Problems installing cs3 production premium: database corrupt

I have a new computer with windows 8.
On my old computer i used Premiere Pro CS3, now i tried Premiere Elements 11. I´m not happy with it so i deinstalled it and tried to install the CS3 production premium on the new Computer.
When I insert the disk and click on install an error appers immediately: "The installation database is corrupt."
I found out that there is an "Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" so i used it, but this doesnt resolve my error.
What do I have to do to install the CS3 Production Premium?
Oliver

Manually delete the caps.db in the caps folder:
Important Directories
Bob does have a point, though. Installing and using CS3 on Win8 is going to be all sorts of trouble, regardless.

  • Errors installing CS3 Production Premium

I am trying to install the new CS3 Production Premium and I am getting this error:
Critical errors were found in this setup. Incompatible payloads already installed. Please see the setup log filefor details.
I am not sure where to look for this setup log file.
    Any ideas?

Also i found the following on one of the threads on user forums:

Latina - while Peter's comment about your permission requirement is correct you have not mentioned a message telling you that you do not have the authority.
I had a similar problem - the following Adobe site helped after I realized that the "c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c" in \installers\ might have a different string. it did and when I followed the rest of the suggested actions CS3 installed (on my xp Pro x32 os - not on my x64 0s)
    Good luck

Solution 3: Start the Setup and then interrupt it.
    1. Navigate to the following folder on your hard drive:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c\resources\common\scripts
Alternatively you can press [WinKey]+R and type:
    "%CommonProgramFiles%\Adobe\Installers\c14ac4070fd9614ffe63f4bb533db2c\resources\common\s cripts"
    2. Locate a file called "ContainerProxy.js" open it with a text editor (E.G.: Notepad).
    3. Go to line 1102 or simply search for:
    "jsonObj = _jsonToObject(window.external.SetSessionInitialized(initValue));"
    and replace this line with:
    "jsonObj = _jsonToObject(SetSessionInitialized(initValue));"
    4. Save the file by pressing [Strg]+S or use the menu:
    Menu -> File Save.
    5. Install the Suite or CS3 application.

  • Problems Installing CS3 Web Premium on Windows Vista x64

I was (key word) having problems with my installation of CS3 on my brand new (3 days old) computer with Windows Vista x64. Finally after two days of installing and uninstalling, I called Adobe support. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they solved my problem (if only I had called sooner).
Having worked on this for 2 days I have seen and tried everything except of course the cure. So I wanted to put this out there for any one else that is having problems.
    The symptoms:
    - Everything seemed to install correctly (except acrobat which is another story. you can find lots of post about that.). No errors during installation. And when it finally completed installing, all that was left was to click "finish" which indicated to me that installation was successful.
    - Open Photoshop. PS would open and immediately stop working. Vista said it was not responding.
    - Open any of the other programs and the little vista circle would spin for 5 to 10 seconds then nothing. Program did not start to open. Just nothing.
The problem: Unbeknown to me (never saw an error message) "Licensing for this product had stopped working". When I described above symptoms tech support went straight to this.
The solution: Download the Licensing Service Update and run it. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
Once I ran this, Photoshop opened and let me enter serial number and activate CS3.
If after your installation, Photoshop or any of the other programs seem to get stuck or you never get the dialog box to enter serial number, the Licensing Service Update should fix things for you.

wow...thank you so much for this posting. I just got home & followed your steps and now I have CS3 up & running. After 4 days of stressing out, finally someone was able to assist. Why can't the Adobe Experts & Employees on these forums supply this much needed information?????
I seriously understand why people want to get crack versions of this software rather than paying hundreds of dollars like us and avoid all this BS and get no support whatsoever!
    Thank you again!!

  • Installing CS3 Production Premium

After feeding in the 4 installation disks, I get the following message:
    INSTALLATION/ RE INSTALLATION COMPLETED
    Successfully installed: 2
    Errors: 12 comonets
It then lists the 12 apps that didnt install.
    Whats going on? Anyone know.

