Problems with black color creating PDF from Excel 2013

Hi
I want to create PDF from Excel 2013 using Adobe Acrobat distiller. When I do so I have problem with black which is 300 percent black instead of 100K. Problem is only with drawed lines from Excel's symbol menu (text is fine).
I use Acrobat 9 Pro and few days ago switched from Office 2000 to 2013.....and problems started.
Office 2000 and Acrobat 9 Pro worked ok and everything including drawed symbols like lines or squares were 100K black in PDF. Now in the case of Excel 2013 it is not so but when I use export function included in Excel and export file to PDF output is 100K. I am not sure if this kind of export is good for me. I use PDF's as inputs to InDesign. So I would like to have more control when create PDF from excel. But in Excel setup I can choose standard and minimum size and that is all.
I imported Adobe PDF Settings from computer where these settings worked with Excel 2010 but they do not do same job for me in combination with Excel 2013 (I have 300 black).
To explain my workflow:
I am a publisher of crossword magazine and I use Excel to write crosswords. Then I create PDF's and import them into InDesign.
Should I use internal export included in Excel 2013? Are these PDF's ok for working in InDesign and finally for print purposes?
Or If you have any suggestion how to create PDF via Adobe Acrobat distiller setup (which I prefer) please give me advice.
Thank you in advance
Juraj

These are tough issues I suspect and the answer you need is probably trivial (it is finding it). I will make some suggestions, but I have no idea if any will work.
-  In the printer under the Properties>Layout>Advanced>print quality, I use 300 dpi (default is 1200).
- Under the printer preferences>settings>edit the settings file, I use again 300 dpi (default is 1200 dpi).
These may not fix your issue, but migth be worth a try. You could also try using the preflight script to change to gray-scale. It may not make any changes, but again may be worth a try.
All I am trying to suggest are the things I would be looking at. Maybe they will lead you someplace. Others may be by with better suggestions in time.

  • Page size error when creating PDF from Excel 2013

    Hello,
I am using Acrobat Pro XI, and am creating a PDF from Excel 2013.  I have updated Acrobat to the latest version (11.0.4).  I am using the Acrobat CreatePDF add-in inside Excel to convert a spreadsheet to PDF.  However, when I create the PDF, the page size doubles from 8.5" x 11" to 17" x 22".  I have checked the print settings inside Excel to insure that the content fits onto an 8.5" x 11" page.  I also checked the Preferences->Advanced Preferences of the Create PDF add-in and confirmed that the default page size is set to 8.5" x 11".  Does anyone know why it is creating the PDF with a 17" x 22" page size?  Also, can the page be resized back down to 8.5" x 11" within Acrobat Pro XI?

Hello - this did not happen when I printed the file to the Adobe PDF printer.  It correctly sized the sheet as 8.5" x 11".  Thanks for the suggestion.  Also, it will properly print out to the physical printer.
The main problem is when I am combining several PDFs into one document, I have some sheets sized at 8.5" x 11" and some at 17" x 22", so the document looks strange when viewing it online.  I am still not sure why the Create PDF add-in creates a different sized PDF than the Print to PDF function.

  • Incorrect page size when creating PDF from Excel 2013 (export and print)

I am in the USA so everything tends to default to 8½"x11" ... but I created a document in Excel with A size settings. I have attempted to export it to PDF with every setting I can find set to A4 and I have attempted to print the document to PDF again with every setting I can find set to A4 (page size, layout - advanced - paper/output - paper size - A4) with all scaling turned off and yet when I open the finished document in Acrobat XI Pro (with all updates installed) the document properties lists it as 8½"x11". I don't see any resize document settings in Acrobat or any other reason it would be anything but A4 in Acrobat's settings, and I've even had someone in our design department that uses Acrobat extensively look at my steps and they don't see where I'm making any mistakes.
Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Notice in the illustration the button Page setup.
Click on that and see if you can set printer from there.
I don't know whether this is in the PC version.
This is an adobe dumb idea inserting a Print menu in between a print menu and the printer, and not allowing the Printer to do the control Setup itself.
One of them ideas that came up when a developer was sitting around twidling his thumbs, and saying hey lets do this.  Another idea That comes along with this, is the inserted property feature called simplex printing. If you want to print a PDF duplex you can setin printer till cows come home and you blue in the face. Won't print Duplex.  You have to Click Propties and Locate the command simplex, and turn off.

