Problem with Variable Client Support
Hello,
I work with Labview 8.5 and Crio 9014.
I have a problem with Variable Client Support. When I try to compile my project I have the following error:
"The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target for this application to function properly..."
I have read that we have to install the Variable Client Support in Measurement and Automation by right-clicking on the software and then choosing add/remove software but I can't install the appropriate shared variable components because I can't see neither Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support. So what can I do?
Can somebody help me?
Thanks
I have exactly the same problem. I wanted go through the "Getting Started with the LabVIEW RT module" and when I use wizard for generating new project I get same notification in my VI...
The Network Variable Engine and Variable Client Support must be installed on the RT target
for this application to function properly. If the Network Variable Engine is not supported on
the target (e.g. FP-2000 with <32MB of RAM), open the project and move the variable library
to My Computer in the project. Doing this will deploy the variables to localhost but
will still require that Variable Client Support be installed on the RT target.
Could someone help please ?

Problem with variables in formulas when using CrystalReportViewer
Post Author: Aksu
CA Forum: Formula
Hi! I have a problem with variables in Crystal Reports formulas, when using CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer class from VS2005-project. ReportViewer always gives error:*************Crystal Report Windows Forms ViewerThis field name is not known.Details: errorKindError in File C:\{dir]}\{file}.rpt:Error in formula <mCustomerAttributes>.'Dim result As String'This field name is not known.Details: errorKind ************* Report without variables works fine with Viewer and in Crystal Reports Designer report with variables works also fine. I have tried with both "formula-syntaxes" - basic and crystal. But Viewer always gives error when trying to define new variable.I think the problem might be with CR -versions, because VS-project has formerly been designed to VS2003 and CR9 or 10. Now I'm using VS2005 and CR11. Though I have changed all references to new CrystalDecisions-asseblies (Ver.11.0.3300.0), when I debug the project and checkout the Viewers ReportSources FormatEngine Shows version CR9_2.... I have no idea where it gets this version...***************DEBUG-view when Viewer is created *******************CrystalReportViewer |_ ReportSourceClassFactoryName ... , Version=11.0.3300.0 , ... |_ ReportSource |_ FormatEngine {CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FormatEngine} |_ ClientVersionHeader {CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportServiceVersionHeader} |_ | version = 920 (int) |_ Static members |_ VER_CR9 = 920 (int)**************************************** Could anyone have any answers or tips for this problem? I'd really appreciate it... ---AksuHas anyone been able to answer this question?
I am having the same problem:
I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer. The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI. I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
Error in formula <Report Format>.
'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
This field name is not known.
Details: errorKind
This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula. If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?
Thanks,
Tim H.

Hi. I'm making a form for work for people to book places on
training courses. Having an annoying problem with variables that
i'm hoping has a simple solution. Any help with this will be much
appreciated.
All the info is held in an external text file which looks
like this (but much longer):
&totalcourses=2&
&course0=Please choose a course&
&course1=my course one&
&totaldates1=3&
&c1date0=Select a date...&
&c1date1=15 September 2006&
&c1time1=Time: 10:00 to 16:00&
&c1date2=23 January 2006&
&c1time2=Time: 11:00 to 16:00&
&c1date3=28 February 2007&
&c1time3=Time: 12:00 to 16:00&
&course2=my course 2&
&totaldates2=3&
&c2date0=Select a date...&
&c2date1=15 September 2006&
&c2time1=Time: 11:00 to 16:00&
&c2date2=08 January 2007&
&c2time2=Time: 9:00 to 16:00 &
&c2date3=15 February 2007
&c2time3=Time: 12:00 to 16:00&
The course titles are loaded into an array and then into a
combobox. When a course is chosen a second combobox loads the
relevant dates array for that course. When a date is chosen the
time is shown in a dynamic text box.
Problem is - if more than one course is on the same date it
will show the time for the latest course with that date. For
example - course 1 is on 15 sept at time 10:00 to 16:00, course 2
is also on 15 sept at time 11:00 to 16:00. When 15 Sept is chosen
for course one it displays the time for course 2 on this date -
presumably because it comes later in the text file.
I've attached the actionscript for this - Can anyone help me

