Problem with formulas

     i am using BAPI_BANK_GETLIST a predefined
       bapi , and the ouput port is dragged to a chart
          and   iam not able to provide the data series ,
          its asking me to provide the formula , and
          iam trying to view a combo chart , and
          when iam trying to put the formula there are two
             thing shown DATA FIELDS and INTPUT FIELDS
             input fields contain bank_country and max_rows
         and under data fields bank_country , bank_key,
                bank_name,city
             can any one help me , what is the formula i need to put a general , that i can get COMBO chart as output

Hi Murali,
BAPI_BANK_GETLIST return 4 fields which data type is string.
Data series, however, has to be a number.
You have to convert the field using NVAL function.
For example NVAL(@bank_key) will return the numeric value of the string which bank_key holds.

here is some idea.. here i have taken expample dates 1)notification creation date and 2) notification completion.
1st:in the query designer at key figure coloumn create
one local formula.in that local formula create formula
variable with replacement path.in that take reference character
notification completion.in the next tab take replace ment
as key.in the last tab select "date".
2nd: do the same thing for the notification creation date.
3 rd : create 3 rd local formula and do the substraction
for the first 2 local formulas.
4th:create codition on the difference which u have find with
on that condition u can create one user entry varibale.
5th:while u defining the query put these 2 dates,i,e
notification completion, notification creation date in the character block.
If not system will ignore the formula variable which u created in
above steps.

Distribution and collection wizard problem with formulas

Hi gurus,
I've an input schedule I want to distribute through the distribution wizard, this input schedule, has some rows where the user should enter data and some rows with formula using the data the user filled before.
When I collect the data I notice that the wizard only collect the user entered and remain untouched the data from the formulas.
If i enter the data in the input schedule directly (without using the distribution wizard) it works and the system send to the database the data I entered and the data from the formulas.
I activated the parameter REFRESH_CACHE_BEFORE_COLLECT, but it doesn't make any difference.
Any idea.

Cell formatting problem with formula

I have a table in my spreadsheet document, which contains working time details of my job. Column B is time of beginning, column D is time of stop. Both B and C columns are formatted as "date and time". In column E, there is a formula "=C2-B2", and so on for other rows, formatted automatically as "duration".
After a several rows (closing a month), in column F (at F14), there is a SUM formula of column E "=SUM(E2:E14)".
I tried to calculate the total sum for my monthly invoice at G14, with formula "=F14*6000", and i formatted this cell (G14) as Currency, but i see this cell as duration, after formatting the cell as currency too.

Numbers is a bit strange for me now, but i learn quickly...

Problem with formula in the query

HI ,
In cube I have 2 fileds EU date and US date .
For example :
In cube EU date =07/02/2008
US date = 23/02/2008
In the query we have a formula with these 2 fields
formula is DUE date = DATE ( ( 'Enter 1 = US; 2 = EU - Asia' == 1 ) * 'Due date US' + ( 'Enter 1 = US; 2 = EU - Asia' == 2 ) * 'Due date EU' )
In the varaible screeen we have a '"Enter 1 = US; 2 = EU - Asia' == 1"
So if u enter 1 it takes EU date and display as due date if u enter 2 it take US date and display as due date.
Problem is :
When we give "'Enter 1 = US; 2 = EU - Asia' == 1"---this value 2
in the report in some cases we get due date as 02/07/2008 instead of 07/02/2008. This is not for all records only few we get like this . and for US due date this problem is not there.
Please suggest what might be the problem.

Please check again the cell value because it may contain correct value but display may be different.
You can apply the common display property fot the whole column using the workbook properties and saving the workbook.

