Problem with imported .AI into Flash (performance issue/frame lag)

Hi Flash people i have a problem:
Background:
i am creating a flash file (old school frame animation with a little AS2) to be used on big screens (in a child libray)
i am importing diffeent files (some PNG some SWF images and Some .AI out of Illustrator) hee is the problem;
The file is BIG 1920+1200px (non scallable) all works fine until the movie hits the imported .Ai file(s) which are
browser views remade in full vecto in illustrator in 1200x800px - i have a simple image transition fom a PNG image
to the browser view (this view is pretty similar to a facebook frontpage in terms of content and text/image distribution.
the transition is 20-25 frames (in 31fps) and works fine with PNG but whrn the .AI frame is loaded the movie solws down
by factor 10 and it takes several seconds (5-8sec.) to play through the 1sec transition.
I have tried to export the same AI page as SWF out of illustrator and the esult is basically the same = exteme frame lag.x
how do i get about this?
i know the 1920x1200px is HUGE for a fullscreen transition/fade, but then again... it should work right?
any ideas? - any other vector formats does a better job (and yes it HAS to be vector as i am also doing some looking class effects)
thjis is really frustrating and the fist time since 96 i have hit the wall with flash :-/ - i have tried everything i know, perhaps overlooking the obvious?

• Problem with importing JPEG into Flash

Hello,
Im using Adobe Flash CS3 PRO. I don't know what's wrong..when I try to import photos into the stage the photos get resized.
My photographs are 550px by 413px. I set my stage to the same size. Then I go to import to stage. I click import as a sequence. All the photos are appear smaller on the stage. They are only about 200px
Why is it happening?????
I am basicaly trying to import a sequence of photographs for my stop motion animation. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for helping!
Lucas

I don't know the why of it. I don't have this problem most of the time, but I have heard it come up before--I don't remember the solution though. It may have involved importing the image into something that is already scaled smaller.
Anyways, here's a couple of things to check while waiting for someone who might know more to come along.
First, select one of the images and select Modify -> Transform -> Remove Transform. If the Remove Transform option is grayed out, then nevermind.
If that didn't do anything, try dragging one of the images out to the stage from the library and see if it is the proper size.
If you have a ton of images, it's likely that neither of the two things above is an attractive solution anyways.

• Problems with importing images into Lightroom cc

Problems with importing images into Lightroom cc
I have installed lightroom cc and having trouble imortera images from my Canon 1DX.
Lightroom starting the capture, but then nothing happens more, if I turn off the camera, I get error message photo 100-200 could not be loaded.
Now I have left lightroom 5 and where the input port works fine.
What happened to the upgrade from Lightroom 5 to lightroom cc?
The camera has the latest software.

I've now tested in various ways.
First, I have images on both memory cards in the camera.
Test1) Selects Not all of the photos in the camera at the input port bearings, it seems to work fine.
Test 2) selects all cards in the camera and then get the following, Lightroom starts inportera short but stops and nothing happens (Fig.1).
I turn the camera off after a while and get the next meddelnade (picture 1)
Which can be translated:
"The following files were not imported because they could not read (351)
Property 1-100

• Problem with importing images into time lapse

Hi
I am having problems with importing still images into a time lapse sequence in photoshop and would appreciate any suggestions!
I want to create a time lapse using a sequence of still photographs. All file names are sequentially name/numbered.
I am using the Motion workspace, and have followed all of the instructions available.
Create correct sized new document (film & video).
Create video timeline.
Set frame rate.
Choose 'create new video layer from file'.
Point to first image in the folder where the images are stored.
At this point, no matter what I have tried, I receive this error:
I have tried different sized new documents; tried jpegs and tiffs; tried different frame rates, tried different qualities and sizes of images; tried selecting the last image instead of the first (one recommendation).
If I use the 'Place' command from the file menu (and check the 'image sequence' box) instead of selecting 'Create new video layer' from the layers panel, it loads fine and I can still render the video.
It took me most of a day to discover this workaround, but every other reasonable 'how-to' that I can find says that I should be able to do it by opening files into a new video layer and it seems as though the new video layer option may give me more alternatives.
Anyone have any idea why I could be having these problems?
I have reset Photoshop, deleted the settings file, even reinstalled it. I use 64-bit on windows 7 and even installed the 32-bit to try that, but all with the same result.
Stuart

