Problem Navigating Apple Support Discussions

Whenever Safari 2.0.3 loads a web page in the Apple Support Discussions, all of the items beginning with "https://ssl.apple.com" return the error message "bad server certificate" in the Activity window.  Once a page loads, some of the navigation buttons don't work.  They include the "reply" buttons on some posts as well as the buttons to go to the next page.  So far, I haven't had this problem on any other web site.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Thanks to you both for your helpful advice.  My 1st real introduction to OS X was in August when I bought a PowerBook G4.  (On 'retirement' last century, I was happily running System 8.6 on a PowerBook G3.  Forced to upgrade(?) to System 9.2.2 -- to run QuickTax.  Why is it that so many bad things are associated with taxes? [smile]  Bought the G4 after lightning took out the internal modem in my longtime companion.)
When buying the G4, I had -- naively -- assumed that the applications loaded would be the latest versions for the version of OS X that it was running.  You set me straight on that, Klaus.  So, took your advice and downloaded Safari 4.1.3 that same night -- at 4.1 to 4.5 kb/s.  Yes, I still use a dial-up internet connection.
As Ramón anticipated -- and kindly shared, Safari 4.1.3 requires OS 10.4.11.  Calculated it would take the 180+ mb combo file about 12 hours to download.  Before figuring out how to do that, the problem was solved.  Bought a 2nd G4 -- in case some unkind fate happens to the 1st G4.  It has Safari 5.0.6 installed (running OS 10.5.8).

    Updated the phone to IOS 7.1.1 but there was a problem with my computer.  Everything was removed from the phone but I couldn't get it back without help.  The tech helped me and everything is fine now except the music.  I did sync it and backed it up but wonder if I should restore backup.  I'm a little nervous to try that, what do you think.

    hello all first of all please accept my apologies for my bad english language .I'm an American who lived outside of America since childhood. i hope you understand me . i am one of the apple fans that many times i contact with apple support team for solving my itunes problems, some of supports were great But on other side there are many employee in the apple company that they just give us some PREPARED answers without thinking about what i ask them !
    i want to report my problem here to get rid of those useless persons and ofcourse those weak answers in the apple company. before of explaining my problem  , let me tell you a short thread:
    some months ago i bought one microsoft XBOX live CODE to charge my LIVE account , i bought that from a retail store at France. Code was redeemed before i buy that , that was obvious that seller had decide to scam me with a used voucher ! and he did not accept my words and he just needed proof. so i go to microsoft.com on support section then i start talking  with online chat support

    hi bleach i explain whole the story in the post 1  but the forum moderator removed that and this time he EDIT my thread.
    i bought 3 iTunes code and i want to know the date and time of redeeming, this issue happened to me manytimes in the past and each time apple support answered me with the time of redeeming of the code.
    but some times some persons in apple support they don't help me and they don't give me date and time of redeeming ! and they just give me some prepaid and Irrelevant answers.
    all i want to say is that many persons in apple are useless really, and we have report their weak support.

  • Many problems and Apple Support isn't coming up with answers

    Bought an apple tv yesterday. Am not happy.
    I was on the phone with a tech for 2 hours yesterday. He had to guide me through upgrading it's software. But he couldn't resolve the problem I have with renting a movie on apple tv. Had me send an email to support!!!!!
    Pictures and music sync and work fine. What doesn't is this:
    1. Attempting to play a purchased tv show (sync'd from iTunes) on apple tv, after I select the tv show on the apple tv interface, apple tv gives me the following message "apple tv is not authorized to play this content."
    2. Apple TV does not allow me to rent movies, it gives me an error message that it does not recognize my apple id or password. I assure your, after many tries with the tech rep on the phone, I know I didn't type it in wrong.
    3. Apple TV is not able to access iTunes to authorize sync'ing a movie I rented on iTunes. I don't think this is even sych'ing. Please don't tell me that iTunes rented movies are not enabled to be sync'd (not a feature?).
    4. Apple TV searches on YouTube gives the error message "content not found cannot communicate with YouTube please try again later."
    Apple TV does play trailers for the movies available to rent. I expect this means it is able to download this off the internet.
    So anyone want to try to beat apple's supports next 24 hour window for suggestions. It will be very much appreciated.
    Other details:
    cable internet (tv, tele, internet all in one package)
    Airport express (cable modem goes direct to the Airport express)
    iMac sunflower OSX 10.3.9 (yes I know its old (5 years), but it still works fine - directly connected to airport via cat5a ethernet connection, no airport )
    MacBook OSX 10.4.11 connects via airport.
    Canon MX300 connected to airport express via USB.
    I'm in NY with a USA apple id.
    Computer was purchased and used in the UK before I moved back to the USA

