PROBLEM WITH AUTO POPULATE IN THE GOOGLE SEARCH BOX

When I type in the google search box it auto populates search terms as it always has. However since upgrading to FF4 when I click on the one I want to go to ... nothing happens. I have to type the full search every time. I don't see this issue anywhere in the forum, am I the only one having this problem?

I usually can eventually access the router, but it is way to much trouble. However, I use my iPad hundreds of times more often than my laptop.

Are you typing http:// in front of the IP address of the router? e.g. http://192.168.0.1

Can't get the Google search box in toolbar

I've been working on getting my new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion functional, and now I've run into a problem I don't seem to find others are having -- I can't get the Google search box into the toolbar. It just won't go there. I've dragged the thing from the View>Customize Toolbar, and I've also tried dragging the whole toolbar, and nothing sticks. I get a little green plus symbol, as if it's adding it to the toolbar, release, and then...nothing. As much as I like Duck Duck Go, there are still things I need the old Goog for, and I'm bewildered by why this won't stick. There don't seem to be any actual settings for it either, just the drag and drop.
This whole setup has been beyond frustrating. I wish I'd never upgraded.

There is no more a separate search field. You enter the Google search in the unified address bar.

Firefox 4 and later versions use a new build-in home page named about:home with a Google search bar on it.
That about:home page only shows some snippets and has a button to restore the previous session if applicable.
If you want a home page with extras then set another page as the home page like www.google.com as used in Firefox 3 versions.

STILL haven't had anyone tell me how to get the Google search box back. All I get is a blank page with the little Google logo in blue on atab. Nothing for images, search etc. In fact I CAN'T Google search any more.
I'm giving it one more week, then will dump Firefox off my computer in favour of Chrome. Sorry.

With the Google search box installed with Firefox 4.01, when I open the drop down list of previous searches and click on on to access a previous search topic instead of opening that site, nothing happens.

So, you do not see any fonts bold that shouldn't be bold?
What are your current default font settings?
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size in case you need a larger font, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

When using the Google search box in the upper right corner, midway through typing the search subject, Firefox switches to the Yahoo search box in the middle of the screen. This is very annoying and happens on both home and work computers.

Seems like Yahoo is the new Firefox default browser.

The clear history in the google search box no longer works

I'm using firefox 3.6.16. Suddenly the clear history link on the google search bar is not working. I can clearch history under tools but not within the search bar ,I don't know how to correct the problem. Can someone tell me what to do?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache

When typing in a google search, nothing happens. I try hitting return or clicking on search and nothing happens. I can however search by going into Advanced Search and retyping my query. I also have to retry repeated now to get an active window when I want to compose an email in aol. The window will pop up and nothing is active. This has been happening for a couple weeks now. If you can't get AOL to talk you thru it, then it's time to stop using AOL.
You are paying extra for a useless service. You already pay (and HAVE TO PAY) to the internet company that gives you the internet modem and conneciton to the internet, and they are be giving you 1-5 free email addresses with that account. (call them if you never set them up).
There is no guarantee you don't have a problem with your mail setup on your computer, but this is the right time for you to set up your [email protected] accounts, download all your AOL mail including your address book (FROM AOL'S WEBISTE via Safari) to your hard drive, make sure you are using an external drive with Time Machine and doing daily if not hourly backups, and start sending emails to your friends and family and business from the new mail account(s).
Otherwise you can call someone who saves computers and AOL accounts for a living and pay them $25- $100 hour....

The cursor in the Google search box flashes but is not activated

I asked this question on the Google forum but was directed to the Mozilla forum. i know I am not the only one with this problem, but I have not seen a solution. I have no extensions installed. i don't understand how a cursor can appear activated without actually working. i have to click in the search box before the cursor starts to work.
Is this caused by Google or Firefox?

In the google search box, when i click the dropdown suggestion, it does not register the suggestion in the box, what goes wrong

i have just upgraded my firefox 3 to firefox 4, with V3 i can click the dropdown suggestion and search, now with V4 the clicked suggestion does not go to the search box. i have used the search tool and ticked the enable box, still it has not worked.

Can the Google search box in Safari be made to use the UK Google search page?

I've only just realised, (after nearly eight months of Mac ownership!), that my Google search results seem to be rather US-oriented.
I think this is because the search box in Safari, which I do have set to Google as my default, is using the US Google.com search engine instead of the Google.co.uk one.
Am I correct in thinking this? And, if I am, is there any way of tweeking Safari to use the UK version please?

Not only does it already list a number of search engines and regions, but you can also add any other search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:

Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

I was able to get iCab to do the restricted ask.uk search in a snap, and then used that information to add a restricted search engine to Shiira, but I don't use AcidSearch and don't know how/if it deals with the addition of new and restricted search engines.
