Problem with Versions/Auto Save

Something is awfully wrong with Versions on my system. To note, this happened AFTER the 10.7.1 update, but I can't say whether it happened DIRECTLY after the update.
I've already repaired disk permissions using the Recovery Disk.
Here's the problem: on some files (locked or unlocked, by the way) when viewing older versions it doesn't show any preview of the file on the right side -- it's just empty space! When attempting to restore the file it gives the error:
"Unable to revert because an error occurred while trying to open this file's backup version."
Other files would take an eternity to restore -- or even to simply VIEW back versions. It'll give me the spinning beachball of death and after a force quit, the file would be hopelessly corrupted, giving me the error:
"The document xxxxx could not be read. The document does not have a valid format."
Christ.
Even newly-created files sare displaying this problem. I created one just now and it gets stuck on "Retrieving Backup versions from TIME MACHINE"
TIME MACHINE???? I don't USE it! WHERE and WHO gave TM authority to run 'in the background'? That said -- why is it acting funny just NOW? I've turned it off from the beginning and never touched it since. NOW it decides the wreak havoc on my system?
Anyone else having these problems??

I assume you have either an iTunes or iCloud backup.
Connect to iTunes on your computer and restore iOS.
This will download (if necessary) and reinstall iOS. After it finishes, go through the setup process and restore from your backup.

Problems with version sets

I have PSE 6. When I open a JPG from the Organizer using Full Edit and then try to save, I do not get the option to save the image in a version set (even though I do have the Organizer option checked). However, I noticed that invoking Full Edit also prompts the Organizer to say there is a new file in the watched folders. This "new" file is the very same file in the very same location. If I accept to add the file to the Organizer I get two thumbnails in the Organizer, both pointing to the same file on disk. If I do this then the "Edit In Progress" banner appears on the "new" thumbnail and the editor does allow me to add the image to the version set. I am sure that I did not have to do this before, I would expect Full Edit to just open the image, mark it in the Organizer as being edited, not try to add it back to the catalog and allow me to save the edit in a version set. What might be causing this behaviour?
I also have similar and I think related problems with RAW images too, but I am hoping that resolving the above will resolve the RAW issue too.

I should have said that I did try that but it still prevented me from creating a new version in a version set when saving. It is as if the editor needs to start on a copy of the Organizer's entry to allow version sets, as if the original is somehow "locked". Could that be possible?

Problem with version sets in Elements 12

I have just started using elelments 12. I have been having problems with inconsistency in forming version sets. Some sets forms as expected. However, quite often after editing, when returning to Organizer the edited picture is not in a version set with the original and in fact is not even visible. I can get to the edited version only through the "Open" tab in the Editor. I have check the appropriate "Save in version set" in the save menu. Suggestions?

The source of the problem is not clearly found today. It seems that happens on previously converted catalogs.
A workaround seems to have been found : killing the autoanalyzer.exe process in the task manager.

OS X Lion-specific features (Versions, Auto-Save, Fullscreen)

Why have these not been implemented? Okay, there is Adobe's own version of Auto-Save, and fullscreen is there too (but not in Apple's way where you can use the app as a space).
Versions is the most wanted feature. Is it possible for Adobe to integrate these OS X specific features in the new Photoshop?

I thought I'd take a moment to outline OS X's fullscreen mode in relation to Photoshop's Full Screen Modes and explain why we stuck with our Full Screen Mode in the near term:
Here's the short story:
If we replace Photoshop's Full Screen mode with the native 10.7 full screen mode, then our users will loose the following functionality:
The ability to use multiple displays while in fullscreen mode
The ability to switch between different document windows while in fullscreen mode
This in not something our long time users have said they want to give up.
That said, we're pretty excited about full screen mode in Lion like you guys are, and it's possible that Apple may change the full screen mode in OS X in the future to include this functionality in the future – and we'll continue to evaluate if it meets all our users needs.
Here's the longer story with more details:
Photoshop's full screen model is a per display mode. This means that in multi-displays configurations, some displays may be in Full Screen Mode while others are not. Photoshop's full screen display can can also contain one or more document windows. When a display is in Full Screen Mode, then all document-windows on that display will be full screen when they are brought forward. Photoshop's model has two full screen modes: Full Screen with UI (including the OSX menu bar) and Full Screen without UI (in this mode the OSX menu bar is hidden).
The native full screen implementation in OS X 10.7 is a single display mode. When you enter fullscreen mode on a given display, then all other displays become dark (and windows are hidden on dark displays). Dark displays can contain UI for the active application (but not documents).
When you enter the OSX fullscreen mode, then a new (temporary) Space is created for the fullscreen window. Only a single document window lives in this new Space. This means that you cannot switch between different document windows while in fullscreen mode (command-tilde does nothing).

