This is a user supported frum, so making threats really doesn't help, besides which it's not like any of us can really make a dent in Toshiba's bottom line despite how many people we think we can influence. Unless those people were standing in line to buy a Toshiba product cash in hand, and you pulled them out, it really doesn't add up for them.
At this point it would probably be better for you to use the 800 number. Have all your e-mails ready to forward, if needed, to whoever you end up talking to. Don;t let them off the hook. An hour on the phone is much better than weeks passing e-mails through a support site. Also contest the charge with your bank or credit card.

  • Itunes problems with new nano, purchased songs

Hello all. I am having a few problems with my itunes and newly purchased nano that hopefully you guys can give me some advice on. First of all, when i plug in my nano, it does not recognize it unless i close itunes and reopen it. Then, it takes a few minutes to open and acts like it is a new nano every time i open it. Meaning, it asks me to name the nano and asks me to apply all the settings etc. After that it works. I then can eject it. If I then re open itunes, with my nano not plugged in, itunes thinks that my nano is plugged in and says its corrupted. If i attempt to do anything in itunes, it freezes up.
In an unrelated problem, i am forced to authorize my computer to play my purchased songs every time i open itunes. It never remembers when I authorize it.
Thanks in advance for your help i definitely appreciate it!

OK, could not resist. I did go ahead and put my old run history back into the new & now restored Nano. No problems. Everything is fine. (Be remember, this is not something that is supported or approved by Apple or Nike.)
There may be no connection between adding the old run data files to the new Nano and the sound & freezing problems. Others have already complained about those.
However, what I will say is that you should never mess around with the Nike+ xml "Preferences" file or the "Best" file. These are invisible for a reason. You can put your old xml run data files into your "latest" folder and thus get them on your new Nano, but you CANNOT change your Totals on your new Nano no matter what you muck around with. However, if you try it and things go wrong, doing a "restore" should save the day.
And it should save the day for sound problems and recurring Nano freezes unless you have a defective Nano.

  • Charging problem in ipod nano

    Hi Sir,
I have purchased ipod nano in February month 2011.
I am facing Charging problem in ipod nano. My ipod is getting heated and Charging is not going on. It looks all other function are working fine.
I had some problem in ipod So it was in recovery mode. I have used restore option from iTunes . After that i am facing this issue.
Is there any issue in restore software?
    Regards and Thanks,
    Anil

You are still under warranty.  Just take the iPod to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Charging problems with 2gb nano

I have two ipod's and my nano will not charge when connected to my computer. It does charge however, when I connect it to my ac adapter but it gives me a weird plug icon on top of the battery icon. The only time I have seen this before is when the battery is fully charged. I know the battery is not fully charged because it only lasts a few hours and then gives me the "ipod is out of battery power" message. Any suggestions?

I had a problem with my nano,it wouldn't turn on so I reset it and held dowm the menu button and it turned on but now the only way it will turn on is if I reset it and hold the menu button down after the apple logo appears but no buttons are broken.Did you find a solution as to why it doesn't turn on after you get the apple logo? It would be appreciated. thx

i Don't actually mean when you put it In the phone. I mean when you try to take the slot out of the phone with the pin. As soon as I pulled it out it bent.
That makes less sense as the sim tray a fairly stiff metal and should be pulled straight out once released. You didn't answer the question about where is was bought. Is is a real iPhone?

  • Start-Up problems in Zen Nano 51

Greetings... I just bought?3 Zen?Nano players 2 months ago, everything was working perfectly but now I'm having problems with one of them, when I press the play button to power on my player, the screen shows the Creative logo but immediately it turns off, I've tried to format the player but when I connect it to the PC, the player indeed?appears as?a removeble dri've?in My PC but when I try to explore it, a message appears that says something about like: ...the device cannot be opened due to an I/O error... I'm using XP SP2, and I have tried to format the zen even in safe mode but no response at all, every time the player is detected but the system is unable to open it. I really hope that you can help me. Is there a way to reset physically this player?, I'm going to try updating the firmware but if the system isn?t able to access the device maybe this couldn?t be possible. I expect any comments about my problem, thanks again and have an excellent day. Regards.

    I would try [url="http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=23&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK =&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+52MB&Product_ID=58&modelnumber=&driv erlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=29&y=8">reloading the Nano's firmware.[/url]
    Notes:
    * This firmware only works with Creative ZEN Nano players. Do not install this firmware for other players.
    * You will lose all content in your player when you install the firmware. Back up any audio or data files in your player to your computer before installing the firmware!
    * To install this firmware, do the following:
. Download the ZENNano_PCFW_LF__2_03.exe file into your local hard disk.
    2. Make sure your player is connected to your computer.
    3. Double-click the downloaded file.
    4. If you are prompted to reset your player, click OK.
    5. If the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer screen, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard.
    6. When the firmware download dialog box appears, click Start and follow the instructions on the screen.

  • Smart Playlist Song Order Problem on iPod Nano 6th G

recently i got an iPod Nano 6th G after years of using my iPod Classic 5.5G, and so far it has been a bliss actually if it wasnt for one small thing
i have a somewhat large collection of music that i have - with a few exceptions - put in one big smart playlist with the rules provided in the pic to fit my needs
on my old iPod Classic when i sync it i find it in the ipod in the same ordered that shows on my iTunes, but with my iPod Nano that is no longer the case.... even the the same playlist in my iPod have the songs in the exact order as it is in my library on iTunes, once i unblug it the play list on iPod becomes arranged alphabetically by artist and obviousely that is my problem
so if anyone could guid me to correct it or even the cause of it i'ld be very thankful

Can someone point me to a forum somewhere where I can get help with this? I'm obviously posting to the wrong place. Thanks!

