Problem installing software on new imac

I am using a new imac and i tried to instal the software. It seemed to work with disk 1. I skipped verifying the disk though. Disk # 2 i will try to install. It will look like its finishing but then it will say problem instaling software. Please try again. I have tried it 2 times already. PLEASE HELP!!!

Let me see if I have this straight.
You are simply trying to install Mac OS 9.2 from disc 2, correct?
What happens when you insert the disc?
Does it mount on the desktop?
Do you receive any errors?
Are you able to double click the install classic icon?
b I am using a new imac and i tried to instal the software. It seemed to work with disk 1.
So you were trying to reinstall the system software from disc 1?
Was this an upgrade of the software or a reinstall of what came with your computer?

  • Problem installing on my new iMac

I have an ugrade version of Photoshop Elements 10/Premier Elements 10. I  have recently changed from a Windows based machine to a new iMac. I obviously do not have my previous software installed on my new iMac. I suspect that there may be a problem to install my software for that reason, but in addition, I get the following error messages:

  • Trying to install software on new iMac

I have just bought a new iMac, OS X 10.9.  I tried to install my Illustrator 10 software and received the following message - You can't open Illustrator 10 because powerPC applications are no longer supported.
What do I do now? Can anyone advise me please?

Illustrator 10 operates in your old OS under Rosetta, with the new iMac running the OS which will not support Rosetta you can't run Illustrator 10. If you browse to the Illustrator 10 application icon does it have a circle slash over the icon? You will need to run Illustrator 10 on a system that supports Rosetta, or upgrade your Illustrator software.

I purchased numbers but want to install in my new iMac.  how?

If you purchased it from the Mac App Store, sign in with the Apple ID used to buy it, click on the Purchases tab, and download it from there.
If you purchased it from the iTunes App Store, you can't without getting the Mac OS X version.

iphoto never came installed in my new iMac bought in Dec. (newest version) WHY??? How do I get it?

It did come pre-installed, have you looked in the Applicaitons folder and have you checked Trash to see if you (or some other user on your computer) threw it in there? If it's still not there, then restart in the Recovery Partition on your iMac (hold down the Option key when you hear the startup tone) and choose re-install OS X.

  • I need to delete Creative Cloud software from my PC and install on a new iMac.  What do I do first?

I have had a Creative Cloud membership for several years and have installed all the related software on my PC.  I recently purchased an iMac and will be decomissioning my old PC.  What steps do I need to take to deactivate and unistall the software on the PC so I can install on the iMac?  I will be wiping the C drive in the old PC when I have moved everything I need to the Mac.
Also, I will be installing Parallels on my iMac and installing Windows 7 Ultimate as well, so the I can install Windows only programs I use that are not available for the Mac.  Are there any Windows versions of the Adope Create Cloud software that don't have a Mac equivalent?  Does it matter if I use virtual vs. bootcamp?
    Thanks!

  • Need to do a clean install on my new iMac

I have a new iMac and after migrating everything from my old one, I am getting some strange problems.  Things like not being able to shut down without doing a forced shut down and some other small things here and there that Apple have not been able to figure out.  I thought I should do a clean install instaed of a full migration and I wonder if anyone has any tips on doing this in the most efficient way, while migrating all my data and info and such, but making sure that I don't just bring back the same problems.  I have everything on a Time Machine back up.

CDs are no longer required, in fact no OS X version has been available on optical media for three versions now.
To erase the disk or to reinstall OS X use OS X Recovery: Hold ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. Your iMac has a Recovery partition already on the disk, and if you need to replace that disk with an empty one, your iMac has firmware that conveys the ability to download OS X directly from Apple's servers, and create a new Recovery partition on the new disk.
For a more thorough description addressing all options start with the following, courtesy of the late Apple Support Communities contributor Pondini: 19. I got a new Mac, or a new or erased internal HD -- now what?
Beware of any incompatible software that Migration Assistant may transfer from Macs running earlier OS X versions.
Anything you purchased from the Mac App Store or the iTunes Store can be downloaded and installed again on as many Macs as you own, as often as required, assuming the purchased items remain available from their respective stores.

  • Problems installing Photoshop CS2 on iMac

I have my brand new iMac 20" Intel Core Duo, and I have recently purchased Photoshop CS2 and I can not get it to install. I saw in some places about the SU 2006-003 patch, but I have not installed that. I also saw about VC2 in the startup items, but that is not on my hard drive.
The problem that I am having is that it gets so far into the Running Installer Script and then everything just freezes. I'm not sure what could be wrong.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Todd

