Problem with "Capture Server Model from the Database"

I've installed Oracle-Developer-Suite 10g and Designer 9.0.4.5.6. The repository databse is Oracle 10g and the application database is Oracle 9i (about 700 tables for the application). After I started the Designer Editor, I got the follwoing message:
"No network notification service has been configured for this Repository instance. A desktop-only notification has been started."
What does it mean? What's wrong with the configuration? How can I avoid this problem?
Then I tried to "Capture Server Model from the Database". It took hours to read the data from the database. After reading the data, the following message occurs:
"138 overlaps could not be eliminated by AutoLayout as there is insufficient room to layout the items. Select a large area and retry"
I can not save the uncommited data into the repository.

1. Designer 9i was made to capture 9i DB functionality. So no it will not capture full 11 DB functionality.
2. Yes I have had some problems capturing from an 11DB and have written a bug on it.
     Bug.7138247     (74) CANNOT DESIGN CAPTURE A TIMESTAMP(6) FROM 11G DB:
this is fixed in Designer 10.1.2.5

    It should unzip if you double-cick.
    What are you seeing happen when you do that?
    Select a .zip file in the Finder and Get Info (cmd-i). What is set for it to Open With. It should be Archive Utility.

    I had been having a similar problem on Lion with Safari pdf files despite downloading the latest Adobe Reader XI.
    I would constantly get the same messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. And I would get a blank page when I tried to print the pdf if I tried printing from the Safari web page using File - Print from the top toolbar on my laptop.
    Then I came across the grey Safari lozenge with action icons.
    This allowed me, without downloading the pdf, to print the pdf file direct from the Safari page by using the Print icon on the grey lozenge that appears centrally three quarters down the screen.
    Then I discovered that if I save the pdf using the Save icon from this same grey lozenge on the Safari page I can open and print this pdf version from my desktop.
    I've tested it with a couple of different pdf files and these methods work using the grey lozenge icons but the same pdfs files don't work using File - Save As on the Tool Bar.

  • Problem with executing work item from the inbox

    Hello All,
       I'm able to send mails from R/3 to Outlook along with the attachment to execute the work item directly from the outlook.
    However upon clicking the Exectute work Item.sap file I get an sap gui popup with the description " Not all data for SAP  GUI shortcut is available. System description and GUI start parameter are unknown. Entering the missing data."
    Clicking on the OK button, leads to another window for SAP logon details. After I chose the right system and on Clicking OK, it opens up the logon prompt. Entering the logo info opens up the work item correctly.
    We are on ECC 5.0 with SAP GUI 640 patch level 18 on it. Any suggestions about what am I missing to directly jump into an sap screen provided a session already is open in SAP.
    Thanks and Regards
    Uday

    Hello Uday,
    Sounds like something is wrong in the SAPLogon <i>on the client PC</i>. The system sends out a shortcut, and when it's opened it does not relate to a unique entry in the saplogon. Either it's called differently or you have two entries for the same system with different parameters.
    Hope that helps,
    Mike

  • DB2 - Oracle: problem with capturing source model

    After starting the capture process, the logging window shows a line
    "Capturing loaded table: <table-name>" for each table, and one line
    "Capturing Tables Loaded: 164, Tables NOT Loaded: 0", which sounds about right.
    It then prints messages about loading groups, and finally the two lines:
    "Capturing Loading Table Aliases"
    "Capturing Loaded table alias: CL"
    At that point, it stops. There are 3 buttons at the bottom,
    "Suspend Logging", "Abort", "Help".
    The OMWB Java client shows "Loading Source Model..." in the "UDB7 Source Model" tab, and "No objects have been mapped" in the "Oracle Model" tab.
    Clicking on the "Abort" button in the loggin window results in the message "unable to abort, please restart application".
    I have no experience at all with the omwb tool, greatly appreciate any feedback.
    Thanks !

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Problem with capturing of baselines

    Hi !
    I have a problem with capturing of baselines- when the SQL is called from PL/SQL code...
    For example if I execute in SQL* Plus session
    alter session set optimizer_capture_sql_plan_baselines = true;
    exec dbms_mview.refresh('VIEW_CLIENT_KONTO', 'C');
    exec dbms_mview.refresh('VIEW_CLIENT_KONTO', 'C');
    nothing happens ..I do not find the baseline in dba_sql_plan_baselines...
    ========================================================
    optimizer_use_sql_plan_baselines = TRUE..of course and I can capture baselines for plain SQL -only not if SQL ist invoked from PL/SQL..
    Now, nowere in documentation could I find that capturing does not work from PL/SQL ..that would, in my opinion, be sderious disadvantage- so much code in the database runs as PL/SQL..
    We habe Oracle 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    optimizer_features_enable = 11.2.0.3
    What could be worng here..did I forget certain parameter or setting. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Are baselines created for sql statements executed from PLSQL? Yes.
    Are baselines created for internal statements from DBMS_MVIEW? No.
    Why? Don't know. But I think it's expected behaviour.
    Is there a convoluted way of applying a baseline to the internal refresh statement? Yes.

