Problem with accent in Title

Hi there,
I'am using Adobe Captivate 6 on a mac, in French.
On each slide I have a Title (area defined in my main slide).
In the Title area, I cannot type accent such ü ö, but é à are working. In other text areas, is it working.
What could I do ? Is it a bug ?
Many thanks for your Help

Yes I tried with antother fonts such as Arial Times New Roman, it is the same.
I experience this also with other placeholders not only title ones, BUT... I found a partial issue.
When I am typing the wanting caracter such as "ü" in the search filed, and then Copy/Paste in my Title Placeholder it works.
I realy think is it a bug.

Cannot help you, just hope someone of the staff pops in. It seems a bit strange however that this issue is only with the Title placeholders... the Spanish users had similar issues all the time. Did you try to change the font?

  • Premiere Elements 13 , Problems with new text/titles

Premiere Elements 13, bisher keine Probleme. Nachdem die Filmlänge etwa 15 Minuten beträgt immer größere Probleme Titel/texte einzugeben. Wartezeiten sind extrem lange oder Programm stürzt ganz ab.

    High ATR,
    Computer running on Widows 7 ,64 Bit System, Service Pack 1, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) X4 945 3.00 Ghz;RAM 8 GB
    Grafikkarte: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
    Project settings are the following:
    General HD 1080i; 29,97frames/second; Video:1920v 1080 H, 30 fps
Video: maximale Bittiefe, Dateiformat i-frame only mpeg, Kompressor MPRG i-Frame, Standbilder optimieren
The video is a mixture  of full HD videos 1920x 1080 .mov and pictures up to 4608x3456 pixels.
When the program crashes I remarked that the main memory RAM(8Gb) was fully used by the premiere program. Might there be a problem?
    Thank you for your service.

  • File problem with accent / CS4 Mac

    Hi
    I"m using CS4 on MAC OSX 10.5.7
I have problem with filename containing accents like 'é'
For example : I browse for a file called 'testé.xml' using kOpenFileDialogBoss, and then get the resulting IDFile. From this IDFile I get the path in a PMString with the function FileUtils::SysFileToPMString.
My problem is that character 'é' has a strange representation, instead of having the correct path I get 'teste<0301>.xml' and if I want to use this path with a fopen function or even to show it into a TextEditBoxWidget it'll fail.
I've look into SnpChooseFile sample and the problem is the same. In the log I also get that strange representation.
    Have you encountered this problem?
    Thanks for your help

Have a look at FileUtils::DecomposeUnicode and NormalizeUnComposedUnicodeChars. Use the first to convert before using i.e. FileUtils::PMStringToSysFile() and the later afetr i.e. FileUtils::IDFileToPMString().

  • Problem with Date / Time Title - Showing Inacurate Information

I use iMovie to make videos for my job. The videos need to have an accurate running time and date displayed on them. I use the "Date/Time" Title option and the running time and date appear on the video. BUT- there is a problem. The time is wrong.
When I import a video clip (from my Panasonic HDC-TM80) into iMovie, I can see the "time and date created" as well as the "length" of the video clip. The time and date created shows the time and date of when the clip ENDS. When I overlay the "Date/Time" Title, it starts the time (at the beginning of the clip) from the created time (which is actually the end).
    Example:
Clip Created (end of clip): 3/23/11 10:30:00am
Length of clip: 12 min. 35 sec.
The actual Date/Time Title should show 10:17:25am at the beginning and runs through 10:30:00am (the end).
But instead it shows 10:30:00am at the beginning and runs through 10:42:35am. This obviously results in a 12 min. 35 sec. inaccuracy.
Is this a problem with the software? Is there a way to contact someone to alert them of this problem? Or am I missing something simple?
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.
-as a quick fix, I adjusted the time and date on the video clips so that it would show the correct info, but I'm usually working with several clips at a time and it is laborious to change each one.

I don't have an answer but was wondering how you like the TM80? Except for the date/time issue, is it compatible with iMovie'11?
    Thanks!