    Hi all,
I have had some luck with CS2 and my iMac Intel. But this is only after i spent a week of trouble shooting. A WEEK, on a brand new computer?... this to me is laughable. I am a die-hard Mac user but i have to say i am thouroughly disappointed in my new iMac. After 6 great years on my reliable G4 550Mhz 768RAM i upgraded to an iMac Intel and I just don't see the stability that i used to have with my G4.
Anyway, on the iMac, I did ALL the updates (including the security update and QT 7.1) and was running os x 10.4.6 and when i tried to install CS2, when i got to the second disc, installation froze, computer froze and i had to force a shutdown with the power button. When restarting, the iMac booted to the desktop, but nothing else loaded (no dock, no finder bar at the top, and no desktop icons; mouse didn't function as well) Called AppleCare and ended up having to trash my preferences and trash all that was installed by CS2. Well, that got my iMac working again but was nervous about trying to install CS2 again. Reading somewhere on these boards i came across a thread that mentioned installing Stuffit Expander, saying that some files on the installation discs needed decompression and since stuffit didn't come with OS X 10.4.6 i went ahead and downloaded the free stuffit expander. Heck at that point, i was ready to try anything. After installing stuffit, i tried installing CS2 again and this time the installation did work but seemed to freeze at the end. No message saying installation was succesful, just froze after CS2 finished installing from disc 4. I force restarted with the power button again, but this time the desktop, icons, mouse and dock were working as normal. I was able to run illustrator, photoshop, indesign, golive, bridge and acrobat pro simultaneously, but i wasn't doing any "real" graphics work. I do notice a lag when switching between apps. For example when i switch from illustrator to photoshop, it takes a few seconds for all the tool bars and palettes to load. I should also mention i have 1 gig of RAM. Read somewhere it's better to have 2 gigs, but come on... 2 gigs of RAM just to have functioning software? (another disappointing work around) Not sure if stuffit helped, or just a coincidence. I'm no expert so I'm wondering if anyone else tried that and had success like i did.
I am sorry about this rant, but you figure if you pay so much for a computer, that it should work correctly and that it was tested realistically for bugs. Not with a supercomputer with infinate RAM. I know i bought an apple, but this computer is running like a lemon and to be honest, i'm nervous about installing any updates or additional applications. Being a freelance designer, i don't have the option of pushing back deadlines... and the troubleshooting and time on-hold that i have to waste is crippling my workflow and losing clients for me. Wondering if i would be able to exchange my iMac for a G5 PowerMac with no restocking fees. I have no problem paying the difference in price between the machines but refuse to pay restocking fee for a machine that simply does not cut it.
Well, hope everyone else has luck and let me and the discussions boards know if the stuffit thing is a fix, workaround, or just coincidence and i got lucky installing CS2
    good luck to all

  • Problems Installing Software on a Mac that is both Win and Mac compatible

I am new to Mac. My kids have a bunch of games and some educational software on CD ROM. The software case's say the CDROM is compatible with both Windows and Mac. I have not had a problem installing them on my old PC but cant get either my iMac or Macbook to install the software.

Check the exact version requirements on the box. Make sure it says OS X. If it only supports OS 9, then it won't work on Intel Macs (e.g. your MacBook and 2006 iMacs).
Also, there are a few bizarrely-designed games that are OS X compatible, but the installer runs in OS 9. If that's the case, you'd need to install it on a PowerPC Mac, then copy the game folder onto your Intel Mac (using flash drive, CD, file sharing, etc)

  • Welcome window doesn't appear when installing CS5 on new imac

I'm trying to install CS5 into my new imac but after I inserted the Application disc 1, nothing happens. the welcome window doesn't appear. No window to fill in serial #s, etc. Installed Acrobat with no problem though. Thanks.

Thanks for your response Jeff. I'm still getting myself familiar with Lion and obviously handicapped with these tech stuff so pardon my ignorance. I didn't see the DVD icon the way I used to in earlier OS so just assumed it wasn't working the way Acrobat worked (the first DVD I inserted). Now, I transferred the contents of my backup drive onto my new imac and see both CS4 and CS5 transferred into the Applications folder. Does that mean the softwares are installed or do I need to install them through the DVDs? Don't want to accidentally screw up anything. If I just dragged and deleted CS4, does that completely remove it out of my iMac? thanks so much for your help.

  • How to install software on an imac that doesn't have DVD player built in?

I just got my daughter an imac G3 running OS 10.4.11. I went to install iwork onto the computer, and it spit the disc out. i then realized the computer does not have a DVD player built in. How do I install newer software? It runs and plays CD fine. Any help?

Since the other Mac is an eMac, it's a FireWire (400) cable, also called 6-pin to 6-pin. OWC has it.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/1394A66036/
I'm not sure if Radio Shack has it. Look for something like the above.
An eMac may be one of the models where the optical drive is not accessible over FireWire Target Disk Mode. If the hard drive and optical drive are on the same IDE bus, only the one that is set as Master (usually the hard drive) is available to the other Mac.
So give it a try. If it does not work (eMac's optical drive not accessible from the iMac), you will have to reverse the roles of the two Macs. Start up the iMac in FireWire Target Disk Mode. Connect it to the eMac that is started up normally. Set the eMac to start up from the iMac's hard drive in System Preferences +Startup Disk+ pane. If it's Tiger, your eMac should be able to start up from it. Restart. Insert the software disc and let the eMac install the software onto the iMac's hard drive. After installation completes, change the eMac's startup disk setting back, shut down the eMac, disconnect the FireWire cable, and restart the iMac normally.
Note: Unless you purchased the family license for iWork, it should only be installed on one Mac at a time.

  • I own PSE 10 installed on my MacBook Pro.  Can I use the disc to install it on new iMac?

Have PSE 10 installed on my MacBook Pro.  Can I use the discs to install it on my new iMac?  also considering PSE 11 and Lightroom 4. Comments?

Yes you can install it on your new Macintosh.  If it does not have an optical drive then you can copy the contents of the installation media to a USB drive and then install the software from there.