Problem with version enabling tables with ric.

i have the a problem when i want to version enable tables having ref. int. constraits having delete rule cascade or set null.
Is it possible that i can't version enable the tables because of these constraints? How i could solve this problem if i want to keep the delete rule?

Hi,
We are internally creating a <table_name>_g procedure that transfers privileges to the necessary users. If you have a table with that name, it would explain the error.
When using ignore_last_error, it will skip the statement that is selected from the all_wm_vt_errors view. Sometimes, the statement can be safely skipped, while in other cases it cannot be. This procedure will always eventually complete when it is repeatedly called with ignore_last_error set to true. However in doing so, some required objects or privileges may not exist or be in an invalid state.
In your case, you most likely had to skip the 3 or so statements that dealt with the <table_name>_g procedure. Typically, these statements should not be skipped, but you may or may not see a problem with it due to a number of factors.
The best course of action may be to drop the trigger in a beginDDL/commitDDL session, and then recreate it in a separate session. Of course, only do this after renaming the <table_name>_g table that you have. Unfortunately, there is currently no way of getting around this naming convention.

Problems with ADF auto submit.

Hi,
I am new to ADF application development and I face an issue while working with the auto submit attribute.Please help me if I am doing anything wrong. The scenario is as follows....
I have a adf table where columns values needs to be entered by the user thorough LOV, inputtext box and checkboxes. For the sake off validation to occur while typing manually in the lov fields we have included auto submit in LOV field. We have set auto submit to true to other fields also to set the values as in while we change it since it was refreshing the values to it previous state/empty when the LOV field get loaded.
Now the problem is that when I change value in a text field and without shifting the focus (the auto submit is not triggered yet), I click the check box (now auto submit is triggered for the input text box) to deselect/select. What happens is that the checkbox gets refreshed back to it previous state (since the change event for the input box is in progress when I clicked the checkbox).
What I do have in my code when I debug is the getter setter methods in the viewRowImpl class for that table view object is called 5-6 times before it renders the page. I tried to figure it out by understanding the phases in the life cycle but I couldnt get it right......
I like to add that i didnt implement any value change listener thinking it will increase complexity. Correct me if I am wrong.....
So pls help me with these .
1. how to make the checkbox persist even if I change it before the change event autoSubmit process is in progress for other fields.
2. Why is the getter methods called 5-6 time before it get the page rendered ?.
3. Is it a mistake I did implement the valueChangeListener to set the values.
4. Finally is there any alternate way to implement the above scenario more efficiently.

Now the when I change value in 'bankTypeId' (LOV) the other pre-entered values gets refreshed even though they have no partial trigger. So I have included the autosubmit to the checkbox and text field too.....
Now the value stays when I change the LOV field value. But When I enter a new value in the text field (it23) and without shifting the focus I change the selectBooleanCheckbox value. It load for a second and the value gets changed to previous value.
I think now I made myself little bit more clearer.... Pls do tell if there needs any more clarity.

IPhone sync to iTunes problem with version 10.3.1

I've just upgraded to iTunes 10.3.1.55 and my iPhone will no longer sync to iTunes. I've tried downloading and reinstalling but this made no difference.
I get the following message:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the Iphone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings"!
I picked up elsewhere that there was a problem with 10.3 which was supposed to be corrected with 10.3.1 but it seems that this update had not cured the problem.

