Problem with track times and importing

Importing CDs onto my iTunes is usually OK, but on one CD a couple of tracks transfer to iTunes with incorrect playing time. Track 7 which is 2:54 shows on iTunes as 37:09; track 8 which is 3:25 shows on iTunes as 789:57:13 and will not play after being imported. Both play OK from CD.
I have the latest version of iTunes installed on XP Pro. This is the result from CD Diagnostics:

Problems with track pad and osx installation disc on macbok.

Okay so I am having two separate problems with my macbook.
First, the track pad, or the button beneath it, is pretty much completely out of commission. When I try and use it, the computer acts as if I am holding down the button all the time. Example, when I drag it across the desktop, the "click-and-drag" square starts appearing next to the cursor or when move the cursor on an icon, it tries to click and drag that. The only way that I can fix it thus far is to hook up my wireless mouse. Hoping someone else has a better solution so that I can continue to use the notebook on the go without having to bring the mouse. Note: the button does not appear to be depressed in anyway.
Second problem is happening when I attempt to reboot the computer with the OS X Leopard disk in for a re-installation. When the gray start-up screen appears, before the gray apple comes on the middle of the screen, a folder icon with a question mark on it appears for a split second and then turns into the normal apple icon after which my OSX disk is spit out of the drive and the computer boots straight to the desktop. I have attempted holding down the control button, the option button, and starting the process while the computer is still turned on and then just restarting it, the disc is ejected upon restart every time. I have reinstalled the OS with this disk once before and it has worked fine and other disks seem to be working fine in the drive, so I am at a lost here.
I know that was a lot of info but if anyone out there can help me out with either one of these problems it would be much appreciated.

exactly the same issu with the track pad here.
I v tried to use it without the battery but the problem persist.
If I use an USB mouse i can move it arnd but wen I click or double click nothing happen...so is useless.Same problem with the Blur Tooth wireless mouse.
The issue appear several months ago...after a couple of weeks went away, and now is back again. I try the routine manteinance but nothing solved the issue.
Any suggestion? I have some urgent work to do ...I will try tomorrow to bring it in an apple store but I can't leave it with them ..

Problems getting track times to import.

I have experienced a problem where the CD track times display on the CD I am importing, but when that CD is in the Library, some or all tracks display "not available" for the track time. When those tracks are downloaded to the I-pod, they get skipped over. Is there a way to edit in track times in the library, and in I-tunes itself? I'd like to not have to re-import a bunch of CD's if at all possible.

As far as I know, you can only generate track names on CD's from Gracenote if the order, the amount of tracks and the time per track on your CD is correct (= original).
So, if you have complete albums, and you are able to 'reconstruct' them as described above (same tracks in same order as on the original CD), than burn a CD from this. Mount this CD in iTunes, and let it search in Gracenote; if you did a good job, you will receive your track names. You can now re-import your tracks to iTunes.
But, when the albums that are incomplete or when you don't want to spoil all this empty CD's, I think you'll have to retype all your track names. Maybe you can look for the track names on Gracenote or amazon and copy-paste this.
One good thing : if you have converted your AAC's to AIFF's (that's how I understand it), you did get rid of the protection and you will be able to burn as many CD's from this songs as you want

Problem with index markers and importing MS Word 2007 files

This was ugly in that it wasn't caught until after a book had been typeset and the index was being finalized. I'm now having to go back and manually insert a zillion index markers. Not fun.
This was my first project since migrating from FM 7.1 to FM9.0.3.
Source documents are Microsoft Word 2007. Am working in Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit.
When the Word files were imported into FrameMaker, only SOME of the index markers were imported. The difference between those that were imported and those that weren't was seemingly random.
I did some testing and found the problem and a solution.
Looking at the source Word .docx file, and displaying hidden text shows two types of index markers:
1. { XE "word to be indexed"}
2. {xe "word to be indexed"}
Note the difference in case and the extra space after the opening brace in #1. Markers of type 1 were imported fine. Markers of type 2 were stripped by the import process.
The solution:
Backsave the Word file to Word 2003 format (.doc) before importing into FrameMaker.
I backsaved to Word 2003 and imported using both the "Microsoft Word" and "Microsoft Word 2007" filters and both filters imported correctly. It's only when trying to import a Word 2007 .docx file directly that things run amok.

Thank you for posting your solution, Dan. It's cold comfort, but I've also ran into this issue in the past, almost certainly well before Word2003 though, probably as far back as Word2000 or earlier.
In your testing, did you try saving as RTF to see if the markers were homogenized, by any chance? In my simple testing just now, Word itself recognized the index field correctly no matter whether I changed the field to "xe" or "XE", but FM's import of the .docx file format wouldn't recognize "xe", only "XE". But importing an RTF file handled both upper- and lower-case entries.
Ah, yes, that's it -- saving the Word2007 file as RTF (with 2 fields, one caps, one lower-case) changed cap field to lower-case when the RTF is opened in Word again, so saving as RTF does homogenize the fields to lower-case. Is it possible that your file(s) were changed to or saved as RTF at any point in their life-cycle? I believe some older versions of Word were actually RTF under the hood, too -- if you do Save As in Word2007 you can scroll through the File Type entries and see "Word 97-2002 & 6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc)" I believe some doc management systems change binaries to RTF too, or conversely some apps create RTF but they name the files as doc.
So Word itself recognizes either lower- or upper-case, and FM's RTF import handles both, but not the .docx import.

