Problem opening projects on other systems

I have a Mac Pro at work and an iMac at home...
When I open a project from either box onto the other one, my timelines instances are not visually there on the timeline but if you scroll through it the footage is still there, it's almost like a blank sequence.
The timeline/sequence turns black and then sometimes an instance will appear randomly, it is really annoying. Only the timeline panel has the issue, all other panels seem fine.
My only fix is to start a new project and then drag in the project from the other system. I have to do this every time I go from one system to another.
Anyone having the same issues???
Cheers

Sorry but ... from the PP manual... if you have ever read it???
Clip instance
A dependent reference to a source clip, used in a sequence. Each time you add a clip to a sequence, you create another instance of the clip. A clip instance uses the name and source file reference used by its source clip. While clip instances are not listed in the Project panel, they are differentiated in the Source Monitor menu if you open instances there. The Source Monitor menu lists instances by name, sequence name, and In point.
Hope that helps you understand the correct terminology.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can try to duplicate my issue??

  • Anyone get this when opening projects on other systems

Have a project running on my mac pro (system A)... put everything on an external drive... open it on another identical system (system B), and get this:
Premiere CC 2014 Timeline Issue - YouTube
It does not matter which way I go... (A to B or B to A) every time I bring the project to another system I always get this issue.
The only time it opens ok is when the project relinks media from the system the project was saved on.
The best workaround is to start a new project and drag the project I want to open into it.
    Cheers

  • Problems opening project if I 'log on' with new id

Someone told me that my problem may be fixed if I logged on as a new user. I assume because they thought the problem might go away if I did so. But now when I'm logged on as a new user, I can't open the project. I get the forever beach ball???
Maybe I'm just not waiting long enough, but it seems to be crashing my system.
    Any advice??
    Bryce

The log in as a different user manuever is intended to determine if the FCP application itself , not any particular project, is at issue. This manuever involves only logging in as a different user and then starting FCP. If you get an un named project and normal start-up, that tells you at least that FCP is working OK. In turn that informs you that the preferences used as the "real" user may be the problem. If the project you are working on is not available to the "different" user and the different user tries to open it,an assignment that has to be made in advance of the switch, you could get a beachball and learn very little. You would have to make all components of the project(everything) available to the different user to try to start the project.
But the search for problems within projects are not revealed in this manuever.

  • Premiere timeline won't redraw properly after opening project on different system

I've been seeing an issue (for quite some time now) where if I'm working a job on two different edit systems (usually with duplicate media or using a shuttle drive for mobile editing) that when I open the project on the "other" system the timeline won't redraw properly and looks like the attached image. The edit is there and the system will play the timeline but it's unusable as you can't work.
I've found that some combination of duplicating the sequence and/or quit and restart might fix it. Importing the sequence to another project will too. A talk about this on twitter with other editors who have seen this says a relink to the media will fix it. I used to think that was a problem of using Dropbox to store a PPro project files was the culprit but it happens when I use a shuttle drive to keep the same project on two computers in sync for editing on one or the other.
    Anyone else? Any solutions?

Yes, I have seen issues here in support when users transport their projects from one system to another via a portable hard drive. It's very weird behavior and I'm investigating the issue. What you might try is a different method of transporting those projects, like a different drive, etc.
I will add this issue to my report. Feel free to file a bug report here.

  • Problem with loading a project from other system

    Hi!
I am tring to load a project that being done on logic with audiowerk card on other computer. I can open the project but when I am choosing a channel and changing the sound-card name to my card (core audio) I can hear the sund but all the plug-ins/instruments disapear allthough i got the plug-ins and most of them are logic built in plug-ins.
What should I need to do in order to keep the plug ins and still be able to play the project from my sound card.
    I have logic 7.1,Mac g5 and M-box.
    Thanks,
    Eshy.

