Problems running PSE 8 in Mac

Greetings:
I am running into problems trying to successfully run PSE 8 on an iMac. I have tried installing from the CD, a trial version download and have repeated uninstall and re-install thrice atleast with the same issues. When I organize my pictures in Bridge CS4 and want to edit in PSE 8, I get the following error msg:
"Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, Please re-install the application".
Although the msg seems self explanatory it is not specific as to what is missing and none of my attempts to uninstall and re-install has eliminated this problem. I have seen a few others have posted this error msg for different applications other than PSE 8 on Mac. If any of you have run into this and successfully recovered from this error, I would be glad to hear your suggestions.

Uninstall PSE 8 (use the uninstaller from applications>Adobe PSE 8.0), then run this:

Create a new admin user and try reinstalling from there. Repair permissions after installing.

I had PSCS2 on my old PC and with the conversion to Mac I was going to go for PSE8 (since a lot of the things I use PS for weren't available in PSE when I bought CS2, but are now available with PSE8). Sorry, but I'm confused by the discrepancy between your thread title and the body of your post. Do you mean you don't know where the download went? It should have gone into your downloads folder, which is usually able to be accessed as a stack in the dock if you haven't removed it from there. If you have, open a finder window and click on your username>downloads.

Problem running PSE 11 after system unexpected system shut down and restart

Computer lost power during photo upload in PSE 11 organizer. after restarting cannot open program. Tried reinstall of program still same issue. Help?

Hi,
You may have a corrupt catalog.
I would first try to repair and optimize your catalog.
Load the organizer while holding down the shift key - that should open the Catalog Manager.
Select you current catalog and click on the Repair button
When that has finished, click on the Optimize button
When that is done, click on the Cancel button to close the Catalog Manage

Problems with PSE 8.0 (Mac version)

Hi,
I have two problems regarding PSE and Adobe Customer Service.
First things first :
1. When I try to run successfully installed software I receive this error:
and I don't know what to do next. Im trying to run it on Leopard Snow.
2. I bought software from shop on adobe.com and when contacted with polish Adobe division (country I'm from) I was denied any customer assistance (even when they checked that this software is legit). They claim that I can only contact with american division. Is that right? I'm pretty much sure that I have right to call to the nearest customer service and ask for help - but maybe Im wrong.

Problem running java applications on Mac Mini.

I have a Mac Mini. Days ago, I started having problems running java applications. Right now, I can not run any java application or even a plugin into a web page.
I downloaded and reinstalled java from Oracle website, but the problem remains unsolve.

What error indications do you get? You have to enable error logging in the Java Control Panel to see the details.

Where are you getting this message? In the organizer, the editor, or the welcome screen? If in the organizer, try going to the preferences>partner services and clicking the Refresh button.
If from the welcome screen, launch the editor from the applications folder and make a dock icon for that, and skip the welcome entirely. The visible file in applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 is not the editor. You want this one:
The one at the top level is an alias for the welcome screen, which is best avoided.

Hi. I'm having a weird experience on opening document using
the Microsoft word 2008 application in MAC OS X.
To be specific on what is the scope of my application.
What I'm trying to do is run or simulate my application on appletviewer on a certain pop-up HTML

Now the weird things happen here.
The file was able to opened- as I wanted to, but when a made changes or not doing anything.
The Microsoft Word 2008 application on the MAC Activity Monitor. The instance was still alive or
keep running and I execute MAC commands being implement on the Process on the Terminal and it still
stuck in that thing. which means I have to manually kill the process of the said application on
the GUI part of Task Manager of MAC and my 2nd statement on the if replies.
Any thoughts will glady appreciated.

"Save for Web" PSE 6 - Mac

I'm using PSE 6 on a Mac running the latest Mac OS (Leopard, 10.5).
PSE 6 is set as my default editor for iPhoto. The other night, I was editing photos and selecting "Save for Web." No dialog box came up. I could save changes to the photos, and those changes would go back to iPhoto, but no Web versions were saved.
Thinking the problem might be with bringing the photos from iPhoto, I pulled them out into a separate file in my pictures folder. Still, when I click "Save for Web," no dialog box, no saving for Web.
In my understanding, "Save for Web" should reduce the size of the photo, reduce it to 72 dpi, and do (or give me the option to do quickly) all the other things needed to post photos to the Web, n'est pas? So what gives here? Any ideas?

