Problem with dv7 laptop

When I turn my computer on, it starts a "file system on C"
I haven't turned on my laptop in over a week and a half.
After a "System Recovery" it goes straight to the disk check
Also states: "system volume on disk is corrupt"

I understand that when you boot your system, it goes to a repair and then comes back with the error "system volume on disk is corrupt".
Disconnect all USB devices not required.
I suggest you boot into Safe Mode with networking.
Entering Safe Mode
At the command prompt or run command type sfc /scannow and press enter.
This will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them.
If this is unsuccessful, I would test the hard drive before  you doing a factory recovery.
Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
During the recovery process, you will have an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not done one previously, I suggest you do one now.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)
I hope this has helped.

Some progess I see. To be honest, i would not waste your time with trying to connect using wireless.
You are likely to get poor connections and dropping out.
If its working using a cable, then there is no need to bother with giving me the network settings, bu see how it goes, because sometimes giving the TV a static IP address can give better results.
There is an example of a couple of powerline adapters on the diagram below. Just ignore the network switch unless you want to connect other devices which are near to the TV.

Every time I try to download iTunes onto my Vaio laptop it only downloads partially, then claims to be finished. Is this a problem with my laptop or with iTunes?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Problems with my laptop starting - Satellite P745, Windows 7

For the past few months I've been having a very strange problem with my laptop. I have a Satellite P745-S4380 with Windows 7. There are times that I can shut it down and turn it on with no problems. However, a majority of the time when I shut my computer down, it will not turn back on. When I push the power button, the following happens:
    the power button lights up
    the fan starts running
I never see the "Toshiba" screen and my computer does not start
The only way I've gotten my computer to turn back on is to either:
    1) unplug my power and let my computer run in this "fan running, power light on" mode until the battery dies - then generally when I plug it back in, it will start right up
    or
    2) wait 5 to 7 days, then it will start right up
I don't use it on a daily (or even weekly) basis because I am on the computer all day at work, but I would have to guess this started around June. I'm trying to determine if this is something like a motherboard failure, or if it's some sort of software/hardware update that is not setting well with my machine. Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas on things to even try troubleshooting? I think it may be related to an update or setting (maybe because I don't want it to be the motherboard) because even if I go to reboot it at times, it will shut down but will not come up and it will get hung in the same state as I described above. If my motherboard is bad, would it act like this? I'm at a loss with where to even start...
Something else to mention is that if I put it in "hibernate" mode, I haven't seen this issue.

Hi ! There are many discussions about whether you should shut your PC down or just leave it run. I never allow my PC to go into sleep or hibernate mode. I allow my monitor to shut down after 15 minutes of no activity. I turn my wireless mouse off when I'm done with my PC. When I return to my PC, I turn my mouse on and my PC starts up immediately. That is the way I use my lap top. It's a choice for you to make. I have no proof it it is good or bad practice. Of course this would need to be changed if your operating only on battery.

I had problems with my laptop which have now been fixed but I am now unable to download or connect to my Itunes account through any of my devices?

An iTunes account is nothing more than a login and password.
The media is only where the user put it.  Restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the backup of the computer.

  • Problem with dv7-6140ew - is this a processor problem ? (i7-2630qm).

    Hello all
    As I mentioned in title I have a problem with hp pavilion dv7-6140ew (i7-2630qm) Win7 64bit.
This is a brand new laptop I bought him few days ago
Of course I notified this problem to the hp support center. But they did not know what it could be.
But may someone will know where the problem is.
I would like also to ask whether this is the normal behaviour?
I have terrible interrupting (It looks similar to old problem with HDD witchout DMA) I saw, that it took place while the kernel process suddenly takes the large amount of the processor space. For instance
by the mcAffee process (the antivirus) but it takes place also with other
(eg at uninstalling of the software). But not always - There is on no rule.
I recorded the example-film with 3dmark03 (I added the music from winamp) and in 0:25 the McSvHost.exe process start - which is visible on the photo.
    Check my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsV861xbVbw
    and the photo https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Spo2l-5sr3Y/Tpg7l8t2XII/AAAAAAAAC1s/3elBg68MWV4/s720/IMGP4330.JPG
    Bios version F.1A, 2011-07-22
    Windows 7 64bit
    Processor i7-2630qm
    4GB ram
    Radeon 6770M

Another issue, that I found, is that, If process takes suddenly large amount of processor space in each of 4 core (8 with turbo boost) the error take place. For instance mcAfee process McSvHost sometimes cause such error. But it disappear when I change colligation in task manager for this process to be used by for instance one core.
Does anybody knows what is going on and what cause it ?

