Problem saving pages documents as postscript files and pdf files

Hello!
My problem occurs when the pages documents are saved as pdfs -they go 'screwy'. If you save as a pdf (through file, print, print as), the certain fonts show a holding maarker rather than spaces on the screen but prints fine. If you save as a postscript (file, print, print as) and convert to a pdf in Preview the fonts are fine on the screen but are blown out when it prints and are all over the page.
If anyone has any suggestions I am more than happy to try anything.
Veronica

As every user, the 'poor silly man' may download "*_Pages User Guide_*" thru the Help menu.
Doing that, he would be able to read:

  • Problems saving Pages documents

Hi our Mac has just started not letting us save Pages documents. We are not doing anything differently!
If you try to save a new document, after you've chosen the location, it comes up with a pop up saying "the file ... couldn't be opened"
Any ideas anyone? I've tried searching on here, but can't find anyone with the same problem...
I tried pasting in to a new doc and that doesnt work either.

Quit the app. From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ iCloud
    Uncheck the box marked
    Documents & Data
    then check it again.
Relaunch the app. There will be a delay before your documents stored in iCloud reappear.

  • I encountered a problem saving a document I just wrote, can someone help me?  See my summary

I'm having trouble saving a document.  I  copied and pasted a graphic onto the page and was about to save the project when a spinning colorful wheel appeared. It will not allow me to do anything, let alone save the document.  I don't want to loose the document I have worked so hard to produce.  What can I do?  I can use internet, but I cannot do anything with the document i just wrote.  Do you have any suggestions?

    Close but not quite:
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
You can use a 4 GB and 2 GB module to get to 6 GBs. That should help a bit. But keep in mind you have very old hardware for running Yosemite. That machine should stop at Snow Leopard.

hi! I've got a problem, after saving pages document to iCloud on my mac I can't download it on my pc as pdf... only pages available, when I do the same on iPad everything is fine... is there way to fix it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need to open the documents on an iOS device before you can open them as anything other than pages documents.

  • I converted a 253 page document from Word 2010 to pdf using Adobe Professional 8.  The pdf fike only had 251 pages.  Why?

I converted a 253 page document from Word 2010 to pdf using Adobe Professional 8.  The pdf fike only had 251 pages.  Why?

Word documents don't have a fixed page layout; Word reflows freely if it wants. This isn't normally a problem unless things like typing page numbers is done; avoid that.

  • Saving Pages document iCloud Mac at the same time?

I recently bought Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. I like them a lot, but am running into some logistical issues. The biggest one is that I love saving to the Cloud - all my stuff is safe, especially since my harddrive has been replaced once and is already acting up again - but I also want my documents on my computer. Is there a way to double save - like, change a preference so that when I hit "Save" it automatically saves it to my Cloud and to my harddrive? I've tried creating a shortcut for File>Duplicate, but for some reason it's just not working. Duplicating and resaving every document I ever create/edit is going to get tedious quickly. Any help?
Also, on a related note, I cannot access Pages documents on other computers as a Word document. Even on my computer, I try to download it with Word - which I have - and it doesn't work. One of the biggest draws of the cloud was that I would be able to access my documents anywhere, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks for your help!

You will only be able to save and read Pages documents from the cloud using Pages. Word will not open them from the Cloud.
Hold down Option while clicking the File menu and scrolling to Save and you should see Save As... which will let you save the document in another location. You will have to repeat each time you save.
Further questions would probably better be answered in the Pages forum.

  • Page document with audio file not sent by email

Hello and blessed Christmas to everybody.
    Here is my problem.
I created a pages documents with images and an audio file from iTunes inside.
Sharing it by Mail, (and converting it in PDF so that anybody without pages be able to open it) I see that the audio file is not present or not playing inside my mail.
Is this because of the conversion in PDF?
But I'm afraid of PC user not being able to see it if I let it in Pages.
    Thanks for your tips.
    Cathy

Of course! I must have been inattentive.      AsI don't have Adobe acrobat pro I sent everything in word and pages.
    Thanks

  • Missing page while converting Postscript files to PDF using Distiller 9.

    Hi
Due to some incorrect hexadecimal code in the post script, one of the pages is not getting created in the full pdf. So, we can say that the page is missing in the complete pdf file.
Here is my snapshot of the issue:
    1. Offending command issue on a particular post script data is coming up due to some incorrect hexadecimal data.
    2. If I run the postscript through Distiller 8, report is getting generated without any missing data.
    3. Whereas, if I run it throught Distiller 9.1.3, Distiller is ignoring the page due to following warning.
%%[ Error: typecheck; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
    Stack:
    41
    ( À
    4. If I run the same Postscript file in Distiller 9.3 (latest version), issue is going away.
    5. But I have another Report pdf with the same  issue but this time with a different hexadecimal exception.
%%[ Error: typecheck; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
    Stack:
    49
    (à øÀ øÀ øÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ þÿ€ þÿ€ þÿ€ þÿÀ þÀ þà þø?þ?ÿÿþ?ÿÿþ ÿÿþ ÿÿþ ÿýþ ÿùþ?ðà øÀ øÀ øÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ üÿ€ þÿ€ þÿ€ þÿ€ þÿÀ þÀ þà þø?þ?ÿÿþ?ÿÿþ ÿÿþ ÿÿþ ÿýþ ÿùþ ü%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
So, either way, even if I upgrade my version of Acrobat from 9.1.3 to 9.3, issue doesnt go away. I think the new Acrobat Distiller is buggy and introducing new problems when compared to Acrobat Distiller 9.
    1. Works fine Distiller 8.0
    2. More problems with 9.1.3
    3. Lesser problems with 9.3 but I cant upgrade to 9.3 unless i see all the missing page problem going away.
Can someone urgently look into this?
    Regards
    Hari