  • Selecting a one row from the database is not working

    Hi all I am having a small problem with getting a row from my database to show up. Here is the code for the search that I want to do
                            String item; String columnName; String result; columnName = (String)searchBox.getSelectedItem(); item = searchField.getText().trim(); String tableName = "employee"; if(item == null || item.equals("")){ System.out.println("No Text entered"); }else{ try { result = sql.retrieve_From_Database(columnName, tableName, item); System.out.println(result); } catch (SQLException e1) { sql.displayErrors(e1); }
    Here is the code for the retrieve_From_Database function.
    protected String retrieve_From_Database(String columnName, String tableName, String item) throws SQLException{ ResultSet rs = null; Statement sm = null; sm = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY); rs = sm.executeQuery("select * from " + tableName + " where " + columnName + " = " + item); result = rs.getString(columnName); if(result == null){ System.out.println("Error in retrieve"); return new String("No results in DB"); }else{ System.out.println(result); return result; } }
    When I run the first code I get an error of SQL Exception: Unknown column 'anthony' in 'where clause'. But yet when I run the query of
    Select * from employee where FirstName = 'anthony'
    within the mysql commandline I get the proper result. So my question is why when running this in the command line do I get the proper result but when running the code I do not?

    Hi. The problem is clear in the original post. The OP is trying to use PreparedStatement
    parameters to fill out general portions of the SQL query, instead of only data values.
    He is hoping to put in a column name. That will never work. Only data values are settable.
    HTH,
    Joe WeinsteinActually, no. There's no PreparedStatement there at all. It appears that his problem is that, while the working query entered directly in the client is
    Select * from employee where FirstName = 'anthony'the query he's constructing in his code is
    Select * from employee where FirstName = anthonySince there are no quotes around anthony, it's treated as a column name.
    If he had properly used PreparedStatment as suggested in reply 1, that would not be an issue. My guess, however, is that when he claims he's using PS, it's as Tolls suggested a couple of posts ago--he's simply replacing the Statement with a PreparedStatement, but not using the parameters as suggested.
    The wrong thing for OP to do at this point is see my above comment about the quotes and explicitly add them in the query string. The right thing to do, of course, is to actually use PS's parameters.

  • Problem with downloading individual songs from an already purchased album to iPhone

    Hi All,
    I'm having problems with downloading single songs from the "purchased" list onto my iPhone. I reset my phone and went to redownload my music, however i only want to download certain songs from different albums which in the past i've been able to do by navigating to the purchases section of the itunes app, then opening each album and selecting the cloud like icon by each song i want.
    Having tried this today, i get the list of songs however the all have a "Purchased" next to them which is greyed out and the only way to download anything is to get the whole album. I've not got iTunes match on and can't think of any settings i've changed, can any suggest what i need to do to enable me to just get a selection of songs?

    Actually Michael I know exactly how to delete.. The iPhone would not let me swipe to the left to delete the individual song, so I went to the album view and did it there.. The issue I am having is a bug because it removed 3/4 of the albums availablity off my iPhone.. You post proved no help because it is basic troubleshooting which, if you read my post, I have already done.. I did however figure out how to fix my issue on my own.. Basically I had to remove the album from my iTunes on my computer and upload it again to iTunes Match..

  • FMLE encoding stopped: Problem with capture device. Incorrect samples given by the device.

    Hi Support,
    I am trying to use FMLE to encode and stream video from an Axis P1346 IP camera, via Axis' Streaming Assistant software, to a Wowza server.
    Everyting appears to be working perfectly and the encoding and resultant stream quality is excellent. Sometimes after a few hours and sometimes after just a few minutes, the encoding will stop with the following error:
    Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Session Stopped
    Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Problem with capture device. Incorrect samples given by the device. Stopping encoding session.
    I have attached a recent log of a session that only lasted a few minutes - do you have any ideas on how to resolve this instability?

  • Problem with pdf display downloaded from application server

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with displaying pdf downloaded from application server (saved in BINARY MODE).
    I am getting the pdf output of adobe form in FPFORMOUTPUT-PDF as rawstring back to my program and then converting that rawstring into binary form using the function module SCMS_BINARY_TO_STRING.
    Now, when I export the data to presentation server directly using cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download, the pdf is downloaded properly.
    However, when I save the data to application server file by looping at the internal table obtained from SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY and using TRANSFER, and subsequently downloading the file in "unconverted format" from AL11 to my desktop, I am getting a "blank" pdf file (with the same number of pages as the one downloaded using gui_download).
    I have tried different encodings during download but in those cases i get corrupted pdf message. only the default option of INTIAL value seems to work.
    I am forced to believe that there is a problem in my code which saves the data to app server but I cant find any solution that is logical. Any solution to this would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sasi

    used a program to read the file from appl server and then downloading it to desktop.

    I have added both the Connection Broker server and the 2 remote desktop servers (also Windows 2012 R2 Servers) to the "Windows Authorization Access Group" in the domain according to this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331951
    But it still does not work :-(
    I keep getting same error....
    Any idea what I might be missing ?

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Firstly please let us know by which method you have setup RDS role. You can have more advantage and feature when you will install with Standard deployment instead of Quick start deployment. So if you have setup with quick start option then you can try installing
    with standard type and check the result.
    In addition, please check SQL server database is properly configured for RDS server. Also check that domain controller properly communicates. Kindly go through below thread for more information.
    Server 2012 RDS - Remote
    Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user domain\username. Error: NULL
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

    The easiest is to use UTL_MAIL - available from 10g onwards. If you're on 11g, you also need an ACL (Access Control List) entry to allow PL/SQL code to step outside the database and connect to an external server.
    UTL_MAIL uses UTL_SMTP. You can use UTL_SMTP directly, but then you need to understand the SMTP protocol and how to correctly construct Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) e-mail bodies. Not difficult - but something that many developers seem insistent to remain ignorant about.