Problems with quick time and phone

hi guys
im having problems with my quicktime media player where if i want to open or play a movie it says it doesnt support the file but if i open it up on a different media playr such as vlc it does.
also this problem arises as ive got a new mobile phone which is the k800i model which is only compatible and opens up movies in quicktime player only but when i download them on to my phoone they wont open saying error.
can anybody help me out coz ive just bought a momoery card for my phone and i would like to put some vidoes on it but it wont let me.

The printing software doesn't use Java (in any way). It does require QuickTime but version 10.2 is installed on your machine.
Maybe it wants an older version?

QuickTime Player 7 installs in the Utilities folder and you can use both versions on your machine.

Nokia 500 Problem with Tracking mode and touch sc...

I just bought Nokia 500 and I am having lot of problem
1. When I use navigator..it should be in tracking mode not in browing mode so I can see where i am going on where is the turn. But as soon as it calculate the route, withing few second it automatically comes in browsing mode. Even if I press back arrow on left bottom corner it again shows browsing mode. However, sometime it's working fine and always display tracking mode. I am not sure how to switch between the mode. As per manual, I need to hit the back arrow left bottom corner but that does not work for me.
2. The second problem is really bad. The touchscreen response is slow. It looks like the processor is slow. Particularly if I go to Setup menu..it automatically goes to system. I just touch Setup on main menu and sometimes it automatically goes into system. If I manually go to system..it automatically goes to About ..menu. It just behaves randomly..I have done screen calibration many times. but still issue is there. Also, when I got to keyboard to enter address..it automatially press Q key. Not sure what's wrong here
Anybody please suggest me what's wrong. Do I need to replace it with nokia?

Why is my Mozilla Version 6.0.1 having problems with Bookmark Export and Import (html) ?

I have used this feature numerous times with no problems. Starting yesterday, when I export html bookmark file, I get a delay - and then the html file is extraordinarily large (16,400 KB versus 782 KB normal file size).
Also, when I attempt to import a saved html file, the new file will not save. Again, when I hit the "Export" or "Import"button, there is a prolonged delay.
Should I delete Mozilla and reinstall ?

Thanks for the insight. I seem to have solved the problem and can now sync iCal with my phone's calander as I used to without using iCloud. I am running the same setup as you (iTunes 11.0.1, osx 10.6.8, iOS 6.0.1) so, if you want, I'm sure you can do this too (although it seems you now hae found a good solution yourself). Anyway, here it is for the archives:
When my phone was connected to iTunes, iTunes was showing that my Calander was being updated over the air by iCloud. It was not giving me any other options to choose which calanders to sync etc. So...
On your iPhone, go to settings>>iCloud and turn calandars OFF.
Now when you connect it to iTunes you can see all the old options under calandars and syncing between the two devices is back to 'normal'.
I don't know when this iCloud setting got switched on my phone (I didn't even know it existed before this episode), probably when I updated iOS/iTunes recently.

Problem with track pad and keyboard

Mac Air was working fine when suddenly the track pad started behaving like I was highlighting things when moving across the screen and trying to fill in boxes etc also an intermittent delay when typing. Don't know what could have caused this - I haven't changed any settings and wouldn't have thought it was a virus. Any suggestions as to how to fix?

Take it back to the place that installed the battery and ask them to check their installation.

On my previous pc I got what I want, Artist folder, Album folder and file with track number and name:

In iTunes my settings are Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced: iTunes Music folder: D:\My Music and checkmark in both: “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”.
My version of iTunes is 8.0.1.11

It will depend on the album. Gracenote considers anthologies, a collection of tracks by the same artist taken from different albums, as a compilation. In iTunes the compliation setting should really only be applied to a collection of tracks by different artists.

I've got a similar problem. iTunes v10.2 worked fine, but when I tried to update it to 10.5 I got a 'Bonjour' error. I eventually solved that but I still couldn't upgrade to 10.5, so I deleted every single Apple, Quicktime, iTunes, etc file on my PC using Revo Unistaller (because the normal Windows Add/Delete programs wouldn't work) but now, when I install the latest iTunes version from scratch (on XP SP3), it says: "the installer encountered errors before it could be configured.... your system has not been modified"
Any ideas?

Old problem with precision time counting and /usepmtimer solution.

There was a problem in Windows XP and 2003 Server with using QueryPerformanceCouner() function. Sometimes it can cause problem with precision time measurements on CPUs which support powersaving modes by changing clock frequency. The simplest solution for that was /usepmtimer key in boot.ini file which forces the system to use another timer.
I just want to know does this problem appear in Windoes 7? And how to solve it since there is no boot.ini file in Windows 7?

Also the KB article only refere to the OS which have performance problem.
