Problem with truncation of suffixing zeros

Hello friends,
I have a query regarding the below issue:
   SELECT TO_CHAR(12345.60, '99999D99'), TRUNC(15.80, 2), LPAD(RPAD (16408.80, 20, ' '), 10, ' ')
  FROM dual;
When I hit this query the, numeric value to be displayed in my report should be '16408.80', but when I use LPAD, RPAD the '.80' (zero) gets eliminated/truncated.
As per the above query can I get the desired output using LPAD/RPAD or without converting the number to character type  For ex. TO_CHAR(12345.60, '99999D99')

Hi,
Numbers do no have trailing 0's.  The following are all different strings that represent the same number:
16408.8
16408.0
16408.0000000000000000
The concept of trailing 0's only applies to strings.  If the concept applies to this situation, then use a string in this situation. For example, a string literal
RPAD ('16408.80', 10, ' ')
or the string returned by TO_CHAR:
RPAD (TO_CHAR (16408.80, 'FM9999999.00'), 10, ' ')
By the way,
LPAD (x, 10, ' ')
is guaranteed to return a string exactly 10 characters long.  If x is 20 characters long (as the string returned by RPAD (y, 20, ' ') is guaranteed to be), then LPAD will only remove the last 10 characters.  Why add them in the first place?

  • Download to EXCEL - Problem with truncating leading zeros

    Hello Experts
    I have Reqs-
When i download data into EXCEL some of the fields like PERNR lets say if the valus of the PERNR is 01000032 then in the excel it is displaying it as 1000032 or esle if a DATE field with value 02/03/2007 (obtained by concatenating MM / DD / YYYY) it is displaying in the excel as 2/3/2007.
I dont want the truncating of zeros to happen.
Any INPUT will be rewarded with points.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Try to use this FM.
There are two very important functional modules ,which are used to add zeroes(‘0’)  & Remove zeroes(‘0’)  from  numeric string input respectively.
The functional module ‘CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT’ comes handy in this situation.
Another functional module ‘CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT’ is used to reverse the Operations performed by the above FM.
Let us look up the first case.
    Function Module: CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT
    PARAMETER:
Importing Parameter: Input   of  type ‘C’
Exporting Parameter: Output of type ‘C’.
This function module is use to add zeroes (‘0’), to the left of the  numeric string input ,after making the input  numeric string right justified .
If the input string is non-numeric (including alphanumeric) , string is stored as left justified ,with blanks towards the right.
If the string is numeric say  vehicle number , vlcvehicle-vhcle( 10 char)
    INPUT  :  ‘123456’
    OUTPUT : ‘0000123456’
    Whereas if string is non-numeric
    INPUT :    ’ABCD’
    OUTPUT:  ‘ABCD’.
Hope this will solve your problem.
    Regards
    Balaji

  • Updated to CR 2008 - now have new problem with truncated String fields.

    Hi there
I'm hoping someone has a simple answer for this one...  notice there's a lot of it on forums but I haven't found an answer.
Since updating to Crystal 2008 (Crystal 12), we have found that some reports are suddenly truncating string fields at 255 characters, despite the field value being much longer in the database.
Does anyone know what to do to allow these fields to print in completion?
    Database connection is ODBC RDO.
    regards
    -Karen

What is the database Oracle, SQL server etc.
Can you query the database directly with another query tool, eg SQL Server Management Studion or SQL developer/Toad for Oracle.
You can then run the Crystal query directly and see if its your ODBC connection that is truncating the datafield or Crystal.
I have memo fields on SQL server with up to 2000 characters and these display in Crystal 2008 without any problem. We use ODBC (RDO) too.

  • Problem with truncate

    Hello!
i try to delete all the data of specific Partitions (oracle version 8). The problem i got, is that after truncate the data are gone, but the Storage-Space is still used.
I even disabled all the constraints before truncate the partitions.
this is a record of what i did:
    1.) alter table ODS.Berichtswerte disable constraint BRW_PK;
    alter ...... .....
    2.) alter table ODS.BERICHTSWERTE truncate partition BRW_P200109 DROP STORAGE;
    alter table ODS.BERICHTSWERTE truncate partition BRW_P200110 DROP STORAGE;
    alter ..... ....
    3.) alter table ODS.BERICHTSWERTE DEALLOCATE UNUSED;
    4.) alter table ODS.Berichtswerte enable constraint BRW_PK;
    5.) ALTER INDEX ODS.BRW_PK REBUILD;
    has anybody some ideas?
    thx in advance!!