BW - problem with formula variable (date format)

(sorry if I'm using different term than yours.. this is my 2nd query.. still new with BW)
I need to create 1 query: Support Message Aging Report.
Basically it will have 5 columns: Not Due, 0 Day, 1 Day, 2-10 Days, >10 Days.
and 1 input selection is: key date.
the formula is: number of aging day = key date - due date.
I have no issue on the 1st and 2nd column. For that I just create 1 customer exit.
My problem is on how to separate the over due support message by day (due date < key date).
I tried create 2 formula variable for key date and due date. Then from these 2 vars, I can get the number of days.
Problem comes when the calculation is cross month/year. I suspect maybe because the return from the formula var is in number format and not date... yyyymmdd. Then, I change the dimensions from number to date.. it is working for key date.. dd.mm.yyyy.
but for the due date, I got problem... it keeps give me warning saying: value 'D' invalid for property dimension of element etc.///
below are details for both formula variable.. please advice which area should I fix or maybe you can suggest any good idea for my query.. thanks so much
1. ZKEYDATE - customer exit (value input data) - dimensions date - NO ISSUE (OUTPUT: dd.mm.yyyy)
2. ZDUEDATE - replacement path (ref char ZBW02C08) - replacement rule: infoobject, key - dimension date - GOT WARNING...
ZBW02C08: contains due date and the type is date: yyyymmdd

If I were you, I'd try two things:
best way - have the infoprovider changed to have a new key figure for the number of days difference
- to do this with formulae (especially crossing months and years - what about leap years) is hard to maintain and develop
other way - make a virtual key figure - i did this once but I forget how exactly. There's a userexit or BADI somewhere which can be used for this.
Either of these ways allows the calculation to be done in ABAP itself where date1 - date2 gives you the number of days difference.
By the way though, this is in the wrong forum. I'd bet if this was in a BI forum, you'd have an answer already.

Problems with formulas

Although I have had much experience with spreadsheets in Excel and Quattro Pro, I am having problems creating a valid formula in Numbers '09.
=sum(tablename :: f2:f7)/cellname_f11 gives me a valid answer in % of 43.32%
=(cellnamef8*0.6666)/cellnamef11 gives me a valid answer of 11.39%
But the following formula gives me an erroneous answer:
=sum(tablename :: f2:f7)+(cellnamef8*0.6666)/cellnamef11
The percent returned is: 31,039,149.90%, whereas it should be about 54%
A similar formula in Quattro Pro gives a correct answer:
(e2e3+e4+e5+e6+e7(e8*2/3))/e11
I really would appreciate your help on this, as I am trying to move spreadsheets to Mac and Numbers '09.

Bob,
I think if you could go back and try your expression in Quattro Pro again, you'd get the same answer that Numbers did with that expression. It's a standard practice in math, since long before computerized spreadsheets, to do the multiplication and division before doing the addition and subtraction, unless over-ridden by parentheses.

Problem with formula

hi please provide me the solution for my scenario.
i have actual quantity field and plan quantity filed.
my client wants to analyze how accurately he is planning. so i need to calculate the %DEVIATION.
my scenario is ...they planned to sell in particular qurter is 1. but actual is 0. so deviation is 100*0-1/1 = -100 %. BUT IF PLANNED QUANTITY IS 0. ACTUAL SOLD IS 1.
THEN 1-0/0*100 = 1/0 *100 ....????
HOW TO SOLVE THIS FORMULA..
PLEASE ...PROVIDE THE SOLUTION.

in your case if you calcute it give value as INFINATE. so one function avilable in DATA FUNCTIONS <b>NDIV0 ( )</b>it display value as 0 if X/0 other wise it will calculate and display the calculated value.
Eg
NDIV0 (1-0/0*100 )
if it usefull please reward points.

I am having the same problem:
I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer. The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI. I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
Error in formula <Report Format>.
'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
This field name is not known.
Details: errorKind
This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula. If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?

