Problem wi-fi synching to iphone

I just bought my iphone 4s and i saw the feature wi-fi synch and it said it was automatic. It is actually a very complicated process. All of the tutorials are saying that you have to check a box that says sync with this phone over wi-fi but i don't have this box under options under my iphone device at all? Any help ??

Just dropping in to say that my phone has still never synced over wi-fi without me initiating it either through the phone or through iTunes. The "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" had no notable effect.
I should also mention that my iTunes library is on an AirDisk through an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station which disconnects itself after a period of time. It appears to be connected through Finder and iTunes will give no error, but I will lose file permissions and it won't sync the phone or iTunes nor will I be able to transfer files to/from/within the AirDisk. I thought they were two separate problems, but they began around the same time.

I do not have iCloud set up as I still have syncing through MobileMe and don't want to have my data moved off of my device. (Data remains as "cached" data when away from the cloud, but disappears if you turn off the cloud)

New apps purchased on ipad not synching with iphone 4S. This a new problem. No problem in the past

Purchased new apps on ipad. Purchases did not synch with iphone 4. Purchases are listed in my itunes account and on my ipad, however, they are mot listed as purchased on iphone 4s. this is a new problem. I did not have any probelms in the past wit apps synching with iphone 4.

It does, but I use the SoundNote App because it records audio and allows me to draw diagrams in the document. Any thoughts on syncing the SoundNote files to the mini? I am sure it can be done with a wire, but I have a disability which makes it difficult to plug and unplug cords, so the more I can do wirelessly or through the Cloud the better. Thanks for your help! That's just a difference in how Outlook interprets email characters from the Mac. You shouldn't rely on using tabs for spacing, since you can never be sure if any of the text will align correctly in the recipient's email program. A better option is to use a monospaced font and plain text formatting.

So you had music on the iPad that is not in iTunes and you no longer have the iPad. Is that what you are saying? If that is what you are saying, iTunes won't "recognize" anything that was on the iPad, that was not purchased from iTunes. If the music was purchased from iTunes, you should probably be able to download it again for free as long as you are using the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Did you try downloading the music again?
Am I understanding what it is that you want to do? If I am understanding you correctly, you will find this to be useful.

I am having the same problem. I downloaded it from my 4S and my ITunes account shows it was downloaded. It's not listed in the ringtones on my 4S. When I open ITunes, and plug in my 4S, I can look at the media on my device. There is a checkmark next to it and a circle to the far left, but it is not on my phone. This has not happened before. Hopefully there will be an answer soon.

I used to synch my Iphone both wirless and via USB, with no problem at all, but this past week I've been trying to transfer some apps, which sometimes doesn't work wirelessly and I keep getting this error, I plug it in and it starts going crazy like if I was plugin and un-plugin the cable really fast, and at the end I get that message. Anybody knows what it is?, the port seems to be working fine with everything else, and the cable charges the iphone normally on the wall.

it seems that for some reason Apple does not allow the iphone to output phone calls through the dock connector. It can output through the headphone jack, internal speaker, or bluetooth but not through the dock connector. This is very inconvenient since it means you need to use a second cable or buy a bluetooth system unnecessarily. I can see why some people would not want phone calls to go out through the dock connector (on a home theater system or something) but it should at least be an option!
I love that my car stereo can control the music playback on the iphone (something it couldn't do if I used the AUX input) but I can't understand why the iphone would be purposely gimped so as not to be able to output calls as well. And since this missing functionality is not widely known, most people won't discover the problem until it is too late and they already purchased their iphone and stereo.

Install the latest iTunes program version on the intended new computer.
In iTunes you can go into the 'Store' tab in the top menu bar (Mac OS X) and choose 'Authorize This Computer' for the new computer and likewise 'Deauthorize This Computer' for the old computer. However unless I'm mistaken, you can authorize up to 5 computers with one iTunes account therefore more than one is allowed.
Important:
I would do a final iPhone Backup & Sync first. Then disconnect iPhone
Then wherever the iTunes Media folder is kept (which for Mac is the folder called iTunes within the Home User folder>Music folder> 'iTunes', copy this same folder to the new computer within the same location (if Mac), replacing any standard iTunes media folder which is created for first time use. By doing this you will be keeping all your iTunes media, songs, Apps, etc.
Run iTunes on the new computer and Authorize (as mentioned above from the Store menu tab) with your account details. Exit iTunes.
Now, not a lot of people would mention this, go into the following folder on the old computer:
Home User folder>Library>Application Support>MobileSync and then copy the folder named 'Backup' within to the exact same location on the new computer (for Mac computers). By doing this you are copying your iPhone's own backup data over to the new computer. The iPhone's backup data contains all data on your iPhone including things like all your Text message, App's user data i.e. App game saves and progression, etc.
Now run iTunes on the new computer and check to see all of your Music, Apps, etc. are all present and ok.
Connect your iPhone and try syncing but don't backup iPhone just yet and uncheck to stop iPhone automatically backing-up. You don't want to overwrite the iPhone backup that you've copied over from the old computer which is now sitting in the appropriate folder in the new computer, just in case there's problems and you need it clean. If your sync worked fine just like on the old computer with all the current info intact on the iPhone and in iTunes, then your all good to go. If the data on the iphone has changed, i.e. it has sync'd the music, apps, etc. but have lots App data and text messages and other settings; then perform an iPhone restore when connecting to iTunes and use the last backup (date and time) that you made from the old computer.
If there are problems then you still have iTunes and it's Media files kept for now on the old computer to resort to, until you succeed.
If all above went well, then you can Deauthorize iTunes on the old computer and your good to go. Try and keep separate backups of your iTunes media folder & iPhone Backup folder.
Hope that helps, but please do get a second opinion in case I have got anything wrong and/or at least keep backups of those folders I mentioned.

