Problems saving Videos and Photos on IPHOTO (IMAC)

This is about the fourth time I've had my camera spazz out. This afternoon I downloaded my camera roll (little over 300 photos) to iPhoto and deleted the originals. Then discovered my new photos were not being saved. When I go into my camera roll to review there are just white squares.
It's extremely aggravating but I just restored and set up my Cannon Camara.
Y can t losse this material=. It' s extremely important for me. Work Stuff !!!

Here's some tips:
Patience. The people who repsond here are all volunteers giving of their time for nothing. Courtesy helps too.
Clarity: "spazz out" is not a term I recognise. Can you explain it - ideally not using slang terms. You get more help when people can understand what you're saying.
Ignore irrelevant information. How you feel about it is of no interest.

Exporting videos and photos from iPhoto

I have upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (Clean install) and downloaded the new iPhoto
but since then, when ever i try to export my videos, the program gives me Error message saying that "it can't copy the file".
and after deleting my photo library, and reuploading the photos and videos, MANY TIMES!!! i start facing a new problem:
the iPhoto was able to export the videos, but when i tried to play the videos i recieve error message "this video can't be opened"
of course i tried different programs and i got the same error; while the original files play normaly.
the other BIG problem, which i just noticed now, that iPhoto is deleting my GPS information from the photos after exporting them!!!!!
i had this MacBook Pro for a year, and i started to hate apple and MAC and I don't trust anything i do with it..
anybody can help me to fall in love with MAC again?!!?!

I decided to earse the disk, as i had so many problems with the laptop as it was extremly slow in almost everything.
and keep in mind that i only have Microsoft office 2011, and itune, iphoto, and recently i added Keynote, Numbers, Pages and ESET Cyber Security.
70% of my photos are still in an external hard drives as the original files, so i didn't backup them from the old version of iPhoto. The rest which i did back them up, i did through the Exporting option in iPhoto, using the settings as :
and that was ok, after doing the clean install of the OS, and upgrading to Mavericks, all the problems started with iPhoto.
For some reasons, iPhoto was refusing exporting the videos, and after different times of deleting the library and rebuilding it, iPhoto accepted to export the videos, unfortunately i didn't take a pitcure of the error message at that time. Now, this is what is going on:
It will export the videos and most of them they will have the icon of QuickTime, as not readable videos;

and when trying the VLC or iTune, they simply do nothing, like you never loaded any files in them.
and i have used the ! ? alot, as it was the only way to express my anger, as since i decided to by a MAC, i have never had a good easy peaceful day with it.

5230 Gallery problem: No Videos and photos

My phone is 5230. Its Gallery have no images and photos.
I ' ve used the latest platform ( V40), and tried to hard reset the phone, and did some other ways, such as deleting files on Private folder as guided, but the result is zero.
The search engine have the same problem. It can't find out any files of images, videos.
Someone can help me. Thank you.

About the photos yeah i did that sorry i hadnt even tried when i posted that, but as for videos, i got them onto my iTunes library fine, they're in the videos file but they're not going onto my iPod. Before i just had a few futurama episodes and when i updated the iPod it ignored them completely, then i added some home movies which play on quicktime fine, and now when i update my iPod it says among the numerous windows (such as 'loser' etc. could not be added because the file could not be found) that 'car' (a home movie) and other music or video files could not be added to your iPod because they cannot be played on your iPod followed by a help link : http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n301461 which talked about the need to edit movies with Quicktime Pro 7 or iMovie. I havent got either as i'm using windows, so therefore have no idea how i'm supposed to do this. I still don't understand, because surely if they go happily on my iTunes they should be updated to my iPod? Any suggestions?

The correct format to export videos and photos from iphoto to desktop

I need to export all photos/videos from iphoto to desktop and make a dvd.I learned that videos must be exported in "original" in order to actually see them on my desktop.But should I choose "original" format when exporting photos as well?I wanted to select=file=original for all together(making one big dvd), but will I be saving my photos wrongly?Should photos be saved in jpeg or another given choice?I just want to have everything finally saved on a dvd for keepers sake and finally go develop my photos.

Set the Kind to Jpeg
Then the Quality to to High
And that will be good quality

Unnamed Video and Photos in iPhoto '11

I am trying to clear all the unnamed items using iPhoto '11 but am running into a problem.
I have several photos and videos that show up as having unnamed items (Smart List settings where Faces = "unnamed") but when I access these photos and videos, there is no Faces box available to apply a name.
I have made sure that the photos are not cropped and are in the original state but still there is no unnamed box available. Does anyone know why iPhoto considers some photos to have unnamed faces but does not have any unnamed boxes in the associated photos?
For the video, I suspect from reading the forum that this might be an unnamed field held over from iPhoto '09 which apparently created a .jpeg placeholder for video in order to use the Faces feature with video. But, then this would apply to that .jpeg which shouldn't be around anymore. Has anyone seen this and, more importantly, figured out how to fix it?

The reason iPhoto 09 was able to apply faces to a video was because iPhoto created a jpg file of the video's first frame to use as the thumbnail. The faces were applied to that thumbnail.
iPhoto 11 no longer lets us use that thumbnail image for assigning faces. It wasn't accurate since it only represents the first frame of the movie.

Hi, I am having trouble importing media from iphoto into imove (imovie 10.5)
I am using a macbook pro 13 inch, early 2013 running mavericks.
I have created an event in imovies into which I would like to import both photos and videos from my iphoto library. However, when the import window opens, the list of options from where I can import has iphoto, but it is not clickable; I can not open it.
I have successfully imported from iphoto in the recent past on the same computer, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong this time.

