Problem to install Package on the target machines

hi everyone
I want to use Remote Desktop to install new softwares on many clients through LAN. But I read some posts about the problem. It needs a software "PackageMaker" to make pkg-format. I have some question about the PackageMaker.
1- I have Remote Desktop v. 2.2. Is PackageMaker going to work with this version?
2- We have more than 300 clients and will update or fresh install Adobe package (Photoshop, ILLustrator and InDesign). This package is too big, some GBs. Is PackageMaker going to work?
3- If question 1 and 2 are not going to work. I will think about Remote Desktop v 3.0. Is this version 3.0 going to work? Because I did not use it
4- If question 1 and 2 are going to work. Where can I buy PackageMaker?
PS! We use Mac OS Server 10.4.6 and Mac OS Client 10.3.9
Thank you very much
Best Regards
Tri

both ARD versions 2.2 and 3 can install packages.
PackageMaker is free.  You can get it by installing the apple developer tools.  i think PackageMaker will successfully create the package but I think it'll be incredibly large and problematic to try to push out 1 package that is larger than 2 gigs.   You may be better off creating a different package installer for each individual app.
Also Adobe CS (1 and 2) is a huge pain to install due to all of the files necessary for it to work.  It puts files in the user's home folder and this can cause lots of problems when trying to install remotely... prompting for an admin to authenticate if it needs to make a change.  I wish you much luck with this aspect.
ARD 3 is supposed to be better able to handle something like pushing out a large package but in reality, version 2.2 may work just as well for you.

  • Word/Excel in the target machine?

Do I need Word/Excel installed in the target machine if I develope a stand-alone application with the office toolkit report generation?

Luca is right. The reason is that the toolkit uses activeX to use Word and Excel. This allows LabVIEW users to take advantage of the benefits of those programs from within LabVIEW. The toolkit provides a programmer friendly interface to those properties. When you build a LabVIEW executable, it complies the VI to run independently of the LabVIEW development environment. The commands for communicating to Word and Excel are complied but not Word and Excel programs. They still need to be installed on the remote computer so that the LabVIEW compiled activeX commands communicate with something.

  • The requested feature DSC-Service is not found on the target machine.

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a DSC Pull Server with a 2008 R2 SP1 Virtual Machine,
While many of the forums and tutorials have helped, particularly https ://www .google.com/url?url=https://davewyatt.wordpress.com/2014/06/07/how-to-install-a-dsc-pull-server-on-windows-2008-r2/&rct=j&frm=1&q=&esrc=s&sa=U&ei=7BavVKvxMIHEmAWDjoLwBQ&ved=0CBQQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNEUHC8QBHfNgChYXnMQe87rXrHz1g

After running the script found here: http://www .systemcentercentral.com/day-1-intro-to-powershell-dsc-and-configuring-your-first-pull-server

Check if your EPMA Web Application Service is running. If it is, attempt to get to this URL: http://server:19091/awb. If you can see the page, you should try to login. If your login fails and you get a 404, the issue is isolated to the IIS side. Check your IIS logs and you can take it from there. You should also check your IIS settings and make sure that there's a virtual directory for EPMA in IIS.

  • Issue while installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB.

    Hi,
I am new to the TimesTen(TT) and facing the issue of installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB(this is our project requirement ). I am trying to install on Solaris 32bit machine with 64GB RAM. When i installed only TT there is no issue. But I am not able to installed if I installed Oracle DB and after that I installed TimesTen on same machine.
Further if I tried to installed the TT with less size i.e.128MB along with oracle DB on same machine it installed successfully . But when i tried TimesTen with 16GB size it doesn't installed successfully along with oracle DB. Also, I tried to installed only TimesTen with size 16GB it installed without any error.
Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason for the above behavior.
Also i read in some threads in the same forum mentioning that "it is not recommend to installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB as they can contend for resources (memory and CPU). Could you please elobrate more on this what kind of issues can possibly occur in this kind of scenario.
Please let me know in case more information is required.
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Regards,
    Sanjay

Can you please explain what you mean by 'install' in this context? Memory size is not an installation time option with TimesTen. It sounds to me like you mean 'am not able to configure a TimesTen database to use xxx MB/GB of memory' rather than 'unable to install TimesTen'?
With a 32-bit operating system the largest TimesTen database you will be able to create is 2 GB. If you need a larger TimesTen database then you need to run 64-bit TimesTen on a 64-bit OS.
It general it really isn't a good idea to run TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle database. Perhaps you can share what your overall objectives are? WHat are you looking to achieve by using TimesTen? If we understand that we can give better advice.