Problem with variable in the woorkbook selection screen.
Hi All,
I have Problem with Variable in the selection screen. I have four variable in the report in this sequence
<b>Plant (optional), calendar month (mandatory), material (optional), Customer (mandatory). </b>
In Development system, I changed the query to fix the problem for a formula. saved and executed the query. In the selection screen appeared four variables and executed. after executing the query and I saved the work book also. I logged out of the Bex Analyzer. In the RSRT I generated the report by clicking the Generated Report push button. and again logged into the Bex analyzer and ran the work book, now in the selection screen, appeared three Variables only, I am missing the variable <b>Customer</b>.
The old report which is already in the Production system is working fine. What could be the mistake I did in the development system.
It is very urgent, I need to deliver this object as soon as possible.
Can I anybody help on the same.
Thanks in advance
NarendraYunus,
I did what you said. I removed the variable from characteristic restrictions, saved the query and executed the query, appeared three variables Plant, Calender month and material. executed and saved the work book. disconeted from Bex analyzer, in RSRT Generated Report and logged into Bex analyzer ran the work book for selection Plant, calender month and material and went into change query definition and added the variable for customer which was removed earlier and and ran the query for selections Plant, Calender monmth, Material and customer. saved the work book. disconnected from Bex analyzer and closed all excel sheets and work books. In RSRT Generated Report and again connected to Bex analyzer and ran the work book, now appeared only three variables again missed variable customer.

Localizing Analytics Web Catalog - problem with variables
I tried to localize strings in OBI EE Web Catalog. I exported those captions using catalog manager, translate messages in XML file and put them to \Web\Res\l_xx\Captions. It works quite good.
But there is problem with variables in Title. Replacement of variables STOP working :-( At the page is displayed for example: "@{biServer.variables['MaxDate']}". Variable replacemen works fine in narrative views.
Do you have some ideas?
Thanks. We have the same problem with presentation variables in titles using externalize strings option, they stopped working after tranlation.
We tried with Oracle BI EE 10.1.3.2.1 and 10.1.3.3.3 with same result.
Any ideas?

I encountered a problem with some client machines that use Firefox version 24ESR and IE8.
Ajax requests of aspx pages from Firefox are getting the following error from the iis server (iis version 7.5):
Bad Request - Request Too Long
HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
From analyzing the request that was sent to the server, I saw that the request consist of only the viewstate of the aspx page.
I tried to disable the viewstate for one page and the server got the request correctly.
I do not encounter any issues on these laptops with postback requests from Firefox or when running the same application with IE8.Sometimes that means that the page address sent is loo long.
Check the link address you are using.
I can't help you further and will send for more help. -
I am having problems with downloading Windows Support Software by using Boot Camp Assistant. Is there somewhere else I can download from?
No. There is no other location. Be patient. Read the posts in the Bootcamp Forum. There are hundreds of posts about your issue and what to do. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

Problem with email clients- BT support clueless
Hi. I've been having a bizarre problem since migrating to the new BT mail. About 2 weeks after the migration, all of 3 of my email clients (thunderbird on a Mac decktop, outlook on a PC laptop, iPhone) started reporting the "server does not recognsise username/password" error. I followed through the online BT mail help instructions to make sure all of the email account settings were correct, which didn't help. I can access BT webmail directly with my username/password and via that changed my password, then updated it on my email clients. Initial joy! It worked and my clients could access my email accounts again. 24 hours later- same problem with all of my clients- server does not recognise username/password. The only way I can get them to work again is to repeat the process of changing my password via webmail, then updating the password on my email clients. This allows access for about a day, after which I get the same username/password error.
Eventually after about a month of this I decided to phone BT support. What a painful process. The guy on the other end of the line did his best, but unfortunately his English wasn't great. It took about 50 minutes of circular conversations for me to explain the problem. Eventually his anwer was that because the webmail was working properly, the problem must be with the email clients, which he couldn't help with. He advised me to take my laptop/iPhone/ to a local engineer to figure out what the problem must be. By this time I was really frustrated and asked to speak with the supervisor. He agreed that a) because the problem was with all three clients, and b) because changing the password on webmail and updating them then allowed them to work, albeit temporarily, that it was highly unlikely that the problem was with the client setup. However, he said that he wasn't able to help any further as my webmail is working properly!
Can anyone help. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? How do I get BT to fix this and who do I complain to if they can't?
BT- outsourcing support abroad seems like a good idea. It isn't worth the loss of goodwill. Bring it back.EvanR wrote:
Thanks for the advice, but I'm afraid this makes no difference at all to the problem.
After posting, the problem sorted itself out for a few weeks, it's back again today. Reading all of the other posts about the disaster which is the new bt mail system, I've decided just to leave it for a few days. It's obviously something at BT's side (although the support try to deny it). By the way, the support is totally useless. Promises to call back not kept, technically clueless etc.
If this keeps up I'm just going to go to gmail or some other email provider.
To clarify the situation can you please do the following concentrating on your PC Laptop.
1. Wait until you get the failure on Outlook.
2. Switch off (ie power down) your Mac desktop and Iphone.
3. Try Outlook again.
4. If the problem still occurs then login to webmail and logout WITHOUT changing your password.
5. Try Outlook again.
6. After 5. you can power up your Mac and Iphone
Please report back confirming you have done 2. and the results of step 3 and 5 including any failure messages reported exactly with any personal information xxxx out and not deleted.

