Problem on SuSE-10

Hi All :
I installed NCL on SuSE 10 (The unsupported hack @
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/16101.html)
but can't get anything to work.
I read other people could browse Trees and Servers but that is not
working on mine :-(
As sson as I open the tray or launch Novell Connections
I get :
Cannot scan Connection References. Error:NWCCScanConnRefs:
Description : Cannot scan Connection References.
Error:NWCCScanConnRefs:
Code : 88FF
Build : 1.0.0
File : ncpConnectionRefScanner.cpp
Line : 74
Repository Version : $Revision: 1.6 $
I turned off the firewall on the local box but that didn't make a
difference.
If this is a communication issue (ports blocked)
What ports should I check to see I can get to the server(s)?
Cewl stuff but bleeding edge...
Thanks

No but it is a dual Xeon --> smp kernel
I couldn't download the binhack, so I did the 'manual' steps to get the
right version of libbfd into place...
I will double check the version of the lib.
Do you have the binhack.rpm?
Would you mind e-mailing it?

  • Installation problem on SUSE 12.1

    Hi
I'm a Linux beginner and I am trying to install LV on SUSE 12.1
I've also posted my problems on Lava:
    http://lavag.org/topic/15240-labview-installation-problem-on-suse-121/
The installation started and it looks quite all right, but when I try to start LabVIEW, the application just sits in the taskbar for about 20 seconds and then just disappears.
     Any ideas?
Is there a way to debug to see what's going on?
    Cheers,
    Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Mike,
Unfortunately, there are no versions of LabVIEW supported on SUSE 12.1 at present. Here's a link to LabVIEW version compatibility with different Linux distributions. I saw from your other forum that you're attempting to install LabVIEW 2009, which is certified for SUSE 11.0 at the latest.

  • Javaws problem on Suse Linux 9.2

    Hi.
I'm using Suse Linux 9.2 and have a problem with Java Webstart (5.0). When I start javaws the CPU load rises to 95% and stays at that level. Nothing else happens. I can't start any application with javaws.
Has anybody else experienced this problem or does anybody else know how to solve this problem?

Blackdown has solved this problem in their latest jdk.
    They just released J2SE v1.4.2-01.
    see : http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux/java2-status/jdk1.4-status.html
Now my only problem is that jdk1.5 doesn't work and that has become
my default jdk. I hope sun will solve this problem quickly.
    Kees.

  • Path and installation Problem in suse linux

i have installed jdk1.3 in suse linux.
when i give /usr/lib/jdk1.3/java or javac it runs the class or compiles the .java file as expected.
But the problem is if i give /usr/lib/java/bin/java
    /usr/lib/java/bin/javac
    /usr/lib/java/bin/javap
it runs only the java .
    what can i do.

    Hi,
It could be because different versions of java are installed on your Suse machine. If you type java -fullversion or java -version (it might be double -) , this will give you a clearer picture on the versions of java installed.
Also which java or which -java can help.
    best,
    kev

  • INode problem in SUSE 11 SP1 for SAP

    Dear Experts,
We are now preparing server for our new BW Productive instance, with the following specs:
    - server x3850
    - storage V7000
    - SUSE 11 SP 1 (2.6.32.49-0.3-default #1 SMP 2011-12-02 11:28:04 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
We use EXT3 for the fs type with just only allocating one VG, size 5,5TB. The problem is:
every time we copy file from mounted folder to the file system, let say DB2, it ended with the following result:
    -????????? ? ?    ?        ?            ? home.bd1adm.tar
the file is corrupt after copying and restarting the system

    Dear all,
the inode issue occurs when copying files to /usr/sap folder from any directory.
/usr folder is mounted in the internal disk (rootvg) which contains OS files as /usr/sap folder is mounted in the V7000 storage (datavg). The problem is: every time we copy file from any directory to /usr/sap, that file is corrupted with i/o error message, then we just only remove it from the folder by running fsck, since it can not be removed manually.
Is it bug from SLES 11 SP1? I tried to configure SAP by joining /sap and /usr/sap using rootvg (internal disk), and it run successfully.

  • Problems with SuSE Linux 10 and JMF

Hi, I know that this is a problem of many other people who are working with JMF and I hope we can now find a solution for this problem.
The problem is, that after installing the Java Media Framework and running the jmfinit Programm, the jmfinit programm shows these errors:
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 0
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 1
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 2
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 3
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 4
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 5
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 6
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 7
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 8
    java.lang.Error: Can't open video card 9
The video framerate is also very slow and I think, that this has to do with these errors.
I've installed the latest ATI FGLRX driver for my ATI Radeon X800 and these errors also occured.
I also have only JavaSound Capture in the capture device list, but I'm using ALSA for playing music in Linux.
If anyone gets JMF running under SuSE Linux 10 without these errors and a good video frame rate, please tell me.
If you also have a good instruction fr installing JMF under SuSE please tell me too.
    Thanks, thomas

every linux distro i've installed, gets those errors.rh,suse,debian.
If you do not have a video capture device, you will get those errors.
Are you having framerate issues with webcam or video file??
If it is the webcam, it has nothing to do with your ati video drivers.
The slow frame rate from web cam would be your webcam drivers.
If it is video file frame rate, make sure you have codecs supported in jmf for that type of video.