  • Acrobat X Pro - create PDF from Excel with no margins...ARGH!

    Hello all,
Does anyone know if it's possible to create a PDF from a selection of Excel cells without a margin appearing on the PDF file? Even if I set the print margins (print to Adobe PDF) to zero, Acrobat still puts in margins in the PDF. The background of the Excel file is black (as specified by my manager), and he wants black all the way to the edges of the PDF page.
I have to submit this weekly, and as it's several pages long I don't want to be faffing about with the crop tool each Monday morning (it already takes long enough to source the data). The current solution I have been given is to create a template in Powerpoint (HATE) and link the cells/graphs, but and paste any text boxes, and then convert from Powerpoint to PDF, as no margins are imposed this way.I know cropping would be quicker than this, but surely in this day and age it's easily possible and there's just some simple option I'm just missing?
    Regards,
    George

I have the same setup with Win 7 and Office 2010 and have created thousands of PDF from Excel sheets, but never noticed this particular issue.  Regardless, rather than fight an issue like this where no specific documentation exists, I usually resort to other options in the interest of not getting bogged down in a maddening search for answers.
Go ahead and convert to PDF so that your links are retained, etc.  Open the resulting file in Acrobat, and use the crop tool to remove the blank margins that are at issue, either maintaining proportionality or not, depending on your needs, making sure to set the cropping tool to apply the scheme to all pages.  I'm assuming that all pages are formatted the same, such that this strategy will work.  Then, apply the cropping, and sanitize the file to remove the cropping data.  At this point, your blank margins should be completely gone, and the file can be scaled for printing if that is your objective, but that will obviously introduce some white margins again at the printer.
The only other option I'm aware of to address this from the PDF side is via a third-party plug-in from Evermap called AutoPagex.  One of its features allows you to scale a document's content to the page margins, either maintaining proportionality or not.  Without proportionality, I was able to scale an Excel sheet with black background to all but a tiny sliver of the top and bottom margins in landscape orientation.  From here, I scaled the content via an additional feature to 100.5%, and all white margins were gone.  That said, it probably just as effective to accomplish this via the crop tool, assuming the page formatting remains consistent.
Disclosure:  I have no affiliation of any kind with Evermap, but did address the use of several of their products in my book, "The PDF Litigation Guide."
    Hope that helps!

  • Creation of PDF from Excel 2013 - problem with black color

    Hi,
I am a publisher of crossword magazine and I use Excel to write crosswords. Then I create PDF's and import them into InDesign.
In past I used Adobe printer and it works fine with Excel 2000 and 2010 (only these two versions I used in past) Now I switched to Excel 2013 and when I use Adobe printer to print crosswords into PDF problem occurs with lines done in Excel (insert - shapes - line). I use black color for these lines but in PDF they appears as rich black (TIC 300%). Why it is not 100% black? I know that Excel works in RGB but in past I was always able to change settings in printer profiles (Adobe printer) to reach 100 % black without CMY colors. Now I have no idea. I attached picture of pdf how it looks in Adobe Acrobat in Outpur preview.
Thank you in advance for any advice

  • Unusual error when creating PDF from Excel

2 of my work computers started suffering from this 1 week ago in Excel 2003.
All create buttons and dropdown menus work, the creation process goes through progress bars and such.
    At the end, an error box titled Acrobat PDFMaker displays this error;
"An error occurred while saving the file. Please check if there is sufficient space in the temporary folder."
It's Acrobat 8 and its been updated to the highest level for quite a while. No settings have been changed.
Running on Windows XP Pro. PDF creation has worked fine before this.
It still works fine on Word.
The error is not on Google or here, so I assume I'm the first to ever get it!
There's at least 40 GB free on the drives. I cleared the system temp folder for kicks, but no change.
I did a generic uninstall and reinstall on one computer, reapplied updates, but error still pops up.

