Problems installing updates

i just recieved a refurbished apple ibook g4. And there are eight updates that i cannot install. 1. apple intermediate codec 2. keynote update 3. desktop video out 4. garageband update 5. java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 release 2 6. Quicktime 7.0.3 (needed for ipod video) 7. Ipod updater 2005-11-17 8. mac os x 10.4.3 update. any suggestions?

Hi Mdbitne,
Well if that is actually the problem.. you need to ask the people that sold the iBook to you to see if they can register the Logic board to your model as part of the computer and not as a spare part for repair.
Once that is doen, you can registger on line your iBook and it should recognize the logic board, but once again, I'm not really sure that could be the problem.
Hope it helps though.
Best,
ARV.-

  • Problems installing updates to all of ilife 08

I am having major problems installing updates to all of ilife 08. The updater recognises & downoads the updates, but after completeing the download reports an 'unexpected error'. This has been happening for weeks?

    Saundg:
Can you give us some more info on your setup: system version, Quicktime version, iPhoto version currently running and the other iApps? Have you run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions and to verify the disk (and make any fixes that are reported needing fixed)?
You might try downloading the individual updater files from Apple's Downloads page and run locally.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problems Installing Updates from WSUS - Error Code 0x800f0826

    Hi Everyone,
I have a WSUS server that I am using to dish out updates to the rest of my network. I am using PC's with Windows Vista SP1. Most of my PC's are installing updates fine with no problems - but there are a certain few that will not install any updates and return the error 0x800f0826.
All of the PC's are from the same image - so there is nothing different in the software setup that I am aware of.
I have been browing the net for ages, and have tried a few fixes - for example:
Starting Various Services and Setting to Automatic - No Luck
Renaming the SoftwareDistribution Folder - No Luck
Checked update history for failed updates and unassigned potential problem update - No Luck.
I am running out of ideas now - can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Matt

  • Problems installing update PS CS5 on new Windows 7 laptop w/ prior PS vers. already installed

    Hi,
When I first got my new Windows 7 laptop, I tried loading PSCS5 onto it, but since it was an update disk, and previous versions weren't there, it didn't load. I finished my work during a 30-day trial period on a recent sabatical, I uninstalled it and all PS files except images saved, and have now gone through the following process in attempt to load it:
    1) Loaded PS 6.0 from a CD and serial number that I own--no problems
    2) Loaded PS CS2 from a CD and serial nuimber I own--no problems
    3) Loaded PSCS5 from an update CD also purchased, and got an error message saying something about CS4 needing to be uninstalled before CS4 could be properly loaded.
Puzzling because A: I never loaded CS4, and B: was not trying to. So I uninstalled everything conceivably troubling from Adobe, even Flash Player, Patch files, but not ASA or Adobe Download Helper. Some Adobe files left behind I deleted and emptied the recycle bin and restarted over several different times. To my knowledge, my CS5 has only been used on one other computer. Do I need to de-activate it on the other one? I don't find it on a 3rd computer, but if it was simply uninstalled, without de-activation, would I need to re-install it to deactivate it on the 3rd one. I'm hoping somebody can help me tell how many computers have CS5 activation.
Now, I've tried simply loading the CS2 disk and going to the PSCS5, and that failed, so I re-did steps 1-3 after purging also Lightroom3 and DreamWeaver CS3, thinking something from them might've been the culprit (though they earlier loaded flawlessly after a de-activation of DW on another computer). This time the Adobe Support box came up and after searching the system or whatever, said 'no problems could be found', and that I should contact Adobe Support. No FAQ's address this problem and a scan of forums was not helpful. So here I am.
Any ideas? If it is lack of a Registry entry, it would be helpful to know exactly which one and how precisely to get it and patch that into Windows 7 for those of us who are not IT geeks. I'm guessing this might be a recurrent issue and it would be helpful to simply have that code to patch in, if it is known.
Otherwise, I'm stuck using CS2, which while OK, is not CS5.
All my Adobe products have been purchased originally purchased and activated by me.
    Thanks for any help,
    Michael J Kissane

    Hi Jeff,
After reading your mail, I've un-installed the previous versions now
(both 6.0 and CS2), including manually some files listed as
impossible to uninstall under the PS 6.0 wizard (Adobe Program files
x86, something). I restarted the computer (Lenovo running Windows 7
    Home Premium).
I then tried to run the PS CS5 Upgrade disk directly and it failed
with suggestion to go to the ASA, which said quickly "Inspection
could not identify any issues. Please contact Adobe Support for
further assistance"... and the website for same.
I recall I did get a box with a request for the qualifying
prerequisite's serial when I first tried this in December, but not
having that on hand and after failing (I believe I even tried getting
serials from 'My Adobe' resource) I punted and went for the trial
period to finish my project. The rest I've written about in my forum posting.
I'm hoping info from Maggie_8 from the forum
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3880631#3880631 may get me through
it. Otherwise, I don't know if I can save what's on the new laptop to
an external HD and start all over after back tracking to a previous
point (this was possible in older Windows OS, I recall, but one lost
anything not saved elsewhere as the clock was turned back, so to speak)
Frustrating...I had problems with Adobe Reader, too, and I hope I've purged it.
Will persevere, but without wasting eons of time. Other fish to fry
    and all that...

  • Problem installing update 6.1

I have an iPhone 4. I tried to install the update 6.1. It failed, apparantly due to verification. After the second try, I was directed to plug my iPhone into my iTunes. I then had to restore my iPhone. If I had not had my laptop, my iPhone would have been unuseable. There appears to be a problem with the update.

