Problem with wedge in Pie chart

Hi all,
i'm having a Pie chart which has some four or five sections. By using wedge option i'm able to cut out a single piece from the whole chart. But my requirement is i need to show all pieces individually. Is it possible? Please help me in this.
Kind regards,
karthick

Hi Karthick,
it is not impossible, but it is not very easy to accomplish this. First of all, the chart engine (Corda PopChart) is bounded by OBIEE. What I mean is that OBIEE doesn't use the full functionality of the chart engine, so when you want to customize the chart, beyond the functionality OBIEE uses, then there is no other option then to edit the PopChart XML files (.pcxml). In ..\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin\ and ..\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin you can find pie.pcxml which defines the pie chart.
About your problem: you want to explode all wedges in your pie chart. According to the Corda documentation you can only explode one wedge, but it is possible to create a pie chart with gaps between all wedges and you can also set the size of the gap. So by setting these parameters I guess you can get what you want.
Example: You need to add ShowPieGap='True' to this line in the .pcxml.
<Properties Effect='2D' EffectPercentX='10' EffectPercentY='60' OutlineType='Darker' ShowPieGap='True'/>I also recommend you to read John's experiences with editing PCXML of Corda:

  • How did Steve group exploded wedges in pie chart

In his MacWorld keynote today, Steve showed a pie chart with 3 wedges exploded together (9:36 in, the US SmartPhone Marketshare slide). The Apple wedge is exploded, but so are the Palm, Motorola and Nokia wedges, yet they are exploded together, with no space between them. Is this possible in Keynote '08 or is Steve using unreleased features? I've tried selected all three and changing the explode value, but they separate.

I'll post the .key file used to create that image.
    http://idisk.mac.com/makentosh-Public/multixplode.zip
The main things to consider is:
    a) Don't move the wedges you want "connected"
    b) You'll need one "Preview Passthru" for each separately exploded bit
So, you begin by setting up your chart with all the appropriate elements. Then, pull away the ones you DON'T want stuck together. Preview Passthru them (Copy, Open Preview, Command-N, Copy, Paste back into Keynote OR Preview Passthru for short), then use the "Draw a Shape" to click out a shape that surrounds the ones that are stuck together. Select the shape and the image and "Mask with Selected Shape". If you've only got two separated groups, move all the others back to the center, move the "attached" ones away and Preview Passthru that group, then mask it.
You'll see how I masked all three parts in the linked Keynote file.

  • Need help with SQL for Pie Chart

I am trying to create a pie charge which would have 3 slices.
Following sql gives me the expected values when I run the sql command:
    select
    round(avg(CATEGORY_1 + CATEGORY_2 + CATEGORY_3 + CATEGORY_4 + CATEGORY_5),0) "OD Engagements",
    round(avg(CATEGORY_6 + CATEGORY_7 + CATEGORY_13),0) "Talent Engagements",
    round(avg(CATEGORY_8 + CATEGORY_9 + CATEGORY_10 + CATEGORY_11 + CATEGORY_12),0) "Other Engagements"
    from OTD_PROJECT
    where STATUS in ('Open','Hold')
I get 3 columns labeled: OD Engagements, Talent Engagements and Other Engagements with the correct averages based on the the data.
I have tried several ways to try to get this to work in the SQL for a pie chart, but keep getting the invalid sql message and it won't save. I also tried saving without validation, but no data is shown on the chart at all.
I want to have a pie, with 3 slices, one labeled OD Engagements with a value of 27, one labeled Talent Engagements with a value of 43 and one labeled Other Engagements with a value of 30. Then I want to be able to click on each pie slice to drill down to a secondary pie chart that shows the breakdown based on the categories included in that type.
Since I am not grouping based on an existing field I an unsure what the link and label values should be in the chart sql.

You'll need something like the below. I have no idea what the URL for the drilldown needs to be. It should create an appropriate link in your app for the particular slice. Mainly the code below breaks the SQL results into three rows rather than three columns. It may well have a syntax error since I can't test.
    select linkval  AS LINK,
           title    AS LABEL,
           calc_val AS VALUE
FROM   (SELECT 'OD Engagements' AS title,
                   round(avg(CATEGORY_1 + CATEGORY_2 + CATEGORY_3 + CATEGORY_4 + CATEGORY_5),0) AS calc_val,
                   'f?p=???:???:' || v('APP_SESSION') || '::NO:?' AS LINKVAL
            from   OTD_PROJECT
            where  STATUS in ('Open','Hold')
            UNION ALL
            SELECT 'Talent Engagements' AS title,
                   round(avg(CATEGORY_6 + CATEGORY_7 + CATEGORY_13),0) AS calc_val,
                   'f?p=???:???:' || v('APP_SESSION') || '::NO:?' AS LINKVAL
            from   OTD_PROJECT
            where  STATUS in ('Open','Hold')
            UNION ALL
            SELECT 'Other Engagements' AS title,
                   round(avg(CATEGORY_8 + CATEGORY_9 + CATEGORY_10 + CATEGORY_11 + CATEGORY_12),0) AS calc_val,
                   'f?p=???:???:' || v('APP_SESSION') || '::NO:?' AS LINKVAL
            from   OTD_PROJECT
            where  STATUS in ('Open','Hold')
           );

