Problem with importing images into time lapse

Hi
I am having problems with importing still images into a time lapse sequence in photoshop and would appreciate any suggestions!
I want to create a time lapse using a sequence of still photographs.  All file names are sequentially name/numbered.
I am using the Motion workspace, and have followed all of the instructions available.
Create correct sized new document (film & video).
Create video timeline.
Set frame rate.
Choose 'create new video layer from file'.
Point to first image in the folder where the images are stored.
At this point, no matter what I have tried, I receive this error:
I have tried different sized new documents; tried jpegs and tiffs; tried different frame rates, tried different qualities and sizes of images; tried selecting the last image instead of the first (one recommendation).
If I use the 'Place' command from the file menu (and check the 'image sequence' box) instead of selecting 'Create new video layer' from the layers panel, it loads fine and I can still render the video.
It took me most of a day to discover this workaround, but every other reasonable 'how-to' that I can find says that I should be able to do it by opening files into a new video layer and it seems as though the new video layer option may give me more alternatives.
Anyone have any idea why I could be having these problems?
I have reset Photoshop, deleted the settings file, even reinstalled it.  I use 64-bit on windows 7 and even installed the 32-bit to try that, but all with the same result.
Stuart

Unfortunately, yes--I've tried it that way over and over, and every other way I could think of.  The files are all in one folder, and I've converted the raw files to both tiffs and jpegs.  I even tried converting them to jpegs at the final pixel dimensions.  Each folder that I have used only contains one type of file, and they are all part of the same sequence and sequentially numbered.  I have even tried renumbering the files with numbers first, numbers last, numbers only, moving underscores.  I moved the files from my external hard-drive to the desktop ... I have a lot less hair than I had only a few days ago!
I've looked at a few other tutorials that outline the same sequence of steps, and tried them over and over, and then changing one step at a time to make sure that it was not a single step that caused the problem.
The thing that is really bugging me is that it works fine if I use the different approach of using the place command instead.
Anyway, thanks for all of your time.  It's going to be a lot simpler to just stick with 'place' command and I will likely do that, but I tend take things like this as a challenge.  I like to know WHY it won't work for me.  Sometimes it seems that there is just no logical explanation!

  • Problem with imported images into Indesign

I have scanned a book as a one bit (B & W) 600 dpi document. I have imported the document into Indesign as i need to integrate some decsreened pics in. I then export the finished document as a press ready PDF and the image virtually disappears off the page and what is left is very distorted. the type is twice as high and about five times wider than the original image.
I have contacted the scanner company and of course they put the issue with the exporting to the PDF.
    Can anybody help??

This is bug #2960217 filed by me in September, relating to Indexed over Gray colorspace, also with a Fujitsu Scansnap S1500M.

In short, don't use it in Grayscale (Or BW, I guess) modes. Use it in Color, or make sure to process the iamge in another app (like Photoshop) and save
    it with a normal colorspace.

  • Aperture 3.0.1 Problem with Importing Images

The problem I am experiencing with Aperture 3 is that often when I am trying to import images to a project, the images "do not show up" in the import window. In other words, Aperture doesn't "see" the images I am trying to import.
Here's what I mean, I might have photos on a CF card or on a hard drive which I would be trying to add/import into a project. Sometimes but not all the time, when I select the folder or location where the files are that I am trying to import, no files show up! These are just regular JPEG files. I know they are there because if I look with OS X's Finder, the images are all there. As well, sometimes if I quit Aperture and restart it all over again, the images that I want to import now show up in the import window.
This problem doesn't change either whether I click on the "do not import duplicate" box or not. Although as a side note, this "do not import duplicate" function doesn't seem to be reliable either.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding what I can do to fix this? Can I "reinstall" Aperture? How do I do this? Is this something I can fix by rebuilding the library?

I didn't even realize that I too had this issue until I came upon this thread. I went into my Import window, selected my hard drive and only the folder structure would show - no images corresponding to those within the folders would appear in the window above.
Odd, though, all I did was uncheck the 'Do not import duplicates' box and suddenly the images now appear, and continue to appear after a relaunch of Aperture. I've since rechecked the duplicates box but the images still appear.
I don't know if it's related to the initial toggling of the duplicates button or not. Nor do I know if the problem will appear sometime later, but I do know it was/is an issue.

  • Problem with importing JPEG into Flash

    Hello,
Im using Adobe Flash CS3 PRO. I don't know what's wrong..when I try to import photos into the stage the photos get resized.
My photographs are 550px by 413px. I set my stage to the same size. Then I go to import to stage. I click import as a sequence. All the photos are appear smaller on the stage. They are only about 200px
    Why is it happening?????
I am basicaly trying to import a sequence of photographs for my stop motion animation. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks for helping!
    Lucas

I don't know the why of it.  I don't have this problem most of the time, but I have heard it come up before--I don't remember the solution though.  It may have involved importing the image into something that is already scaled smaller.
Anyways, here's a couple of things to check while waiting for someone who might know more to come along.
First, select one of the images and select Modify -> Transform -> Remove Transform.  If the Remove Transform option is grayed out, then nevermind.
If that didn't do anything, try dragging one of the images out to the stage from the library and see if it is the proper size.
If you have a ton of images, it's likely that neither of the two things above is an attractive solution anyways.