With deauthorising the instruction says "Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations." I did not / could not deauthorise before upgrading from my broken hard drive. Thus I remain unsure how to proceed.

Synching iPad, iPhone after iOS 6.0 upgrade

I've been having problems synching my iPhone and iPad via wifi with my Macbook since I upgraded to iOS 6. If I go to "iTunes Wi-Fi Sync" under Settings-->General on either the iPhone or the iPad, it can't find my Macbook, even though the Macbook is on the network and iTunes is open. If I look in iTunes for the iPad or iPhone, they don't show up on the left as they have before. How can I do a Wi-Fi sync? Or is this a known issue with the new iTunes or iOS upgrade? Thanks.

I posted a solution to this in another thread. The issue is likely one of two things. Either one of the mp3's you have specified for an album or slide show has an "&" in the path to it (this was my issue), or one of your keywords in a photo or album has a null character at the end of it. The issue is most likely an "&". Apple is aware of the issue. In my case, a slideshow I created in 2008 had a song with an "&" in the title. No prior updates have had an issue with this, but this one did. I removed that song from the playlist of the slideshow and the problem was resolved.
If it is too difficult for you to go through the slideshows and albums to look for a song like this, you can get the free trial of "iPhoto Library Manager." That tool will try and load your library and like iTunes it will have an issue. The difference is that this utility will tell you what line of the "albums.xml" file has a problem. There are thousands of lines, so this is a big help. You can then right-click on your iPhoto Library file and select "show package contents." Open up the "albums.xml" file in a text editor, preferably one that shows line numbers (I used Text Wrangler) and on the specified line number you'll find a reference to the problem file. If you look above this, you'll see what album or slideshow is being referenced. Deleting this information from the "albums.xml" file will NOT fix the problem. You must go into iPhoto and remove the "bad" mp3 from the album or slideshow. Once you do this, exit iPhoto and run "iPhoto Library Manager" again. If all is well, it will show your albums and thereafter, iTunes and other apps will too. If not, the utility may show you yet ANOTHER line in "albums.xml" that has an issue. Repeat this procedure until no more errors are found by this utility and you'll find iTunes shows everything like it did before.

Whenever I synch my iphone i get an error message the yelp and redlaser apps were not copied to my itunes library because my computer is not authorized. The apps were free and my computer is authorized. Does anyone have an idead what's going on?

Need comparable contact managament to Act by Sage that will synch with iphone

I am having trouble finding a contact management solution similar to Act (which, obnoxiously, does not synch with iphone). Most I am finding are too bloated and complex (ex. Salesforce). I need it to synch with my iphone and Entourage on my MacBook Pro. I am in sales, with an awful memory. I just need somthing to log all interactions with contacts. I do not need to run sales reports, handle campaigns, workflows, etc. Thanks!

Here are just a few suggestions others and by no means is exhaustive, I am sure others will weigh in.
-Just a cursory read of the support forum I have not seen overwhelming complaints that iPhone does not work with windows. It seems mac and windows work equally well with the iPhone
-Ringtones if you like ringtones and could see your self loading your iPhone up go with the mac. Garage Band gives you the ability to make ring tones from your own music collection for free. There are down loads like iToner etc that are unofficial ring tone makers so it makes it a little more difficult to you use.
-As long as memory of your devices exceeds 16 GB (which is as high as the iPhone goes) you will be able to take full advantage of your iPhone. Anything more will not make a difference.
-There is no heavy processing involved with your iPhone syncing to your desktop/laptop. What we are taking about is down loading contact lists music etc. No real graphics rendering is taking place. The iPhone is a seperate system you desktop/laptop to manage your iPhone for preferences downloads etc. So processing speeds do not matter that much.
-iPhone apps work with any iPhone regardless of what OS it is synced to. Even if you would like to use Mobile Me it can utilize some windows programs.
What I would do is figure out which or your personal computers you use most. Then I would set up a Mobile Me account then I would add all other computers you might use to sync with your Mobile Me account and this would solve all of your problems, for 99 bucks/year that is.