  • Video problem L305 & Suse 11.0

    Hi,
After installing successfully, Suse 11.0 with Gnome on a L305-S5933 cannot display any GUI screens, only various color bars jumping around...
Any drivers or suggested changes to a default install/startup?
    TIA and Thanks,
    Mike

JDK 1.5.0_16 should work just fine for Thread Analyzer.
Did you run your program under "collect -r on"?
Please, take a look at "collect" man page to make sure you specified all necessary options:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4180/man1/collect.1.html
Also you have to compile your program with additional option to enable data race detection:
    -xinstrument=datarace
Please, take a look at this option in the man page:
    1. C compiler
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4180/man1/cc.1.html
    2. C++ compiler
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4180/man1/CC.1.html
    3. Fortran compiler
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4180/man1/f90.1.html
If you did not pass "-xinstrument=..." option to compiler,
and did not pass "-r on" option to collect, you can view
the results of your experiment in "analyzer", but it will not
show data race problems, because they are not collected.
    Thanks.

  • Cyrillic problems on SUSE

    Hello all,
I have a big problem. I have an application developed on Oracle Forms with cyrillic charset on database and clients. When it is runed on Win2000 or Mandrake everything is OK, but when i'm on Suse Linux, then on the fields i cannot write text, just digits and symbols like ?/...
What's the problem? Is it possible the openmotif to be generator of my problems? Note i use the same version on Openmotif on Mandrake and Suse

    Hi Venelin,
let me explain my problem. My database is on Suse 7.0 server and charset is cl8mswin1251. Also and clients are Suse 7.3 personal and professional edition with NLS_LANG on clients CL8MSWIN1251. Because Openmotif support only CL8ISO8859P5 i've change the charset on clients on that. During my apps developed in Jdevelopper worked corect with these settings, these apps on Forms, can't write into text fields, but only when i'm typing text. When i'm typing numbers and other symbols, it works ok. Also when i change the locale settings on Suse from macedonian to US, everything is ok with Latin symbols.
    This is my problem.

  • UIX dynamic image generation problem under SUSE Linux

    Hi,
we have developed an application with UIX 2.1.14 under Windows 2000, and everything works fine when we run the application on the local OC4J.
But after deploying the .war file to our production system under SUSE Linux SLES-7 and 9iAS Rel.2, the dynamic image generation doesn't work correctly:
One strange thing we noticed is that rendering works fine when we use ground colours like #00FF00, #FF0000 and so on. But not when we use colours like #3172ba. We have tried this with XVFB, VNC and with "headless" JDK 1.4 (with java option -Djava.awt.headless=true in opmn.xml).
Any ideas? Or possible reasons why image generation works using colours like #FF0000 and why not with colours like #3172BA?

    Dear Rajasekhar,
this error simply comes, because the architecture of your computer is not the same as the one from the test drive. As I'm not sure, which architecture the N4S test drive uses, we simply have one of the following situations here. Either
your machine is x86_64 and the N4S is i386 or
your machine is i386 and the N4S is x86_64.
    Please check!
    Thanks,

  • WTK2.2 Installation Problem on Suse 9.2

    Hi,
I can't seem to install WTK2.2 on Suse 9.2 pro. I am using the JDK packaged with SUSE 9.2. Below is the version info:
    java version "1.4.2_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_05-b04, mixed mode)
When I execute the WTK2.2 installation file, it terminates when it tries to extract the binary files from the installation file. Below is the error message:
    Extracting the installation files...
Error! CRCs do not match! Got e61aebb2, expected f53ddfb0
Failed to extract files. Installation will stop now.
Please try to install J2ME Wireless Toolkit again, or contact [email protected] for assistance.
Any pointer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Thanks. That works fine.
    I've found that /etc/alternatives/java_sdk
and also works and is a bit more generic.
I installed in /opt/WTK2.2 as root, and found the following was necessary to allow
end users to run the toolkit. (NOTE: I cannot even BEGIN to tell you if this is anything
but functional. It is most likely a security NIGHTMARE waiting to happen. You have
    been warned!)
    chmod o+w WTK2.2/apps

    chmod o+w WTK2.2/sessions

  • Oracle 8i, SuSe Linux, big performance Problem

    Hello,
i have a very interisting problem on SuSe Linux 7.0 (or 7.1).
Engine: Fujitsu Siemens Primargy, 4 Processors, 4 GB RAM
I want to make a hot backup.
After i set the tablespace in backup mode i make a copy of the tablespace.
On that moment goes nothing more with Oracle.
There is no input/output from/to the database. (Every select needs extremly long time)
Have anybody an idea? (I hope so)
    What is the break?
Oracle or SuSe Linux? (Any other jobs do the computer all right, very quick)
    Bye and thanks