You find this seriously easier than
    create table tmp_berichtswerte as select * from berichtswerte where 1=0;
    alter table berichtswerte exchange partition brw_p200109 with table tmp_berichtswerte;
drop table tmp_berichtswerte;If you have a lot of partitions, you could build a PL/SQL block and execute the statements for every partition
(In this case you would better truncate table tmp_berichtswerte rather than dropping and recreating it for every single partition)

  • Problem with Plot Starting at Zero Seconds.vi

In document with ID: 4KTFBLE9 an example vi is offered.  Its name is "Plot Starting at Zero Seconds.vi".  I have problems in "borrowing" the function labeled "Waveform Chart", comprising a box with the text "XScale Multiplier".  When I transfer this function to another vi, the function is transmutated to another function.  What happens, and what am I doing wrong?

This is a property node and it will only link directly to items in the same VI. If you move it to a different VI, it will turn into a plain property node.
If you have another waveform chanrt in the other VI, you can right-click the copied proeprty node and select "link to..." and select the local waveform chart.
If you want it to act on the "other" wavform chart, you need to make the second VI a subVI and wire the reference to it via a connector.
If you want to create a new such property node, simply right-click the waveform chart and select the desired property.

  • Problem with document splitting and zero balance clearing account

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We've already configured the document splitting functionality in our project, however we still encounter some issues with the outcome of posting documents. For some scenarios, the document split functionality seem to work. Below is such example
    Scenario # 1
    Entry View:
    40  Expense (cost ctr 0001)
    31  AP
    GL view:
    40 Expense (cost ctr 0001)
    31 AP (cost ctr 0001)
However, whenever 2 GL items are included in the document, the document split functionality acts differently.
    Scenario # 2
    Entry View:
    40 Expense # 1 (cost ctr 0001)
    40 Expense #2 (cost ctr 0002)
    31 AP
    GL view:
    40 Expense # 1 (cost ctr 0001)
    40 Expense #2 (cost ctr 0002)
31 AP (no cost ctr assignment)
40 Zero Balance Clrg  (no cost ctr assignment)
50 Zero Balance Clrg (cost ctr 0001)
40 Zero Balance Clrg (no cost ctr assignment)
50 Zero Balance Clrg (cost ctr 0002)
I was just wondering how come the AP item did not split accordingly to the cost center indicated in the entry view. Can anyone please assist me on this one? Thanks in advance and best regards.

    Hi Milind,
    Thanks for the reply.
I've done the below configuration and assigned cost/profit center update. It now works for profit center split. It still does not split accordingly per cost center though.
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide > Financial Accounting (New) > Financial Accounting Global Settings (New) > Ledgers >Ledger > Assign Scenarios and Customer Fields to Ledgers
In the below configuration, cost center is not an available option. Unlike the profit center which is available here.
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide > Financial Accounting (New) > General Ledger Accounting (New) > Business Transactions > Document Splitting > Define Document Splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting
The profit center split looks fine now, however the cost center split still is only reflected in the expense items and not on the AP item.
Any ideas on how to actually split the AP line items according to the cost center assignments ?

  • Stacked 100% bar chart - Problem with datatips for zero value data points

I have a stacked 100% bar chart that shows datatips in Flex 4.   However, I don't want it to show datatips for
data points with zero values.   Flex 4 shows the datatip for a zero value data point on the left side of a bar if the data point is not the first in the series.
Here's the code that illustrates this problem.    Of particular concern is the July bar.    Because of the zero value data point problem, it's not possible to see the datatip for "aaa".
Any ideas on how we can hide/remove the datatips for zero value data points ?        Thanks.

There are many people having the same problem (according to the ROCKSTAR forum), so I think the problem is from the GTA V and the NV Graphics Driver.

I'm sure that the long term solution should be a game patch or the new NV driver. It's better that you report the issue to the ROCKSTAR GAMES.