    >Check the Windows Event Viewer for Errors generated by the MSI Installer. They should give some insight into what the problem is.
We did that and this showed error messages suggesting a problem with our DVD drive and/or the MS firewall so we tried a new load (after an uninstall) from another DVD drive and turned MS firewall off. Same problem. So called ADOBE and the suggested a workaround: pasting the installation disks into a folder and then installing from there. But prior to that we tried loading just one app at a time and system crashed with blue screen MS error message = PFN_LIST_CORRUPT so we're checking the memory first for a bad stick and we'll go from there after mem, bd and processor are tested. ADOBE also said it could be a bad installation disk and they said they will send a replacement set out right away if we want them to. If after successful memory check, we still have load problem I'll
    call for a replacement disk-set.
Adobe tech support and customer service have been very good so far even though wait times are a little long.
    Thanks for input,
    James

  • CS3 production premium disc 1 is scratched up

    Hello
I was trying to install cs3 production premium on a second pc for my boss. It did the normal full installation and yet only half of the programs were installed. I try again about 3 or 4 time and still programs like Photoshop and Premeire would not install. Bridge, soundbooth and stockphoto were the only ones installed.
I took a look at the discs and found that, to my surprise, disc1 is really scratched up. I thought maybe thats the problem.
So my boss called customer service about getting a replacement. It took a while but he got to someone who sent us a link so we could download disc1.
We download it, unzipped it, and burn a dvd. When I try intsallation again it asked for the original disc1. I took a look at the download and I found it is smaller than the original(1.5G).
What am I doing wrong? Can somebody help me?

  • Help! CS3 Production Premium major issues in Vista.

I have been having a heck of a time re-installing CS3 Production Premium on my Windows Vista Home Premium computer (32 bit).
    Here are the system stats:
Vista Home Premium 32 bit Service Pack 1
Intel 8500 dual core processor (swapped out old 6400)
    4 GB DDR 800
    (new) 500 GB WD HDD
Nvidia 9600 GTS 512MB Video Card
McAfee Firewall/Viruscan running in place of Windows
    DSL Internet
CS3 Was working great on this computer when it had the slower processor and a smaller HD (160 GB) but since that drive's death and subsequent replacement I have not been able to get a fully successful installation of CS3 to work on this computer. I have done multiple re-installs (format/install) of the OS, CS3 (install and uninstall), running the CleanCS3 script as suggested from tech support, ran under a new user, and install/running under a simplified bootup using msconfig.
CS3 installs successfully but when it comes to starting for the first time it takes about 10+ minutes to load the serial number screen, then hangs and is unable to activate. I then wait another 5-10 minutes for the "phone activation" screen to come up which succeeds.
Once activation is successful I can now boot into most of the CS3 programs with these results:
    AE - Boots OK/Exits OK
PS - Boots OK/Exits Hang on exit (have to force quit)
IL - Boots OK/Exits Hang on exit (have to force quit)
EN - Hang on Boot while building media layer
    FL - Boots OK/Exits OK
    PR - Hang on Boot
    SB - Boots OK/Exits OK
Please help anyone! I'm at wits end here as to why something that was working so well just days before on the same OS and Antivirus/Firewall system has since ceased to work properly. I am having to borrow the Macintosh from work in order to get work done using their copy of the CS3 suite.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Clean install of CS3 Production Premium

    Hi,
I have CS3 Production Premium Suite installed and all elements running well for over a year on a Vista PC.  I am selling the PC to switch to a Mac, and I want to do a clean install of Vista and then re-install CS3 onto the machine.  Will the be any registration/licensing issues when I try to re-install CS3 when it has already been registered?  If there will be, I will avoid the clean install of Vista and just clean the drives.
    Thanks!
    Baz

    It's in Help>Transfer Activation.
Though it is designed to clean up after the trial of CS3, I'd also run the Adobe CS3 CleanScript a couple of times, before doing a complete reinstall. Note: you want the CS3 version - choose carefully.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can I legally sell my CS3 Production Premium Academic?

