Problems moving edited photos onto a new document.

I am new to Photoshop CS3 extended and i am having problems moving an edited photograph to a new document for printing. I get a screen stating 'The target document has a different depth than the source document. This may result in lower than expected quality. Are you sure you want to proceed' If i say yes nothing happens,
if i try to print from the edited photograph without moving it onto a new document it doesnt fit onto an A4 paper and comes up with 'Specifit print settings (Interpolation, Calibration,Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non post-script printer.
This has just started to become a problem I have not changed printer which is a printer/scanner/copy Lexmark 4550 please help

Sounds like you are trying to make a move a 16bit image into an 8 bit image. besure to convert it before you transfer.

  • After iphoto 9.1.5. problem with editing photos

After I did the 9.1.5. update I have a problem with editing photo's. My photo's are about 35mb a piece.. they are panoramic photo's. Editing used to work perfect in iphoto 8.. after I went to iphoto 9 it became buggy.. (it crashes on certain photo's that 8 could handle without a problem).. but I learned to live with it. Now I did the 9.1.5. update and I can edit maybe 2 or 3 pics without a problem.. then when I get to number 4 Iphoto will show me a black screen.
If I close iphoto and start it again, I can continue where I left off.. untill I get to a picture that seems to ruin the party.. and then I have to restart again..
Iphoto 8 used to work so smooth with panoramic photo's.. dont know where it went wrong..

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

yeah, in itunes if you select your phone, you should get tabs across the top for what to sync, under photos uncheck the box
EDIT: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 is the link to a apple support document with information on syncing photos using itunes.

  • Problem saving edited photos in iPhoto

    HI
When editing in iphoto the changes I have done are not saved correctly. If I select a photo then choose 'edit -> enhance -> done' everything is saved as expected even when losing edit-view BUT if I try to edit in another way for example 'edit-> adjust' and then changes the 'shadows' settings manually and press 'done' the changes are not saved. When selecting the edited photo to to watch it in full-size or even as the icon size (i.e. how every photo appears in each Event before being clicked on) the photo shows up unedited. I have to chose the edit-view to see the changes I have done.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the contents of the User/LIbrary/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder, launch iPhoto and try again. If still no go create a new test library, import a couple of photos and try your editing there.
If the new library works as it should then the problem lies in your original library. If it doesn't work then more tests are indicated.
Log into another user account on your Mac and try the editing there. If it doesn't work there then a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.
It the editing works in the other account then the problem lies in your user account. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard/Snow Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.
5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

  • Problems with edited photos in iPhoto

Hi all, today I imported some photos from my iPhone into iPhoto. After I cropped the photo and tried to open it, it became black with a grey exclamation. (see photo) If I reverted the photo back to original it worked all well. I could not export the edited photo either..
Old photos which have been edited before today in iPhoto works just fine, but if I try to edit old photos, which are imported, the same thing happes. When I close the photo, the thumbnail is there of the original picture.
I hav tested to restart the machine and repaired disk permission without help. When I veryfy the disk it says the disk is OK.
    MacBook Pro with OS 10.7.2
    iPhoto ´11 version 9.2.1
The opened and edited photo looks like this:
Anyone else experienced this and have some tips, tricks or solutions? :-)

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • TS4253 iPhone 6 cannot import edited photos onto Macbook

I have iOS 8 as well as the new Yosemite and latest iPhoto, as the Apple support recommends. However, I can still only import originals into iPhoto from my iPhone. It's maddening. What should I do?

    Hi MusicLiz,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know that it can be frustrating when your edited pictures revert back to originals after importing them to your computer. This can happen if your photo-management application cannot read XMP format. The following article describes the situation and names several applications that support XMP format.
iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

I am having problems transfering JPEP photos from my computer to my new IPOD4 Touch.

Please provide more information such as:
    - what is format and file size of the photos and how were they produced?
    - How are you trying to "move" to your iPod?
    - What happens when you try to "move" them? Error messages or what?

  • Problem moving Mail from old to new iMac

I followed instructions about moving Mail--with all mail folders and old emails intact--from my old PowerPC iMac to my new Intel 3.20 MHz iMac. I copied the folder "Mail" inside my user library and the "plist" file from Preferences onto my thumb drive from the old computer, then uploaded these files onto the new one. I was able to easily replace the "plist" file with the onscreen prompt (Do you want to replace?), but the Mail folder went into the Library folder as a duplicate only. So, I tried to delete the original and unused Mail folder, but everytime I sent to the trash and empty the trash, it magically reappears, so that my old emails don't show up when I open the Mail program. I know the files are there--but how do I make my new iMac recognize them and how do I delete the empty Mail folder that was on the new computer originally to avoid confusion? Thanks for any advice you can give.

You may need to rename the copy to be simply Mail. This is best done having first removed any Mail folder on the new Mac, but this should work as well.

  • How do I download my adobe photos onto a new computer?

How can I download all my adobe revel photos onto a computer to save? Preferably all at once and not one photo at a time.

If your new computer is a Mac I would recommend installing the Revel Mac application. There you can select multiple images, then select Photos>Export and export the images where ever you would like on your desktop.
From a browser at adoberevel.com you can only download one image at a time.

