Problem when printing from PDF created by InDesign

Ok, here's the scenario!
I have a flyer, created in InDesign. I have drawn a grey curve (in InDesign) which goes at the top of each page.
I import a transparent logo in PSD format, and place it on top of the grey curve.
In InDesign and when I PDF it, it looks fine (at any zoom level).
However when I print it, there is a slight outline around the transparent logo and it has a slightly different shade of grey as its background (it stands out from the curve).
Does anyone know why this could be?  I also tried importing the logo with the same grey background as in InDesign but the same problem occurs.
Any help appreciated!

If you can't select composite CMYK it means your printer isn't postscript, or you aren't using the postscript driver option if one is available.
Since this is a printer-related function, not a property of the file itself, you don't want to do anything to your pdf to compensate. That's the printer's job, if necessary, when he processes your PDF.

  • Color problems when printing from PDF created in Pages

    I have created a newsletter in Pages, and have used the Export > PDF so that the file can be sent to a professional printer.  One of the graphics (created by an outside graphic designer and put into my Pages document as a jpg file) prints in all sorts of bizarre colors - nothing like how it displays on the screen.  Is there some sort of color formatting that I can do to make it print in the correct color?

    The Pages pdf will have many more problems than this case of mismatched color profiles.
    Unless you really know what you are doing avoid using Pages for commercial output. For a start all your bitmaps will have been rendered to a too low 72dpi resolution.

  • Printing even borders / margins from PDFs created in Indesign

    Hi,
    I am having trouble printing images with even borders / margins - from my Epson R2400 inkjet printer.
    In Indesign I have set all margins to 5mm along all edges. Then I export the document as an A4 PDF.
    When I open the PDF using Acrobat, the margins appears OK and even - same as in Indesign.
    When I print it, from Acrobat, the print then has a thicker margin on one side than the other. I have the same issues when printing from Indesign - except printing from Indesign is about 1000 times slower than printing from Acrobat!
    Does anyone know of any way of preventing printing PDFs with uneven margins?
    Any advice much appreciated!!! I'm wasting alot of paper and ink trying to print using different printer settings.

    Desktop printers will always be somewhere inaccurate. It’s just something you need to live with.

  • Strange font behaviour when printing from PDF

    Hi - hoping someone can shed some light as I've been going slightly crazy trying to figure out what's happening.
    I'm working on a Mac. I'm using the .ttf fonts of the Oswald family - obtained from Google fonts (and various other sources to rule out corrupt files).
    When exporting the PDF from InDesign and printing it myself, there are no issues. When I send the PDF to others on a Windows machine, it prints fine.
    When sending the PDF to my client (always the way) some of the font characters are, well, nudged down half way almost, out of alignment. It only happens on some characters, not all.
    We only discovered this before submitting an ad to the printers, and for safety's sake, I converted all the text to outlines. Ok for now, however not a long term solution as we need to be able to use this font for live situations.
    Has anyone experienced this before? Or perhaps can anyone suggest a workaround? I have to use TTF fonts as a 3rd party company who are working on some dynamic brochures have requested it.
    I'm literally at a loss.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well I can give you what I did to get around the problem.  I am running Adobe X pro on windows 7.
    1.  The print job in queue, cancel it so that it is deleted.  You now should have no jobs pending.
    2.  Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers(Win7) or just the printer and devices for your OS.  Yes this must be done with Admin privilages.
    3.  Go to Printer Properties for the Adobe PDF printer.
    4.  Select the ports tab.  Mine was on Com3.
    5.  Select Add a Port and call it Adobe Printer or something.
    6.  Select the check box and select apply.
    You should now print with no errors.

    Yes I am aware this has been a year, but this has happened over several versions.

  • Printing a PDF created in Indesign results in blurry text.

    Hello All,
    I am in need of assistance.
    I have created a flyer for one of my companies products in In-design.
    When I print the project directly form In-design the print looks great and the text is nice and crisp.
    However, when I export the project to a "Press Quality" PDF, and print it the text comes our blurry and "dirty"
    I have been trying to fix this for 2 days now with no luck.
    I have tried multiple different setting during the export to PDF form In-design, all resulting in the same issue.
    What is strange is when I print the PDF in black and white the text look just as good as if it were printed directly from In-design in colour.
    I looked around online and found allot of posts regarding this issue but no definitive results.
    I have also checked the colour of the text and it is 100%K.

    What color is the text?
    Can you show some screen shots?

  • Problems when converting from pdf to word

    I am a translator and I get most of my work in pdf files. So I convert the pdfs into words to be able to change the text and edit. However, when dcuments are converted from pdf to word I have found they become very unstable and difficult to work with to the point I usually end up not using the coverted file. Is there any place I can go for training about what to do with those documents? Can anyone relate to this problem?

    The report is displayed in the browser properly. We are using rwcgi to view the reports in the browser. But when printed using the print option of the browser, the page setup is taken from the browser's page setup. How do we set the browser's page setup from the reports? Also the fonts are changed to the browser's font. How do we force the browser to take the same font as defined in the reports?

    Oh my how embarrassing! The only place I neglected to check was in Firefox itself and under File-> Page Setup it was set to 50%. Reset it to 100% and problem solved!

  • Rendering Problem when printing to PDF using PDFCreator.