    Hi Chhayank,
the problem is not the exported xls. If you have a look inside with Notepad or something like that, you will see that your leading zeros are exported correct.Excel-settings occurs this problem, it is all about how to open the document. If you use the import-assistant you will have no problems because there are options available how to handle the different columns.
Another solution might be to get familiar with ABAP2XLS-Project. I got in my mind, that there is a method implemented, that will help you solving this problem. But that is not a five minute job

  • Problem with MP3 audio books - truncating

My shuffle is truncating the end of each part (track?) of my MP3 audio books. It loses the last one or two sentences. Is there something I can do to fix this?
I'm using the OverDrive Media Console to borrow books from the library. I have no problem with WMA format books (they appear as audiobooks in the shuffle listing). The MP3 books show up as "Music".
I'm manually managing music, which is required to transfer audio from OverDrive to my shuffle.
    MC754LL/A iPod shuffle 2 GB
    Model A1373
    software version is 1.0.1

I use "My Media Mall" (http://www.mymediamall.net) to check out audio books from the library. They come in 2 formats - mp3 & WMA. When I check out a book it downloads to OverDrive Media Console. Then in OverDrive I transfer the book to my shuffle (through the manually mange the storage option). If I then start itunes, I can see what's been downloaded and what all the properties are. By default WMA books are loaded as audiobooks and there is an automatic play list created. The mp3 books are loaded, by default, into the music section.
Per your original suggestion, I converted the "music" attribute to an "audiobook" attribute, which automatically move the files and created a playlist for the book. It did not stop the truncation problem. I then converted the book back to music, and selected the "gapless album" feature. This has significantly reduced the amount of truncation so that it's gone from a couple of sentences to less than a full sentence.
If I listen to the book on my computer (windows) through itunes, there are no gaps, and no problem automatically finding the next part to play.
FYI - each audiobook is made of several parts (usually 8 - 11 for the books I listen to). Each part contains multiple chapters. Some books only break parts over a chapter break, others seem to divide the parts into semi-equal sizes. If in the shuffle I "skip to next track", it starts the next part. The voice-over feature on the shuffle announces each playlist (eg. book1, book2) and then each individual part (book1 part 01, book2 part 02, etc.). Usually when I start a book, I use the voice-over to find the playlist instead of locating a specific part. If I've been listening to the book via itunes, then I'll have to step through the playlist until the second portion where it lists the individual portions.

  • Problem with video, My upload video is zero when I initiate ???

I recently upgraded my cable to 8megs download, 1 full meg upload.
Now in some two way and most three way video chats my upload starts as
zero or goes to zero shortly.
When it does work intermittently, it is very high. Connection doctor shows up and downloads as high as 900 framerate 20.
I have roadrunner time warner cable, no router, no firewalls, QT streaming set at 1.5 as Ralph and other say, NONE as limite in ichat. I have tried altering the AIM port from 5190 to 443 no help.
Could it be a bad modem? Is there a problem with ichat being able to match the higher upload and download I have now with the premium service/ Prior to this I had no problem with two way ichats. I only went to premium service because the prior service was just not quite enough to initiate three way videos, the upload was only 340 at best.
    Thanks everyone,
    Evan
My computer is imac intel core duo, 2.16 2 gb memory

    Hi Evanshaw,
    Ok on the Uninstall.
I would Repair Permissions and run the Cron scripts at this point just to get it as Clean a system as it can be.
See here for Why and Links.
    1) The Instant On setting seems to make no difference.
Changing the Streaming setting to match your download or to 1.5Mbps is the real key of the Quicktime adjustment.
    2) Newer modems seem to offer forwarding not only ports but list the Protocols as well.
Now in earlier devices it was impossible to forward the same port to two computers (IP addresses) on most of them.
As port 5190 needs to be forwarded for TCP and UDP it as if the modem thinks it is being forwarded twice.
For this reason we suggest that as a test at least that the Login port is dropped to port 443. This does two things:
    a) drops it below the 1024 threshold and avoids NAT being done on it.
    b) Leaves just 5190 on UDP to be forwarded in the Modem.
Just changing the port in iChat seems to do it, as then no data is on the 5190 TCP port.
    3) As for the lower spec machine.
The lowest spec Mac can be a G3/600 with at least 100kbps up and down to Video chat.
A G4/1Ghz single processor is in fact at the lowest point of Multichats IF the connection is at least 384Kbps both up and down. (I used to have 1Mb down and only 256K up and Host multichats [on a Dual 1Ghz G4) so there is a sort of tolerance in these figures).
iChat works out a compromise that works in most cases so I would not worry too much.
    4) Yes it is fair to say that pushing the envelope on the Specs does have an Effect.
My G4/Dual 1Ghz is fast enough and my previous internet speeds had a too low Uplink but did allow me to multichat. (there seems to be some sort of balancing out/averaging going on). However adding a second and a third Buddy to make a Four way did cause some blurriness of the pictures.
Also If I was invited to a Chat as a non host My slowness could effect the chat as well but to a lesser extent.
Get the fastest Computer with the best internet connection to Host.
    5) With new modems it is sometimes difficult to judge whether they are good or not.
Sometimes they come loaded with "extra" features that can impact on something like iChat.
    For Instance:
    a) Denial of Service Attack protection (DoS) This is supposed to stop your computer being swamped with requests if you were running a web page server. It judges if too much data is coming to your machine and closes the connection if it thinks this is happening. Sometimes this is too restrictive for Video Chats at the Quality that iChat can produce. As to whether a particular device can alter this in a setting tends to vary. (my Netgear is an On or Off setting)
    b) SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) is Similar but devices that have this can normally adjust it.
    c) QoS (Quality of Service) is similar again but more restrictive than SPI and more like DoS
    d) As I have mentioned Protocols on Port Forwarding.
    e) There is a setting on most devices called the MTU. It is about packet size. The default is always 1500 and changing it to 1492 can help.
    f) The way the device may do NAT (Network Address Translation) may not be liked by the device at the other end. It has about 6 main popular ways this is done by Manufacturers and can be a problem. (Hence the push towards UPnP if you have it as UPnP does not use NAT).

  • Problem with htmldb 2 (Sorry APEX)!

I installed htmldb 2 on a windows XP, Oracle 10gR1 (which has enhanced by companion CD downloaded form Oracle's site). Everything went OK but when I want to connect to it by this url: http://localhost:7777/pls/htmldb it takes my username, pass but says:
    "Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Oracle-HTTP-Server/1.3.28 Server at localhost Port 7777"
I noticed many differences between my installed Apache and documents of htmldb. I run a 9.0.4.0.0 Apache server and the dads.conf and httpd.conf are as following:

    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://www.apache.org/docs/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # After this file is processed, the server will look for and process
    # E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/conf/srm.conf and then E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/conf/access.conf
    # unless you have overridden these with ResourceConfig and/or
    # AccessConfig directives here.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    # 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    # whole (the 'global environment').
    # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    # These directives also provide default values for the settings
    # of all virtual hosts.
    # 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    # different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    # same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
    # will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
    # confusion.
    ### Section 1: Global Environment
    # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
    # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
    # can find its configuration files.
    # ServerType is either inetd, or standalone. Inetd mode is only supported on
    # Unix platforms.
    ServerType standalone
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
    ServerRoot "E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Companion\Apache\Apache"
    # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    # identification number when it starts.
    PidFile logs/httpd.pid
    # ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.
    # Not all architectures require this. But if yours does (you'll know because
    # this file will be created when you run Apache) then you must ensure that
    # no two invocations of Apache share the same scoreboard file.
    ScoreBoardFile logs/httpd.scoreboard
    # In the standard configuration, the server will process httpd.conf (this
    # file, specified by the -f command line option), srm.conf, and access.conf
    # in that order. The latter two files are now distributed empty, as it is
    # recommended that all directives be kept in a single file for simplicity.
    # The commented-out values below are the built-in defaults. You can have the
    # server ignore these files altogether by using "/dev/null" (for Unix) or
    # "nul" (for Win32) for the arguments to the directives.
    #ResourceConfig conf/srm.conf
    #AccessConfig conf/access.conf
    # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
    Timeout 300
    # SendBufferSize: controls setsockopt() call made to set send buffer size on
    # all sockets. Default OS value on most Windows platforms is too small.
    # Larger values can help if the average page size served by OHS is
    # large (~64 k)
    SendBufferSize 16384
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On
    # MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    # KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
    # same client on the same connection.
    KeepAliveTimeout 15
    # Apache on Win32 always creates one child process to handle requests. If it
    # dies, another child process is created automatically. Within the child
    # process multiple threads handle incoming requests. The next two
    # directives control the behaviour of the threads and processes.
    # MaxRequestsPerChild: the number of requests each child process is
    # allowed to process before the child dies. The child will exit so
    # as to avoid problems after prolonged use when Apache (and maybe the
    # libraries it uses) leak memory or other resources. On most systems, this
    # isn't really needed, but a few (such as Solaris) do have notable leaks
    # in the libraries. For Win32, set this value to zero (unlimited)
    # unless advised otherwise.
    # NOTE: This value does not include keepalive requests after the initial
    # request per connection. For example, if a child process handles
    # an initial request and 10 subsequent "keptalive" requests, it
    # would only count as 1 request towards this limit.
    MaxRequestsPerChild 0
    # Number of concurrent threads (i.e., requests) the server will allow.
    # Set this value according to the responsiveness of the server (more
    # requests active at once means they're all handled more slowly) and
    # the amount of system resources you'll allow the server to consume.
    ThreadsPerChild 50
    # Server-pool size regulation. Rather than making you guess how many
    # server processes you need, Apache dynamically adapts to the load it
    # sees --- that is, it tries to maintain enough server processes to
    # handle the current load, plus a few spare servers to handle transient
    # load spikes (e.g., multiple simultaneous requests from a single
    # Netscape browser).
    # It does this by periodically checking how many servers are waiting
    # for a request. If there are fewer than MinSpareServers, it creates
    # a new spare. If there are more than MaxSpareServers, some of the
    # spares die off. The default values are probably OK for most sites.
    #MinSpareServers 5
    #MaxSpareServers 20
    # Limit on total number of servers running, i.e., limit on the number
    # of clients who can simultaneously connect --- if this limit is ever
    # reached, clients will be LOCKED OUT, so it should NOT BE SET TOO LOW.
    # It is intended mainly as a brake to keep a runaway server from taking
    # the system with it as it spirals down...
    #MaxClients 150
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, in addition to the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    #Listen 3000
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    # BindAddress: You can support virtual hosts with this option. This directive
    # is used to tell the server which IP address to listen to. It can either
    # contain "*", an IP address, or a fully qualified Internet domain name.
    # See also the <VirtualHost> and Listen directives.

    # Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
    # To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
    # have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
    # directives contained in it are actually available before they are used.
    # Please read the file README.DSO in the Apache 1.3 distribution for more
    # details about the DSO mechanism and run `apache -l' for the list of already
    # built-in (statically linked and thus always available) modules in your Apache

    ### Section 2: 'Main' server configuration
    # The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main'
    # server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a
    # <VirtualHost> definition. These values also provide defaults for
    # any <VirtualHost> containers you may define later in the file.
    # All of these directives may appear inside <VirtualHost> containers,
    # in which case these default settings will be overridden for the
    # virtual host being defined.
    # Port: The port to which the standalone server listens. Certain firewall
    # products must be configured before Apache can listen to a specific port.
    # Other running httpd servers will also interfere with this port. Disable
    # all firewall, security, and other services if you encounter problems.
    # To help diagnose problems use the Windows NT command NETSTAT -a
    Port 7777

    # your server if it's different than the one the program would get (i.e., use
    # "www" instead of the host's real name).
    # Note: You cannot just invent host names and hope they work. The name you

    # this, ask your network administrator.
    # If your host doesn't have a registered DNS name, enter its IP address here.

    # first line of the file. Of course, CGI processing must be enabled by
    # the appropriate ScriptAlias or Options ExecCGI directives for the files
    # or directory in question.
    # However, Apache on Windows allows either the Unix behavior above, or can
    # use the Registry to match files by extention. The command to execute
    # a file of this type is retrieved from the registry by the same method as
    # the Windows Explorer would use to handle double-clicking on a file.
    # These script actions can be configured from the Windows Explorer View menu,
    # 'Folder Options', and reviewing the 'File Types' tab. Clicking the Edit
    # button allows you to modify the Actions, of which Apache 1.3 attempts to
    # perform the 'Open' Action, and failing that it will try the shebang line.
    # This behavior is subject to change in Apache release 2.0.
    # Each mechanism has it's own specific security weaknesses, from the means
    # to run a program you didn't intend the website owner to invoke, and the
    # best method is a matter of great debate.

    # equivilant Unix behavior), uncomment the following directive:
    #ScriptInterpreterSource registry
    # The directive above can be placed in individual <Directory> blocks or the
    # .htaccess file, with either the 'registry' (Windows behavior) or 'script'
    # (Unix behavior) option, and will override this server default option.

Secondly, I'm confused by your comment -
I do not have Apache 9.3 or higher but I think oracle should offer this in its companion CDOracle does offer the Apache server, if you're saying you didn't get it from Oracle then where did your Apache server come from?