Unfortunately, yes--I've tried it that way over and over, and every other way I could think of. The files are all in one folder, and I've converted the raw files to both tiffs and jpegs. I even tried converting them to jpegs at the final pixel dimensions. Each folder that I have used only contains one type of file, and they are all part of the same sequence and sequentially numbered. I have even tried renumbering the files with numbers first, numbers last, numbers only, moving underscores. I moved the files from my external hard-drive to the desktop ... I have a lot less hair than I had only a few days ago!
I've looked at a few other tutorials that outline the same sequence of steps, and tried them over and over, and then changing one step at a time to make sure that it was not a single step that caused the problem.
The thing that is really bugging me is that it works fine if I use the different approach of using the place command instead.
Anyway, thanks for all of your time. It's going to be a lot simpler to just stick with 'place' command and I will likely do that, but I tend take things like this as a challenge. I like to know WHY it won't work for me. Sometimes it seems that there is just no logical explanation!

• Problems with Importing MP3s Into Podcast

I'm having sudden trouble importing audio comments into my podcast. I've had no problems in the past doing this. The only difference is that the previous episodes were on my iMac G5 and this episode was produced on my MacBook Pro.
The audio comments arrive as WAV files but I use iTunes to convert them to MP3 format. This time when I tried importing them into my podcast GarageBand shows an error message that "this format is not supported by GarageBand." I find that hard to believe.
When I try to import the WAV files, they import but sound like the chipmunks -- and turn the rest of the recording into a chipmunk-like sound.
Any ideas?

You shouldn't convert them to Mp3 to begin with, use AIFF instead.

• Problem with importing graphics into InDesign

This is a fictitious example to illustrate my problem...
I have .PSD file measuring 10cm square. It's completely blank except for a layer containing a 5cm square box in the middle. When I import to InDesign it places as a 10cm square picture frame (with the 5cm image in the middle surrounded by blank space), rather than a 5cm square picture frame "snapped" to the edges of the .PSD content.
This means doing a "Fit Frame to Content" now makes the InDesign frame the same dimensions as the .PSD document (ie. 10cm square), when it used to make it 5cm square (i.e the same dimensions as the CONTENT of the .PSD document). Any ideas about changing this back? I've no idea what's changed recently...
Apologies; that's been described incredibly badly. I hope someone understands what I mean!
Thanks in advance

Thanks guys. But in the past when this has happened it's seemed to be linked to the last image I opened in PhotoShop. Often I have to render PDFs in PhotoShop to send visuals to printers and, depending on what I pick in the "Crop to:" drop down box, in the past has altered the way my next image imports in InDesign. In the past if the next .PSD image imported into InDesign with the extra white space around it, I turned Import Options on and then got similar "crop to" options in InDesign, and (off the top of my head) chose "Bounding Box" to resolve the issue. Now I'm just getting the option to turn layers on or off.
That said, InDesign does now seem to be behaving exactly as you (Daniel) describe. This is annoying because I've been testing this now on a .PSD graphic which used to place and crop to the content, but now places at the size of the full PhotoShop document.
And Rik: I agree that I could crop the original images in PhotoShop, which would technically resolve the issue - and may end up being what I have to do in the short term. But I've got a bee in my bonnet about this now, because this isn't how InDesign has been behaving for me for the past 5 years.
I've tried deleting the preferences for both InDesign and PhotoShop in the vain hope it would be as simple as that. That didn't work.
I'll keep searching for the answer...