I've gone thru that Interoperating guide but I'll go thru it again. I don't see any error messages in my server logs. This is a single instance although the database does have multiple server instances connected to it. The data source name would be the same for all the server instances. Mine is the only one using the MDBs & WLS 10.3.1, others are using the stateless session beans. I'm using XA drivers & connection factories but I don't have any specific transactions defined in the Java code. Initially I didn't have the auto-acknowledge specified initially but thought maybe that is the problem. I have not knowingly specified any non-transactional config - if I did it would be via an omission.
So, if there is no problem in the WLS 10.3.1 supporting this acknowledgment then I'll keep reviewing my configuration.

hi Thank you so much for your reply. I swear with every Apple product every time there is a problem with a product it acts up at home but at soon as I get to the store everything is resolved. There is no longer a problem. I end up looking like someone who is trying to hassle the employees. I will test it out for a little longer to see if it might improve.

Are you coming out with a fix to the constant hang problem with version 6? I get a 20 second hang every 15 minutes.

Ever since version 6 was released I have been getting a very bad hang every 15 minutes or so regardless of what I am doing, so I cannot pinpoint the issue. I hope that your new update strategy doesn't create more issues like this that werent an issue with previous versions. I am a web designer and love how I have everything organized in Firefox, which I have favored for years but am getting frustrated and am starting to look at alternative browsers.

Problem with versioning on iPod, backwards compatibility issue with iTunes

i apologize in advance because i'm sure this has been asked time and time again, but i did attempt several searches.
the search function is very muddled and does not narrow down the results very well at all
here's the situation.
from all accounts i've heard lots of people having issues with version 7 of iTunes.
i'm a simple kinda guy who definitely believes in the age old phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
so i've stuck with v6.
i recently got a new laptop along with my PC. so i downloaded and installed the latest iTunes without thinking twice.
i had completely forgotten about my concerns from hear say about v7 issues.
i plugged in my iPod and it proceeded to completely erase all of the media on it and then load all media that was on my laptop in place of it.
"well that's a cool new feature", i thought.
after my initial frustration wore off, i immediately uninstalled v7, deleted the .itl file and installed v6.
everything was all fine and dandy. v6 works perfectly on the laptop with no hangups.
here comes the issue...
i plug in my iPod to begin rebuilding my media onto it after the completely unauthorized deletion, creditted to iTunes v7.
as it autoplays and iTunes v6 opens i'm prompted with this error:
"The iPod [my ipod] cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later.
Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
i've attempted everything i can think of to completely erase my iPod of any "versioning".
- i reset it using the "select/menu" button method
- i reformatted it through XP disk manager
- i reformatted it through context menu in my computer explorer window
- i completely just deleted the "iPod control" directory in the iPod explorer window when clicking through the my computer directory
i'm at a loss.
i cannot figure out a way to get my iPod to function with iTunes v6.
and again, i'm really hoping to avoid going to v7.

I am guessing that you used your iPod enough with iTunes v. 7.x to update the firmware to the latest version. That being the case, reformatting your iPod won't "undo" the firmware update, so your only choice now is to update your iTunes software to v. 7.x.
FWIW, iTunes 7 is a vast improvement over previous versions of iTunes. I use it on both Windows and OS X, and without bugs in both environments.

Problem with versions of JARs

I'm trying to get Webstart working with versioning of my JARs. According to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/downloadservletguide.html#examples it is possible to either put versions in an xml file for versions on a per- dir basis or put the version in the filenames for versions on per-file basis.
I'd like to use the version in the filenames.

Problem with version 8.1.1 deleting photos?

Hello, I just upgraded to iPhoto 8.1.1 and am having the first problems with iPhoto I have ever experienced. When I attempt to delete certain photos, the thumbnail remains. If I highlight the thumbnail, the information box in lower left corner references information on the event the photo is in, such as total size of the event and date range. If I try to quit iPhoto after doing this, it hangs and must be force quit. When I re-open iPhoto, the photo remains as if it was never deleted.
After reading many posts, I could not locate this issue, perhaps since the update is so new? Last night I rebuilt my library, as that sounds like the answer to most problems. After the complete library re-build, I am having the exact same problem.
I have about 19,000 photos that total 60 GB and have been using iPhoto for two years on the same iMac.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
