Problem: ipod unable to play songs

Hello everyone,
I am pretty sure I use an ipod nano 4 GB of the third generation. I am using itunes 7.5 under windows xp (sp2). I guess I have two different problems. The first is: Using the third party product yamipod (i know, i should not have had to, but it was the only way i could scrobble my tracks to last.fm) now all of the tracks cannot be read any more. Neither by itunes nor by the ipod itself. Itunes suggests to reset the ipod which is not possible due to my second problem. That is that itunes is not able to connect to the internet. I have no idea why that is. I have no software firewall but the windows firewall and do not use a router or anything. I tried switching off the windows firewall but the problem stays the same. Anyone any idea on either of both problems?
Thank you anyways

Now i can't even get windows to reconize my ipod again. I just play it in and it freezes my computer until i unplug it. I have restarted, reset, and tried diskmode to no avail...

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS

MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS AND THE SOUND GOES IN AND OUT. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Is the Battery level is low?
The harddisk might be dying, run the disk diagnostic, the procedure is
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
if it is too technical for you, but it does gives you the condition of your harddisk.
What's happening is that some songs are on bad cluster, which need to be moved or reallocate to good cluster.
To fix it in Windows simply run
    chkdsk drive: /R /F
where drive: is the iPod drive ID. D: or E:
in Mac run Diskutilty -> FirstAid -> repair.
    Good luck!

  • IPod will only play songs from one album

Help! I downloaded an album onto my iPod, and now my iPod will only play songs from that album. When I go to select songs from another album, my iPod skips over them like it is searching for something.

  • Unable to play songs from cd

i have just imported songs from a cd onto itunes but when i try to put them onto my ipod mini it says it can't because my ipod is unable to play them. does anyone know what i am doing wrong?

In iTunes, right click on the header bar (the bar that shows song/artist/album etc) and select "kind".
This creates a column that shows what type of file the song is. What does it say?
Is this a new problem? Is it just this CD or are others affected?

  • IPod Won't Play Songs, Videos Reset it, and it's Quite Sluggish

I have a 30GB video iPod (the old version). Everything was working fine until a few days ago, when the power on my iPod ran out because I fell asleep while listening to it. The next day when I turned it on, it said "Connect to your Computer, Use iTunes to restore" So I promptly did that, and it worked fine until I tried to play a video on it. It showed a blank screen, so I reset it by pressing the Menu and Center buttons. Then it showed the "Connect to your computer" screen again. So I restored it, and it would be fine until it locked up again and showed the "Connect to your computer screen" again. I left it alone for about eight hours, and when I tried turning it back on again, it was back to normal.I've seen that screen probably 10 times in the past 4 days, and I've restored it, just as many times.
Here's the list of problems I'm having:
    - the iPod won't play some songs when I click on them. It will show the Playing triangle in the upper left corner, but I hear no sound and the seeking bar doesn't move. I'll often have to click the Pause button, then hit it again to Play it, and then it will play the song.
    - The iPod is extremely slow. When dealing with songs or videos, it often takes a minute or more for the iPod to respond to my button clicks. Its hard drive isn't full, though; in fact I'm only using about 2 GB.
    - Videos lock up the iPod. Just about any time I want to play I video on it, it will show a blank screen and won't respond. Then I have to reset it and I get the "Connect to your computer" screen again. These aren't videos in the wrong format or anything, these are the same videos I've been playing on my iPod before with no problems, until recently.
    - Battery life is horrible. Although it hasn't been fully drained yet, judging from the power meter and how long I've been using it after it's fully charged, I'd guess it would only last about 2-3 hours. I would think it should last considerably longer, as the iPod is only about 3 months old.
Has anybody been experiencing similar problems, or know what I can do to fix it?

I've still had the same problems, but now when I try and turn on my ipod, it tells me to restore. When I do go to restore, itunes says that it cannot find the file needed to restore my ipod. The ipod itself also tried resetting itself, I guess, made it to the menu that asked what language I wanted it in, and then restarted again. This went on for an hour and a half, and I could't do anything. Is my ipod a lost cause?

  • IPod Randomly Stops Playing Songs

Hi, Some songs on my iPod Touch running version 3.1.2, (mostly songs that I downloaded a long time ago) stop playing abruptly about 30 seconds before the song is over. The iPod says that the song is playing, but no audio is coming out. It is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or had found a solution. Thank you for helping me.
P.S. The songs play fine on my 4th generation iPod, (A.K.A. the "iPod Click Wheel") so I know the files are not corrupt.

