Problem with the volume keys on my keyboard.

Hey everybody,
I have a problem with the volume keys on my keyboard. This started a couple days ago and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. When I press the volume up or down buttons, the graphic appears on the screen as it normally would, but has no effect on the volume of the sound coming out of my speakers.  Therefore, the only way to change the volume of music or whatever I am listening to is to use the volume control within the program/website itself (itunes, youtube, etc.) Even changing the volume on the volume icon at the menu bar on top of the screen does nothing.  If anyone has an idea of how to go about solving this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

First look into the Preference > Sound > Outpur whether internal Speakers are choosen.
The only Preference to delete I can discover is com.apple.systempreferences.plist in your home Library folder. You can try to move it out to the desktop for example, not to loose all your settings. Restart and see whether the problem still persists. If you don't know how to do this here some Terminal (Applications > Utilities) commands. Enter them by copy and paste followed by <enter>
mv ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist ~/Desktop/
restart
to get it back:
mv ~/Desktop/com.apple.systempreferences.plist  ~/Library/Preferences/
confirm with "y" if you are asked to replace this file.

  • Problems with the A key in landscape keyboard iPhone 5s (32GB AT&T black)

    I have a black iPhone 5s 32Gb through AT&T.
Recently I've been having a lot of problems with typing in landscape mode.  It may only be in the messages app, I'm not sure, that's definately when I notice it the most.  What happens is I will be typing very fast and I'll go to type 'a' and nothing happens.  I try a few more times and frequently the phone will freeze for a second, sometimes go black, sometimes even crash the app.  If I flip the phone to type in portrait I don't have any problem.
Has anyone else seen this?  Is this a software issue or is something wrong with my hardware?

Try to reset the device by pressing hold of the home and power button for 15-20 seconds and letting of when the Apple logo appears.

  • I have a new hard drive and itunes and my computer (windows XP) no longer recognise my ipod. I also had the problem with the registry keys not being present but this has now been fixed. However i can no longer link my ipod up with itunes.

When I first tried itunes with my new hard drive there was the problem with the registry keys but something also flagged up about needing a signed driver. Is this anything to do with why Itunes and my computer no longer recognises when my ipod is linked up? Whatever i try under 'devices' my ipod is never available to sync up. If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this has not worked. I didn't have quicktime to begin with so I don't know if that makes a difference? After following the instructions, I get the "registry keys missing" problem appear again (which I've subsequently fixed again) and then when I connected the ipod I got the following message - 'Device driver software was not successfully installed'.
I've tried windows update but this doesn't do anything as '...the service is not running'.
    Any suggestions?

  • Bug: problems with the Escape key

    Hi all,
In an attempt to get around real estate problems, I set my Dell 24" monitor in portrait mode. Logic 8 behaves as it should most of the time. However, there appears to be a problem with the Escape key. Most of the time, the Tools menu doesn't appear until you mouse out of the editing areas (eg into the menu area above the piano roll).
Clearly, Logic should just take its resolution and screen dimensions from the OS but there appears to be a problem in extreme portrait mode.
I'll report this but wanted to check that I'm not being an absolute and total plonker first. Anybody confirm this behaviour?
    Thanks!
    Pete

that sounds like a memory issue. have you tried reorganizing memory?

  • Problems with the Period Key

This may be strange, but when I type a period "." strange thins happen in Mail and Safari! It is as if when typing a period it is like hitting the return key! Forinstance, if I'm typing a web address in on Safari, as soon as I type a period in the address bar, Safari goes and tries to look up the address before I finish.
Or, in Mail, when I type a period in the body of the message, the cursor moves down a line like I hit the return key. It even happens while I type this message and it ONLY happens with the period key. This is fustrating! Does anyone have ideas as to how to fix this? I have all upgrades installed and my powerbook generally is running great except for this. Help?

Don't you have the year dim joined with the fact?

  • Problems with the "X" Key ...

Since quite a while I noted that I real often miss the "X" key when typing a text. I always treated it as my fault (a typo), especially as it works when typing it a second time. But meanhwile I have to say that it only happens with that "X" key and as I never has a wrong letter in my text and just a missing "X", I start wondering whether there is a problem.
Now I feel like I have read something about a thing like this a while ago. Unfortunatley I cannot remember where ...
I also have a hard time searching the Discussions due to difficult search arguments (wow, try X and key ...).
So my question before I going to buy me a new keyboard ... does anybody has the same feeling that the "X" key fails rather often? Or does even somebody know about a know problem?
Thx for your info on that!