Please verify if the logged in user is able to create folders at location Go->Applications\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Presets. Verify if folder named "Optimized Colors" is there or gets created when you use Save for web. If not then create this folder at the location mentioned and try.

PSE 6 Mac

I have a friend who bought PSE 6 Mac, and has been told by Apple that she cannot install it on her computer. (Apple says there is a technical problem.) She is thoroughly discouraged. This is the most I know about her computer: She has a G4 and runs 10.4.something. I find it hard to believe that PSE 6 cannot be installed on her computer. Does Apple know what it is talking about?

I tried doing cleanscript with level 1 y after all I couldnt install PSE again. I had also PSE trial before this installation try. Do you think if i do cleanscript with level 2, this will delete other programs?

Power Supply Temperatures Running Hot! Mac Pro shuts down.

Hello,
First I will give machine/hardware specs of interest:
2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (pre 2009)
8 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 (running 2 displays)
Apple RAID Card/Controller
SMC Version: 1.25f4
*venting dimensions around computer: top=18", left side=3", right side=3" and back=18".
Software of interest currently running:
OS X 10.5.8
iStat Menu
SMC Fan Control
My machine has been shutting down spontaneously and I suspect either CPU or power supply overheating. In the 5 instances this has occurred, the room was very warm (AC was not on) and I was running HandBrake with CPU at full and an iStat reading of 145 F. Ambient was 77 F and I was not reading power supply temps at the time. I figured for sure this must be a CPU overheating issue. However, just a few hours ago I had another shutdown. The room was warm again but I was not running Handbrake, but StarCraft II. I have played a lot of Starcraft II with no problems until tonight.
I decided, this time, to check the temps on my power supplies. Power supply 1 = 147 F, and #2 is at 178 F. After many hours of searching forums I have concluded that these are crazy hot temps! I immediately installed SMC Fan Control to attempt to increase the fan speeds. I was successful in increasing all fans except the power supply (stuck at 599rpm). I have now turned the AC on in the house and the Ambient is down to 70, PS #1 145 and PS #2 169. All of these temps are a result of and idle machine running a browser.
The following may or may not be an issue, however, leave no stone unturned. I currently have 12 external devices running on USB. 4 WD passport drives, 1 DVD writer, 5 WD powered drives plus the keyboard and mouse. Also, the Mac Pro is plugged into a small UPS.
In all my forum searches, I just can't seem to answer some basic questions:
1. Can an overheated power supply shut the system down?
2. What are optimal (normal) running temps for Mac Pro's? (everyone seems to have opinions, but there doesn't appear to be a technical specification anywhere).
3. I thought the fans, especially CPU fans, were supposed to kick in when the heat rises. Why are mine staying at minimal rpm's?
Finally, does it look like I need new power supplies? Fans?
This machine was put into service in March of 2008 and has done very intensive rendering for the film industry...long nights...rendering for days sometimes. It has been retired for over a year now and is used at a lesser degree.

Other iStat reading of interest:
Power Supply 1 voltage = 12.28 V
Power Supply 1 current = 26.44 A
Power Supply 1 power = 316.75 W

Also, the Mac Pro is plugged into a small UPS.
Put your peripherals on that.
Don't share the same circuit for A/C as the Mac Pro, and put the Mac on 1300VA UPS at least.
As for all those external drives.... I'd consolidate into a good SATA case or two.
And yes in summer run with 3 of the fans up around 900 rpm.