  • Problems Syncing Ipod Nano

I plugged my ipod nano in like normal, and when I hit the button to sync it, it said that "songs on the ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
when i unplugged my ipod, all of the songs were gone, but they were still in the itunes library on the computer...
    please help! thanks! :]

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Problems with iPod Nano 6th Gen Playback & Updating

Hi. I have had a look and can't find another post on this - apologies if I have missed it!
My problems start before I purchased my new Nano 16GB last week.
When the last update of iTunes came available, I was unable to install it. The task bar would get to about 50% (although it varied) and would then time out. When I had this problem I tried everything from every forum imaginable, from deleting all Temp files, disabling the firewall and all start up applications and clearing the registry – everything. Nothing worked. Eventually I decided that I should uninstall, then install the new version.
After a week of the same problems trying to install iTunes, I gave up and downloaded on another computer, and saved the .exe file to a USB stick. This worked until two days after I downloaded it, yet another update came out and I had to start all over again (I didn’t – I am running on 10.1.2.17 still).
I was concerned when I purchased my new Nano that I would have problems connecting it to iTunes as I was not running the new version – but it was okay. Unfortunately, the iPod requires update 1.1 and I am also having the same problem with this – I get time out error 3259 after sometime trying to download it. And yes, I have tried all the same tricks, but nothing seems to work.
I am running Vista on a Dell PC, and connect to the internet on a pre-pay internet USB dongle. I can download updates for other programmes, and other files successfully – it is only iTunes that I am having an issue with. ITunes is added to my list of accepted programmes on my firewall, but I disable that when I am downloading.
Meanwhile! My new iPod is fantastic. Unfortunately I am experiencing an odd problem with it, and cannot seem to find other people with the same issue. The memory is not overloaded (it has 1.10GB of free space on it). I have 1857 tracks on it, and 14 podcasts. I play the music files through the ‘Songs’ menu, on Shuffle mode. For some reason, after playing one or two tracks, it doesn’t seem to want to play the next one. The track will be displayed on the screen, but it does not play. When you look at the song progress bar, it shows that it is part way through the song, but it is not moving. I have tried pressing ‘Pause’ followed by ‘Play’ and nothing happens.
The only way to get it to start playing again is to skip to the next track, but even this has its issues. Sometimes, when you skip forward a track, it plays a completely different track to the one that is displayed. When you look at the progress bar for the song it is showing, it isn’t moving, but music is still coming out!
Does anyone have any idea what the issue is, and how I can get the machine to play continuously without having to handle it several times? Please?!

    Hi dianak22!
I have an article here that can help you troubleshoot to resolve this issue:

  • Small problem with the Nano 6G, and run workouts

Hello! I have sensor Nike IPod Sport Kit, which is in the new Nano 6G is not needed, because the accelerometer (pedometer) is built into the player and is suitable for running. But buying a heart rate monitor transmitter i is upset that it should only be used with the sensor in the shoe. Because when I connect the transmitter Nike to player Nano 6G, and then connected transmitter heart rate monitor and want to start training, the player Nano 6G is looking sensor in the sneaker, although it could well do without him. Request to developers Apple fix this problem so that you can use the transmitter heart rate monitor with built-in accelerometer in the player Nano 6G.
Sorry for the google-translator. Regards, Alex.

Alex, exactly what I was looking for...
I tryed to get info from Apple and Nike support but seems nobody knows what I'm tolking about.
I hope Apple will fix it on 6th G even if they'll launch the 7th G.

  • Problem with my nano

I hope it's not inappropriate to ask here, but I wanted to get some info on if my ipod can be fixed before I just restore the whole thing.
When I downloaded an ipod update, it asked me to register my ipod, although I already had. I re-registered it anyway and I lost all my music (but not my photos). Currently my nano only says I have 5 songs on it. They total less than 3 megs. When I connect my ipod to itunes though, it shows that I have no space left on my ipod. It's as though the songs are taking up space, but not there. I've searched for them too, and nope, they are all gone. Why did this happen and what can I do?
Any help is VERY much appreciated!

I am not sure if this is the same as what is happening with you but I found that when I took the space between songs down to the minimum, there only had to be a small pause in a song for my Nano to think that it was the end of a track and shuffle to the next one.
This may be your problem as well.
    Alison.

  • Volume problems on my Nano 8 GB

I tried everything to get the volume of my Nano 8 GB to a decent value, but all my efforts have been unsuccessful and I still hardly hear artists like Iron Maiden and Metallica when walking outdoors.
    Here is what I tried:
    -I checked the volume of my MP3s, but they were all fine on the PC;
    -I reset the memory of the iPod twice;
    -I tried to put +100% volume on every song using iTunes;
    -I tried to search a program so as to unlock the volume limitations on european iPod (I'm in Italy and here there are no laws that limit the volume of portable MP3s readers in any way), but they weren't compatible with Nano 2G;
-I tried to exchange the headset with a friend of mine who has got a Nano 1G with a decent volume: he was hearing fine with mine and I was hearing at the same (low) volume with his.
-I triend to send my Nano to the Support, but after one month they sent it back to me saying there's no hardware problem and suggesting to check my headset.
I don't really know what to do and even what to think, since I'm still sure it's a hardware problem, but I'd rather avoid to send it again to the Support, since they'll probably tell me the same they did. Any idea?

All iPods sold within the EU countries have a volume cap on them that makes the max volume lower than the ones sold in non-EU countries. At this time there is no way to remove the cap. So Apple was correct when they sent your iPod back staying there was nothing wrong with it. If you do a search on this issue on this forum you will find threads discussing this issue at length. You can also google the topic and find articles and other discussion forums about it. There isn't much you can do at this point except either try and get one that is sold outside of the EU or wait until a "hack" is created to remove the cap. The current ones do not work for the 2nd gen nano's at this time.