  • Problems with displaying data in Chart

    Hi, everyone
I am stuck with displaying data in Chart. I set the minimum
and maximum for LinearAxis of a LineChart, so the chart only
display the data within this range. But sometimes I still need to
keep the trend of all data even the data is out of range.
eg, the range of verticalAxis is 0 -100 and I got data 70,
120, 90. Neither I want to set the data 120 to 100 in order to keep
the data point nor make the data 70 connected directly to data 90.
All I want is to keep the shape, from 70 to 120, from 120 to 90,
but 120 doesn't display in the chart.
My another question is when I try to select an area of a
chart to zoom in, how can I the get the exact area that I select to
    zoom,
for example: I want to use exactly the result of the
    following line:
    ((firstMouseX - this.mouseX)/ this.dataRegion.width) *
    chart.dataProvider.length
that is I don't want to use methods ceil or floor to get the
    approximate area.
Excuse me, I got one question more. The weird things is my
chart won't resize itself when I resize the VDividedBox or other
containers. I set the width equals 100% wherever it needs to be.
Just like the Flex sample - dashboard. If I open a small window at
the very begining and then maximize the window, the chart still
keep the small part of its container. I don't understand why.
    Sorry for too many questions.
    Hope someone can help me.
    Thanks in advance.

Can I use the Interpolate to solve the first problem?
But I have no idea about interpolate at all.
    Please help!

  • Problems with auto-scale vertical charts when change time zones

I have built an application that utalizes Vertical Strip Charts.  Basiclly, XY Charts that are filled with 100 points of data each loop cycle.  To get the Time portion of it I use the Get Dat/Time in Seconds Function and then typecast it to a double.  I have built the application and installed in on several PC in my same time zone no problem, but when I send it to someone in the UK on GMT time the strip chart does not update correctly.  The scaling is off.  The interesting thing is the most recent time on the chart is correct and is updating correctly, but the time at the top of the graph is not correct.  Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreaciated.

Can you post a copy of this application, or an example that would demonstrate this? If you change your timezone on your computer to UK's timezone and restart LabVIEW (which is necessary for the change to take affect in LV), do you see this behavior?

    HI
before creating GL accounts first u have to define accounts Groups then u have assign accout group to company code then you can create the GL accounts
for Ex: chart of accounts : ABC
               Account group    : SHCP
               Desciption           : share capital
From no to No range : 100000 to 100999
we can creat the GL accounts between these nos only

  • Problem with Project 2007 gantt chart in Acrobat X

    Good morning,
We are experiencing an issue with certain, rather large gantt charts in Project 2007 when converting them to PDF using Acrobat X. The issue is that the last portion of the chart is broken when converted to PDF. The chart will print properly when sent to a real printer, and it also renders correctly in the print preview. Here is an example of the issue:
As you can see, it has broken the last section of the chart and "stretched" the bars across the page. I couldn't find anything in the knowledge base that related to this issue, so any assistance would be apreciated.

Unfortunately it seems that this is still occuring, I guess nobody has ever come across this issue?

  • Vertical axis scaling problem with XYZ bar/line chart

    Post Author: satwar
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Is there a trick to making the scaling on the
Z-axis equal to the Y-axis. I don't want to specify the scaling on
either axis because I am generating report with filtered "dimensons" in
order to generate all measure charts for a given set of filters. The
measures have various value ranges so by not specifying chart scales,
the Y-axis is auto ranged, which is good, but so is the Z-axis, which
is bad. I want both Y & Z axis to range together so I get a good
visual comparison of the two measures being plotted.

    Post Author: jsanzone
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    satwar,
There is no "trick", we're just victims of the limitation that WebI has in portraying XYZ type charts to our better liking.  I submitted a request to Business Objects Tech Support in Oct 2006 and became the proud holder of two ADAPTs:
ADAPT00676587 u2013 for the scaling issueADAPT00676609 u2013 for the stacked bar chart, line graph issue
When fully implemented, the scaling for Y and Z should be able to correspond to each other.  For instance, max value of Y and max value of Z will set on both scales the same max value.  I don't discourage you from submitting a trouble-ticket, perhaps if they get more noise on this situation they'll resolve my (our) ADPAT sooner, but just hoping....

