Problem with deactivating InDesign

Hi
I can't deactivate Indesign. The MS licensing server has failed so there are no programs working on this computer. I can open InDesign but then I get an error message that I need to download application manager which I have done and it fails and says I need to download support advisor which also fails to install.
Can I remove the program or wont that deactivate it.
How can I clear the activation without using InDesign deactivation feature?
Thankful for help.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Multiple Problems with PDF InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat Reader

I create proof books with a blend of Adobe Bridge & InDesign.
Here is my work flow: I will BOLD the errors I am having and need help with.
Step 1.) I create contact sheets in Bridge and save them as PDF's
Problem with Bridge ( I have another posting for this thread as well under Bridge) I cannot save PDF's larger than 400ish photos at 300ppi (important for my printer) without it saving as a blank PDF. COMPLETELY EMTPY! So I have to split up my photos into groups of 400 or less photos then patch them back together.
Problem with Acrobat: If I patch those PDF’s back together with Adobe Acrobat (a suggestion from another person on here) they save great but I get an error when I try to import them in indesign. The error reading: ERROR. Cannot determine page count.
Please open the PDF file in Acrobat, do a “Save As…” and try again. (99)
Step 2.) I use a script (MultiPageImporter2.2.1.jsx) to import the PDF's into Indesign. (if saved as one pdf in acrobat I get the above error)
Problem With InDesign: I run this importer script in InDesign to create my books with a template I use from my printers. Well since I have to import multiple pdf with multiple pages ( because I can’t piece them together without the above error. Then I have this problem:
I place a pdf with 1-226 pages in. I start this on page 1.
I place the next pdf with 1-141 pages in. I start this on page 227.
An error pops up that says I MUST start my import on page 226!!!!!!!!!! I don’t want to import on page 226 because I have two photos on that page!
I tried it several ways and no matter what I loose my last page of my first import.
PLEASE someone help me! I feel like I might be doing something really silly but I’ve spent 7.5 hours today working on this books with error after error.
I have done all the updates on my computers and nothing works. I use two macs and both have the same errors. I have a mac-book Pro | snow leopard and a Imac | snow leopard.

All your problems seem to stem from the PDFs that you are making from Bridge. What you are describing should be perfectly possible, but the fact that Bridge doesn't want to make a PDF with more than 400 photos and it all goes downhill from there makes me suspect Bridge.
Here's a plugin that may help? Looks pretty cheap for what it does.
Apart from that I'd try to clean up the PDFs that Bridge is producing if Indesign doesn't like them. One way would be to print to a new PDF, after you've combined them as necessary.
As to the last pronlem you mention, where it forces you to place on page 226, have you tried creating a blank page 227 first, before you try placing?

Problems with sharing InDesign files on Windows server

Hi there. We have four designers that are working with InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5. Three of these designers are working on Macs running OSX 10.8. The other is working on a Windows 7 machine. All of their files are stored on a Windows Server 2008 R2 file server. The problem is that whenever one of them makes updates to some files in a project and they save it, the others are unable to checkout any assignments from within either InDesign or InCopy. When they try to checkout the files to make changes, they get the following error message: "In use by Unknown in Adobe InDesign from document <file name>.indd"
The strange thing is that their files used to be stored on a Server 2003 file server and they never had any problems. But since we moved them over to this Server 2008 R2 machine I can't help but wonder if it is a problem with the server. In either case, I wanted to ask this question in here to get any opinion on what this could be.

Problem with German InDesign CS4 Trial

Since the last week im trying to use the Adobe InDesign CS4 Trial Version on my Computer but i does not work really. I have downloadet the German Version but after the installation it runs in Englisch and the Toolbars on the left and the right side are missing. Before i'm using the CS3 Version at the same Computer and it works perfekt. I tried the CS4 Trial on an different Computer in our office and it works perfekt but this Computer have Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
I read in the System requirements that Vista 64bit is not zertified but why does the CS3 work perfekt and the CS4 make those Problems?
I hope anybody can held me......

Windows Vista business 64bit
PHENOM Quad Core 2,4Ghz Prozessor
8 GB RAM

I have been struggling with bookmarking issues for years here on CS4. I am not bookmarking text frames, simply bookmarking pages, but I have been having problems as described. I thought I researched it thoroughly online, but I was so relieved to find and try this option today.
I have a 50 page InDesign price book. Every page is bookmarked. After exporting as a PDF some of the bookmarks work fine and some take me to the wrong page. In InDesign CS4, I can click through the bookmarks and everything works as expected. Every bookmark takes me to the page I assigned it to...perfect! However, once exported as a PDF I have issues. In Preview (Mac OS 10.8) or Adobe Reader, some bookmarks are fine and some direct me to the incorrect page. I tried Adobe Reader thinking maybe the issue was with Preview, but not only is the problem with both programs--they error consistently. The bookmarks take me to the same incorrect page in both Preview and Reader.
Exporting as a INX file and reimporting into InDesign CS4 is the only way I have been able to get this to work. I originally switched to InDesign for two reasons: 1. I was experiencing the same problem in Adobe Acrobat when assigning bookmarks so I hoped using another program would help. 2. I am rebuilding the price book page by page in InDesign. (Some pages just pull from a PDF document and some are original--created in InDesign CS4. Eventually all pages will be InDesign original files. I'm not sure those details matter, but that is what I have for content in my document.)