  • HELP!!! Problems with editing photo settings

I have edited a block of photo settings, and now, when I try to edit an individual frame, I get a black screen and I can't change anything. What did I do wrong? Is there a quick fix?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the discussion, slanson.
There's a bug in iMovie 6 that affects updating the clips of photos imported with the Ken Burns checkbox ON. The import settings can't be changed for those clips — the clip can't be updated — after emptying the iMovie Trash.
There is no fix. The only solution for those clips is to re-import the photo. That's not a huge problem, actually, for iMovie lets us search for the photo by name, which usually matches the clip name.
One workaround is to never empty the iMovie trash. There are other (mostly partial) workarounds too, discussed here:

  • Moving Adjusted Photos to a New Adjusted Composite

Why do adjusted photos lose all their adjustments when moved to a final composite looking like the original ,jpg or worse? What's the secret here?

When CS4 is opened, photo images are placed there because BRIDGE doesn't work. The composite background is designed first, color adjusted and made transparent and saved and then each photo is opened one at a time on a new page, adjusted and  also saved as .psd. Moving each of these photos from its page to the composite page results in all the adjustments being lost. One of two things happen: the image reverts to the darkness of the .jpg (some photos didn't have the flash working) or, it gets much, much lighter as it is placed on the adjusted composite background.
Why oh why does this happen? What am I doing wrong here? I've tried linking  the layers, merging visible, and whatever else layers offers and nothing works. This is so crazy!

  • Problem using Bridge Photo Downloader with new camera

I have the new Olympus E5. I can't use the Photo Downloader in Bridge for RAW files. It doesn't convert the ORF ( RAW ) files to dng.

No, in the last several versions of PSE for mac prior to PSE 9, Adobe Bridge was included for keywording and such. The version of bridge that ships with the big Creative Suite programs includes the full Adobe Raw Converter, the one you get with full Photoshop. Elements has always had a somewhat cut down version of the Adobe raw converter--same basic plug-in, but doesn't have all the features enabled.
In PSE 8, for some reason the full features were not disabled in the version of bridge that ships with PSE (prior to that opening a file into the bridge converter showed you exactly the same features you got if you just opened a raw file directly into the PSE Editor's version of the converter). However, that was just a one-time thing. (I'm guessing they ran out of time or something).
But all versions of Elements include their own raw converter, with the smaller feature set, whether or not you use Bridge or Organizer. If you don't use bridge or organizer, you can open a raw file into the Elements editor by using File>Open, and that will bring up the PSE converter window.
In PSE 9, Adobe has stopped shipping any version of bridge, and now includes a version of the Organizer that windows PSE users have been getting. But you can still use bridge if you have it from PSE 8, only you can't update it anymore. You can still update the raw converter in PSE itself.

  • Is there a way through aperture to move all of my referenced photos onto a new hard drive while maintaining the current file structure and still keep them as referenced files.

I just want to migrate all of my work (all photos are referenced) from one drive to another and have my aperture library start working off of my new larger hard drive.

Depending on how your folder hierarchy is organized you might be able to do this with file->relocate masters and one of the options of folder organization that is provided but... if you have complicated hierarchy that Aperture will not reproduce then you can just copy all the entire folder hierarchy to the new drive using finder and then use file->locate masters to reconnect them to Aperture like this...
    Aperture 3 – Locate Referenced Files « RB|Design
It's actually a bit easier if the old folder hierarchy/drive is disconnected when you do this for a few reasons.

  • Problems moving IMAP store to a new drive in 10.4 Server

    Hi,
I'm having some problems with IMAP mail in 10.4 Server. I'm trying to move my mail store over to a different volume and have been having problems. Here are the locations:
    Database location: /Volumes/vol-old/Mail/Database
    Mail store location: /Volumes/vol-old/Mail/Store
I'm trying to move them to:
    /Volumes/vol-new/Mail/Database
    /Volumes/vol-new/Mail/Store
So what I initially did was to clone vol-old to vol-new using SuperDuper, and enter the new paths into the two fields in Server Admin. Simple, right? Seems like it should be, but when I try this, upon a client trying to log in I get this repeated over and over in my /var/log/mailaccess.log:
Feb 6 21:25:38 pmac imaps[1606]: Fatal error: ERROR: Cannot start mail services, configuration directory does not exist: /Volumes/vol-new/Mail/Database
    Feb 6 21:25:38 pmac master[1581]: process 1606 exited, status 75
Feb 6 21:25:38 pmac master[1581]: service imaps pid 1606 in READY state: terminated abnormally
    Feb 6 21:25:38 pmac master[1607]: about to exec /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/imapd
As far as I can tell, vol-old/Mail and vol-new/Mail are exactly the same. I tried re-copying vol-old/Mail to vol-new/Mail using ditto and cp -Rp with the same results.
I've also tried renaming vol-new to vol-old with the same results.
The old mail store, at /Volumes/vol-old/Mail, continues to work fine.
I am stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks so much,
    Alex

    Ohhhhh geeez. *smacks forehead*
I did stop the mail service before copying, and ACLs are disabled on both volumes. The permissions within the Mail dirs all look to be the same...
What I didn't do was look at directory permissions... vol-old was 755... vol-new was 700. Changed it, works fine now.
Thanks for your help, and sorry to waste your time... hopefully this post will help other idiots like me