Batch edit date & time in PSE 8 Mac/Bridge

OK, maybe it's jet lag. I uploaded all my vacation photos, and realized I had forgotten to adjust camera date/timezone. I remember that earlier versions of PSE Windows had the ability to batch adjust the date/time shot, but I can't find it in Bridge CS4 or PSE 8 Mac. I really don't want to do it manually for a few hundred photos. Is the capability hiding in there somewhere? thx

Thanks, Barbara. One of the utilities you mentioned -- PhotoInfo -- does have a very easy batch mode for date/time change. And, of course, so does iPhoto.
Unfortunately, they both run afoul of another detail: there are multiple date/time stamps stored in a JPG. iPhoto and PhotoInfo both read/write the CreateDate XMP metadata field, but Bridge and PSE appear to base "Date Created" on the value stored in the DateTimeOriginal EXIF field. I haven't tried GraphicConverter yet, nor EXIFtool, which definitely handles all timestamps but is command-line only. I have some tools on the Windows side that I'll try first.

What version of Reader are you using, and are you on Mac OS or Windows? Do you get the same error when you try to print other PDF files, or is the problem specific to one PDF?

Problem: Flash update on Mac OS 10.411

A few days ago I was prompted to update Flash Player (youtube videos had suddenly stopped playing on the old version I had) and went ahead and did it. I go through the installation process and as far as I can tell nothing goes wrong. But I still can't watch videos online and the same message is always displayed "you need to update Flash, etc."
I have Mac OS 10.411 which I guess is 64-bit. I have Safari 4.1.3. I can't update Safari any further with the current OS. I can't download newer versions of Chrome or Firefox.
What I've done so far x 10:
-run the uninstaller
-run the installer ["Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OSX 10.4-10.5 (Intel)" on the installation page]
-checked http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
to test if any older versions are still installed on the computer. Just says "missing plug-in", so I guess not.
I see under system preferences that version 10.3.183.10 is installed, which is the newest version the site gives me.

We both have Tiger installled otherwise known as os 10.4.11, as well I have safari 4.1.3 and flash 10.1 , I believe flash 10.3 will not work with OS 10.4.11 (its for a higher version of lion or leopard or something)
Make sure box in preferences advanced tab "show Develop menu in menu bar" is checked as I mentioned before and then do a 10.1 flash download in that order, I think I read flash 10.3 is too high for safari 4.1.3 and Flash 11 is definitely too advanced for Tiger, as well Tiger can not run Firefox or Chrome as a browser, thus the need to get a version of flash that works on your OS Safari version ..hope this [email protected],   FYI: You should google the error message that pops up in quotes along with your os version for good search results of any issue.

I have the same problem!
I also have mac osx 10.4.11(intel) and was asked to upgrade to the latest flash player...but when I did, suddenly couldn't load/watch any videos.
Tried the same things you did, to no avail (uninstalled and installed flash player 10.3 over and over, and still nothing)..it's as if i didn't install it when I did.
And because of my os version, can't avail of the archived flash players on this site

Why is my macbook pro suddenly runs slow on mac os X 10.6.7?

Hello..i'm using Macbook Pro running on Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz with 4 Gb of memory on Mac Os X 10.6.7. I have sufficient amount of harddisk and have already clear my cache and run disk repair. However my laptop still runs slow. It happens suddenly where i the time to boot up my comp becomes longer. Now i even have problems running applications where sometimes it just hangs there. All the programs seems to be running slow. Does not anyone having the same problem?Is it something wrong with 10.6.7?Hope anyone out there can help!Very much appreciated!

Same here, I have a 15" MBP, 2.54 ghz mid 2009 running on 10.6.7. After updating to 10.6.7 my MBP s it is very slow to start, slow when launching apps and slow with typing inside of apps. And Safari is very slow when launching a new tab our navigating to a new URL. I have cleaned font caches, made extra disk space, repaired the volume, repaired permissions all to no avail. I use to show off the MBP to my windows users but now I am just embarrassed a they ask me "what's wrong with you laptop?" I turned off a couple of cpu softwares too such as Boom and carbonite and my cpu is never above 9% with an occasional spike to 50% on some larger software launches which is infrequent for me. Disk activity seem normal too around 10 - 27% access. Any ideas would be appreciated.