You should have chosen the other option when first launcing it
    Convert to CA=yes
Usually this dialogue comes up, sounds like you brought it from an OS 9 system. The Logic plugs should follow through and the VSTs, well, you're kinda stuck there. Ask your client/friend to send the presets for 3rd party VSTs if you have them as AUs. Session interchange between your 2 platforms is not very rewarding, so do it as little as possible.

  • Problems opening project in CS5

    Hi all,
I've been working on a CS5 project for 6 months. 2 weeks ago I tried to open the project and Premiere hanged when loading media. I have load the project closing the the opened sequences while loading the media files, but when I try to open any sequence it hangs again. I'm unable to do anything when I open the project. I have tried the following tasks:
1.- Create a new project, import the entire original project on it. It imports the original one, but with same results: when I try to open a sequence Premiere hangs on.
2.- Create a new project, import some sequences of original project on it: doesn't work, the box where sequences should be is empty
3.- Open any of the autosaved project: same problem, every saved project has same behavior
I don't know how to solve this problem. I have months of work in that project and the only thing left for me is to cry
    Can anybody hel me?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Problem opening Project/WBS Elements in CJ03

    Hi Experts,
I have created an interface which posts PROJECT01 Idocs into SAP 6.0. Idocs are posted successfully and I can see Projects/WBS elements in tables PROJ and PRPS.
However, when I try to open a project/wbs through transaction CJ03, it throws short dump mentioning memory overflow. I checked by debugging CJ03 and found that the code is going into infinite loop.
Could anyone help me understand why this kind of problem is coming? What is the reason the code is going into infinite loop? If the project/wbs structure is not getting created properly, how can I check that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Netrey

The issue is resolved. The structure coming throug Idoc itself was incorrect.

  • Logo image in titles disappear when open project on other PC

    Hi You all!
Got a problem with Premiere Pro CS5 regarding titles. We´re a group of people who uses the same CS5-project file as a template (write protected) from a server out on different computers.
For each new project we open the template-project from the server and do a "save as" before we start editing on our own PC.
The problem occurs with our titles in this template-project. We have a pretty straightforward title with a background and text created in the title editor. Then we also  import a logo in png-format in the title editor. This works great when we open the project on the same computer as its made on. But when someone opens the project on another computer from the server the image is gone and there's a "Logo" text where the logoimage was. To get the image back we ned to open the title in the editor, klick on the "logo" and the smal square in the tools to the right and browse the image file.
This is hard unecessary work to do when we do changes etc in the template project.
Hope there is some way to get the logo image to stay in the title when the project is used on other PC:s.
Hope I have managed to explain the issue ok. Thanks for any help with this.

    You explained it well enough.
But in my experience, you will have to redo the logo every time you switch computers.  I don't know why PP keeps losing that link, but it does.
The better option would be to create the title in Photoshop, including the logo, and bring that into the template project instead of using a PP title.

  • PROBLEMS OPENING PROJECT

Hi guys, I have a problem. I made a video and then took it out of the project area and put it on my desktop. Now i cant open it at all. I cant drag it to imovie, i simply cannot get it to open whatsoever. i can't even open it or even find it in imovie. I have no idea why and what i can do because i can see the file on my desktop and its teasing me!!
    Tahlia

    Hi Tahlia
What You can see - is not the same as What Your Mac can see - especially iMovie.
You MUST move the project file back to iMovie Project folder !
To avoid problems do not (after restoring) move or alter anything in any folder named
    • iMovie Projects - or -
    • iMovie Events
or iMovie get's totally lost and damage might not even be possibly to repair.
Moving's - Can be done - BUT MUST BE done within the iMovie Application !
    That's the way it's made.
    • One more thing - not allways too obvious - The Project file - IS NO MOVIE - it is a document
that tells iMovie howto use the material (eg in Events and iTunes and in iPhoto and on HD) connected to the Movie You want to do.
It is very alike the score that a conductor uses in a symphony orchestra - not the Music but
a guide to how each instrument is played and when and the logic around this.