    Lensho wrote:
I have an iPhone 5, and it won't boot after installing ios 6.1 through the phone itself, then I conected to my laptop and use iTunes and won't restore it, just gives me the message "The iPhone could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (-1)"
With the phone connected to the computer, hold the top button and home button (like you're doing a hard reset).  When the screen goes black, release the top button while continuing to hold the home button.  In a few seconds, your computer should say "Detected an iPhone in recovery mode" and guide you through the restoration process.
    Good luck.

  • Problem installing updates - proxy setting error

Every time I try to install java 1.5 updates, I get an error message saying "Installation cannot proceed with current proxy settings". I have referred to the installation guide which tells me that if I can get to the web outside my firewall my proxy settings are OK. In addition, there is nothing checked in my proxy settings in IE. I went through diagnostics with my ISP and they couldn't find anything wrong. I have tried to contact Sun but have gotten no answer. Anybosy have any ideas?

I solved the problem. Apparently Norton Firewall automatically blocks java SDK downloads. For anbody getting the proxy setting message, check your firewall settings. It does seem like Sun could give a more accurate error message.

  • Problem installing updates

OK. Here we go. I have an ibookG4 with about 15.91GB of hard drive space left. I was running 10.3.9 when my computer started going crazy so I decided to reinstall the os. The os that came with my computer was 10.3.5. So I loaded that with no problem. Now I want to upgrade to 10.3.9. I was told you cannot just load 10.3.9 that you have to go and do each update. So I donwloaded 10.3.6, 10.3.7, 10.3.8 and 10.3.9. I loaded the 10.3.6 just find and restarted the computer. However when I try to load 10.3.7 I get a message that says. "you cannot install this software on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update". Now I went through this process before and was able to load all of the updates. Now I can not. Any suggestions. Thanks.

    palko,
Have you tried running Repair Permissions via Disk Utility on your HD before the update? I would also boot to your install disk and run Repair Disk via Disk Utility on your install disk also to check for any disk corruption preventing you to successfully update. Run those and then try running the Combo update again. If it install successfully then rerun Repair Permissions from the HD/Applications/Diskutility and you should be good to go.
Post back if still unsuccessful or if you have questions as to how to run Disk Utility from you HD or from the install cd/dvd,

  • Problem installing updates or programs since upgrading

Can anyone help me with this message I am getting whenever I install software or upgrades? This began after upgrading to sl.
The system extension"/System/Library/Extensions/CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.
I found somewhere in discussions to boot from system cd, check disk status, repair permissions, reboot. I have done that. Yet when I installed iTunes 9 I got this message. I also did another update of something (sorry can't remember) but got same message. It shows up while doing updates or installs.
What should I try next? I really thought my sl upgrade went well. Just don't know where this is now coming from. Thanks.

To also add...I was very careful with my sl upgrade. I repaired permissions 1st, backed up to time machine, installed sl, repaired permissions, backed up to time machine again.

  • Problems installing updates to my computer. Please help =)

    Hey,
I have installed Tiger 10.4 on my iMac (700Mhz) and I want to upgrade to 10.4.7 but the Software update gives me errors trying to download. Then I tried dowloading the 10.4.7 from Apple and mounting it to my desk top, but the verification process gives me an error that says "invalid checksum.: I have tried several times with the same results. I also tried skipping the verification process, and though the 10.4.7 mounted when I try to install it , it says that "you cannot install this Mac OS X server update on this volume." Please help!! Thanks Guys... Been trying to figure this out for days now to no avail.

it says that "you cannot install this Mac OS X server update on this volume."
This indicates you downloaded the OS X 10.4.7 Server Update which is incorrect.
You need to download the 10.4.7 Combo Update - client version for a PPC (PowerPC) processor.

  • Problems installing/updating Flash Player

    Hello
    I am currently running Windows 7 64bit
I noticed that my web browser would hang when playing certain flash based adverts on web pages. I wasn't sure of this was a Firefox 4 problem or a Flash problem so thought to re-install flash player in the first instance and go from there
In add/remove programs I noticed that the version installed was 10.3.181.22 but in the addons section in Firefox it was showing as 10.3.181.14
Anyway, using add/remove programs I uninstalled Flash Player and rebooted my PC. I downloaded the 10.3.181.22 installer from the Adobe website but now when I try to run it I keep getting the error message “The installation encountered errors: Flash Player could not be installed because an existing version may still be in use. Please close all applications using Flash Player and try again”
However when I go into add/remove programs again Flash Player is installed as version 10.3.181.22. Checking the addons in Firefox it is showing as 10.3.181.14. The Adobe website also shows me as having WIN 10,3,181,14
I have been through the Troubleshoot Flash Player Installation webpage and tried the stuff there in but I am still having the problem. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas as to what might be causing it?
    Many Thanks

Hi, it sounds like some application that uses Flash may have not been disabled. Try this: Download and SAVE the Uninstaller to your Desktop:   http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer (if you want FP Installed in IE)
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for FF- use the EXE Installer for plugin based (from the same site)
Close all browser windows, disable any instant messenger services as yahoo, msn, etc from the system tray(area near the clock)
    Disable your realtime Anti-Virus.
    Use the Administrator Account
Run the Uninstaller and then reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure your Anti-Virus is still disabled.
Then Run the Installer for IE(if you want Flash Player Installed), then Run the Installer for FF. When finished, Reboot.
Turn your Anti-Virus back on along with anything disabled in the system tray.
Test each browser here, and you should be able to see the Flash Player logo(Red F) animate(spin)
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You can print these instructions out to make it easier to follow since you will be offline until finished.
    Thanks,