I recently purchased an academic version of Adobe CS3 Production Premium (full, not an upgrade). It has been nothing but a nightmare and I am extremely unhappy with every aspect of the product. I have deactivated it and was forced to reformat my hard drive (low level)and reinstall Windows (per recommendation of Adobe tech support) because it completely borked my TCP/IP settings somehow and caused massive registry errors, and according to Adobe, leaves markers in the MBR that relate to the Flexnet licensing and Windows operation.
I has been well over 30 days and the vendor I purchased from stated quite clearly that I am no longer entitled to a refund, only a courtesy exchange. Since I will never use CS3 ever again, an exchange is not helpful to me.
I have already registered the software, but now have deactivated and have no trace of Adobe software of any kind on my computer. What are the legal rights concerning selling the software package, in its entirety, through channels such as ebay? If it is legal to do so, what steps must I take to ensure that the purchaser can register and use the program without my registration conflicting?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark Terry

    >It's hard to take a rant like this seriously, or agree with anything >that's
    >been said, when it's constructed entirely of sweeping >generalisations with
    >no reference to facts.
I'm not writing a scientific paper for peer-based review. I'm simply giving my opinion of the software and why I am desperate to sell it to recoup my losses.
I have already written in these forums time and time again with numerous CS3 related problems, as have hundreds of others who had similar problems with crashing software, botched installs, and endless headaches related to Flexnet licensing.
On top of that, in the brief period of time that CS3 did work, I found Photoshop CS3 to be less responsive than CS2 (or even 7!), and the interfaces for After Effects, Encore, and Premiere had horrible "jiggly" UI elements that would shift around with terrible redraw issues.
As an experienced computer user, my first instinct is to examine my system and reserve judgment on the software. However, after diagnostics my system was seen to be behaving normally. It's a 2.66GHz dual core system with 2GB ram and dual 8800 GTS 512 video cards, all the latest stable drivers and performs exceedingly well with all the other software I routinely utilize. Only Adobe CS3 was having this trouble; at first.
After the numerous steps taken to deactivate, reactivate, (so many deactivations and reactivations that Adobe had to "reset" my limit twice) uninstall and reinstall, running the cs3clean utility along with the Microsoft cleanup utility my entire TCP/IP subsystem became corrupted as well as numerous registry entries. Soon my system was taking upwards of eight minutes to boot up and I had no network functionality at all.
The fact that I was knowledgeable enough to rectify the situation doesn't diminish the fact the CS3 cost me not just hours, but weeks of hassle with its problems (causing such systemwide havoc as to render my syste unusable for any work at all). Only after all traces of Adobe software were entirely removed did my system regain normal functionality. This required a ow level format, according to Adobe, since they write licensing information to your MBR, to prevent people from using multiple copies of software in various boot sessions.
It seems evident (to me) that the crux of the problem is the Flexnet licensing system. It is so blunt and clumsy that the slightest problem renders everything useless. I understand Adobe's need to prevent unauthorized use, but if that means punishing the legal and the loyal, and furthermore, when it interferes with the functionality and dependability of the software, then I have to say that I will not use the software.
Whether or not the root of the problem is Flexnet, or Adobe, or my system, the bottom line is that the software simply does not do what it was intended to do.
For now I am relying on other software, which, to varying degrees, gets the job done. Of course, I'm left with a copy of CS3 gathering dust on my shelf. The box is quite heavy though, I coud use it as a doorstop and make beer coasters of the DVDs.

  • Windows 7 and Adobe CS3 Production Premium?

I'm about to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, and would like to know if Adobe CS3 Production Premium will install on
    Windows 7 64-bit?
Has anyone experience any problems?  Is there anything I should be aware of, or extra steps that must be taken during the installation of CS3?
    Thanks.

It should but why in the world would you stick with 32 bit video apps if you're moving to Win 7 64 bit? You can upgrade for a pretty reasonable amount and take advantage of the new machine. Put a boatload of RAM in there and you'll be a lot happier.
You can save $40 right now on Amazon with free shipping: http://amzn.to/e7sMSp
Finally, I'm assuming that this is about a new machine. If you truly mean you're upgrading Windows, then make sure you do a CLEAN INSTALL. Do not do an inplace upgrade of Windows.

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings.  Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another.  It is possible to recover however.  I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

I just got a new computer (MacBook Pro) running OS 10.6.7.  I deactived my Adobe software on my old computer (an older white MacBook which is also running OS 10.6.7), downloaded CS3 Web Premium from the Adobe on-line store (where I originally purchased it) to my new computer and double clicked the Setup icon.  I very briefly see a window saying "Initializing Adobe Setup..", then an installer alert window pops up saying "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue.  Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