  • Problems with Importing MP3s Into Podcast

I'm having sudden trouble importing audio comments into my podcast. I've had no problems in the past doing this. The only difference is that the previous episodes were on my iMac G5 and this episode was produced on my MacBook Pro.
The audio comments arrive as WAV files but I use iTunes to convert them to MP3 format. This time when I tried importing them into my podcast GarageBand shows an error message that "this format is not supported by GarageBand." I find that hard to believe.
When I try to import the WAV files, they import but sound like the chipmunks -- and turn the rest of the recording into a chipmunk-like sound.
    Any ideas?

You shouldn't convert them to Mp3 to begin with, use AIFF instead.

  • Problem with importing images from Nikon S60

I have been using photoshop elements for several years - currently on Version 8.  I've had no issues importing images from my Nikon D70 - I choose the option to store the images in folders by "shot date" and this has always worked.
My wife has started using a Nikon S60 to take photos - when trying to import these photos they all end up in a folder with today's date.  I've treid a couple of times to be sure that I didn't make a mistake in setting the import options.  I've checked the "properties" of the images and the date their shows the shot date...
    any ideas?

Seems unusual behavior. I guess the obvious thing to do is to simply rename the folder although that’s a bit annoying.
Have you tried selecting one of the other shot date formats from the downloader, perhaps to match the camera date format?

  • Problem with importing images shifting text

    Hi,
I custom designed a heading and menu on a blank page, and then I added images for a slide show (hyperlinked each one with next previous). My logo or heading is in the exact same place but when you go from one page to the next it giggles/or looks like it's shifting (this looks horrible when you are going through the images). The images are PNG and not very big in size (approx. 380 pixels by 580 at 72 DPI). The text shifting problem does not happen if the images are shrunk or kept at a really small size. I've tried everything I can think of and it def. has to do with the images being a certain size, but it does not make sense as I should be able to work with images that are this size -- they are not even very big to begin with! Any help would be so greatly appreciated. THanks!
    Best,
    Corinne

you appear to be a mac genius
Thanks for the compliment but mostly I just regurgitate what I've learned here. Regarding the image size I don't think you need to do anything. The only set of photos that are jpgs and can be downloaded are those in the Mollen and Drew section. The rest of them are java based and cannot be downloaded, only obtained via a screen capture. I don't know what you did differently for Mollen and Drew's page but it is different from all the others in that first gallery. However, the other pages can take the view to the overall gallery were the links to Blank # are visible. The few pages I visited of those, Blank 34 and 41 had jpgs for the large view that could be downloaded. Is that what you want? If so you might consider putting a watermark on the photos. This example was done with Photoshop but there are 3rd party applications that can automate the process, putting any text or icon on the photo in the location of your choice. iWatermark is just one of several. You can find them at VersonTracker.com.
The current iWeb converts the photos to 800 x 600 and uses java for the slideshow and gallery. This makes it more difficult to download a photo. A viewer would have to make a screenshot of it in order to get a copy.
Of the five one your gallery page only Mollen and Drew are of the type of page that has jpgs as the larger image. How was that page created as opposed to the one for Georgeen and Tobias. They are two different types of photo/slideshow pages.

  • Problem with importing graphics into InDesign

This is a fictitious example to illustrate my problem...
I have .PSD file measuring 10cm square. It's completely blank except for a layer containing a 5cm square box in the middle. When I import to InDesign it places as a 10cm square picture frame (with the 5cm image in the middle surrounded by blank space), rather than a 5cm square picture frame "snapped" to the edges of the .PSD content.
This means doing a "Fit Frame to Content" now makes the InDesign frame the same dimensions as the .PSD document (ie. 10cm square), when it used to make it 5cm square (i.e the same dimensions as the CONTENT of the .PSD document). Any ideas about changing this back? I've no idea what's changed recently...
Apologies; that's been described incredibly badly. I hope someone understands what I mean!
    Thanks in advance

Thanks guys. But in the past when this has happened it's seemed to be linked to the last image I opened in PhotoShop. Often I have to render PDFs in PhotoShop to send visuals to printers and, depending on what I pick in the "Crop to:" drop down box, in the past has altered the way my next image imports in InDesign. In the past if the next .PSD image imported into InDesign with the extra white space around it, I turned Import Options on and then got similar "crop to" options in InDesign, and (off the top of my head) chose "Bounding Box" to resolve the issue. Now I'm just getting the option to turn layers on or off.
That said, InDesign does now seem to be behaving exactly as you (Daniel) describe. This is annoying because I've been testing this now on a .PSD graphic which used to place and crop to the content, but now places at the size of the full PhotoShop document.
And Rik: I agree that I could crop the original images in PhotoShop, which would technically resolve the issue - and may end up being what I have to do in the short term. But I've got a bee in my bonnet about this now, because this isn't how InDesign has been behaving for me for the past 5 years.
I've tried deleting the preferences for both InDesign and PhotoShop in the vain hope it would be as simple as that. That didn't work.
I'll keep searching for the answer...