Problem with deactivating / deinstalling filevault

I have had filevault on my main user account. Due to problems with disappearing sidebar folders described elsewhere, I created a new admin account and moved all of my data to this account. I have not essentially emptied the old account, logged out to recover space and I now want to deactivate Filevault in the old account. But the process halts with an error message and in the console system log this string is found:
athrxproc: NO RX Packets for 5 contiguous interrupts first DS Vaddr 0x4f36c000 Paddr 0x8da5000
Any hints on what to do?

Turning off Appletalk fixed those entries in my system log (it was enabled unknowingly on airport and the built-in ethernet) and sped up the log in well...
I'm not sure on the constant dropping, but I've been experiencing that, and will report back if turning apple talk off improved that situation too.

1) I just bought an annual subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud. Afterwards i saw that Adobe offers some discount to educators or staff that work at schools. I work at a school in Luxembourg. I can provide the relevant certificate. I was wondering where and how could i submit in order to receive the discount .
2) I downloaded and installed Adobe Creative Cloud in my computer . I installed two products : Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. I can use Adobe Photoshop without problem , but i cannot use Adobe InDesign. It asks for a license.

Problem with saving InDesign newsletter to a print ready PDF in CS6

I am using a PC and created a 4 page newsletter in InDesign, CS6. I have made this newsletter over and over in previous version of CS products and never had a problem. But with CS6, I cannot get it to save as a print-ready PDF with the bleeds and markups the printer needs.
I have the Document Setup set to a bleed of 0.25 all around. I have tried Printing to PDF, Exporting, and Print Booklet. Printing to PDF doesn't show the bleeds and markups. Exporting doesn't show the bleeds and markups. Print Booklet only shows the bleeds and markups if I shrink the file down with a Scale to Fit...which won't work for the printer. I have tried everything thing I can think of, tried changing all kinds of printer settings...I seriously have no idea why this isn't working.
Any suggestions?

Well, the obvious thing is to make sure you've got "Use Document Bleed Settings" checked in the export dialog AND that you've got trim marks turned on. YOu should save a custom preset to do this along with the other settings your printer requires.

Problem with Deactivating iCloud-Features

Trying out some solutions fixing the battery-drain.problem i´ve found another problem.
by trying to deactivate the icloud-features my iphone 4 hangs up.
does anyone else got this problem o anyone with a solution here?

Tom, thank you for taking the time to check whether this works for you. I could have sworn it was working on my projects as recently as a few weeks ago, but perhaps I just didn't notice that when previewing the book on the iPad it was reverting to standard lettering.
I'm not using Zapfino in the book, but I knew it would be a good example since it is a default font. I was under the impression that iBooks supported OpenType features because they allow selection of special typography features in iBooks Author, those features display in iBooks Author, and there's some mention of turning on/off ligatures at this support site iBooks Author: Change text font, size, color, alignment, and spacing (see 2nd to last paragraph) ... ligatures being in the same panel as the other options.
However, if it doesn't work for you and doesn't work for me... it probably just doesn't work!

Problem with installing InDesign

my problem is, when it starts to connect with my adobe-profile, it can´t get an internet connection, while I am really sure, that there is connection (because I tried to surf during the installation and it appears that it is connected). Then I say, connect later and it lets me finish. I try to start the programme and the programme wants to verify the serial number, but again it says, that it can´t get the connection. What is wrong?

Problems with opening Indesign CS5 document in CS4

I have the CS4 Design Premium Academic package and am working with another graphic designer who uses CS5 - Indesign. When trying to open her InDesign CS5 file that she exported to the CS4 format I received the following message - " cannot open brochure.indd. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign. I called Adobe and they suggested to export the CS4 file to the idml format. We did that and when I opened the file many formatting features- such as no margins or grids appeared. Any suggestions - I don't want to upgrade to CS5 if I don't need to. Also, any suggestionsthe cheapest place to upgrade if I need to?

She didn't export it for CS4. If she had it wouldn't be an INDD file. She needs to export to IDML and you need to realize that this document may not look like it does in CS5.
You do need to upgrade if you want to work successfully with this other designer. Worth noting, in case you don't, is that you cannot upgrade individual components of the suite. Personally, I recommend Design Premium as the best bang for the buck.

Is there a problem with updating Indesign v.9 Digital Publishing Suite InDesign CC

I've recently updated Indesign CC and I want to update my DPS tools. It's telling me an update is required through the help menu but it's greyed out suggesting it's already up to date.
I've re-installed CC but I get the same problem. I've also downloaded AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-CC-27.0.0 but that won't install.
Can anyone help? I'm running a Mac on OS 10.8.3

In the Folio Builder panel I get the message:
DPS
A software update is required to use Digital Publishing Suite. Please go to the Help menu and select Updates to get the required software.
However when I go to the help menu (Help > updates) as requested, updates is greyed out.
I downloaded the AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-CC-27.0.0 patch and tried to install and update as I used to in CS5.5 and 6 but this throws up an update failed dialogue box saying update supressed by administrator. I am an administrator for my machine so I'm not sure what and where the problem is.

There were a few other things that I had to make sure of also.
Solution:
Images placed in InDesign that were made in Photoshop or another program should be in ckmy format. The background needs to be in the same ckmy. Transparency blend must be set at CKMY, then Transparency Flattener presents must be set at Rasters/Vectors: 0 Line art and text resolution: 600, Gradient and mesh resoltuion 300. Exporting to PDF must be done under present PDF/X-4:2008 Compatibility: Acbrobat 7.