  • Unwanted background color creating PDf from Word 2010

I'm creating a PDF from Word 2010 using the built-in "Save as Adobe PDF" distiller. All of a sudden the created PDF has a pale yellow background, except for text boxes and images. I have no ide where the background tint came from. How do I get rid of it?

It's probably related to a transparency issue. Try selecting the background and deleting it using the editing tools - depending on what version of Acrobat you're using, you may find it easier to do this using the Content Navigation pane.

  • How to create PDF from Excel with Password Protection Using Visual Studio & Visual Basic

Could someone provide some VB code sample(s) to create a PDF file with password protection (Security Method - Password Security - Restrict Editing & Printing)?
I create a bunch of reports every week using an Excel 2010 addin that subsequently must be printed to PDF.  I then have to manually edit the properties of each document in order to apply the printing restriction.
    I'm using Acrobat X.
I've downloaded the SDK but have no idea which dll's to use or where to begin.
    Thanks!

That's surprising & disappointing.  I would have thought that this capability would have long since been requested.
    Thanks for the heads up.

  • Printer 5220 problem with Black color

I replaced my Black cartridge and the printer did not print Black. I clean the head many times already. What should I do?

    Hi @hp5220
Is there any chance you may have meant to type 5520? If so, please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.  Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. As you have a 5520, If the issue persists, I would suggest calling HP Phone Support regardless of whether it is in or out of warranty as you may require a replacement printer.

  • Problem with black in exported .pdfs

Hi all.  I'm very new to working with InDesign, so please forgive me if I don't know all of the appropriate terminology.  I had a 42 page .indd file that I exported.  The reason for exporting was so that I could then open up the pdf pages in photoshop and individually rename/resave the pages.  The text in InDesign is in 100K black.  When I open the .pdf in photoshop, the black now has a mixed CMYK value.  This is causing all manner of stress at the printers.  Is there something I need to do in .pdf exporting that will preserve to value of the black as 100K?

Aggghhhhhhh, Don't Open a PDF in Photoshop, Don't Open a PDF in Photoshop, Don't Open a PDF in Photoshop.Find a decent printer how can take a ID file...ok, ok, your using some "Put Daniel out of business online print source..."
Never mind, its all fine...it's their problem, they can trap that rich black type...rename all the pages...that's a riot, but not easy..
    1 - Acrobat>Document>Extract Pages>Ectract as Seperate Files
Hmmm, do you or the "printer" have Acrobat Standard?
It's not that I don't feel your pain, Daniel, but maybe ms. brushmistress thinks that she has a valid reason for running PDFs through PS?
Depending on what you're trying to do, brushmistress, there's probably a faster way to do it through InDesign. F'rinstance, I just Googled
indesign script save pdf as individual pages
and the first few links all looked really promising. A script to export single page as PDF, a free utility for exporting multiple pages as single files... you may want to take a look. It'll probably save you a lot of clicking time, and some printer somewhere (maybe Daniel, maybe someone else?) can breathe easier, or at the least forestall an apoplectic fit.
If that's not what you're trying to do, just ask us; there's a scary amount of InDesign workflow expertise hanging out on these forums.

  • Problem with quick printing multiple .pdfs from Outlook 2010

    Hi there,
I have a user who is having problems printing multiple .pdf's using the quick print function in Outlook. I have tried reader 9,10 and 11.
11 errors when printing (nothing specific in the error message) and only 1 or 2 documents are printed.
9 and 10 error and report that a file is missing. Yet again, often prints 1 or two of the files.
I have reproduced the problem on my own PC.
Is there some type of bug with Adobe Acrobat printing multiple files using the quick print function within Outlook?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Will

I am not very skilled in Adobe by any means, but I was having the same issue.  When I did the Control P to print, I went into Print Options, then into Properties.  Under Adobe PDF settings, I unchecked the box that said "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." and that worked for me.
    Hope it helps.