No, I don't. Even if I did, that would not explain why no audio comes out of the speakers / headphones.

  • IPod won't play song all the way through?

My iPod Classic skips a song at the 1:22 mark (shows the correct 7:04 running time) and begins next tune. One song out of 3,000 or so. Interesting.
    What's up with that?
    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm.  Does this problem track play okay in iTunes?
Either way, I would try downloading a fresh copy of it again from iTunes via iCloud as explained in this Apple support document.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Then remove the originally downloaded version and sync the new one over to your iPod Classic.

  • 60Gb iPod won't play songs with bitrate 80kbps or less

    Hello,
My 60Gb iPod will no longer play songs encoded with bitrates of 80kbps or less. I think the problem started after I upgraded iTunes to v7.0.2(15) and the iPod to v1.2.
If I try to play one of these songs the iPod screen goes black, then the Apple logo appears, and after about one minute the main menu reappears. This happens every time, whether I select the songs in the "Songs", "Artists", Albums", etc. categories, or if one of these songs are encountered in a playlist.
It also happens whether the files have been bought on the net from eMusic, encoded in iTunes from my own CDs, or from any analog source. I have a lot of old lo-fi jazz recordings which I have encoded in mono to save hard disk space, and these songs played OK before the upgrade.
There seems to be one exception, however: Podcasts seem to play OK.
I have tried the soft reset on the iPod (the "menu" and "select" buttons for 6 seconds).
    Any others having this problem?

Pity, I needed the bass boost in the headset.
Hope this will be fixed in the next upgrade, then.
yeah, it's not an optimal workaround.
perhaps try keeping an eye on the following document:

if the "mono mp3" document shows up in it again, perhaps check to see if a better workaround (or a proper resolution) has been announced.

  • IPod won't play songs that were lost on my PC from drive crash

In January my hard drive crashed (Win2000) and I lost all the music on my PC. NO big deal, replaced the hard drive and restored my CD's, figured I could just play my purchased music from my iPod.
the problem is that SOME (not all) of my purchased music now won't play on my iPod even though the songs are physically there ... this started after iTunes 6 came out ... but different songs seem to play on different dates ... it is very weird. Today I sorted by "date added" and discovered that anything purchased between 6/22/05 (my birthday, coincidentally or not?) and 12/31/05 will not play on the iPod ... UNLESS I had copied the song to a CD and restored to my hard drive from the CD.
Songs that I have purchased since replacing the hard drive worked for a while, then wouldnt' work, but I could delete the song from my iPod and re-copy from my PC. Obviously this won't work for all the music that I lost though!
Music from this account is authorized for 4 devices so that isn't the problem, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Unable to play songs purchased today??

  • IPod will not play songs bought from iTunes more than once

None of the songs I have purchased from the iTunes Store play on my iPod. They play on my Mac, my wife's Mac and my wife's iShuffle, but not my iPod. My iPod is running the lastest software version, and i have the latest iTunes version.
If I format, reset, restore and reload my music, HOORAH!! they play...ONCE. Then I have to do that all over again if I want to play them again. The songs say they are there, they say they are taking up hdd space, but if I try to play the iPod just thinks about it for a second or two and then skips over the song.
I have never had any problem with songs ripped off my CD collection.
Apple are completely useless and offer no assistance and what i have been able to find on their website tells me to do what I've done. Does anyone have any ideas how to make my iPod compatible with the iTunes store?

This just happened to me on one song I purchased from iTunes (it plays fine on iTunes on my MacBook). I'm on iTunes 8.0 (haven't yet upgraded to newest version). Everything else works fine so should I do this for only one song - or is there another easier fix? I did copy the song to a cd so would it work if I just deleted the one song and imported it? Or is this a sign of a deeper problem?

  • My 5th gen iPod no longer plays songs that I bought from iTunes

After updating my iPod's software, the setting on it were erased so that everything was in sync with the computer. Not realizing this I found that all of the music on my iPod had to be re-uploaded onto my iPod. However the music and videos that I purchased no longer play despite being listed on the iPod. Can someone please help I've run out of options.
