Problem with installing Java EE with JDK Bundle

Hello everyone
I downloaded the Java EE SDK with JDK update 25 bundle for linux
The file end in .sh. however when I run the executable I get the no jar found message. Do I need to install jdk before I install jee and if I do then why do they provide them bundled if you have to have the jdk first before installing jee.
Another question also, how do I change my handle in this forum? I didn't pick this number!!

Yes, it is a bit stupid. You need the jar command which usually is available if you have a JDK installed but there are other ways of just installing just jar. Also note that some people already have an older JDK installed, thus jar is available and when they install this bundle they get a newer JDK.
Anyway, for changing your handle, you can do that from 'Your Control Panel' and then Edit your profile.

  • Error in installing  Java EE 5 Tools Bundle Update 6

    Hi,
I am always getting following error installing Java EE 5 Tools Bundle Update 6:
"...GlassFishUtils$DomainCreationException: Could not create domain - the process returned 255"
Looks like Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 is the issue here.
This is very critical that I install the Netbeans in my machine. I appreciate any help from you.
    Thanks,
    Joy

You can certainly install this on Windows XP Home and expect everything to run. Supported platform list usually lists only those specific platforms which went through full QA cycle for particular product, but this doesn't mean product will not run on different OS version or edition.

I'm going to answer my own question in hopes it helps someone else. I had the problem immediately after I had installed PS CC.  Once I restarted the computer and tried again, it worked.

  • I am using Mandriva Linux now and I have installed Firefox 6 but I could not install Java plugin with it. Can anyone please help me how to install it?

I am using Mandriva Linux now.
But I am using Firefox 3.6.8, but I cannot install java plugin in it.
Can anyone please help me how to install it?

The plugins folder in the Firefox installation folder doesn't exist by default. There is no default plugin in Firefox 4, so that folder would be empty and in thus not included. If you want to use that location then you need to create a plugins folder.
    Did you try /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ?

    From Oracle:

There you'll have all the different choices of JDK depending on the operating system you have.

  • Installing Java 6.0 (JDK 1.6) on a Windows based OS

    Hi all newbies,
I have written a tutorial on how to install JDK 6.0 on Windows (yuck!) platforms.
    The tutorial is at
    http://www.javaclass.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=109
I was hoping people would leave comments and tell me how I can improve on it.
    Hail the Java Kingdom !!
    JP

Thank you for the prompt replies.
The images were being hosted at a third party server - so maybe, that service (over which I have no control) was down. I resized the images (into gifs, and now they take a quater of the time to download) and placed them on my server - so there should not be any "image problem" anymore. I fixed the title.
As for what is wrong with
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/index.html
    Probably nothing but:
    - I teach java and I find that my students are more reluctant to dwell into the sun site (with loads of clicks and an overwhelming amount of information all over the place). A one stop complete setup tutorial is lacking.
    - I do not think that there is anything wrong with having a number of tutorials describing a particular topic/process. As long as the info contained in them is not conflicting. Some people might understand the SUN site better, others my tutorial.
    Thanks for your feedback.

    Hi,
This is a problem with your DNS settings (or lack of), not with Sun Java System Application Server/Access Manager.
You will need to setup DNS before installing.
One of these articles may help you:

  • Problems with Install: Full Version / Full - JDK

    It's been a long day but ...
Trying to install both the full version and full -JDK. Both extracts contain several duplicate file versions some with same date/time, others different file sizes and date/time stamps.
The creation of the folder: sqldeveloper per the Install Instructions below doesn't happen:
Unzipping the SQL Developer kit causes a folder named sqldeveloper to be created under the <sqldeveloper_install> folder (for example, C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper). It also causes many files and folders to be placed in and under that directory.
I get a little wild and run sqldeveloper.exe from the extract <sqldeveloper_install> folder (since the other one didn't get created) and all I get is a flash of a DOS window like something is trying to work.
    Help?
    Thank you in advance!

First of all, even on windows you only need one download - the 65MB one if you don't have an existing JDK 1.5 install or the 38MB one if you do (if you are unsure, I would suggest the larger option). It is a bit worrying that there are "matching" files in both with different sizes/timestamps but so long as you stick to a single zip file, that shouldn't matter.
I would suggest that you blow away your existing <sqldeveloper_install> folder and start again with either the SQL Developer including JDK 1.5 (65MB) or the SQL Developer without JDK 1.5 (38MB), whichever is appropriate for you.
Given the structure of the zip file contents, if you want your <sqldeveloper_install> folder to be C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper, extract the zip file to C:\Program Files (if you extract to C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper, your install folder ends up being C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper).
Then, as you tried previously, the <sqldeveloper_install>\sqldeveloper.exe should start SQL Developer.

    Thanks Udo,
As I mentioned in the beginning of the thread. After I configure the listener on http://localhost:3333/apex/listenerConfigure , I get an empty page.
Now, if I visit this page http://localhost:3333/apex/listenerConfigure:
    I get this message:
The APEX Listener is already configured. Please login as Administrator to access APEX Listener Administration. If I visit : http://localhost:3333/apex/listenerAdmin, I get the configuration page. When I click apply, I get an empty page...
if I visit http://localhost:3333/apex/ or http://localhost:3333/apex/apex_admin, I get an empty page....
    Best Regards,
    Fateh.
In the CMD, I am getting this message: Connection Pool destroyed

  • Error Message with Installing Java Add in Component 640

We are trying to install a JAVA  Add-in for ABAP using the Installation
Master CD 51031149. From SAPINST,  SAP Netweaver '04 Support
    release 1 > JAVA Add-in for ABAP > IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries >
Central System > JAVA Finalization, we are getting the error message
on the screen JAVA System - General Parameters: Cannot find the default
profile for the SAP system SDS (where we are trying to install the
    addinat the default location "\ac4sap02.nmhg.com/sapmnt/SDS/profile/
DEFAULT.PFL. Make sure the installation step 'Preparation of Central
Instance Host' has run successfullyon the central instance host for the
SAP system SDSand that the profile directory is mounted at
    'undefined/SDS/profile'.
    From our install server @ '/usr/sap'SDS/SYS/profile' I have a
    DEFAULT.PFL, DEFAULT.1.PFL, (2) SDS_DVEBMGS86_ac4sap files.
We are on an iSeries 570 4-way, installing SRM4.0, XI3.0 with SUS, CCM, TREX LAC and IPC.