  • Problem with imported .AI into Flash (performance issue/frame lag)

Hi Flash people i have a problem:
    Background:
i am creating a flash file (old school frame animation with a little AS2) to be used on big screens (in a child libray)
    i am importing diffeent files (some PNG some SWF images and Some .AI out of Illustrator) hee is the problem;
The file is BIG 1920+1200px (non scallable) all works fine until the movie hits the imported .Ai file(s) which are
browser views remade in full vecto in illustrator in 1200x800px - i have a simple image transition fom a PNG image
to the browser view (this view is pretty similar to a facebook frontpage in terms of content and text/image distribution.
the transition is 20-25 frames (in 31fps) and works fine with PNG but whrn the .AI frame is loaded the movie solws down
by factor 10 and it takes several seconds (5-8sec.) to play through the 1sec transition.
I have tried to export the same AI page as SWF out of illustrator and the esult is basically the same = exteme frame lag.x
how do i get about this?
i know the 1920x1200px is HUGE for a fullscreen transition/fade, but then again... it should work right?
any ideas? - any other vector formats does a better job (and yes it HAS to be vector as i am also doing some looking class effects)
thjis is really frustrating and the fist time since 96  i have hit the wall with flash :-/ - i have tried everything i know, perhaps overlooking the obvious?

  • Problems with Importing BQY into Workspace

    Hi All,
I need your help with resolving how to import a BQY into my workspace.
When I go to get the BQY (or any file for that matter) from C:\1.bqy (for example), when using the browse button, and navigating my local file system, I get an error that says, "file path is wrong".

  • Problem with importing images

I downloaded the Lightroom 4 trial program.  After watching a tutorial on importing and organizing I imported a few photos
from the hard drive on my laptop.  All the functions of the program are working but the images of the photos don't show up.
Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the program? Can I do that and still have the trial time of 30 days? Is there some other
on/off thing I need to do to make this work?

It might be that your monitor profile is corrupt, i.e. outdated, or that by some reason no monitor profile is selected.
Monitors "drift" over time and - after a while - may display colors in a way that is not a true representation of the color numbers.
If a monitor has drifted way off, Lr refuses to display the images.
The remedy is to calibrate your monitor using a hardware piece called a spectrometer plus accompanying software.
In the short run - and only as a temporary remedy - you can set your monitor to sRGB.
See here for how to do this in Windows: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4977176#4977176
I don't know how to do it on a Mac - there must be something similar.
It also can happen that in Windows there is no profile selected at all.
If you find in your Control Panel that no profile is selected, select one.

  • Problems with importing music into my 60gb ipod

I really need some help.. I just recently got the new 60gb ipod and had no problems imporitn music, i have a windows Xp and installed Itunes in which i registed my ipod, i then went on my sisters IBook and imported music from her. I then sucessfully imported more music from my windows computer. well i am currently visitn her and used her comp for more importing when somethien went wrong. My ipod will only play her music and not mine from my computer. It reads the playlists as if my music was there but when selected, it simply skips it and then when i try to play it on her comp the exclamation point goes up. I dont know what to do.. someone please help me!!!

Melissa, iPods were not made to dock to 2 totally different computers. This was done to prevent illegal file sharing. When you originally docked your iPod to your personal computer, the iPod views that as its "home". In docking to your sister's computer, you would have gotten a message saying something to the effect about " this iPod is linked to another library. do you want to replace iPod's contents with the current music library?" If you said "yes", you have now told iPod that your sister's computer is its "home" & that's why it can no longer access your music. The only way to get your music back is to do a restore of your iPod & allow iTunes to re-sync the library on your computer to your iPod.
Even though you are sisters, if you don't live in the same household what you are attempting to do is considered to be illegal file sharing. PLEASE DON'T STEAL MUSIC!

  • Problems with disk image in Time Capsule

I've created a disk image on my timecapsule to use as extra storage. Since the disk image won't automatically mount on my desktop, I have created an alias to a folder saved inside that disk image. When I open the alias, this mounts the disk image and I can view or write files as I wish. So far so good.
When however I acces the timecapsule through finder, I can see the disk image file (.dmg), but when I click on it, it says "Connection Failed" and that it cannot acces my timecapsule.
I want to share acces to my timecapsule, but from the other computer I cannot use that alias, and I have to access the timecapsule conventionally through finder, but I also get the "Connection Failed" error. How is it possible that I get a message that the connection failed, while I am able to connect through my "alias trick" on my own computer? Moreover, all other functions such as wireless printing work fine through TC and the light is green. I have the impression it may have something to do with how a disk image works which I don't quite understand: Can you open a .dmg file to write in it?
Does anyone have any ideas how this might work? Thanks!

    Real Player was the culprit.