  • Problems opening projects

I'm an Aperture newbie, but already encountering problems. When I double-click on a project in the browser, Aperture opens a different project. I've already tried rebuilding, and that didn't do any good. Any ideas how to solve the problem? Thanks –

In the Browser? Do you mean in the 'Projects' item which lays out thumbnails for all projects or do you mean double clicking on a project in the Inspector (Projects & Albums section), note that only a single click is required in the inspector..

  • Problems Opening Outlook 2007 after system update

    Hi,
I've been running Outlook 2007 on my Windows Vista machine for  few years now. Last week a System update occurred and my machine locked up. I was forced to reboot the machine, and I took the option to "restore PC to last known working state"
which turned out to be a mistake - The update made another few changes to my system and since then MS Outlook has continually crashed. It's able to download (and delete) messages from the POP server, but when I navigate to the the Inbox Outlook crashes.
    In desperation I've:
    1) I've uninstalled Outlook, rebooted, reinstalled Outlook.
      The same problem occurred
    2) Uninstalled Outlook, renamed the AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook directory, rebooted, reinstalled Outlook.
Ms Outlook keeps trying to find the pst file which no longer exists.
I'm guessing, but are there some settings in the registry which need to be cleared out before I can reinstall. If so, where would they be?

Thanks for getting back to me - and so quickly as well.
I'm now able to launch Outlook, but when I navigate to any of the folders I get a message that says "Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working" after which I have to close the program again. This was the original problem!
The event viewer doesn't give me much more information:
ID: 6, Application Name: Microsoft Office Outlook, Application Version: 12.0.4518.1014, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.4518.1014. This session lasted 11 seconds with 0 seconds of active time.  This session ended with a crash.

  • Problem opening project, JSE 8.1

    Hello
I just reinstalled the OS and subsequently JSE 8.1. When I try to open my project it appears JSE cannot. When I navigate to the folder which contains my project folder, the project folders show as valid project folder, that is they have a small icon in their corner. But whan i select the folder, this icon dissapears, and choosing it will only open the folder, not open the project. Can someone explain and help me with this, please?
    Much regards
    Fluid

    - Were any extra modules/updates installed when the projects were originally created, that are possibly missing in the current installation?
    - Are there any relevant error messages and/or stacktraces in the <userdir>/var/log/messages.log file?
    - There could be a chance that the userdir may have been corrupted, though it seems unlikely since you have reinstalled the OS itself. But still, can you try running the ide with a fresh userdir and see if that makes a difference?

  • Opening project in other computers?

    Hi,
I have a project in FC 6 and I want to open it in another computer, I have material from 1 whole tape, I captured non stop and don't need to use the whole material, my question:
Is there a way to save the project that it contains only the material needed "used", without having to take the whole folder/hard drive where I reset the scratch and save the whole project?

Yes, consolidate and trim your used media using the Media Manager
Its a big topic so head up to your Help menu and crack open the manual and read the chapter on Media Manager ... also check out some of the Media Manager tutorials over on Ken Stone's marvelous website, and also at the LAFCPUG website. Heres a few to get you going:

Once you have a handle on it, head on back with your questions

  • Problem opening projects iMovie 13

I just updated to Yosemite and decided to update to iMovie 13 from 11 as well ... big mistake.
Because of the large size of my iMovie projects I kept them on my external hd, this used to work perfectly, whenever I had my external HD connected it would show all the projects in iMovie and I could play/edit them as I pleased. Now after the update the projects no longer show, and although they are still on the external HD, they only show as iMovie Events, not projects, which means I would need to import them all back and edit the whole movie from scratch. Needless to say I'm extremely frustrated by this, and I hope one of you can help me to get things back to the way they were.
    Thank you in advance.
    Daniel

Update: Just found out Apple keeps a copy of iMovie 11 on it even after upgrading, so I'm still able to edit and play all my films .. thank god.
Still would be nice to know how to get these projects into 13, or is this impossible?