    I had such a strange experience.
    I bought 2 160GB ATV's to replace my original 40GB. One worked, right out of the box using wireless.
    The other, using wired Ethernet couldn't connect to Apple store to rent movies as described in many posts.
    I tried putting it on wireless. I tried removing WEP. I downloaded the newest update. I reset the machine by taking out the power for 1/2 hour and then coming back.
    I gave up after 2 hours.
    I took it to the apple store today and replaced it and the new one worked right out of the box in wireless mode. Go figure.
    Apple support was useless.

    Login, then select "Apple ID" from the left hand list.

    Using Safari and trying to write a discussion on apple communuty support it is not possible to write the discussion. You can write but words you are writing are invisible. This is a bug both with my iphone 4s and iPad mini.

    Tap Settings > Safari then tap to clear History, Cookies, & Data then reset.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Then try writing a post in ASC discusions.

  • 1 Solution to fix Updating 1.2 problem from Apple Support

    I talked to apple supervise supporter to fix problem I have (error 1417 and 1418).
    1. Restart your computer
    2. put your ipod to disk mode (press Menu button & Center button and hold until you ses apple logo Then press Center button & Play/pause button and hold until you see disk mode)
    3. try to disconnect unneccary USB conecttion
    4. Open iTune 7.0
    5. Connect iPod via USB and wait for summary page in iTune and updating 1.2 BOX (your iPod still say "do not disconnect") Then press Install.
    6. After that you will see update processing bar but it's not moving on your computer screen in the same time you will see "OK to disconnect" on your iPod screen.
    7. unplug iPod from USB and replug it Then wait abit you will see processing bar moves. Wait until finish.
    8. Your iPod will reset by itself (Apple logo with processing bar on your iPod screen) and your iTune will recognize your iPod again Then it will update your iPod.
    9. Go setting and About in your iPod. Now you will see version 1.2

  • TS4002 As of 4pm PDT, I cannot send email from Outlook via iCloud; my wife has the same problem.  Where/how do I report this problem?  Apple support seems to be available only if one is using a Mac product.

  • Safari having problems accessing Apple support site!

    First it was one of the sites I need to access for my job (WebAdvisor). Then it began having problems browsing through pages of Ebay. Then it lost the ability to connect to MySpace. Now it is having problems connecting to THIS site, with error messages coming up for THIS board. All of the problems with Safari have happened in the last month.
    WHY?

    On this sit, there is (erratically) only a message that comes up on the page where this board appears, saying "An error has occurred."
    On WebAdvisor, I get: "Safari can’t open the page “https://bcconline.bcc.edu/datatel/openweb/index.html” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “bcconline.bcc.edu”."
    In MySpace, I get (only on Safari. It works on Firefox):

    On Ebay, it's erratic, so I can't copy the error message, but I think the error code number is -12229.

    I think this would be very useful.

    Just FYI, the forum software wasn't developed by Apple. It's a commercial package from Jive Software, and this rather old version of the software, to the best of my knowledge, did not have a "mobile" version. Apple is working on a new "Communities" which will use different forum software, and at that time it's possible that there might be a mobile version. We'll have to wait and see, though, until such time as Apple is ready to say more.