• Help with importing items into flash

OK, I have modified a flash site to accomplish everything I
would like except one item and this has me stumped. I have several
"more" buttons on my site that all go to the same frame, but insert
differnent text dependent on which "more" button is clicked
(reference
www.tlcbuildersllc.com).
Everything is imported from xml functions and files.
Here is the xml function script from one file
(xmlFunctions.as) for the "more" buttons
function more_click_func(number) {
num=_root.pagesReadMoreFrame;
currentPage=_root.link-_root.firstPageFrame;
if(_root.link<>num and _root.animation==1) {
_root.animation=0;
_root.link_prev=_root.link;
_root.menu["item" +
getMenuPreviousLink(_root.link)].gotoAndPlay("s2");
_root.menu2["item" +
getMenuPreviousLink(_root.link)].gotoAndPlay("s2");
if (number==999999) {
sectionNum=getXmlSection(mainObj, "section",
"privacyPolicy");
titleNum=getXmlSection(mainObj.section[sectionNum], "item",
"pageTitle");
textNum=getXmlSection(mainObj.section[sectionNum], "item",
"pageText");
_root.readMoreTitle=mainObj.section[sectionNum]["item"][titleNum].value;
_root.readMoreText=mainObj.section[sectionNum]["item"][textNum].value;
else {
sectionNum=getXmlSection(mainObj, "section", "pages");
linkCount=checkLinkType("readMoreLink", number);
i=0;
linkTitleNum=getXmlSection(mainObj["section"][sectionNum]["page"][currentPage]["link"][li nkCount],
"item", "title");
linkTextNum=getXmlSection(mainObj["section"][sectionNum]["page"][currentPage]["link"][lin kCount],
"item", "linkText");
_root.readMoreTitle=mainObj["section"][sectionNum]["page"][currentPage]["link"][linkCount ]["item"][linkTitleNum].value;
_root.readMoreText=mainObj["section"][sectionNum]["page"][currentPage]["link"][linkCount] ["item"][linkTextNum].value;
_root.link=num;
_root.play();
which calls items out of another file (tfile_main.xml) with
script like this
<pageText>
LATEST PROJECTS?
</pageText>
<pageText>
12.15.2007
text omitted to shorten post more

Latest Project

text omitted to shorten post

Then, in the flash file (main.fla), on a layer of the read
more frame, I have this script
thisTitle.htmlText=_root.readMoreTitle;
thisText.htmlText=_root.readMoreText;
_root.textSelectable(thisText);
_root.textSelectable(thisTitle);
Now I know the above script is for text boxes, but I figure a
similar layer or MC script will be needed to add unique avi files
and pics for each individual "more" button that is selected. Any
help would be appreciated, I have tried many different things and
have not been able to accomplish this task.

• Problem with imported images into Indesign

I have scanned a book as a one bit (B & W) 600 dpi document. I have imported the document into Indesign as i need to integrate some decsreened pics in. I then export the finished document as a press ready PDF and the image virtually disappears off the page and what is left is very distorted. the type is twice as high and about five times wider than the original image.
I have contacted the scanner company and of course they put the issue with the exporting to the PDF.
Can anybody help??

This is bug #2960217 filed by me in September, relating to Indexed over Gray colorspace, also with a Fujitsu Scansnap S1500M.

In short, don't use it in Grayscale (Or BW, I guess) modes. Use it in Color, or make sure to process the iamge in another app (like Photoshop) and save
it with a normal colorspace.

• Problems with importing music into my 60gb ipod

I really need some help.. I just recently got the new 60gb ipod and had no problems imporitn music, i have a windows Xp and installed Itunes in which i registed my ipod, i then went on my sisters IBook and imported music from her. I then sucessfully imported more music from my windows computer. well i am currently visitn her and used her comp for more importing when somethien went wrong. My ipod will only play her music and not mine from my computer. It reads the playlists as if my music was there but when selected, it simply skips it and then when i try to play it on her comp the exclamation point goes up. I dont know what to do.. someone please help me!!!

Melissa, iPods were not made to dock to 2 totally different computers. This was done to prevent illegal file sharing. When you originally docked your iPod to your personal computer, the iPod views that as its "home". In docking to your sister's computer, you would have gotten a message saying something to the effect about " this iPod is linked to another library. do you want to replace iPod's contents with the current music library?" If you said "yes", you have now told iPod that your sister's computer is its "home" & that's why it can no longer access your music. The only way to get your music back is to do a restore of your iPod & allow iTunes to re-sync the library on your computer to your iPod.
Even though you are sisters, if you don't live in the same household what you are attempting to do is considered to be illegal file sharing. PLEASE DON'T STEAL MUSIC!

• A problem with importing layered PSD file into Flash

Hi.
There's a problem with importing layered PSD file into Flash.
If I import a layered PSD file, some part the color of the lower layer is shown at the edge of objects or shadows. Instead, if I crop each layers first and import them, there's no problem.
If the higher layer has brush or transparent effects, it becomes worse.
Any help with this problem?
Thanks.