Database connectivity problem with instant client.
Guys,
I've installed the Oracle instant client basic and ODBC files in my system.
But when I create a system DSN and test the connectivity my database connectivity,it fails with
ORA-12637:Packet receive failed error
My TNSNAMES reads below:
ONDSP101.DIGITALINDIASW.NET =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = namesrv1.xy.zz.com)(PORT = 1522))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = ONDSP101)
and my SQLNET as below:
AUTOMATIC_IPC = OFF
TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = ON
SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=20
NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = na.pg.com
NAME.DEFAULT_ZONE = na.pg.com
SQLNET.CRYPTO_SEED = "kdg:9yv2$-plo*u6b2x!"
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH = (ONAMES,TNSNAMES)
NAMES.PREFERRED_SERVERS =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS =
(COMMUNITY = TCP.xy.zz.com)
(PROTOCOL = TCP)
(Host = namesrv1.xy.zz.com)
(Port = 1522)
(ADDRESS =
(COMMUNITY = TCP.xy.zz.com)
(PROTOCOL = TCP)
(Host = namesrv2.xy.zz.com)
(Port = 1522)
I've placed my TNSNAMES and SQLNET file in the same folder having the instant client files and I've set my TNSADMIN,LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PATH environmental variable to the folder location.
Note:I'm able to connect to the database using SQLplus.
Thanks,
Bhagat12637, 00000, "Packet receive failed"

// *Action: If the cause is not obvious, contact Oracle Customer Support.
These days I very seldom use ODBC for Oracle - most recently it was simply to get Enterprise Architect to "talk" to Oracle. I never used it for my client applications (unlike in the fast distant past), so what I know about ODBC is seriously outdated.
Even so, a few comments. :-)
Have you tried creating a user DSN, in case a system DSN somehow works different environment wise?
The above error description sounds like the original TCP connection was successful (i.e. it is not a host unknown or not reachable error). Subsequent packets seem to fails.
To confirm, run the listener on namesrv1.xy.zz.com with logging enabled and have a look at the listener.log - does it show a connection being accepted/handled from your PC when you use the ODBC DSN?
Have you tried the Oracle ODBC drivers? When getting EA connected I had problems (also with Instant Client) and Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle. Downloaded and installed the Oracle ODBC driver and it worked just fine first time around.
PS. You should raise this topic on the Instant Client Forum instead. -
New WSUS on Server 2012 - problem with win8 clients
Hi,
Two weeks ago we created a new Server 2012 and installed the WSUS role from scratch on it. Its version number is: 6.2.9200.16384. It replaced a Server 2008 WSUS server. After some time all the win7 clients updated and reported as
they did on the old and replaced server.
However all our win8 clients refuse to update against this server. They show correctly up in WSUS server console each with 107 needed updates day after day. We have rebooted them and done numerous wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow and wuauclt
/detectnow /reportnow, but to no avail.
I paste in some lines from a win8 client winupdate log at the end of this message if someone can figure out what I have to do to get these clients update as they did against the old wsus server. Thanks for help on this issue.
regards Tor

