None of your Power PC Applications will work. You can check by going to the Apple Menu in the Menu Bar/About this Mac/More Info.
In System Profiler/Software/Applications/Kind  is where any Power PC Apps will be displayed. Those Apps are not supported.

  • Problems with scrolling after mountain lion download.

I just downloaded mountain lion today and ever since the download I am having issues with the scrolling for my magic mouse and trackpad. My problem is when I scroll down on my mouse or trackpad it actually goes up on the page and vice versa. I have seen others have had some scrolling issues but not exactly the same as mine. Just wondering if there is any known fix for this problem? I did the PRAM reset and also the SMC reset and that didn't fix the problem unfortunately.

Look in System Preferences > Trackpad (or mouse) > Scroll & Zoom tab > uncheck Scroll direction: Natural.
The scrolling direction has been changed to a technique where your push the screen up or pull it down, takes a few days to get used to.  The swipe directions will also be affected by this change.

  • Problem with Mail in Mountain Lion -- reply all function

Ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion in Mail when I hit reply all my email address is included in the cc line, so I get sent my responses.  Any one else having this problem or know how to fix it?  This didn't happen in previous versions.

re: "like on my iMac, when it sleeps, it doesn't fetch email anymore like it did before Mountail Lion"
First, this really should be in a seaparate thread.
What is happening, just like my MBP, is that ML is *actually* sleeping properly. For as long as I used 10.7 on my MBP, it appered to be sleeping, but it really was not (screen black, etc.). And yes, mail would still come through.
Now with ML, it sleeps like it is supposed to sleep, and mail is not received when asleep.
Nothing wrong, no bug, just working properly now.

  • PROBLEMS WITH JAMVOX AND MOUNTAIN LION ?

I USE THE JAMVOX GUITAR INTERFACE WITH MY MACBOOK PRO. EVERYTHING WAS WORKING HUNKY DORY AFTER UPGRADING TO MOUNTAIN LION...BUT THEN, AFTER ABOUT THREE WEEKS, IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. EVERY TIME I TRY TO START THE PROGRAM NOW,  GET THE SPINNING MAC "WAIT"  BALL. IM SEEING ON VOX'S WEBSITE THAT OTHERS ARE ALSO HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. HAS ANYONE FIGURED OUT A WORK AROUND ? MANY THANKS FOR THE HELP.

I am truly disappointed in the new operating system, is there anyway to switch back to OSX Lion and perhaps get my money back?
Why do you think that is the normal performance for Mountain Lion?
First thing to try is boot into Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key on restart.
It will take a little while to boot as it runs some disk checks. Once it is done, it will show the login screen. Log in and try it out. If everything seems normal, you likely have some third-party software that is incompatible with ML.
If it is still messed up, boot into the Recovery HD (cmd-r on restart) and Repair the disk using Disk Utility.
Restart and see if there are still problems.
If so, I would reinstall ML and see if that fixes the issues.

  • Problems with mail in mountain lion

I installed mountain lion and since doing so I cannot get past the migrating data window when I try to open mail.  I have tried deleting the envelope index (although I can't remove it from the trash as it continually says it is in use).  I have also tried moving the smartmailboxes.plist and backup files to my desktop but still no joy.  Can anyone suggest what to do next?
    Dan

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

  • Has anyone else had a problem with downloading OSX Mountain Lion?  It doesn't recognize my server!

What a terrible coincidence, nick70! I can assure that most updates go smoothly. I'm sorry to hear that yours didn't. • Problems with iMac since Mountain Lion upgrade

So , several problems that I have experienced since upgrading to Mountain Lion.
    1. When I "log off" off my iMac from the top left "apple" symbol, I get the rainbow wheel of death.
    2. When accessing YouTube home screen or yahoo in Safari, the page is a white screen. Nothing more, nothing less.
            *  I have been reading some people saying that this happens to them too, but only when using an account with parental controls.
    3. Hard drive "grinds" incessantly.
            * I have never even seen the rainbow wheel or heard my hard drive grind on my iMac untill this upgrade.
Anybody know of any solutions, or also having these issues?