How to store videos and photos in external storage

Hi,
May I know how do I store videos and photos into an external hard disk so that I can free up my Macbook storage?

Yes there are problems with this
A. external Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to be used for VIDEO as KLAUS1 writes.
B. a FireWire or Thunderbolt one is better than USB/USB2 as they performs badly to me especially when filling up.
C. DO NEVER - move or alter any folders named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder as this will break the connection to iMovie
ONLY move Event's and Project's from within iMovie Application !
D. Then the BIG problem - as I have no answer to - Video and Photos in iPhoto or Aperture.
Moving them to an external hard disk - and at least MY iMovie can not see them any more - resulting in broken Project's - most probably beyond repair.

I've never done it with videos on iPhoto, so I'm not sure. You can certainly do it in iMovie.
Do you want it to play on a DVD player? If so, you'll need a DVD authoring program like iDVD. Older Macs shipped with iDVD, likely on a separate iLife '11 disk. Recently, Apple stopped bundling iDVD. If you have iDVD, once you finish the slideshow in either iPhoto or iMovie, Share it to iDVD. From there, you can pick a theme and add menus and such.

Your problem is that she used your icloud ID to connect to icloud and thus had all your data synced to her device. Contacts are not saved in a backup to icloud, since they are stored independently in the Contacts section of icloud. If someone deletes them, they are gone. If you had them on the PC would they be available in some backup you frequently make of the PC?

How do I create a platform that will allow for uploads of videos and photos to allow the creation of custom slideshows?

I built a System Message HTA for my previous employer that was used in a computer lab setting. It was a nice way to inform the users about things happening in the lab, as well as a nice way to ensure people knew who to contact if there were problems.
The HTA lived on a network UNC and each computer had a shortcut to the HTA in their All Users Startup folder (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup). While you could push the shortcut with GPP, likes the others recommended, that's
about all you should do with Group Policy. This was neat - I had the HTA run custom .cmd files (in a hidden window) when it loaded (the Windows_onLoad subroutine) and then when it was closed by the user (button press that called an ExitProgram subroutine).
This allow me to capture who was logged on, how long the HTA was open, and what computer they were using. In a computer lab such as that one, it was nice to have additional way to track who was using what computer and when. Good luck and let us know if there

Hi Catflow and welcome to Apple Support.
So it kind of depends on how intensive your editing will be, especially videos. A professional video editor will have multiple monitors and the fastest possible Mac. I knew a video editor in Chicago who ran with 5 36" Cinema Monitors and an 8 Core Mac Pro.
A photo editor will have the largest possible monitor and processor speed would be less critical. I had a client who was a professional photographer. She wanted to buy an iMac. I told her she needed a Mac Pro with two Cinema Monitors. Later she thanked me because she said, "The clients see my pictures on those two huge monitors and they are immediately sold."
So if you want to stay with a laptop get the largest display you can with the max memory and maybe even a SSD. You could also use a smaller more portable model with an external display.
I put 8GB RAM and a SSD in this early 2011 13" MacBook Pro. Photoshop CS6 opens in 3 seconds vrs. 45 before the upgrade! I don't do a lot of photo editing. If I did and have done I'd use my Wife's Mini with the 23" Cinema display or my Daughter's iMac i5 with the 21.5" display!

Transfer hd video and photos from dslr

I have a Canon T3i DSLR that i shoot pics and HD video with. I travel alot and need to edit my photos and videos on the road. Even tho i have a first gen ipad which i LOVE....it's not great for photos, and i cant edit videos at all. So i am thinking of getting one of the new macbook airs that just came out today.
I WOULD go for the 11" high end model with 4G ram and 256 SSD flash drive.....but the only thing making me pause and think about the larger 13" version is that the 11" doesn't have an SD card slot.
I know i can get an external USB card reader and hook it up to the 11"....but would that be ALOT slower than transfering video and Photos on the 13" macook air by popping in the SD card into the slot? The new models both have thunderbolt....will thunderbolt SD card readers come out eventually?
If the ipad 2 transfered and edited HD video and photos, I'd nab that. But it doesn't.
If the 11" macbook air had an SD card slot, I'd nab that....but it doesn't.
ARGH! **** you Apple!!! Lol.
Even tho i have a big 65L Osprey backpack for travelling, I'd still like to pack as light as i can, since i will be treking all over the world. Cant check my backpack, but i have a smaller daypack for carry on to hold my camera and laptop.
The 13" and 11" macbook airs are both the same thickness. The 13" is only 1" wider and 1.5" deeper than the 11". So not TOO much bigger. The 13" is 2.9lbs while the 11" is 2.3lbs...so not a HUGE difference in weight.
So i guess it comes down to the SD card slot issue. Does anybody have experience with transfering video and photos to the 11" thru an external card reader? And if so, is the internal SD slot on the 13" ALOT faster when transfering? Or about the same? And lastly will thunderbolt card readers become available in the future u think?

Good to know that I am not the only one thinking about this. I currently have an 11" MBA. When purchasing I considered getting the 13" just because it had the SD card. However, smaller was more important to me. I have a canon 60D and I have transferred images using an external card reader and through a direct link to the camera - at the moment, neither are spectacular. I have also used a the SD card reader built into the iMac's - but even that appears slow with a 32Gb SDHC extreme card. I am hoping that the thunderbolt technology will lead to SD card readers - firewire and USB 3 have and since thunderbolt's transfer rates are ridiculous fast, taking advantage of it would appear obvious. However for the near term, I am looking into faster USB SD card readers. The best website that compares these, with every popular sd card imaginable, and on a Mac (as well as windows) is:
