the sound lower, and F5 would increase the sound.
However, after Service Pack 1, the buttons do nothing more than mute and turn on the sound. I reinstalled the Boot Camp drivers, ran all the software updates (found no updates on both apple and windows), and tried to repair Vista from the original install disk. Nothing helped.
However, here's the thing: When I press the buttons the same little overlay comes up displaying the sound volume, but there's a big 'denied' circle on the bottom of it. To describe it slightly better, there's a circle with the line through it(looks like a no smoking sign), placed over the squares representing the volume on the overlay to show volume control.
I'm lost as to what to do since all the other keys work, including the brightness control, and they worked before I installed Service Pack 1. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

i just uninstalled SP1 and it went back to normal,
go to Control Panel and on the left side theres something called "view installed updates" go there and just uninstall SP1 and your fine. but if you need sp1, i don't know how to help you there.

  • Labview won't close down properly after installing Service Pack 2

    Hi,
We installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP recently and ever since, I've had trouble closing down Labview. I'm using Labview 6.1 and whenever I try to close it down, it won't fully close down and I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.
What happens is that I get a minimised window on the bottom of the screen that won't go away.
Has anybody seen this before and can anybody help.
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

In my experience, SP2 for XP introduced a whole lot of bugs and mishaps. You would be better off uninstalling SP2 if you can. If you want to keep SP2, you may have to uninstall Labview, then re-install it.
I personally can't confirm this statement. I have XP SP2 with the latest patches applied and I have not really problems with LabVIEW 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, and 7.1. Only NI-Max likes to crash sometimes but since it is a notebook I have little reason to run NI-Max until now.

Since I installed service pack 2 on my HP computer a week or two ago, the Photoshop "Open" tab no longer appears at the top of my Pictures screen, but rather a "Preview" tab, and I haven't been able to open a picture in Photoshop.  Instead, when I double click on a picture, it opens in Windows Picture Gallery.  Not long after I installed service pack 2, I also changed my default browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.  Thanks...

Each of the two security updates for Yosemite required a restart once the update had been installed.  Did you in fact perform these restarts?
If you are in doubt, go to About This Mac (under the Apple logo in the Menu Bar).  Then choose System Report > Software Installations [requires scrolling way down on the leftmost column] > [look for security updates to be logged there]

    Hi,
Try to use Chkdsk tool to check if it could fix this issue:
    1.
Type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
    2.
At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    Chkdsk /R X:
In this command, X: is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume that you want to check.
    3.
Press Y when you are prompted to check the disk the next time that the system restarts.
    4.
Close all applications, and then restart.
Meanwhile, please try to download Windows 7 SP1 package and then install it to check if this issue persists.

  • Installing Service packs

    Hi All,
I have the following question about installing service pack 1 for 2008 R2.
I know that it is recommended by Microsoft to ensure the stability of the system etc.
My question is it less secure to only install security patches and no service packs? (is it ok to have a 2008 R2 machine with all security
    patches but without SP1?)
Or is it ok if we install all security patches?
I have run baseline analyser and it lists sp1 as a security update..
Is it only because there are also security patches included or also because it is required for future security updates?
    Thanks

A service pack contains previous updates and new functionality combined and thus contains security fixes too. The release of the service pack extends the support lifetime for the product, as long as you obviously have installed the service pack.
Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle
This means 2008 R2 (without service pack)
support has ended somewhere in 2013. Since, no security patches are made for that OS version.
You should really install the service pack, even if you have very good reasons not to.

  • Fix for continuous reboot after installing Service Pack 3 in Windows XP

After contacting HP Technical Support and speaking to a supervisor we were able to solve the problem of Windows continuously rebooting after installing SP3. Here are the steps that fixed the problem with my HP Pavilion running on an AMD processor. The steps are actually fairly straight forward and easy....
Issue: The computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3
Computer reboots continuously after installing Windows XP service pack 3 on AMD systems. The problem is that with some configurations, SP3 causes the computer to crash during boot, and Windows XP, by default, is set up to automatically reboot when it crashes. That is why you end up in the endless rebooting scenario.
    Cause:
On HP computers, the same Windows installation disc image for Intel processor based PC's is deployed for the AMD processor based computers as well. Because the original installation image for both Intel and AMD is the same, all have the intelppm.sys driver installed and running. That driver provides power management on Intel-based computers. On an AMD-based computer, amdk8.sys provides the same functionality for power management.
    Symptoms:
Ordinarily, having intelppm.sys running on an AMD-based computer appears to cause no problems. However, on the first reboot after a Service Pack 3 installation, it causes a big problem. The computer either fails to boot, or crashes with a STOP error code of 0x0000007e.
You may not see the error code because the computer reboots too fast. In order to get the error message, you need to set an option during startup. To do so, open the windows advanced menu by tapping the f8 key on startup. Then select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
    Solution:
If you have an AMD-based computer, however, you do not need the intelppm.sys driver and can disable it. There are three methods in order to do this.
Step 1: Please try to log on the system in safe mode.
    1. While using Safe mode open the command prompt....  Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt
Run the following command in the command prompt just like it's typed: sc config intelppm start= disabled
    Step 2:
If the issue persists, please try to log on or boot the system in recovery console (refer to the web document)
    2. Using recovery console:
If you booted into the recovery console, from a command prompt, type: disable intelppm
Step 3: Please check in registry.
    3. Using windows registry:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    3. From the File menu, select "Load hive"
    4. Navigate to %systemdriver%\Windows\System32\Config on the dead system and select the file name System
    5. Name it something you can remember, such as "horked"
    6. Navigate to horked\ControlSet001\Services\IntelPPM
    7. Double click the Start value and set it to 4
    8. If you did what I did and completely messed things up by running a disk check previously, navigate to ControlSet001\Control\SessionManager. Open the BootExecute value and clear out the autochk entries.
    9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other control sets.
    10. Reboot

For future reference: Service pack 3 Installation steps:
Before installing the service pack 3 update, please follow the steps listed above and save yourself much time and effort.
To uninstall service pack 3, I suggest that you uninstall it from add/remove programs.
    Step 1:
Uninstall service pack 3 from add/remove programs:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Select Run.
    3. Type appwiz.cpl in the run field.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click change or remove programs.

    8. It will pop up the message stating that "Are you sure you want to remove the programs".
    9. Click Yes. It will help you to remove or uninstall the installed programs from add and remove programs.
Step 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform system restore and then try to install the service pack 3 after performing the steps mentioned above in regards to removing the intelppm.sys Driver.

I hope this helps someone who is having this problem. It sure took me a minute to get it all figured out. :0)

Still useful as of 12/30/11. Have ten Lenovo 5042 computers with downgrade licenses to run XP and have a ghosted image from another Lenovo 5042 having and Intel cpu. My target computers all have AMD cpus in them and the image would continuously reboot on
    the AMD computers.
Used method 1 and it cleared the problem instantly, many thanks for the post and the time and effort it took to dig up the answer..