    When I print my report to PDF using PDF Creator it overlays the text over itself vs when i export to pdf and then print it prints it fine, can anyone enlighten me as to why it does this?

    Hi Raudel,
    According to your description, you can export the report to PDF and print it well. However, when you print the report directly to PDF with PDF Creator, fields are overlapping.
    Since you mentioned the report can display correctly after you export the report to PDF then print it, we can make sure the PDF rendering can work fine with reporting services. So it should not be the issue in Reporting Services. As we tested in our environment,
    when print the report directly to PDF with PDF Creator, report also display well. In your scenario, it supposed to be issue with PDF Creator. I suggest you contact the PDF Creator vendor to get some more effective advices.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • READ_TEXT: format problem when printing to PDF

    Hello everybody,
    I am using READ_TEXT function module to get long text then display to PDF format.
    I met a problem with format as following:
    The long text has bold format, for e.g.: This is bold text.
    The READ_TEXT FM will then read the data as: <H>This is bold text.</>
    When output to PDF instead of display as This is bold text., it is displaying <H>This is bold text.</>
    Please suggest me how to fix this.
    Thanks,
    Khanh

    Hi Khanh ,
    Below is the sample code for your reference .
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT'
    EXPORTING
    CLIENT = SY-MANDT
    ID = 'ZG01'
    LANGUAGE = 'EN'
    NAME = TH_INDATA_F01-VBELN_A
    OBJECT = 'VBBK'
    IMPORTING
    HEADER =
    TABLES
    LINES = TD_LINE
    EXCEPTIONS
    ID = 1
    LANGUAGE = 2
    NAME = 3
    NOT_FOUND = 4
    OBJECT = 5
    REFERENCE_CHECK = 6
    WRONG_ACCESS_TO_ARCHIVE = 7
    OTHERS = 8.
    Here lines = td_line refers to Lines of text read
    The table contains all text lines belonging to a text module. The line structure is defined in table TLINE. The line contents are stored in ITF format.
    Hope this helps you .

  • Illustrator CS6 - Organisation problems with printing from PDF

    Hi everybody
    I working with the Illustroartor for some times now and I get better every time, but now its appears that’s I have a organization problem with my Illustrator CS6 and maybe somebody can help me here.
    My problem: I create for example a logo and this logo I like to print on an Objekt like a Paperclip or a Lighter. I have now a print template as a PDF File (see attachement) with serveral predefined print areas. Around 100 predefined printing areas are on the PDF File and the only way to add my logo into this 100 predefined printing areas is by using the funktion “copy/past” but this takes long time and I have to adjust each single logo into the predefined printing area by hand … so this way don’t make really sense and is also very time consuming.
    My question is: Is there any way to automate this process by using e.g. the artboard funktion or some other functions?
    I would appreacte any help in this case!!!
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Nice regards
    Klaus

  • Margins problem when printing to PDF (Pages '09 v4.0.3 build 766)

    Hi,
    I don't know if this is connected to the latest Mac OS X v10.6.4 update, but some of my machines exhibit a very curious behaviour.
    + multiple pages A4 document
    + choose File > Print, click on "Save as PDF", under the PDF button
    ++ set pages 6 & 7 to print
    ++ set 2 pages per spread, so as to have Pages shrink the A4 document to somewhat A5, and have the two pages side-by-side on the same sheet
    ++ save the PDF
    Then, when I open the PDF with Preview, the margins are all wrong (i.e. too big, there's too much white running around).
    And from Preview's inspector, I can tell that the Page Size is set to US Letter, although in Pages both the document size AND the Printing Format are set to A4.
    The most curious part of the story is that my MacPro, my work MacBook Pro 13 and a white MacBook exhibit the problem, whereas my personal iMac 27" DOES NOT.
    And they are all running Mac OS X v10.6.4, with ALL the most recent updates, and the exact same version of Pages!!!
    I suspect that something has been changed in a framework somewhere, but I cannot figure out what it is...
    Any idea is welcome!
    Thanks,
    K2r

    I can do the same in TextEdit (although it's even more painful to control the margins!!).
    My problem is not that Pages won't put pages on one sheet; It's that the generated PDF does not respect the sheet physical size (A4 vs. US Letter), thus adding wider margins all around the document.

  • Problem when printing a PDF file

    I am currently using Pagemaker 7 and after I create a PDF file and then email it to my client, the image shrinks when they print it out on their printer. If I print that same PDF file on my printer it does not shrink. Can anyone explain why this happens and how I can correct this problem? Would be must appreciated.

    Screen captures are a good way to show people how to set page scaling to none

  • Formating problems when printing from googlemail text program

    They "may" use it for the viewing end of things but the formatting end is all theirs and doesn't involve Adobe Reader. Reader just views the end product.

  • Margin problem when printing on ipad from pdf app

    On 4500g there is no top margin and very small left margin when printing from pdf printer app on my ipad. Where can i set margins before printing?

    Hello Leonie1938,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    If I understood correctly, you are printing from an iPad to the Officejet 4500 G510g using a .PDF printer App. If this is correct, what is the App name? I searched and found an App called PDF Printer for iPhone for $2.99, is this the App?
    If you are not using a HP App, all I can offer is to clean the rollers on the printer. This is best done by following steps here: The All-in-One Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper, Solution four.