  • Problems with the alt key and numbers, please help major issue

All of a sudden I am unable to use the alt key with any numbers, meaning I can't create hashes (alt 3) and bullets (alt 8), and others that I haven't missed yet. I've tried two keyboards, one wireless and one wired but to no avail. It seems to work fine for everything except 3 through 9.
I found somebody with the same issue beforehand:
*I have finally tracked the problem down to a problem preference file, namely this one:*
    com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist
*I have no idea what it's supposed to do, but it wasn't doing it right.*
But even still, it made no sense to me, can anybody help me? This is an issue that's been disrupting everything I do on my Mac for a few days now, and not found the issue as yet.

Feel a bit silly now! Just sorted it myself, had a look around my hard drive, and deleted the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist file, and restarted, when I started up and tested it my ¡€#¢∞§¶•ªº keyboard alt tab seemed to work!
For future reference, just do this and restart afterwards:
    [YourHardDrive]>>Users>>[YourUserName]>>>Library>>>Preferences>>>com.apple.symbo lichotkeys.plist>>>Delete that>>>Restart your Mac and you've fixed it.
    Cheers anyway!

    06 Linda Green 30-JUL-87 04-JAN-96 4322.78 New York "NULL"
There is a null in the duplicate data.....
As there is NULL in the data It is not allowing me to add the primary key to the table.....
I am just looking if there is any other way to create primary key with the same data....the reason for the null not allowing you to have unique records is because null means "unknown". I could go into this in more depth but....
...again - we need to ask, why do you have linda green and robert black in there twice.
if you really do need those two extra rows, then create another column with a unique ID using a sequence and make that the primary key. a primary key uniquely identifies a row. for this data I don't see any reason whatsoever to create a composite key like you are attempting.
by trying to make the entire row a primary key it is clear your understanding is severely lacking.

    PrivateKey key = (PrivateKey)keyStore.getKey(aliasNm, null);
    gen.addSigner(key, signCert, SMIMESignedGenerator.DIGEST_SHA1, new AttributeTable(signedAttrs), null);
where key is the private key of the alias from signature certificate at smart card of type RSAPrivateKey type, according to the debugger
but according to the javadoc returns Type Key but is forced to type PrivateKey which extends to the other.
This line is like a example which I'm using, is a bouncy castle example, but with generated certificates, I changed to use certificates
    from smarct card.
signCert is the certificate associated with key , certificate of SIGNATURE from smartcard.
    At the debugger:
In the method keyStore.getKey() I'm using null instead of char[] password because is using the windows certificate store which store the
certificates at the smart card and is getting the PIN with PIN dialogue, and is loading the keystore perfectly and I'm getting the
    certificates from smart card.
    I tried to use:
    PrivateKey key = (PrivateKey)keyStore.getKey(aliasNm, PIN_FROM_SMARTCARD);
And I'm getting the same value when I use null.
The value at the debugger is:
    (java.security.PrivateKey) (sun.security.mscapi.RSAPrivateKey) RSAPrivateKey [size=2048 bits, type=Signature,
container=hexadecimal_number](the same hexadecimal number in both cases)
Obviously we can see in the error:
Caused by: java.security.InvalidKeyException: Supplied key (sun.security.mscapi.RSAPrivateKey) is not a RSAPrivateKey instance
    And we can see too:
    RSAPrivateKey de 2048 bits
at the debugger, in the key value.
I can't understand why I'm getting the error only when the message is saved, or sended.
If the key was inappropriate I would receive an error, or an exception when I'm not sending or saving the message.
These are one, of the last lines of the code that I'm hidding with //
    When I save the message:
    //body.writeTo(new FileOutputStream("signed.message"));
    Whe I send the message:
    //Transport.send(body);
If I uncomment one of these lines, I'm receiving the errors, previously written above
    Any suggestion?
    Than you

  • Having problem with the volume on my Iphone 4.  Advise greatly appreciated.

My mom gave my daughter her Iphone 4.  We have updated everything but now the volume is not working when she plays music.  Any helpful ideas on what is causing this issue.

    Hey cacobo,
I found an article that can help with troubleshooting an iPhone's receiver or speakers.
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
    Hope that helps,
    David

  • Hello I have a problem with the main key of iphone 4.

About 11 mounts I am using my telephone without any problem. But there is about 20 days the main key not work clearly. what can I do?

If the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide don't help (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't help, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation
