Problem with valueUnbound() in 5.1 SP12

We are facing a problem with WLServer 5.1 SP12 when the session gets invalidated.
Please find the problem description below.
References:
1.) SessionListener Class : A class that implements HttpSessionBindingListener
2.) Login JSP : A JSP which adds the instance of SessionListener object to the
session once the user is authenticated succuessfully.
Problem Description:
Once the SessionListener object is added to the session valueBound() method is
always called. When the user logs out explicitly valueUnbound() is always called.
At this point we call the session.invalidate() method.
However, valueUnbound() is not called after the Inactive interval properly, for
instances like system crash or closing of browser by the user before he actually
logs out. Most of the time it works perfectly, but sometimes it happens the above
mentioned problem comes.
I am not able to justify whether it is a problem with my code or an issue with
the wlserver. Appreciate any help in this matter.
I am giving the important fragments of code below for reference:
<PRE>
/*---SessionListener.java ----*/
public class SessionListener implements HttpSessionBindingListener {
private String loginUserId; //Holds the user id in the session.
     public SessionListener(String loginUserId) {
          this.loginUserId = loginUserId;
     public void valueBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event) {
          try {
               //Initialization code.
               LogWriter.log(new Date() + "<BOUND>" + loginUserId + ":"+ event.getSession().getId());
          } catch(Exception e) {
               LogWriter.log("<ERROR OCCURRED DURING BOUND>\n" + e.getMessage());
     public void valueUnbound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event) {
     //Clean up Code.
     LogWriter.log(new Date() + "<UNBOUND>" + loginUserId + ":"+ event.getSession().getId());
Code fragment from Login.jsp
SessionListener ssnlstnr = new SessionListener(LoginBn.getLoginId());
session.setAttribute("ssnLstnrObj", ssnlstnr);
</PRE>
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your explanation. Yes, we are aware that the session will not be invalidated
immediately after the system crashes or the browser is closed. We are using weblogic
5.1 , so use weblogic.properties file instead of weblogic.xml. The property used
is, 'weblogic.httpd.session.timeoutSecs'. Currently, it is set to 600 seconds.
So, the session should be invalidated after 10 minutes if there is no activity
done, even in the cases of system crash. This is inturn fires the valueUnbound()
method. Most of the times, it is called. But, in some instances, it is
not called. Is there any way that we can ensure that it is definitely called always,
although the specs say that it will be called whenever the object is removed from
the session or the session itself is invalidated.
Thanks,

the session, if you call session.invalidate(), or if the session
timesout (expires). the session will timeout if the user is inactive
for
the time specified in the session-timeout element in web.xml.
the method will usually not be called on a system crash, and will not
be
called when the user closes the browser.
the session-param InvalidationIntervalSecs in weblogic.xml does not
specifiy the session timeout, this is an interval for weblogic to check
for timed-out or invalidated sessions and clean up the memory.
you can specify the session timeout in weblogic.xml with the
session-param TimeoutSecs, but this is overridden by the session-timeout
value in web.xml.

  • Problem with RFC for Risk Terminator - GRC 5.2 SP12

    We are having a problem with the RFC connection for Risk Terminator in one of our SAP environments.  It is working in our 'DV3' environment, but not in our 'RT3' environment.  Everything is set up just the same in both environments and all SAP Adaptors show green.
    This was working in RT3 when we first upgraded to GRC 5.2 last November, but it now gives me an error when I do an update with PFCG and it calls RT.  The error message and our Basis support group both say the RFC needs to be 'registered', but our SAP Support contact during our upgrade said it does not, and I can't find any documentation that says this is required also.  Plus it was working before even though it was unregistered.
    What is causing this problem and how do I resolve it?
    Also, if these RFCs do not have to be registered, is there some documentation that states this that I can show to our Basis group?
    Thanks.

    What about the question of the RFC needing to be registered?  This is the solution our Basis group thinks is required, so it will be hard to get them to do anything else until this issue has been addressed.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with query for Oracle

    Hello Experts,
    I'm tryng to develop my first application for EP (v7 SP12) with NWDS (without NWDI).
    This application has to read and write data in the EP DB (oracle v10).
    I'm using:
    <u>a Dictionary Project</u> (define the DB Tables)
    <u>a Java Project</u> (define class as DAO, DBManager etc)
    <u>a Library Project</u>
    <u>an EJB Project</u>
    <u>an EAR Project</u>
    With these projects I can deploy a <u>webService</u> in my EP server.
    BUT I have some problem with a query that I'm tryng to sent to my DB through a DAO Class called by my WebService.
    The query is simple and correct but it does not work...
    This is the error message returned (the query id in bold)
    (column names: GIORNO, NOMEDITTA, NOMEAREA, NOMESETTORE)

    The variable '?' is the today date, the difference <b>"(?-GIORNO)"</b> is an int..
    Moreover in my DAO class the query is <b>"SELECT NOMESETTORE, MIN(? - GIORNO) AS GIORNI FROM SRS_DATEINFORTUNI WHERE NOMEDITTA = ? AND NOMEAREA= ? GROUP BY NOMESETTORE ORDER BY NOMESETTORE</b>", instead in the error message is reported <b>MIN(? - "GIORNO")</b>...
    We have tryed also with alternative query, for example we used <b>"MIN(SYSDATA - GIORNO)"</b> but <b>SYSDATA</b> was interpreted as column name and  not found....
    Any help???
    Best Regards

    Hi, I found something about the Host Variable (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ed/dbf8b7823b084f80a6eb7ad43bdbb9/content.htm), there explain that if you want to use an host variable you have to put ':' as prefix..
    My problem is that <u>I need to extract the minimum of the subtraction between two dates:</u>
    Query <b>MIN(? - GIORNO)</b> --> <i>Error: the arithmetic expression >>? - "GIORNO"<< contains a host variable (parameter marker)</i>
    So I tried to use the ':' as indicated in the manual..
    <b>MIN:(? - GIORNO)</b> --> - <i>SQL syntax error: the token ":" was not expected here
                   - expecting LPAREN, found ':'</i>
    <b>MIN(:(? - GIORNO))</b> --> <i>- 1:25 - Open SQL syntax error: :PARAMETER not allowed
                   - 1:26 - SQL syntax error: the token "(" was not expected here
                   - 1:26 - expecting ID, found '('</i>
    Then I tried to avoid the MIN() function and I tried to do just the subtraction:
    <b>? - GIORNO</b> --><i> - 1:21 - the arithmetic expression >>? - "GIORNO"<< contains a host variable (parameter marker)</i>
    <b>:(? - GIORNO)</b> --> <i>- 1:21 - Open SQL syntax error: :PARAMETER not allowed
                - 1:22 - SQL syntax error: the token "(" was not expected here
                - 1:22 - expecting ID, found '('</i>
    <b>'2007-09-24' - GIORNO</b> --> <i>- 1:34 - SQL syntax error: first argument of operator "-" must be a number, date/time or interval
                     - 1:43 - SQL syntax error: arguments of operator "-" do not have correct types
                     - 1:43 - SQL syntax error: derived columns in SELECT list with AS must be values</i>
    <b>GIORNO - GIORNO</b> --> <i>- 1:21 - the group by list and the select list are inconsistent: the column >>"GIORNO"<< is neither grouped nor aggregated
                  - 1:30 - the group by list and the select list are inconsistent: the column >>"GIORNO"<< is neither grouped nor aggregated</i>
    Why these parts of query are not accepted???
    I don't understand why... I hope you can help me.

  • Problem with HttpSessionBindingListener

    Hi
    I have a problem with HttpSessionBindingListener.
    The sesion timeout in web.xml is 10 min.
    I open sesion 1 at 10:00 am
    I open sesion 2 at 10:05 am
    The valueUnbound method is called twice at 10:15 am
    The problem is that the valueUnbound is fired only when the last sesion on the site gets timeout. If the example worked well:
    The valueUnbound would called would be fired at 10:10 am (sesion 1)
    The valueUnbound would called would be fired at 10:15 am (sesion 2)
    The example code is very easy:
    public class ususs extends java.lang.Object implements HttpSessionBindingListener
         private String userName;
    public ususs(String userName) {
    this.userName=userName;
         public void valueBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event)
              userName="kk";
         public void valueUnbound(HttpSessionBindingEvent event)
                   userName="";
    ... And request.getSession().setAttribute("oUsuss", new ususs("myuser")); when the user logins
    Thanks

    The ConnectionCloser code:
    public void valueBound( HttpSessionBindingEvent event )
         System.out.println( "[ConnectionCloser::valueBound]" );
    public void valueUnbound( HttpSessionBindingEvent event )
         System.out.println( "[ConnectionCloser::valueUnbound]" );
    }The login method, session.setAttribute should invoke valueBound in ConnectionCloser
    private void login( HttpServletRequest, HttpServletResponse)
         throws ServletException, IOException
         HttpSession session = request.getSession( true );
         Integer oTilr = (Integer)session.getAttribute("tilr");

              catch( Exception e )
                   Integer oT2 = null;
                   if( oTilr!=null )

                   else
                        oT2 = new Integer( 1 );
                   session.setAttribute( "tilr", oT2 );
                   villubodTilNotanda( "Sennilega ...", response );
    }The logout method: session.invalidate() should invoke valueUnbound in ConnectionCloser
    private void logout( HttpServletReq. request, HttpServletResp. r )
         throws ServletException, IOException
         HttpSession session = request.getSession();
         if( session == null )
              villubodTilNotanda( "?? ert ekki innskr??(ur)...
         else
              session.invalidate();
              skilabodTilNotanda( "?tskr?ning t?kst", response );

  • Problem with currency translation and variable time ref. with 0FISCPER

    Hello,
    We have a problem with a currency conversion with a variable time reference (as iobject we use 0fiscper)
    We created a currency conversion for several key fig:
    Our settings:
    Exchange rate Type: EURX
    dynamic ex rate determination
    Source cur from datarecord
    Fixed Target Curr (EUR)
    Variable time ref.: End of Period
    Special Infoobject: 0fiscper
    When we run the DTP we get the following error:
    <i>Enter rate GBP / EUR rate type EURX for 00.00.0000 in the system settings.</i>
    ending the DTP in a message type X.
    In table TCURR and T009/T009B all necessary information is available.
    After debugging the function module, it looks like the created date (created from the FISCPER) is set to 00.00.0000. This results in the error above.
    Does anybody have experience with this error and more important know how to solve it?
    We also have a 0FISCYEAR available but in the TCURR table al rates are defined per end of the month. When trying to use 0FISCYEAR as InfoObject in the variable time reference, a diffrent error occurs:  Enter rate GBP / EUR rate type EURX for 01.01.1001 in the system settings. While  the 0FISCPER is 2001001.
    Is there a bug in the function module? (couldn't find a SAP note)
    We are working with BI 7.0 and SP12
    Best regards
    Steven

    Please can you give more detail on how you were able to resolve this issue?  How did you add 0fiscper to the transformation?  I am on BW 3.5, how do I fix this same issue on it?  Please help, this is urgent.

  • Problem with MOPZ after implementing sp15

    Hello Gurus,
    after updating SolMan from sp12 to sp15 i got the following problem with maintenance optimizer, when i want to find some update for one system in
    ta dswp->choose solution->operations->Change Management->Support Package Stacks-> Button Maintenance Optimizer
    In Step 2 - automatic evaluation of download-data - I got the error:
    Fehler  |  In Transaktion AISUSER wurden keine Kundennummern gefunden.
    Translation:
    error    |  In transaction AISUSER are none customernumbers (-id) be found
    And now i don't get the real problem.
    In AISUSER there are define the users, with theire id for oss. The column with SAP customernumbers (-id) are empty and not free to edit. When i open the datafield (maby called "choose selection") from one users sap customernumber (-id) there is the customernumber (-id) written from our company.
    So, the customernumber of our company is in the datafields, but not visible first. Only when to choose an alternative it is visible.
    I haven't the possibility to confirm this id, only to close the new opened window.
    I don't find a sap note which descripe that problem.
    Does anyone know how to go on?

  • Problems with E-Recruiting Data Overview Smartforms

    Hello,
    We recently upgraded from E-Recruiting 3.0 sp12 to sp15.  During this upgrade we have noticed that our custom Data Overview Smartforms have not being displayed.  Instead the system is calling the original SAP delivered forms.  The problem is that in table T77RCF_UI_PARAM we have the parameters set to display the correct forms.  As strange as that sounds we were able to fix most of them by changing the case, i.e. from lower to upper or upper to lower, of the BSP application name.  We are still however having problems with one particular BSP application:
    <b>Name                         Paramtyp             Parameter</b>
    HRRCF_CAND_DOVR    DISPLAY_PDF     Z_ER_CANDIDATE_PREVIEW
    HRRCF_CAND_DOVR    SF_VIEW_CAND     Z_ER_CANDIDATE_PREVIEW
    The SAP delivered smartform is HRRCF_CANDIDATE_PREVIEW.
    This one, regardless of what case the BSP application is in, continually displayes the SAP delivered smartform.
    I have verified that the custom form is indeed active.  And we also went as far as appying oss notes:
    Note 1017662 - T77RCF_UI_PARAM: Application name is case-sensitive
    Note 1037121 - T77RCF_UI_PARAM: Length of Input Field ‘Parameters” too short
    Yet another twist to this is that when I log on as an Internal Candidate and click on the Data Overview link on the external candidate personnel page the custom form is displayed.  However, when I log on as an External Candidate and click on the same link the SAP delivered form is displayed.
    Could this have something to do with the type of roles assigned?  Just incase I verified that the roles for the External Candidate were indeed SAP_RCF_EXTERNAL_CANDIDATE and the internal role was SAP_RCF_INTERNAL_CANDIDATE.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Respectfully,
    Ryan

    Well the error you are facing, that the external candidate does not see the custom smartform depends on a new BSP application that is delivered with SP14.
    You need to copy the customizing of hrrcf_cand_dovr to hrrcf_cdovr_ext.

  • A problem with threads

    I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
    Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
    My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
    Thank you in advance,
    Lefty

    This was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
    public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
         boolean active = true;
         public void run(){
              ss.setSoTimeout(90);
              while (active){
                   try{
                        serverSocket = ss.accept();
                   catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
                   // do nothing
         // interrupt thread
         public void deactivate(){
              active = false;
              // you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
              // accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
              try{
                   sleep(91);
              }catch (InterruptedException ie){
              interrupt();
    }

  • Problem with Threads and a static variable

    I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
    Code functionality:
    A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
    The problem as far I understand is:
    Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
    Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?
    Thanks,
    B.D.
    Code:
    private static volatile boolean bChanged = false;
    private static Thread objMainProcess;
       protected static void Init(){
            objMainProcess = new Thread() {
                public void run() {
                    while( objMainProcess == Thread.currentThread() ) {
                       GetState();
            objMainProcess.setDaemon( true );
            objMainProcess.start();
        public static void initStatusTimer(){
            if(objTimer == null)
                 objTimer = new javax.swing.Timer( 1000, new java.awt.event.ActionListener(){
                    public void actionPerformed( java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt){
                              SetState();
        private static void SetState(){
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                bChanged = true;
                try{
                    objMainProcess.notify();
                }catch( IllegalMonitorStateException e ) {}
        private static boolean GetState() {
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return false;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                if( bChanged) {
                    SendMessage();
                    bChanged = false;
                    return true;
                try {
                    objMainProcess.wait();
                }catch( InterruptedException e ) {}
                return false;
        }

    Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
    Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
    The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
    Thanks,
    B.D.

The program doesnt display any of my gui error messages either when the server disconnect the client. all works find in a console. any advice on this as I havent been able to understand why this is happening? any comment would be appreciated.
    troy.

    troy,
    Try and post a minimum code sample of your app which
    does not work.
    When using javaw, make sure you redirect the standard
    error and standard output streams to file.
    Graeme.Hi Graeme,
    I dont understand what you mean by redirection to file? some of my code below.
    The code works fine under a console, code is supposed to exit when the client (the other server )disconnects. the problem is that but the clientworker side of the code still works. which under console it doesnt.

  • Problem with threads and camera.

    Hi everybody!
    I've a problem with taking snapshot.
    I would like to display a loading screen after it take snapshot ( sometimes i
    have to wait few seconds after i took snapshot. Propably photo is being taken in time where i have to wait).
    I was trying to use threads but i didn't succeed.
    I made this code:
    display.setCurrent(perform);
            new Thread(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    while((!performing.isShown()) && (backgroundCamera.isShown())){
                        Thread.yield();
                    notifyAll();
            }).start();
            new Thread(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    try {
                        this.wait();
                    } catch(Exception e) {
                        exceptionHandler(e);
                    photo = camera.snapshot();
                    display.setCurrent(displayPhoto);
            }).start();This code is sometimes showing performing screen but sometimes no.
    I don't know why. In my opinion performing.isShown() method isn't working correctly.
    Does anyone have some idea how to use threads here?

    Hi,
    I've finally managed to work this fine.
    The code:
           Object o = new Object();
           display.setCurrent(perform);
            new Thread(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    while(!performing.isShown()){
                        Thread.yield();
                   synchronized(o) {
                      o.notify();
            }).start();
            new Thread(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    try {
                        synchronized(o) {
                           o.wait(1);
                    } catch(Exception e) {
                        exceptionHandler(e);
                    photo = camera.snapshot();
                    display.setCurrent(displayPhoto);
            }).start();

  • Problem with threads hanging

    We have a problem where our application stops responding after a few days of usage. Things will for fine for a day or two, and then pretty quickly threads will start getting hung up, usually in places where they are allocating memory
    We are running WebLogic 8.1 SP2 on Sun JDK 1.4.2_04 on Solaris 8 using the alternate threading model and the -server hotspot vm. We are running pretty much the same code that we had no problems with under WebLogic 6.1 SP4 and Sun JDK 1.3.1.
    A thread dump usually shows that some or all of our execute threads are in the state "waiting for monitor entry" even though they are not currently waiting on any java locks. Here is a sample thread from the thread dump (we have ~120 threads so I don't want to post the full dump).
    =============================================================================================

    String.java line 1446 for this jdk allocates a new String object, and all the other threads in this state also are creating new objects or arrays, etc.
    We've done a pstack on this process when it's in this state, and the threads that are in the "waiting for monitor entry" that look like they're allocating memory are all waiting on the same lwp_mutex_lock with some allocation method that's calling into the native TwoGenerationCollectorPolicy.mem_allocate_work (see pstack output below for the same thread as in the thread dump above)

    Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'm trying to figure out if this is caused by something we're doing, or something relating to our environment and jvm options. Any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply - I'm testing our app with the +UseConcMarkSweepGC now in our test environment to make sure it doesn't cause any problems there.  Unfortunately the only place we've had this problem is on the production server, so it's extra difficult debugging this.
    We're using the following memory options:
    -ms512m -mx512m -XX:NewSize=128m -XX:PermSize=192m -XX:MaxNewSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:SurvivorRatio=8and the following debugging options, as we've also been seeing OutOfMemoryErrors ( see http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=37&thread=522354&tstart=45&trange=15 )
    -verbosegc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGCBTW, which c++filt version and options are you using? Our Solaris boxes only seem to have the GNU version installed. I was trying to run that on some of the other stack traces and wasn't getting anywhere, and didn't know if because it was GNU version wouldn't work on something compiled with the Sun compiler.
    Thanks!

  • Problem with threads and ProgressMonitor

    Dear Friends:
    I have a little problem with a thread and a ProgressMonitor. I have a long time process that runs in a thread (the thread is in an separate class). The thread has a ProgressMonitor that works fine and shows the tasks progress.
    But I need deactivate the main class(the main class is the user interface) until the thread ends.
    I use something like this:
    LongTask myTask=new LongTask();
    myTask.start();
    myTask.join();
    Now, the main class waits for the task to end, but the progress monitor don`t works fine: it shows only the dialog but not the progress bar.
    What's wrong?

    Is the dialog a modal dialog? This can block other UI updates.
    In general, you should make sure that it isn't modal, and that your workThread has a fairly low priority so that the UI can do its updating

  • Problem with threads and/or memory

    I'm developing an application where there are 3 threads. One of them sends a request to the other, and if the 2nd can't answer it, it sends it to the 3rd (similar to CPU -> CACHE -> MEMORY). When i run the program with 1000-10.000 requests, no problem occurs. When i run it with 300.000-1.000.000 requests, it sometimes hangs. Is this a problem with the garbage collector, or should it be related to the threads mecanism.
    (note: eache thread is in execution using a finite state machine)

    i had been running the program inside Netbeans.
    Running the jar using the command line outside
    Netbeans i have no more problems... Does Netbeans use