  • WE + CE cause problem with accented characters

While creating a CFF font which contains the WE as well as the CE character set, it causes problems with most of Adobe programs (Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10, Photoshop Elements 2.0) under Mac OS X. Problem: the accented characters get replaced by Helvetica (Photoshop) or Myriad (Illustrator). Only InDesign treats it right.
I tested under Mac OS X 10.2 as well as 10.3; no difference. I tested on 'old machines', but fresh machines as well (machines which didn't have the fonts installed before); no difference. All the same problem.
Deleting the CE characters solves the problem, but yeah, I want to create a CFF font which contains both character sets.
Generating the font in FontLab or FDK doesn't make any difference.
So, what's the solution? Sounds like a mystery.
    Bas

    Two comments:
OpenType/CFF fonts should work to some degree on versions of Mac OS from 8.x on. "Some degree" means that pre-Mac OSX, you need ATM for them to work, and you only get the Roman char set. On Mac OSX, Unicode savvy apps will give you access to the entire charset, but at the moment only Adobe apps support any OpenType features.
About your problem with CE charset: this is a known problem, and is still a mystery. Adam Twardoch has reported the same problem and has supplied some test fonts. I have spent over a day looking over the fonts, and looking into old code, and can't find any problem in the font data. Investigating further is likely to be a several day effort, and will happen, but not soon.

  • Problems with Accented Characters after migrating to UTF8

    Hi,
I am puzzled about the following problem.
We have recently changed the database character set from US7ASCII to UTF8 for the internationalization
purpose. We ran the Character set scanner utility and it did report that some data may pose problems.
We followed the the below mentioned process to convert into UTF8 -
    1) alter database character set utf8
    2) alter database national character set utf8.
Now we find some problem while working with the old data in our application which is java based.
We are getting the following error "java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert between UTF8 and UCS2: failUTF8Conv".
We further analyzed our data and found some interesting things :
    e.g.
    DB - UTF8.
    NL_LANG also set to UTF8.
    Select name from t1 where name like 'Gen%';
    NAME
    Genhve
But when we find out the length of the same data it show like this
    NAME          LENGTH(NAME)          VSIZE(NAME)
    Genhve 4 6
My question is why is it showing length as 4 only and when we try to use a substr function
its extracting like the following :-
    select name,substr(name,4,1) from t1 where name like 'Gen%';
    NAME               SUB
    Genhve          hve
We have execute the above queries on US7ASCII DB and it is working fine, length it shows 6
and using SUBSTR it extracts just 'h' as well.
I also used dump function on the UTF8 Db for the above query,,this is the result :-
    select name,length(name),vsize(name),dump(name) from t1 where name like 'Gen%';
    NAME          LENGTH(NAME)          VSIZE(NAME)               DUMP(NAME)
    Genhve 4 6               Typ=1 Len=6: 71,101,110,232,118,101
I checked a lot with the data and it seems 'h' (accented e) is posing the problem.
I want to know where is the problem and how to overcome this.

We ran the Character set scanner utility and it did report that some data may pose problems. Did you check out the documentation with the scanner ? It explains why and how to deal with problem data.
    The problems are :-
    1. You had invalid data inside your original US7ASCII database . h is not a valid 7 bit ASCII character. All the invalid US7ASCII characters, ( ie. all those that will be lost after doing ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET ) would have been flagged by the scanner.
    2. All non 7 bit ASCII characters need to be converted to their UTF8 counterpart values, and typically these characters will have size expansions too. for example ,from 1 byte to 2 bytes.
    3. ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET UTF8 changes the character set tag in the database header only. No data conversions are performed to your existing data .

  • Problems with Compiz and Title bar,

Hello , i've been trying to setup compiz with arch using the open source drives and i'v gotten it working how ever if i enable the screen decorate it freezes when i start fusion-icon and i have no button or ablity to move the windows in the title bar.
i have a Radeon x1200 series graphics card
also i would like to know how show the drives that are mounted on the desktop
Last edited by livinglifeback (2010-01-06 22:13:30)

So you are using fusion-icon and have Compiz enabled and Emerald set as your window decorator and that's when you run into trouble.  Correct me if I'm misunderstanding your problem, but if I'm not it's probably because none of the Compiz plugins are enabled by default.  Load the Compiz control center and start enabling some of the plugins.  At minimum you need windows, move windows, and plugins like that enabled.  Hope that helps.

  • Adobe Reader Problem with Accents

I have a pdf document which Reader shows all the accented text incorrectly. It makes the whold document look very bad... I think these characters are in Unicode and Reader is mis-reading them.
    Adobe Reader 9.4.6
    Windows 7 Pro
Preferences > International > choose language at application startup (but always comes up in English after restarting AR)

I've had a similar problem on Adobe Reader X and I'm not sure if this is the same with 9.4.6 but here's how I fixed it.
Go to Preferences>International>Same as the operating system
This enables you to use the language your keyboard is set to.
If you don't have the keyboard for the language you want and you have Windows, you can right-click the taskbar and go Toolbars>Language Bar. If the toolbar appears on the taskbar, select the little triangle (Options) at the bottom right and go to Settings>Add. From there you should be able to add your language from the list (i.e. French>Keyboard: French) and switch to it from the Language bar by clicking on the language name abbreviation and selecting it from the list.

