Problems rendering Quicktime to networked PC

We are using FCP 5.1. and OS 10.4.6.
I can copy a 6 gig file to a networked PC (NTFS format drive) and it copies fine.
If I render the same show directly to the networked PC, using Final Cut Pro, Quicktime, self contained movie, it get's split up into 2 gig files on the PC.
The workaround is to render to the mac, then copy the file.
What causes the file to be split when rendered?

sure. We only use a PC as a last resort for any production step. We upload and store or transfer on the network servers, that's where the mass storage is available. but we also have to make our stuff available to our employees so we transcode to wmv and upload the completed files to a server. We use a Macintosh encoder, saving to a Mac and then upload. It's almost impossible to trust the network to enable a useful wmv if it is encoded live to the network storage.

Problem with QuickTime Movies From iMovie HD

I posted this earlier (on the second day of Leopard's Release), and did not get much feedback, and so thought I'd try again after people have had time to run Leopard.
I have some movies that I created using iMovie HD. I have the QuickTime version of the movie for use with Front Row.
On my G5 iMac running Leopard, the quality of the movies on Front Row is fine. However, in Leopard, the quality is lousy. The movies were made from still photos, using the Ken Burns effect. There are also transitions. On the web, on my iWeb site, the pictures take a while to come into focus. I sort of expect this on the web. However, I've found the same thing with the movie files using Front Row on Leopard. Again, this slowness in coming into focus does not appear when playing the movie on Front Row on Tiger on a G5 iMac.
Curious if anyone else has encountered problems/issues with QuickTime movies files from iMovie HD. And if so, what if any fixes are available.

Hmmmm, so it works OK in Front Row but NOT in Quicktime player? Thats odd. Front Row works worse for me!
It sounds like it may be a rendering problem with Quicktime - It has to process the file in general (or parts of the file, for example, if you export 10 pics looped in Flash, it has to process the 10 image files each time it plays it through, resulting in the first 4 or 5 images to shoot out jerkily [read LAG] unlike the rest of the movie, which is smooth). If these images in your movie are large in file size or contain tons of wacky photoshopped effects, etc, that might be whats causing the problem.
I'd check everything is updated to the latest version, repair permissions on the disk in Disk Utility, and then see if anythings improved.

Problems rendering from CS6 using H.264

I'm trying to render out an H.264 from CS6, but getting really glitchy grey pixelated results. So far what I've diagnosed is that if I render from CS6 using format H.264 I get the issue, but if I render out as format Quicktime using the H.264 codec the movie is fine. I tried rendering out in CS5.5 and in both cases there are no problems, which makes me think it's something to do with the way that CS6 handles the H.264 format.

One other thing to note is that the problem doesn't seem to show up when viewed in Quicktime 7.
I'm on a 12 core MacPro running OSX 10.6.8 and have AE CS6 11.0.1.12

I was rendering Quicktime loseless .mov files for converting to .mp4 for web use and I came across this issue. My quicktime mov's were accurate but my converted files were looking grey and a bit washed out. After endless attempts at converting in Adobe Media Encoder, I found this piece of info. It has eveything to do with your video card settings. In my case, I am on a PC with an NVIDIA video card. Here is what I did.
NVIDIA Control Panel > Adjust video color settings > Set 'With NVIDIA Settings', go to Advanced tab and set the dynamic range to Full (0-255)
and a screenshot for your convenience.
Boom, problem solved. Is this going to help users with the same setting issue, arg nope. But I'm assured that it's a problem I cannot control.

When the page is submitted for approval by using SharePoint OOTB Page Approval Workflow, it takes quite long time and prompt error message as below.
"The form cannot be submitted to the Web server either because your computer is offline or because the host server is currently unavailable.
If this problem persists, contact your network administrator."
It only happens in Internet Explorer version 8 and 9. IE version below 8 is not used in environment.
But it is working in Firefox.
Please help me on how to fix this issue.

STILL no real answer to problems with QuickTime and Flash Player

The reply to Problems with QuickTime really didn't answer or solve the basic problem. Some sites to work at all require you to have working Flash Player 8 so when I try to use these sites I get the QuickTime logo with a question mark and then nothing. For all you experts on Apple and Mac; what is going on? Apple is the parent of QuickTime and I assume they want their customers happy with their work. So why is it so hard for these apparently small updates to their programs causing entire sites being blocked off? I have OS x 10.3.9 on a G4 iMac 855mHrz .... It seems that even though we, the customer by default become Apples program testers;the actual programers are never given the go ahead to actualy look at these problem posts. Has anyone ever gotten a solution for a problem they posted here from one of the programmers of the product? It would be nice to know we aren't left to our own devices when it comes to program gliches from the source. If the powers that be in apple are watching and willing to help; any time now is a good time to just but in on the conversation and help solve some of the problems us little people keep on running into.--------------
While online I run into sites that will NOT work without Flash Player 8 (which costs over $150.00) which is told to the viewer with a QuickTime logo with a question mark in it.
This leads the web surfer to try to upgrade or at least investigate Flash Player in their computer and it's version.When said web surfer looks at Flash player upgrade for bucks and the fact that in some way it is tied to QuickTime, web surfer gets real curious. Do the web masters for those sites know that their site is now blocked off? If any major portion ( say 30 or 40 % ) of the web surfing crowd is required to purchase an upgrade to Flash Player even though it doesn't look like Apple is the parent of said Flash Player; those web masters are going to be upset with Apple. Their income is tied to actuall access and browsing of a site, even if it is only to actually just get the Home page. With no access to the site due to no Flash Player 8, the web master is going to find those all important Hits going down to nil. -------
This post is way to broad for any one answer so I don't really expect one. But for you people who have run into similar problems with other programs and sites; I would love to hear if you got any help from other web surfers or from the parent people of those programs and/or sites. Sorry, but you are completely misinformed. Flash Player 8 doesn't cost one red cent; it's only the Flash creation package that you have to pay for. You can download the free Flash Player 8 here.
QuickTime can natively handle some Flash content, which is why with the lack of the Flash player the browser defaults to the QT plugin. But Flash 8 is a relatively new format from Macromedia and I'm not sure QT supports it yet. Install the Flash 8 player and things should work just fine.
And just FYI, for questions about the Mac version of QuickTime, you'll be better off asking them in the QuickTime for Mac forum.