    I am having many issues with this website.  I was finally able to sign in after 3 days of them not recognizing my existing account.  Now the screens are VERY slow and there are  pop-ups before each screen confirming that i want to view only webpage content delivered securely (?).  Also many screens will not load and I cannot use the reply button to reply to responses.     It sounds like you're using IE 6, 7, 8 or 9. Yes, it's agonising for most people in those particular ways.
    You should have better luck in a different browser. I'm making do with Safari 5.0.5 at the moment, and I know other folks are doing okay with Chrome. (Not sure about Firefox.)

    This happens with every browser (Firefox, Camino, & Safari). I am using the default auto-login feature of each browser. This has been happening for about a week. Anyone experiencing this? Not that much a big deal... but... bug?

  • Invalid security certificate for my website host-they say the problem is Apple Safari and use Firefox instead

    For the past few days, I keep getting an invalid security certificate in Safari whenever I select Edit My Site from my website homepage (http://annaporterartist.com), or whenever I select anything requiring a secure log in from my website host main page (FASO.com). I have contacted technical support at my website host (fineartstudioonline.com) and they say that this has been an intermittently recurring problem in Safari for years and they recommend that I use Firefox instead. As proof of this they emailed a link to an Apple Support discussion, but it was for Mac OS X Lion v 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1, even though I told them I am using Mac OS X Mountain Lion v 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.2. I do not get this error message anywhere else on the web using Safari. I did try Firefox and it seems to work fine, but I prefer Safari and I want to know why Safari is not working as it should be. I am concerned that there is a real security problem with my website host and I need someone to explain why I am getting this error message, what it means, and if it is, in fact, a known problem with Safari or is my website host corrupted? Really tired of technical support playing pass the buck or pretending the problem does not exist.

    I followed the instructions you directed me to, and after moving those two fles to the desktop, i go to system pref>network>assis me>assistant.
    Going through that, i create a new location, than select 'I use airport to connect to the internet wirelessly'. I select the network that is ours, adn click connect. It runs for a bit, than the error message pops up saying "UNABLE TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK CONNECTION. Your computer could not connect to the internet. Click OK to go back and change your network settings and try again."
    I push OK, go back try again, it does nothing. I quit, go under aurport settings, and instead of having it as automatic, i select preferred networks, and select mine as the only network under that.
    I restart the computer, same problem happens. Open a web browser, says i am not connected, open my system prefs, and it reads: "AirPort is connected to the network xxxx. Aurport has a self-assigned IP Address and may not be able to connect to the internet."
    I have full range on my router, the aurport is connected to the network, i just dont get an IP.
    I go and renew the DHCP Lease, and it does nothing. Beside the IP Address, it reads a set of numbers which indicate its self assigned: "169.254.xxx.xxx"
    To make things more confusing now, once i reset my system preferences, my roomate, who is running a mac, and couldnt connect to the internet at the same time i couldnt, could now connect. What is the next step for me to do?
    Its not the router, because i have tried multiple routers. Its not the computer, because i did have a connection to this network prior to about 5 days ago, and i can still connect to the internet wirelessly at different locations. I reinstalled my os, updated it, nothing. I reset my system preferences and again nothing.
    This is becoming a major problem, as i need this connection to do school work.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I am trying to report a different problem through apple support but keep getting sent around in circles as whenever I make a submission for a response by email, I get the message in the title. I have tried submitting under different topics and it makes no difference.
    Alternatives: start a chat online? Wait time only 2 minutes? Or by phone, wait also only 2 minutes? Blatant lies.
    What on earth is going on? How can they get away with this? At best it's a farce, at worst it's malicious.
    Can anyone offer me some enlightenment?
    By the way, my real problem is to do with my Apple ID being disabled, an issue I am given to understand through research that many others are struggling to resolve, even if they can submit the problem in the first place.

    They are having high traffic due to the launch later today.  That could be the issue.  On a side note, if you Apple ID is disabled,  you have done a password reset and it is still showing disabled, you will need to call Apple to have them enable the account.  800-694-7466  or https://www.apple.com/contact/