Problem with combination of two working query formulas

Hey guys,
I have a problem in building a formula correctly with the BEx formula logic. I am sure, you can help me with this.
Right now I have four columns in my query. The first column (Actual) displays actual amounts either in local (10) or reporting (25) currency type depending on the optional selection either in the variable screen or in the free characteristics filter. The second column (Actual with Budget exch. rate) always shows the actual amounts with the budget exchange rate of the reporting currency. The third column (Budget) is build in the same way as the first column, but shows budget amount data. In the fourth column (Variance) the variance between budget and actual data should be calculated, but here lies the problem:
The formula should differentiate the chosen columns for the calculation depending on what currency type is selected either from the optional variable selection before the query is executed or from the free characteristics filter. So if I select currency type 10 it should calculate the variance by subtracting the budget column from the first column, but if I select currency type 25 it should subtract the budget columng from the second column.
I have implemented a formula which works already, but not for both selection possibilities (variable screen or free characteristics filter). Either the formula works when I input a currency type in the variable selection screen or when I select a filter value in the free characteristics filter. However, I need to combine both formulas in one working formula so that the user can choose if he wants to filter the currency already in the variable screen in the beginning or in the filter after query execution. Here are the two formulas which I need to get combined into one formula:
Used Variables:
VScreen_Selection --> value from the key of the optional Currency Type Variable from the Variable Selection Screen
Filter_Selection: --> value from the key of the InfoObject Currency Type
Formula for Variable Screen Selection:
(VScreen_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (VScreen_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Formula for Free Characteristics Filter Selection:
(Filter_Selection == 10) * (Budget - Actual) + (Filter_Selection == 25) * (Budget - Actual with Budget exch. rate)
Can you help me to combine both Formulas? I can't believe that this is too difficult. Many Thanks in advance.

GETPIVOTDATA formula problem with apostrophe

Excel 2010 on Win7 - Having a problem with the GETPIVOTDATA formula.
GETPIVOTDATA(data_field, pivot_table[, field1, item1]
If "data_field", "field1" or "item1" contain a value that has an apostrophe (i.e. single quote), the function returns a #REF! error. It works fine in all other cases. I tried placing those values within brackets (ex: "[Moody's]")
and using the old SQL trick of doubling up the apostrophe (ex: "Moody''s"), and combining both those methods. But no luck. Has anyone else been able to solve this problem?

BW 3.5 - Issue with formula variable with replacement path

Dear experts,
I'm facing an issue with formula variable with replacement path.
Just to clarify, I know replacement paths is raising a lot of questions but I've been using this functionnality extensively in the past, both in 7.0 and 3.5, so I'm not looking for basic information about how to use it.
I'm trying to setup a simple report that would show total values per plant of Purchase Order < 100
To do so I've setup a calculated key figure as follow:
VAR1 * ("PO value" < 100 ) * "PO value"
VAR1 is a formula variable with replacement path on 'purchase order' and value attribute 'constant =1'.
(The report has to show values summarized by plant but should not show the detail PO by PO, so I'm not looking at a solution based on condition)
The report as characteristic "plant" in rows and my CKF in columns.
Now let's take an example. I have 3 POs in Plant 1:
PO1 -> 150
PO2 -> 90
PO3 -> 80
Because of the variable with replacement path, the result in my query should be:
plant1 = 170 (even though characteristic "purchase order" is not in my rows, system should evaluate PO one by one and return values only for those two that are below 100).
But the result coming is 320, which is wrong.
I've done the same report on many other 3.5 systems and it worked perfectly, and I am not able to get proper support from SAP OSS who keep saying that this functionnality is not ready in 3.5 (although I've provided screenshot of this working on another 3.5 system!!! how frustrating...)
They have also pointed to problems of Before and After aggregation but that has absolutely no impact. Once again, the scenario is working perfectly on other 3.5 systems with the same query design, so i'm sure it has nothing to do with Query Designer options.
Would anyone have ever come to an equivalenet problem? I'm wondering whether the DB itself could not play a role in the variable with ref characteristic 'constant =1' ...

Hi,
The text variable is replaced when the exact date is clear for this key figure column according to the restriction.
To achive this, please make sure that either the variable is directly restricted in the key figure selection, or that the date characteristic is in drilldown.

Many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) in CR Xi

Hi,
I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
- Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
- Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
- Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
- Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
- 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
- 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
- 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
- Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???

Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

PROBLEM with iMessage (Messages) on iPod touch HELPPP

We had a problem with iMessage. We're both using iPod touch with iOS5 version.
but we can't send messages. It says our emails/apple ids are not registered on iMessage.
I checked it on already on the Settings>iMessage> ON .
but still we cant use it. HELP PLEASE THANKS
