Problem with nano

The "iPod selection" folder in my Itunes seems to be gone (the Recently Added, Top rated, most played, etc. are still there). I have about 1000 songs on my ipod and don't wanna lose them. But when I connect my ipod to my computer, my library doesn't show up, meaning I can't add or delete any songs. I've tried reinstalling my ipod and Itunes but it's not working. Has this happened to anyone?
Both the iPod and iTunes still work. My songs all still play on the iPod but that folder in my iTunes playlist (iPod selection) where I'd drag songs from My Library is gone.

spooky...glad to have kept my mini...
sold it to someone 2 weeks ago...
and emailed me last night that she only get 3 hours of playtime with a fully charged battery....
I get two 8-hour day with it without recharging...
glad that she is returning it because the reason i sold it was that i was expecting more from stevie's announcement...
guess, he should stick on just making movies for the kids...

  • Syncing problem with Nano on Refurb computer

I have a refurbed Dell desktop with XP, and the latest version of itunes. When I plug in my Nano to the USB port(or any of them for that matter) instead of getting the itunes syncing screen I'm getting a windows screen that says "Ipod service module (32bit) has encountered a problem and needs to close" Then I get a file screen that says Paula's (my wife) Ipo (E:) removable disk, file system Fat 32. There are a couple of file folders showing such as photos, calendar, and a file with a music note on it MetadataNeverindex file 0KB. This is the same screen she got when she plugged in her camera to download pictures to the PC. There is nothing on the menu side of the itunes screen that shows the ipod connected either. However, the ipod says connected. I have never run into this problem with any Ipod on any PC. I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated

First off, this is an iPhone forum and not an iPod forum.
Second, to remedy your situation, I would suggest removing iTunes completely from the computer following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
Do not skip a step in this article and then conclude by reinstalling it.

  • Problem with Nano after Updating

I recently bought an iPod Nano (Model MA005LL). When I first tried to put songs into it from iTunes it seemed like it worked - iTunes recognized it and successfully transferred the files. Then I noticed that couple of purchased songs didn't make it to my Nano's Playlist. I realized that I had to update the iPod Firmware. So, I downloaded & installed the latest Updater on my PC (running Win2K).
That's when the problem happened - during the update process, both my PC and Nano froze. So, I had no choice but to disconnect the Nano and kill the updater process. Since then neither does my iTunes recognize my Nano nor does the updater.
I think my PC recognizes it because whenever I disconnect the USB chord, the PC complains that I unplugged a device without stopping it first. Also, whenever I try to open Windows Explorer, it behaves extremely slow; whenever I plug it out, explorer goes back to normal.
I have tried ALL the 5 Rs and nothing works - the updater freezes everytime I try to use it with the iPod; so I can't restore it using the updater.
Another strange thing is that when I click on About, it not only says zero Songs & Photos, it also says 0 KB for Capacity & Available. The version does say 1.2 though. Also, the Format says Unknown.
So, at this point of time, my Nano is pretty much useless. I would really appreciate if anybody could please help me fix it such that I don't need to take it back to the store.

look on page 16(Help Nano 2g update problem) and if that does not help there is a really good one that I used myself on page 20(Problem with the update) which has a really good step by step process that returned mine to perfect working condition.

  • Problems with nano 2gen

I am having problems with my daughter's nano 2 gen ipod. One side of the stereo doesn't work. I have connected it to the computer, used 3 different headphones and a small speaker set and sound comes from one side only. Is it possible that the other side is mute, Can we "unmute" it?. or is this a repair issue. I tried the phone assistance, but the problems is not listed. I've reset the ipod, it didn't resolve the problem
Can anybody help??? or should I take it for repair.
    Thanks

The headphone jack is damaged and you should definitely take it in for repair. Either go to your nearest Apple Store and make a Genius Bar appointment before you go, or send it here:

  • Problem with Nano and Alpine KCA-420i

I own a Alpine KCA-420i iPod interface for the car. It worked perfectly with my iPod Mini. However with Nano, the KCA-420i doesn't seem to wake the Nano up when the car starts. The only way to wake it up is to physically disconnect the cable between the Nano and the KCA-420i and plug it back in again. Then everything works fine. Ipod Nano comes to life and music begins to play through the stereo.
Clearly, the iPod Mini and iPod Nano behave differently with respect to being woken up from 3rd party interfaces !!

Let alpine know, they told me they were working on getting the KCA20i compatible with the nano.

  • Problems with nano second gen

Anybody has a problem with ipod similar to mine? Ons speaker workd the other doesn't, or at least I cannot hear. I have connected it to the comoputer, and used 3 different headphone. Is it possible that one side is mute? or that that side is not working. The ipod is 4 months old, it has been like that for a month. I tried the phone support, it was useless, because the problem is not offered as an option.
    Can anybody help???
    Thank you

Thank you. I was very frustrated last night with this site, I was not able to get to that post a new topic. So I think at the end I posted 2 or 3 questions where I was able to, instead of in the right place.
    Thanks
My ipod problem has not been resolved, but this person was helpful and gudede me in the right direction

  • Startup and shut down problems with Nano

I am wondering if there are any preferences or settings I can change to prevent the following annoying problems:
    1. The Nano starts up on its own when jostled around in a bag with other items. Sometimes it will actually start playing and shuffling songs via the built-in speaker and drain the battery.
    2. The Nano is sometimes difficult to shut down: while holding the shut-off button at the bottom of the wheel, a menu drops down asking if I want to add the current song to "on-the-go." I am then forced to scroll up the menu to choose "cancel" and try to shut down again. Sometimes this irritating occurrence repeats itself over and over. Whatever "on-the-go" is, I would rather disable it than have this keep happening.