My mac Mini has problem rendering images and video

THE PROBLEM:
My mac mini has problem rendering JPEG image. There are strips on the images. Other images such as GIF, PNG, TIFF, and BMP are displayed nicely.

(Please note that this image is grabbed from my faulty Mac Mini and saved into TIFF. For uploading purpose, I converted it into JPEG on ANOTHER computer.)
For movies, AVI can be playback without problem. But when it is converted to MPEG, it looks like an untunned TV channel.
FIXES TRIED:
I did erase and install 3 to 4 times using both the install disc and my Tiger Family Pack. All ended up with strips on the JPEG images and the generated MPEG movies.
I've also tried to flash the firmware to 113-xxxxx-124 using ATI's october 2005 universal ROM update, however, the ROM Revision shown in System Profiler is still 113-xxxxx-116 no matter how many time I reboot the system.
INVESTIGATION:
Yesterday, I did some research and got to know that JPEG and MPEG are using DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) for decompression. And the ATI Radeon 9200 chip provide such a transform on hardware basis, which free the CPU from doing something else. Feel free to point out my inaccuracy.
HARDWARE SPECIFICATION:
I bought the Mac Mini in the last Februray.
The system Boot ROM version is: 4.8.9f1
Display card is ATI Radeon 9200
Chipset Model: ATY,RV280
Revision ID: 0x0001
ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-116
A POSSIBLE CONCLUSION:
I suspect that it is this part of the chip (the DCT) that is faulty.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Assuming that your display is tightly connected, thus the problem is not caused by something as simple as that, the fact that a full erase and install has not removed the problem would, I think, point to this being a hardware issue, and given that everyone's mini (with the possible exception of some of the latest ones) has the same video chipset as yours, and do not suffer the problem that you appear to, it seems very likely that your mini has a fault which is in need of repair.
If you have an Apple Store nearby, I would take it there to have it checked out - at the very least they should be able to replicate your problem using an in-store display, and if not, thusly suggest it's something external to the mini and concerning your display or something very unusual in the immediate environment of the mini. If you don't have an Apple Store in reach, I'd take the system to an Apple authorized service provider since at the present time it is under warranty.

Problems printing in wlan network

i have a strange problem. running a wireless network in my office, with an old lexmark optra S 1855 hooked up as the printer. we're all using macs, all running osx leopard or panther. i am the only one that can print either using the wireless network or ethernet. the others can't print using the wireless network, they have to use ethernet cables to print.
any ideas??

Can you please describe your network a little more. Example - do you have a router and then added a second one (like an Airport Base/Express) for wireless?

ITunes cannot run because it detects a problem with Quicktime

When I click on the help icon I am prompted to uninstill Quicktime. The problem is, Quicktime isn't in the list of installed programs. It is visable if I go to classic view in the control panel page but I can't seem to delete it.

Since you do not have Quicktime in your list of installed programs, just delete the Quicktime files it recommends, this appears in the final section: +Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled+
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.

Using the clean up utility, remove any reference you find to Quicktime.
Restart your PC
Then install the standalone Quicktime.

If I use this code without wmode='transparent', It work but my css menu doesn't work.

The suggestion made by Golubkov is correct. Make sure that you have configured the CAN objects to correspond to the Ports- for instance, Port1 to CAN0 and Port 2 to CAN1.
If this dosen't fix the problem, let us know what the error message clearly states ( can be found out by clicking on the details tab).

OK now I'm having problems rendering. I have about 6m:22sec of video that I need to render. But I get this Render Error:
Insufficient disk space. Free up space with the Render Manager and Retry?
There is no files in the Render Manager Section?
What do I do. The project is on a 1 TB Western Digital Ext Hard Drive with plenty of HD space.
Any help would be great.

Fine. But where are the Render files being written to and how much space is on that drive?

Problems reading other wireless network.

Hello everyone,
I am writing this message because in the last weeks I have been having a problem with my wireless network on my macbook. Every time that I open the computer it reads another network first and not the one that is mine. My other computer, ipad and ipod touch are reading the network that I own, but this macbook is not reading it first. I always have to go to network settings and changes it.
Any advice or help in that regard? I will appreciate it.

Go into System Preferences... > Network
Select AirPort from the list on the left and then your usual Location
Click Advanced and select the AirPort tab
Delete ALL networks EXCEPT your own from the list of nearby networks
Click on OK, Apply, etc
