Problems downloading iTunes after upgrading to Windows 8.1

I just upgraded to WIndows 8.1. When I opened my iTunes it said there was an update was available. I tried to update my iTunes but kept getting errors. SO i decided to try and download the update later but when I tried to go to the iTunes store I got an error saying there was a problem accessing the iTunes store and then my iTunes closed. I looked at some of the comments in the community and tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Now when I try to download itunes I keep getting the following error:
I am the only user of the computer and the only administrator. I tried downloading the installer and then right clicking on it and selecting 'run as administrator' and this also doesn't work.
Please help
Thanks

"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\sk.lproj\Printing Templates. The instillation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Windows 8 instructions in the following document: Disk Error Checking in Windows 8
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    hi amardoukhi,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Your issue might be similar to this thread. Try the solution that was posted to rollback to an older driver version.
    The solution was to:
    1. Open Device Manager (press WInkey+R > type devmgmt.msc)
    2. On the Device Manager, navigate to Network Adapters > right click on the wireless adapter and choose Update Driver Software
       - Link to picture
    3. On the Driver Update Window, choose Browse my computer for driver software >  Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer and choose the wireless card on the list.

  • Problem with iTunes after upgrading

Hey guys my name is jake and my issue is so:
i've upgraded my iTunes to the latest version 7.4.3 yesterday and on the same day i've installed quick time 6.5 codec for some work i needed.
now i dont know if the quick time install is relate to it but since then my itunes wont open. it just errors me and ask me if i want to send or not to send eroor report
when running quicktime( the one came with itunes) it says buffer overrun detected
i tried reinstalling itunes few times and tried to install it on older version
nothing has worked. also removed the ipod driver and reinstalled it
    havent worked either.
    any advices?
    thanks ahead
    Jake

I recently upgraded to the latest that was offered and I think it was 7.4.1. Have they made a newer one since then??
Anyways, I had a problem immediately. I have a large majority of my music on an external hard drive, and some downloaded music on my computer. After upgrading, itunes would not work, and I discovered that when I unplugged the external hard drive (which contains most of my music) itunes did work and played what was already on my laptop. Everytime I try to plug my external hard drive back in, the same problem occurs: itunes freezes and I have to shut my computer down. I also noticed that it says I have something like 6000 songs and 347 GB! I don't know how many gigs 6000 songs might be depending on length, but there is no way I have 347 gigs of music since I have nowhere near that amount of space on my hard drive and external hard drive nor do I have that much music anyways...no CLUE what is going on here.
I'm afraid to delete itunes and reinstall it because I don't want the downloaded music on my computer to be deleted and I don't currently hve a place to back it up. Have you found any solutions/know what's going on with me??

  • Problems with ITUNES after upgrade

I Have a G3ibook 60 gig hard drive. Finally upgraded from OS9 to OSX Tiger. Unfortunately, my ITUNES library and playlists did not come across. Tried moving library and 1300 of 1800 songs did come across. NO playlists though. Have tried trashing preferences etc. but nothing seems to work . Tired of shooting at fish in a barrel. Can anybody help?

I can only take a guess, as Colin said, but my guess is as follows:
    Take a look at this:
What are the iTunes library files?
When you moved your songs did you leave those 2 files in the original ~/Music?iTunes folder? If you didn't, that will make iTunes lose your playlists, etc.
    Tunes Library(iTunes Library.itl in Windows)
This file is a database of the songs in your library and the playlists you've created. Some song-specific data is saved in this file. If you delete the file, iTunes creates a new, empty copy when you open the application, but any playlists, song ratings, comments, or other information you created is lost. The iTunes Library file is only used by iTunes.
This file must be in the correct folder. iTunes creates an iTunes Library file even if it is not deleted, only misplaced.

  • Problems syncing contacts after upgrading to Windows 7

I used to be able to sync my Iphone4 with Windows Mail contacts without a problem. Stupidly upgraded to Windows 7 which pretty much forced me to go to Window Live Mail. Now my contacts on my iphone don't sync with the contacts on Windows live mail (contacts). Any suggestions? I'm fully prepared to accept user error!