I'm trying to compile a simple AIR Mobile app for iOS, incorporating an ANE to support Localytics

Surely 7.0 is later than 4.2! (I'm using Flex 4.6 - AIR 3.9 SDKS). Tried building with FDT and with Flash CC, and against earlier versions of the iOS SDK (6.0, 5.0).
    Any suggestions?

  • ActiveX pie chart range limit

I have a problem with creating a pie chart using ActiveX that seems to be related to the range. When I give it a source of 8 cells (source 1) the pie chart works fine (Right Pie). If I give it 9 cells (source 2) the pie chart data has 9 series instead of the 1 it should have (Wrong Pie). If I go into Excel I can correct it manually. I have been using this sub VI for a while with no problems but always with fewer than 8 cells.
    I am using Excel 2007 version 12.

Attached is part of the sub-vi where I am having the problem. I tell Excel which cells to use for the pie chart. If I use "Source 1" (8 cells) the pie chart is created successfully. If I use "Source 2" (14 cells) the pie chart only uses the first cell. I can go to the Excel file and select all 14 cells manually and the pie chart displays correctly. I also tried 9 cells with no luck, it seems that 8 cells are the limit. I am trying to find what is causing the limitation. I have also attached the sub-vi.

  • Why does a excel pie chart fail to import as vector elements?

Hello. I' m importing Excel 2008 excel pie charts to illustrator CS5. I am cutting and pasting content between the applications to import. When importing a pie chart - the chart imports OK, but the pie elements import as low resiolution non-vector elements. Is there a way to import as 100% vector elements? Note - all other chart types - bar graphs etc import fine!. thanks AH

Hi Mylenium - thanks for your reply. I found this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/732518. Looks like 'low budget dave' identited an 'excel' problem with conversion of pie charts to bitmap - thread was in 2010 - am hoping for more recent info or a solution. thanks.

  • Problems with pie chart formatting - APEX v2

Hi - I have created a region with an SVG Pie Chart and set the CSS to display the three segments as red, yellow and green using one of the examples from a previous forum posting. That all works fine, but I still have two issues with the chart:-
    - the legend is displaying too big and is overlapping the right hand region border which looks messy. Is there anyway to force the size of the legend as there is lots of blank space to the right of the labels/values?. If not, is there any way to get the legend to display at the bottom of the area rather than to the side of the chart?
    - the pie chart is 3D but the colours are only displaying on the side, not the top. Is there something I need to set to get this to work OK? Current CSS included below.

  • Problem with Stacked Bar Chart

I have a problem with a stacked bar chart in Numbers 09. My chart is a single series with 6 categories. All of the categories have different values. The first 5 categories display correctly. However, the last category does not display in the color its supposed to, but rather shows up as white/background instead of the grey color shown on the legend. However, the value label is displayed in the proper place.
When I select other chart types (pie, regular bar, or regular column) the category shows up like it's supposed to.
This is kind of annoying since I would rather use stacked bar instead of a pie chart. Is there an upper limit on the number of values it can display as a stacked bar chart? Is this just a bug? Thanks!

Here's my result with six values in a single series. I double clicked the last bar to change its colour from the default grey (which was visible) to magenta.
    Numbers 2.0.3, iBook G4, OS X v10.4.11
(Shot in the dark:) Try double clicking the value label, then changing the order position of this item.

    Hi,
You're setting XML data in a JSON model, that's why the binding is incorrect.
Depending on what your MII transaction is returning, you need to either retrieve the JSON part in the XML, or use a XML Model.

  • Animate Pie Chart Wedge SEPARATION

Is it possible to start with the entire pie chart, and then animate a wedge separating from the chart?
PS - I know how to animate each individual pie chart wedges from appearing on a slide, that is not what I am trying to do.

OK, now I get it. So you would need to place your two PieCharts in a s:Group or mx:Canvas. On top of the pie charts, lay another s:Group on which you will do some drawing on its graphics:Graphics object.
In your case, you need to use dataToLocal() (will give you pixel coordinates in your chart) then localToGlobal()  (convert to Application coordinates) then globalToLocal() (convert to the Top Group or Canvas coordinates you want to draw in) :
    Using the dataToLocal() method
The dataToLocal() method converts a set of values to x  and y coordinates on the screen. The values you give the method are in  the "data space" of the chart; this method converts these values to  coordinates. The data space is the collection of all possible combinations of data values that a chart can represent.
The number and meaning of arguments passed to the dataToLocal() method depend on the chart type. For CartesianChart controls, such as the BarChart and ColumnChart controls, the first value is used to map along the x axis, and the second value is used to map along the y axis.
For PolarChart controls, such as the PieChart control, the first value maps to the angle around the center of the  chart, and the second value maps to the distance from the center of the  chart along the radius.
The coordinates returned are based on 0,0  being the upper-left corner of the chart. For a ColumnChart control, for  example, the height of the column is inversely related to the x  coordinate that is returned.