  • Converting XML to Spreadsheet - Problem with Accented Characters

I have a program that uses an external program to gathers user account information from Active Directory. The external program is .Net, and I execute it from my Java app, which then collects the XML output and saves it in a String variable. So far so good.
Next it parses the XML and retrieves the values for each field for each user 'record' and stores these values in a String member inside of a class I created called "User".
At the end of the process, the User class data is written to a file in XML format. Still, so far so good. However, using a text editor, any user names that have accented characters in them have an extra space character after the accented character. E.g. accented "e" becomes "e ". At least that is how it appears in the Textpad editor app that I use.
Next I have a class called "XMLToExcel", that creates a spreadsheet using Apache's POI library, reads in the XML records , and writes the values for each field into a cell. Here the name with an accented character gives the message "[Fatal Error] <file name>:2617:23: Invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence."
I'm not sure what I can to do fix this, or even where to fix it. I wouldn't mind losing the accented characted and replacing it with an un-accented one.
Any ideas? I can provide code snippets if that would help.
    -John Gooch

The text looks the same in Notepad and Textpad. However, I manually added the "encoding" tag with the value of "ISO-8859-1", and the converter no longer complains about invalid characters.
I added the encoding tag to my application's output file, so the converter should not complain about it on the next run. Unfortunately, the names have been fixed in Active Directory ( the special character was there by mistake ), so I cannot do a live test to be sure that it is fix.
Thanks for the help, Duke points incoming!

  • Problem with iWeb domain titles

Greetings, I'm hoping someone can help me.  I recently replaced my old website with one that I created in iweb.  However, as you can see from the screenshot, every page has a redundant and rather unnecessary title tab for the website address.  I upload to my host via FTP, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
    aaron

That is perfectly normal in iWeb and if you want it to change, don't name your site with your domain name within iWeb.
iWeb produces a sitename and you cannot leave this blank so when you publish to a local folder you get your site folder with the same name and the index.html file.
All you need do is to re-name your site in iWeb and then publish to a local folder and just upload that new site folder with the new name.  Remember also that iWeb produces two index files, one that sits inside the site folder itself and then the other one that just points in towards the first page of the site and must sit outside the site folder.
This is totally normal in iWeb and is nothing that you have done - just change your site name to something different and more applicable to your site and then you won't get the double domain name.

  • Any common problems with Japanese sub-titles?

    Hi one and all,
I have been asked to take on a project involving adding Japanese sub-titles to a series of videos. The translation will be provided (so I will have access to the Japanese text to create the titles), however I have never worked with Japanese Kanji inside of Premiere Pro (7.2.2). Therefore I was just wondering if anybody in the community could let me know if there are any common pitfalls I need to look out for when using non-Roman alphabets in titles?
I have not imported any fonts for this so far. Kanji appears to display fine in the title window when pasted in and it exports fine as well.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated before I say 'yes' and then find myself in a world of headaches.
    Many Thanks
    Josh

Since post lacks information on what you have exactly done it could be useful to reiterate some points.
In GNOME3 IBus should work from the box, provided you installed input method and added it in system settings (I use kkc). GNOME breaks all other input methods except IBus, so that is your porbably best shot.
In other DE (or we should say more generic method) you should set environment variables and start input method daemon. For KDE and MATE (I start X with sddm) I put in .xprofile

I am no expert on JSF but this is what I know:
"the user inputs accented characters in forms they don't get recognized"
This is a limitation of HTTP, characters sent via GET forms are sent on URLs and must be part of a sub-set of US ASCII characters (Alpha, Numeric, "-", "_", ".", or "~") or encoded. You may have better luck if the form is POST but I can't be positive.
"accented characters don't get displayed on the page"
I have to repeat that I don't know JSF, but from what little research I did, it looks like it tries to use the value of the outputText as either a lookup value or as a label both of which would have the same limitations as above. If you want to display the text then you might find it better to use a bundle to provide localized values with US_ASCII keys.
You may also want to ask the question on the JSF forum.