  • Problem with ASUS laptop and Windows 8

    Hii
I have a problem with my ASUS vivo LAPTOP. Its running on Windows 8 and going pretty well, but sometimes when I use the Google chrome browser and open multiple pages the computer freezes and does nothing which requires me to shut it down by long pressing
    the power button.
The question is what is the problem and does this process of long pressing the power button to shut it down harm my computer Hardware or Software?

Are you sure the issue is happening only when you use Google chrome. Then, it is an issue with the browser. Remove chrome and then re-install and check if that fix the issue.
Regarding force shut down is only meant to be used in emergency situations. If the computer is forced to shutdown everytime, this can lead to formation of bad sectors in hard disk and reduce its life span.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems with my laptop Windos 8.1 with 4K monitor

I've read about the new versions of After Effects CC resolve the problems with resolution in 4K monitors in Windows 8.1 OS but it isn't my case. It is supposed my After Effects is updated at the last version (2014.2), because the Aplication Manager doesn't let me to update newer versions. What can I do? Will I can resolve this or I will have to desesperate because my new laptop - that was an exciting investment -  make me life harder instead of make my fly with the Adobe programs?
Thank you all for your attention and forgive my grammar if it's wrong.

  • I am having internet problems with my laptop

    Hi all,
I am having some WIFI problems lately. my wireless internet keeps failing while i am playing online. its for like a 5-15 seconds disconnect. The problem isn't on my router or modem because my friend is not disconnecting.
I tried to update my driver but i don't know which one to pick because there are like 6 drivers.
The laptop i use is a Msi gp60 2pe leopard.

Hi Vliegbanaan, I am experiencing the exact same difficulties with the exact same laptop!
I'm not sure if it's due to overheating, or the wrong drivers, or what not. Whilst I am playing, say League of Legends, one or twice every couple of games I lose the internet whilst still being connected to the router. It is definitely not a problem with the router as the internet still works on my phone whenever this problem occurs. This problem started occurring around about 2 months ago I should say.
    Please help someone!

  • Problem with moving laptop

Whenever I move my laptop a little (like when I'm using it on my lap and shift my position) a message appears saying that the HDD was affected.  Is this normal or dangerous?  It gives me the option to not have this message appear again.  What should I do?

i was messing around with some laptops at staples with the HDD shock protection that you are talking about. it seems very stupid since you cant move it with out the message. i tried typing on it and the message came up. if you turn the message off it wont harm anything but see if there is something to turn the sensitivity down. as long as your not dropping or hitting your laptop hard i see no reason to have it show the message. but that is just my opinion. its your laptop and your the only one that knows whether or not you want to know every time you move your laptop

  • Problems with B580 laptop

Hello Im not sure if this is the right thread from this but somebody might be able to help me out, over the past while my Lenovo B580 has had a problem uploading any real sort of media, youtube videos or photos etc, im wondering is there a driver or something that i need to download to fix this? I've also been having problems with the USB ports they seem to only work when they want to not all the time. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Peterlucey,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community. To be honest I'm not entirely sure what the machine is acting the way it is but looking at your case I would suggest you to update the BIOS from the link below. Just download the BIOS and run the application and follow through the instruction like you normally would any other software.

  • USB card reader problem with T430 laptop (Win 8)

    I have a Thinkpad T430, running Windows 8 with 16G memory.
I have recently encountered problems with a USB card reader. I thought the reader was faulty so I bought a new one, but that one fails as well. It makes no difference which socket it is in.
After being plugged in for a few seconds, the 'drives' the reader sets up start to flash in the 'Computer' window - it seems they are continually being disconnected and reconnected.
Disabling USB 3.0 in the BIOS makes no difference. One card reader is USB 2 and the other is USB 3
Changing the power settings so the USB selective suspend is disabled makes no difference.
I am pretty sure that it was OK a month ago when I last used a card reader (the machine is about 2 months old).
    What is going on?
    Any ideas?
    Thanls,
    Michael

    Ok Mr. Micheal,
One thing you can attempt to do is download the SmartCard Reader Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit) - ThinkPad on the Lenovo website. The path you need to take is listed below.
    1. Go to the Lenovo website (www.lenovo.com)
    2. Select the support link at the top of the page
    3. Your going to see for windows listed select the type of support you need, so select drivers and software
    4. Its going to ask for your machine information so enter in your machine type or your product ID
    5. Scroll down to camera and card reader and open the link
    6. Download SmartCard Reader Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit) - ThinkPad
    7. Follow the set up wizard and one the driver is installed reboot your machine
Please respond once this action is performed and let me know if this happens to resolve your issue. Thank you