The Hold button is on the top of the iPod Nano not on the scroll wheel = iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual.

  • Problems with nano

My ipod nano froze so I restored it. Now whenever I try to update it with the songs in my itunes it transfers the song titles but not the songs. I get my whole list like I had before and it has all the song times but it just jumps from one to the next, nothing will play

Hiya and thanks for the reply.
No the ipod does not show in the source list, when it was new it did show in this list with the name I gave it at the time although I cant remember it. First time installation was without problems, I think the process of naming the ipod and typing the serial number bounded the two together if you will
Should I not be prompted again for my serial number and stuff because this is a new itunes version? I cant think of much else to try except a fresh windows install.
    Thanks

  • Problems with Nano and Lanyard...

I recently sent my Nano back to Apple for service . I use my Nano to Work out with along with a Crystal Case and Lanyard Headphones. When you workout people tend to sweat and because of the horrible design on Apples part they Claim that it is My Fault and will not repair it...Essentially it is my fault that their design makes the outcome a Customer problem and they "Decline Service. I cannot get them to repair or replace my Ipod for this reason. I own 4 Ipods and this will be the last one I ever own. They did not even try to contact me via Email or Phone, which their "Agreement" States when you sign on for Service. "Apple, Matbe you should call the Customer before you make Claims about Customer Neglect...Or do you not Know what a Customer is...That Nano is in the same condition today than the day I purchased it. I will be obtaining legal council..I BET, I am not the only person with this problem.

We are all customers. Apple Employees will not usually post here.
We can do nothing with your repair ID. We are not Apple. So, you want to obtain legal council, okay. What would you like us to do with that information?
Apple never said that they would contact you if they decline service. "Matbe" you should read the agreement a little more closely before making threats on a user-to-user support forum...
If you would like to get this resolved, then try giving Apple a call...
    Apple Phone Numbers
    (I would keep reading)
99.8% of the time (not real statistical data, don't want to be sued), Apple will not give you what you want when you are rude or threaten them.
Be kind on the phone, explain the situation and explain how you feel you didn't damage your iPod nano in any way. Ask them for more information on why your service request was denied.
We cannot do anything for you here...

  • Problems with Nano and itunes

    How are yas?
Ok I am having serious problems getting my Nano to be recognized by itunes. The Nano is recognized by both windows and the ipod updater but there is no option to update in itunes itself.
If i connect the ipod to my usb it will fire up itunes automatically which suggests there is some kind of recognition, but unfortunately this is not much help if the update option is still not available in itunes.
I thought this was software conflict so I tried the same processes to try and get it working on my other 2 machines but still the problem remains.
Im am qualified to work at computers so I do have a fair knowledge, but still after everything ive tried ive had no luck.
I have followed this link to the last word, everything on this page has been tried on my 3 computers aswell as various other problem pages ive read throughout the net :

  • Hardwe problems with Nano iPod 6

  • Problem with Nano 6G, It is recognized with all music in iTunes, but the screen of the nano itself will not turn on, help?

So, as stated it works perfectly fine on itunes; this meaning that all the music and the hardware information shows up on the computer, but the screen will not turn on when plugged in or when by itself, and the battery is fully charged, any one know how to fix this?

Read the PDF user manual for a possible solution:  iPod Manuals, search through Apple's Knowledge Base for support Articles and/or iPod Nano Support
Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.
If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • Serious Problem With Nano 4GB

I have an Ipod Nano 4GB version that was working perfectly. Today I purchased a song and tried to install it on my Ipod. It wouldn't install. I also noticed that the name had changed from "Erin's Ipod" to "Data" and I saw no songs installed when I viewed it from Itunes. But all of my songs were still installed on my Ipod.
I went through all of the steps. I uninstalled, restalled and restored factory defaults and I unplugged every other USB device on my computer. I still cannot add songs to it and now I have no songs at all.
I also noticed that when I use the updater it reports a capacity of 114.5 GB. Which, obviously is wrong and Itunes reports used 99.4 GB, free 16.81 GB.
    Someone please help!
    Thanks.

with those symptoms, we need need to check on the possibility from the following document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Problems with nano. Please help!!

    Ok, so here's my problem:
I few months ago I was trying to add songs onto my iPod nano when iTunes informed me I had too many (even though I only had 194 and no pictures). It said it could make me a temporary list of songs. I clicked "yes" and it made me a list. I didn't like this, though, so I deleted the list. Now, I can't update anything onto my nano. All the songs are still there in iTunes but when I try to update, it gives me this message saying, "The Playlist is no longer available."
I've been working on this for a while, but nothing seems to work. I've reset my iPod (but it wasn't full battery. Does that matter?) and everything. Any ideas? Thanks.

okay I hope this helps, because I do not remember exactly. GO to edit then preferences and then ipod, where it says, it will say only update selected playlist or something like that, change it to the other option which is something about the library I think. Sorry if I'm wrong, but i deffinatly fixed it by doing something in that playlist. I would plug my ipod in and tell you exactly how, but whenever I look at my ipod nano i cry because I know that the two-hundred dollars I got from my parents on my birthday went to an item that is broken because the LCD screen is broken from a little lipgloss. =/ . sorry i didn't mean to wallow. Hope i helped <3

  • Problem with nano settings

i have the 4gb nano, and it is only letting me fit 80 songs on it. i have changed the settings to apple lossless but it isn't converting the songs. i went to the apple store in my area and they said to simply change the format to apple lossless and that hasnt fixed the problem. please help...

    Hello yorick5270,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Apple lossless is an uncompressed format that are 10 times, or more, larger than compressed files. What you want to do is convert, or re-import, those songs using MP3 Encoder at 128 kbps.