I actually managed to find a way around my original problem:
    When following operation fails:
Menu=>File=>Get Photos and Videos=>From Files and Folders
=>(open a network drive folder, in this case it was mapped to drive letter M:)
=>Try to select folder icon from Drive M with folder name "Photos" by clicking it with mouse
    Result:
    Selected folder disappears from list.
    How to go around this:
Menu=>File=>Get Photos and Videos=>From Files and Folders
=>(open a network drive folder, in this case it was mapped to drive letter M:)
=> Write a folder name "Photos" manually to Filename: field => Press Open
    Result:
    Now folder was opened correctly.
So there just seems to be a bug in this PSE8 file selector dialog.

  • Problems with PSE8 after upgrading to Windows 7

    Hi,
I was previously using PSE8 with Windows XP. Now I updated to Windows 7 (32-bit Home Premium).
My catalog folder and photos are located in file server folder which is mapped to local drive M:. This drive works normally for all other Windows apps.
Now when I tried to open catalog folder again, PSE8 says: "Failed to Open Catalog. The catalog could not be opened. It is either corrupt, or the version is out of date and cannot be updated". This catalog file was created with same PSE8 in Windows XP.
I tried to go around this first error by creating new empty catalog. Then when I try to import photos (30000 tagged photos) again into new empty catalog folder, I'm unable to select the folder where all photos are located in file selection dialog via File=>Get Photos and Videos=>From Files and Folders. When I click this folder in file selector dialog, this folder just vanishes from the list. It seems that file selector dialog just does not work correctly now in Windows 7.
How I can get PSE8 working with Windows 7?
I did not find _any_ bug fix update releases for PSE8 either from the download pages nor via updates feature in the application.

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Receipts
Trash any files that say iTunes and empty the trash
Then run the iTunes installer (I had to redownload it)
It should work then! Mine did I even installed the newest version again and it's all ok.

  • Problem launching itunes after upgrade to version 7.

launching itunes in another newly created 'administrator' ser name does work. how can i get it to launch with my normal username ? i tried deleting the apple folder in local settings, and application data under my normal username or copy the folder from the new 'administrator' into my normal username, but to no avail yet....
    Any help ?

    Hi Jason,
I went through the whole msconfig menu and tried to launch itunes but no luck.
Also deleting the file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info did not work. After I restarted and launched itunes, box came up stating it was installing itunes, but then it disappeared again. It is still trying to launch and I can see it appearing for one second in the Task Manager if I try to open itunes, but then it disappears and all goes quiet.
I have a Trend Micro Office Scan system operating on my lap top. But then again the 'administrator' user account uses the same settings and can launch itunes....
so the multimilliondollar question is how can I launch itunes within my own user account... Version 6 ran perfectly....

  • Itunes library unable to sync after upgrading to Windows 8

I have all my iTunes contents (TV shows, movies and music) saved in an external hard drive.
Recently I upgraded my PC from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1, and I downloaded the latest iTunes after transitioning to Windows 8.1.
The problem is, the iTunes is unable to sync with iTunes library contents and I have to manually add each file back to iTunes, despite iTunes is able to recognize the media folder location under "Preferences".
Is there a way to automatically sync up all content files? Thanks.

    Hello shumyeah,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes.  It sounds like your music is on an external hard drive, and you would like iTunes to point to that library and store all your music files there. I also see that you have the iTunes Preferences set to save new content to the iTunes Media folder on the external drive.
The next steps is to to choose the iTunes Library on your external drive when launching iTunes.  Follow these steps:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Startmenu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see the following screen:
You can then choose the iTunes Library on your external drive.  You can find the full article here:

  • Problems connecting to the internet after Upgrade from windows 8.1 pro

Cant connect to the internet after upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, what can i do to rectify this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can also try to install the older version in compatible mode:
Windows 8.1 Wifi showing "limited" or "No Internet Access"
Solution: revert your network adapter driver back to an older version
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/dennis_schnell/archive/2013/08/31/windows-8-1-wifi-showing-quot-limitied-quot-or-quot-no-internet-access-quot.aspx
In addition, disable power management on your network driver:
    Open Network and Sharing Center.
Click the Change adapter settings link in the upper left of the navigation pane.
Right click the network connection you want to enable/disable power management support on and click Properties .
    Click Configure .
On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

I am unable to download iTunes on my second Windows 8 computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one and have used it quite a bit. After downloading the program and installing it on the second computer, I keep getting this error message: "Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start." This happens when when my IPhone 5c is connected via Wi-Fi and I have clicked on "Trust This Computer." (I have tried to install several times-- It gets hung up when it reaches"Starting Services.")

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