  • 1802: This operation is currently unavailable on the target machine

    Hello,
Can't RC to some workstations via ConsoleOne. I get this 1802 error
right before authentication; at the login screen. If I manully login to
the workstation, then go back and try to remote control it, it
    authenticates and connects.
If I logoff, already connected, then try to RC back in via ConsoleOne, I
can't and get the "1802: This operation is currently unavailable on the

  • I have two problems when install 9iR2 in the RH9.

    Hi, everyone:
I have two problems when install 9iR2 in the RH9.
    1. I am going to 9iR2 in RH9 that the default character set is Chinese, so how I should set the environment variable NLS_LANG?
    2. When I set the default character set is English, after I run the "runInstaller", in the terminal will display some error messages:
Warning: cannot convert string "<key>Escape,_Key_Cancel" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: cannot convert string "<key>Home,_Key_Begin" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: cannot convert string "<key>F1,_Key_Help" to type VirtualBinding

    How should I correct.
    Thanks a lot!

Problem #2 is not a problem. We have been able to somewhat install Oracle when those warnings appear. The client install works fine with those warning messages in the terminal window. NOTE: They are just warnings...

  • Installing MDW on the same machine as MRS

    Hi Experts:
We have MRS running on a Windows 2003 Server (Enterprise) and is working fine.
We would now like to install MDW on the same machine.  I have also installed the MS Office 2003 and MS Visual Studio.NET 2003.  However, it is still not highlighting the option that would allow me to install MDW.
In the MDW prerequisites it states that I would need Windows 2000 or XP, however my machine is running on MS Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise Edition), would this make a difference?
Also is there a way of finding what I am exactly missing?  I have the install guide and I have everything mentioned in that guide.  I am also mentioning a few things that are slightly different.
Operating system is MS Windows 2003 Server instead of MS Windows 2000
DB is MS SQL 2000 Enterprise instead of Personal or MSDE
Can anyone shed some insight into this/
    Thanks
    Imran

    Hi:
This is what I have figured out.
I wasn't able to find a way of installing MRS and MDW together.  If MRS is installed first then MDW option is automatically is omitted even if all prerequisites are met.
If MDW is installed first then, the system is going to give you the option of MRS, howerver during the install it is going to remove all MDW components and replace them with MRS components.
Also, installing MRS on a XP is possible only after installing MS SQL 2000 (Personal Ed.).  Enterprise and Standard are not installable on windows XP.
Installing MDW on Windows Server is possible, and any edition of SQL will work for the install.
I hope someone will find this information useful.

  • Target mode system install - why must the installer machine start from CD?

I want to install on an iMac flatpanel 800mhz that has no working CD drive. The ibook I will use to target the imac does not want to boot from the retail Tiger CD but will read it fine under Finder.
Is it possible to run the retail install CDs on the ibook under finder without restarting the ibook? I see no reason why the ibook must boot from the CD as it is not the ibook I will be selecting as the destination drive but the imac.
    But then Im probably wrong!
    Thx

Put the CD in the iBook, then boot the iBook into Target Disk Mode (hold "T" while booting). You should see the floating FireWire logo on the iBook screen. Connect to the iMac with a FireWire cable and boot the iMac with Option held down. If you're lucky, you will see the Tiger DVD. Select it, then click the large, right-pointing, arrow.

  • Can I install 8 on the same machine where I have 7?

Can I install app server 8 on the same machine where I have app server 7 installed already? Are there any conflicts that I need to be aware of?

Yes, you can install both 7 and 8 on the same system - you simply have to specify different installation location (and different set of port numbers if you plan to use both installations at the same time).
You can also use upgrade tool which is shipped with release 8 to migrate your server configuration and deployed applications from the old installation into the new installation. See installation guide for more details on this:

  • How to reinstall Mountain Lion after Mavericks OS has been installed without using the time machine?

Hi, I upgraded to Maverics a few weeks ago, and since than my computer has been very slow. It NEVER happened before. Now, I want to go back to Mountain Lion, but I didn't back up my computer with the time machine. I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me how to reinstall Mountain Lion again over Maverics? Thanks a lot for your help!

You will need either a bootable flash drive with Mountain Lion to install, if you have one, or reinstall Snow Leopard if your computer can boot Snow Leopard. Or you can use Internet Recovery to reinstall the original version of OS X that came with the computer. In any event you will have to repartition and reformat the drive.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion on a New HDD/SDD
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
