Problem with reCAPCHA plug-in

hi,
i m using Apex4.1 and data base oracle 11g, browser firefox
i m using recaptcha plugins i had tried it with both way by creating 3 hidden field and and also directly with taking a item based on plugin. (http://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/adding-captcha-to-your-oracle-apex-application/)
More specifically, the page has two items for user input (the captcha and a text item) and a Submit button. If the captcha is successful, then the text item will be submitted and redirect to another page. The problem I'm running into is that the text item is always submitted regardless of the captcha.
any ideas?

Hi Patrick
I came across this thread searching for the same issue.  I was unsure as to what site (though a quick browse through the plugin reveals www.google.com) and which user to use. So,  would just like to add a bit more information to your answer.
When adding the necessary ACL grants, add it for either *.google.com or www.google.com to principal user "APEX_xxxxx".  For example:

    description  => 'Permissions to access www.google.com',
    principal    => 'APEX_040200',

    acl          => 'google_apex.xml',