2014-02-03 08:43:40:513 920 178c Service *************Today I opened Control Panel / Windows Updates and first did a check for new updates (from the WSUS server). Nothing was found and it reported Windows is Updated. Then I clicked the link Check for updates from Microsoft via internet, and
it found around 24 updates.
This is confirmation of the point that I made in the previous post. The updates are *NEEDED* by this system, but the updates were not *AVAILABLE* from the assigned WSUS Server. You were able to get them from Windows Update, but that does not fix your continuing
issue with the WSUS Server.
but it still reported the original 108 Needed updates.
Exactly. As previously noted, the client is functioning perfectly. The problem is NOT with the client; the problem is with the WSUS Server. The updates that this client needed were not AVAILABLE to be downloaded from the WSUS server.
Why this is the case requires further investigation on your part, but is either because the updates are not properly approved, or the update FILES are not yet downloaded from Microsoft to the WSUS server.
It appears that the wsus server doesn't get any information back from the client despite that it displays new Last contact and Last Status report timestamps.
This conclusion is incorrect. The WSUS Server got every bit of information available from the client -- you've confirmed this by the number of updates reported as "Needed" by the Windows Update Agent to the WSUS Server.
I assumed that the log would display if the updates were downloaded or not.
It will log when the updates are actually downloaded. If there's no log entries for updates being downloaded, then they're not being downloaded. If the logfile says "Found 0 updates", then that means exactly what it says: It couldn't find any approved/available
updates to download.
In your case it "Found 11 updates", but now it will be impossible to diagnose that fault, because you went and got them from Windows Update.
All Win8 versions are checked in the WSUS server's Product list so the updates should at least have been downloaded to the server.
This is why understanding the infrastructure is so critical. Your conclusion is invalid based on the premise given, and you may be using improper terminology which only confuses the rest of us as well.
First, selecting updates for synchronization only gets the update metadata (i.e. the detection logic) downloaded to the WSUS database.
The Second Step in this process is to Approve those updates for one or more WSUS Target Groups that contain the appropriate client systems. Following the approval of an update, the WSUS Server downloads the INSTALLATION FILE for that update.
Once the WUAgent sees an approved update and the installation file is available, then the WUAgent will download the file and schedule the update for installation.
Most of the post I read about my problem is about upgrading a 2008 WSUS server to support Win8 / Server 12 clients. When I try to run this update on my Server 12 WSUS it refuses to run (probably because it is for Server 2008).
Yeah.. totally different issue in those posts than what you're describing here.
What should I do to try to track down the problem?
Well.... now that it's 11 days since the logfile was posted, and you've already updated that system, we'll first need to find another system exhibiting the same issue.
Then I'll need to ask a number of questions to properly understand the environment, as well as what you have or have not done.
Then, from there, we can attempt to figure out why your Windows 8 client apparently sees some updates as approved/available but is still not downloading them. We do not yet have sufficient information to even speculate on a possible cause -- there are several.

Problem with Instant Client 10.2 with ODBC and Studio 6.0
Has anyone else had the issue of not being able to make a second connection after the first connection has been closed and the free HENV is called via the object distructor? What actually fails is the second time thru the SQLDriverConnect call returns -1. If the connection object is a global but close is still called it will work. So this leads me to believe the problem might be from the SQLFreeEnv call in the distructor.
If I run test using the 10.1 Instant cleint it works fine. I have included some code that I use to test with below.
I am using:
XP Pro sp2
Visual Studio 6.0 sp6
Instant Client 10.2
MDAC 3.51
Oracle Server 10g

}For what it is worth, I am having a similar problem with an application I support. When I upgraded from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 to fix a performance problem, we now have this connection problem. If I can not get a good solution for the InstantClient I will have to start using the Full 10.2.0.3 Client and I am not looking forward to deploying that.

Problem with Outlook (client) 2010/2013 profiles on Exchange 2013
We have recently started migrating to Exchange 2013 and have come across a problem with some of our accounts. This problem exists in both migrated mailboxes and natively created 2013 mailboxes.
basically we have a lot of "shared" accounts. We create a user object in AD, give it a mailbox, then give a security group "Full Access" (and often "send-as") permissions on the account. We then Disable the
account in AD (to prevent directly using the password) and then add/remove group members to manage access. everyone uses their own credentials to get to the account.
For the most part this works fine. Users can access OWA and get to these shared mailboxes, they can also 'add' the mailbox to their Outlook client by going into Account Settings->Properties of the Exchange user->More Settings... ->Advanced Tab->"Open
these additional mailboxes:" and adding the mailbox.
However what has happened is that some users were setting up a separate profile instead of adding a mailbox. (Pretty much these
instructions: )
When this is done an error occurs. :
Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost).
Connecting with a profile set up as yourself first does not clear the error, whenever the shared mailbox folder is selected you get this. The exception is if you go into the account properties and turn off Cached mode. the error then becomes:
Cannot open your default e-mail folders. the file c:\users\[user]\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook\[datafile].ost is not an Outlook datafile (.ost).
Which is weird since migrated accounts had working OST files which were functional prior to migration and outlook creates the new OST for new accounts. This message appears to be a red herring and the problem is still sync access but it throws this
error instead.
In the end is creating a new profile for a mailbox you have Full Access to no longer supported in 2013 or is there something we can do to fix this problem?Hi AD-Tester,
According to your description and I do an test, however I cannot reproduce the problem.
I want to confirm some points, please help to collect answers for following questions:
1. Check all account or some special user face this problem.
2. Try this command to check Atodiscover, Exchange Web services, Availability service, Offline Address Book services works well:
Get-ClientAccessServer | Test-OutlookWebServices -Identity 'e-mail address'
If it works on OWA, problem may point to outlook client. Please try to re-create a outlook profile for testing.
Note: please make sure set properly setting for Outlook anywhere.
Additional, we can recreate an account and enable-mailbox, then disable in AD and try to login outlook account again.