I am calling Distiller using command line.
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrodist.exe" /f/Q/N C:\Reporter\debug\report.dst
report.dst contains the the names of the post script files.
(I have already contacted Distiller server forum and I was told to post the request in Acrobat forum)

  • Saved pages documents won't open

I have suddenly developed an issue with my "Pages" documents that have been saved.
I am not able to open "any" of them. All but one is grayed out and will not open.
This is something that just recently, as in the last few days,  has happened.
I had several copies of my resume stored on my desk top that had been created and saved on
a laptop computer using a MS Word program. I had been using them to download to job applications on line.
They are not able to read the copies saved as a pages document.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sillygma

Did you create your resumés in Pages '08?
And have you upgraded recently to OSX 10.9 Mavericks and Pages 5.2?
Because Pages 5.2 can not open Pages '08 files.
However Pages '08 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder. Open the files with that.

  • Having a problem saving word documents...any ideas?

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this..
Lately when I've been writing a word document a message will pop up from the Auto Recovery Save. It says, "Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write-protected. Try one of more of the following: free more memory, make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged."
    I'm using Word 2004 (version 11.3.5) on Mac OS X 10.4.11
I've tried deleting some word files to free up some space but I'm still getting this message. I haven't had any other problems using my macbook. I write a lot of word documents (I'm a student) but this is the first time I've ever had this message pop up.
Any ideas what the problem is or what I can do to fix it?
    Thanks!
    Stacy

How much free space is on your hard drive?
    Have you emptied the trash?
Disk space is not 'freed' for re-use by deleting files until the trash is emptied.
Have you tried using Disk Utility to check the disk for errors and to verify/repair disk permissions?
Have you tried saving your documents to a flash drive plugged into the USB port?
An empty 4Gb or 8Gb Flash drive has plenty of space to store lots of documents as an inexpensive and a temporary solution if you're almost out of hard disk space.
Even with a flash drive, you might get the same error message, because the temporary files are probably defaulting to being stored on your hard disk. There's likely a place somewhere in Word preferences to view and change where the temporary files are stored. (Sorry, I haven't used OS X 10.4 or Word 2004 in about 4 years, and I don't have either one immediately available to check.)
It's also possible that your hard drive is beginning to fail. If Disk Utility cannot verify the hard disk, I would recommend making a backup of important files immediately to CD or DVD. (I use Time Machine, but that didn't become available until OS X 10.5)

  • Change page size for PostScript file?

    Hi,

In the following modifed sample from printing doc, even if I changed the book's page size and printer media size attribute, it still gave me ISO_A4 size.

  • Cannot open pages documents "index.xml file is missing"

Working on an iMac Mountain lion and using pages 3.0.3.  Just today, none of my pages documents will open.  I haven't stored anything in the cloud, I haven't changes anything, just working on the pages documents  simple text.
The last thing I did with it was to print the file, as I have so often before.  I have a MacBook with the same pages app, but running on Yosemite -- bought a new version of pages.
The MacBook will open .pages files stored on that hard drive, but files taken from the iMac will not open on the MacBook.
I'm in a tight.  I have a vast number of documents as I've been using pages for years.

By default, Pages v5.5.2 on Yosemite saves out a Single File format document, which is a compressed renamed zip folder that the Finder allows us to believe is a document. When you attempt to open that document from within Pages '08, or Pages '09, you get the following dialog:
The Pages v5 generation documents do not use an internal index.xml file. Pages v5.5.2 also allows one to change that single file format document into a package file format document, which is not a compressed, renamed folder. When you open one of these package format documents in the older Pages applications, you now get a different dialog message. The index.xml file is still missing, but…
If you are using Pages '08 v3.0.3, or Pages '09 v4.3, there are no newer versions of these applications available. This is an Apple attempt to steer users to a Yosemite update, and then downgrade to the latest Pages applications that now require Yosemite. They could have just said, “we made a document format that is incompatible with older Pages applications.”

  • Problem updating pages that use .dwt file

So i have 45 files that all use the same .dwt file.  Usually when I make a change to the template and go file > save it asks me if i want to update all pages that use that specific .dwf file.  For some reason it doesn't show the pages that do.  Although if I go to the specific page for example contact.html and do a Modify > Templates > Apply template to page, it applys the changes, and then once i make a change to the .dwt file and do the File > Save, contact.html now appears in the section of files to be updated.  I do not want to go thru every page and manually apply the template does anyone have any information that could help me out? thanks

    However, that would work.
It sounds like your site cache has become corrupted.  Try the following -
    1.  Open DW's Site manager, select the site name, and click on EXPORT (make sure you opt to export the FULL site defintion including FTP info)
    2.  Export the site definition to a KNOWN location on your hard drive
    3.  With the site name still selected in Site manager, click REMOVE to remove that site from your list of definitions
    4.  Import the site definition you just exported - that should solve the updating problem
Does this heal things for you?