How was the original art created? Was the original RGB or CMYK? What is the resolution of the Photoshop file? Flash only works well with RGB and 72 pixel per inch resolution. If your original art is not set this way, then Flash will attempt to convert it as it imports it. Flash uses the sRGB color space. You'll get the best color translation if your Photoshop file is using this color preference.

• Problems with Sound WAVs in Flash

Hi Everyone,
I've been using flash for a while now and find that it's
great program for creating animations and interactive
presentations. I've started making an interactive presentation of
Star Trek ships but I've ran into a problem!!
-PROBLEM-
I'm having trouble with imported sounds in flash. I started
by making a Title Scene for my presentation and then a End Scene,
followed by a Main Menu Scene and a Ship Info Scene. I've been
using buttons to navigate between the various scenes which is
working great, I've also been double clicking on the buttons to
open them and then assigning a sound WAV to the "OnHit" frame of
the the button, so when the button is pressed it will make a sound.
Now here comes the interesting part; Everytime I test the
movie and press a button to move forward to another scene it plays
the correct sound and moves onto the selected scene (great!!).
But when I press a button to move to a previous scene, It
plays the correct sound but it also plays two or three other sound
WAV's that are not assign to the button press "OnHit" frame. I
cannot find any reason as to why it seems to be doing this, so I've
decided to come here and ask the "Experts!!".
If anyone want's to look at the FLA file in question, it can
be downloaded from my space here:-
http://files.filefront.com/Starfleet_Vessel_Databasefla/;6892308;;/fileinfo.html
I hope someone knows the answer to this problem, and can help
me out, It would be much appreciated!!
Regards
GR Elgy.

god that's complicated.

• Couldnt Import .MP3 into Flash CC

I am exporting a .MP3 from Adobe Audition CC
Then Importing it into Flash CC
I receive the error message Couldnt Import .MP3
This procedure has worked in the past but now does not work. If you know what may be the issue please let me know
Thanks

There was an older issue with Flash CS6 where any MP3 with a bitrate over 192kbit could not be imported unless both QuickTime and iTunes were installed to the latest version (on Windows). Do you also have iTunes installed and updated?
I don't think anyone got to the bottom of why iTunes was needed but many people couldn't import MP3 with the same error until they did. You might want to try that.
The only MP3 workaround was to import directly to library instead of stage and play it in a timeline layer, but some could only hear it during published playback (no preview).
Of course an alternate workaround is to simply use a different format. There's still something going on with MP3, which is a bit surprising considering how common it is. I would recommend trying WAV or AIFF as a workaround for now if iTunes/QuickTime updating doesn't fix it.

• Tempo problems with imported wav files

Hey everyone, sorry if there's a quick fix for this in the forums that I couldn't find, but I've been having some tempo problems with imported .wav files.
Long story short, my system couldn't handle playing all the tracks for a song while recording drums, so I bounced out an mp3 of the song and put it in a new Logic file so my drummer could just play along to that as I recorded him. Unfortunately, the original song is at 167 bpm, but I forgot to change the bpm in the new Logic file with the .mp3 file of the song to 167 bpm, so it was left at the default 120 bpm.
So, the drums were recorded at the correct 167 bpm, but Logic thinks that those new drum .wav files should be played at 120 bpm, so when I import my drum tracks back into the original file, they do not play correctly at all.
I could get record it all again, but I wanted to check if there was a way I could salvage what I already have, since my drummer lives about an hour away right now and can't just come over whenever he wants.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

Hi,
First, do not use MP3 in Logic, the sound quality is less than AIFF, WAV or CAF, and Logic has to decode it for playback, making it a heavier burden on the CPU than an uncoded audiofile, such as AIFF, WAV or CAF.
Secondly, audio files are independent of Logic's tempo. If you bounce down an audio file in any format (other than Apple Loop), it will play back at the same speed, +regardless of Logics' tempo setting+, either at recording or playback. Logic doesn't 'think' anything. The BPM is only important to MIDI tracks, or to the spacing between audio files. The audio files themselves *are not affected* by the tempo setting. If you import an audio file of tempo 167 into a 120 BPM project, the file will still play at 167, only Logic will indicate the wrong bar positions.
regards, Erik.