For anyone else having the "white screen" issue with youtube, and/or yahoo issue. I seemed to have repaired the issue. I turned the parental controls off for both of my kids accounts, restarted my Mac, and the problem vanished.
I also turned the parental controls back on after this, restarted the computer, and the problem came back.
*** This is 100% a Parental Control/Mountain Lion glitch. Hopefully Apple knows and is working on a solution. The sooner they fix it, the sooner I can turn the parental controls back onto my kids accounts.

  • Problems with OS X Mountain Lion installation

What to do? This message keeps on prompting on each attempt to install os x mountain lion. "This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading." Even after deletion of the os x and re-installation, the same message keeps on prompting. Thank you for your help.

Try repairing your hard drive.  If the hard drive is corrupt, that could be corrupting the download.
If that's not the problem, it could be that your internet connection is bad, and is corrupting the download.  Try a different network.

  • Problem with WiFi on Mountain Lion

It is a problem WiFi with Mountain Lion on iMac 20”(2008)
WiFI on 5GHz band does not work since we moved to the Mountain Lion (gives two, tree pings and then „time out” and then repeat)
On 2.4GHz WiFi occasionally give a time out
This thing no happend on Lion.

I am having the same problems with my iMac since I've upgraded to Mountain Lion. I called Apple to resolve the issue but the computer still does not connect automatically to my network. I may have to call them again. Overall, my computer was fine before the upgrade.

  • Is there a problem with iChat on Mountain Lion

I usually use iChat to spk with my son in CO but last Saturday (27/09) we both had problems and he suggested support had been withdrawn for Mountain Lion.
    Is this true?

  • Is everybody getting problem with OS X Mountain Lion in this world or few people

Apple should fix immediately this new version or Genuis come ahead. I am checking every big informaton website but no one highlighted these issues.

    Hello BinodDhami,
I agree with Grant Bennet-Alder, what you see here "are only a handful" of users who are having problems big or small with Mountain Lion.
I for one have a smooth upgrade for both my iMac and MacBook air, and I think whoever were running Lion should have a smoother upgrade becasue Lion and Mountain Lion are very similar and they probably share a lot of the same codes, as compared to older OS.
It may be too late to say here, but whenever you perform a major OS upgrade, and like all mac websites have recommended, you always
    1. Perform all the OS and software updates
    2. Back up
You would also find out, especially if yours is a daily working computer, that your major running software is compatible with the new OS.
Like for me, I run Adobe Creative Suite, and have major apps like Norton Internet Security, Maintain Cocktail, SuperDuper, CandyBar, DockStar and Attachment Tamer running, so I make sure they are all compatible with Mountain Lion before I hit install.
As for your problem, maybe you can start a new discussion and detail as much as possible, your mac's problems, what 3rd party apps etc you have that you think might affect it, and screen shots - It's a wonderful thing now that this forum allows us to post screen shots!
    Cheers

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I am having all kinds of trouble connecting to the web. My connection drops and my network will not relaunch? Is anyone else having this problem?

It wasn't Mountain Lion, it was my moving my stuff to a place that had a internet address conflict. I redid all of mine, and now is working fine.

  • Problems with pages and mountain lion

Hey i just updated my iwork, and installed mountain lion, solely for the iwork icloud feature. I do a lot of work on my ipad and it would be very useful if they would sync with my macbook. But unfortunately when i create a new document in pages for the icloud it just says the files name and has a picture of a cloud underneath with "waiting" next to it. Why is this??

  • Problem with mail after mountain lion install

Mail has become sluggish to locking up after Mountain Lion install.  I get the color wheel each time I start typing in an address to send an email.  I also get the wheel when i am typing an address or name in any web page in Safari.  Is this a Mail Problem or an Address Book problem?

It sounds like your computer needs to be cleaned up. Have your repaired permissions or cleared caches since you got the computer. Often times when upgrading operating systems permissions get screwed up and it causes issues.  Go to disk utility in your "other" folder in applications.  Select disk utility, then on the left hand side choose Mac HD then click REPAIR permissions in the center section. Wait for it to finish, restart your computer, then test.