  • Having problems creating PDF from website with query-string URLs

I have a website that I would like to create a PDF from. I am using the Create -> PDF from Web Page..., selecting the site's home page, and capturing 2 levels, with "stay on same path" and "stay on same server" checked in order to limit the scope of the crawl.
Where the pages are at example.com/foo/ and example.com/foo/bar/, this works fine. However, where the pages are at example.com/foo/ and example.com/foo/?p=1, the page represented by the query string URL is not converted to the PDF.
This is a problem, given that the site I want to archive as a PDF uses query strings for most of its pages.
I have been able to individually convert a single query-string-based page into a PDF using this method, but doing this for every page on the site would be almost impossible given the sheer number of pages on the site.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround other than separately capturing each page (which would be prohibitive effort)?
I have tried this in both Acrobat Pro X and Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac, with the same results.

Remember, Acrobat is a 32-bit application and as such cannot access all that 'extra' stuff.
    Be well...

  • Problem with creating pdf from Microsoft Publisher 2013

We are having problems in creating pdfs from Microsoft Publisher2010- When the function 'Adobe PDF' is selected and 'Print' is clicked on nothing happens. The progress bar just sits there for several minutes without creating a pdf. We have to click on cancel and when this is done this crashes Microsft Publisher.
I have repaired this using the repair facility in Acrobat 9. I have also uninstalled Acrobat 9 and reinstalled this.
I have also uninstalled Adobe Reader XI and reinstalled Adobe Reader 9.
Before uninstalling Acrobat I also ran the updates but this didnt help either.
This is on a Windows 7 PC (64-bit)
    Adobe Acroabt 9 Pro Extended
    Microsoft Publisher 2010.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

MS Publisher 2010 is not supported by the Acrobat 9 Family; and the PDFMaker extension for Publisher has been removed completely from the Acrobat XI Family, so upgrading won't help either. Sorry!

  • Create PDF from webpage font color turns white

While using Create PDF from a web page the text in the final PDF is colored white so I cannot see it.  Italicized text remains black and is find.  However, the font color of standard text is turned white.  I know the text is there because I can use the text editing tool to copy the text out into notepad.  This problem occurs with Adobe Acrobat X and XI.  However, when I use Adobe Acrobat VIII there is not problem.  Furthermore, with the website I am converting to PDF the problem only happens if I try to convert the entire site, which is about 1,100 pages.  If I stop the job half way, the font color remains fine.
    Any ideas?

Under the Settings... button in the Create PDF from web page dialog, do you have the checkbox selected for "Force These Settings for All Pages"?

  • How to create black and white pdfs from autocad drawing

I am trying to create a pdf from autocad drawing with searchable text.  Using the default acad pdf driver, it will create searchable text for only TT fonts with width set to 1.0.  We use the monochrome plot settings so pdfs are all black, even if drawing was in color.
Using 'create pdf' from Acrobat Pro, Acrobat pro will create a pdf from the autocad drawing easily with all text searchable, shape fonts, TT fonts, no matter what the width.  Fantastic.  However, there is no option that I can see to create the pdf in just black and white.  It creates the pdf in drawings original colors.  How do I create a black and white pdf using acrobat pro?  Thanks.

    @gordon15
The only way to change the color of the printouts from your iPhone is through HP's free mobile app "HP ePrint Home&Biz". This is available in the App Store.
Simply download and install the app, choose a file to print from within the app, then press the icon at the bottom right of the screen that is a wrench and printer. This should then give you the option to choose the color output. Make your selection, press "Done", then press "Print."
If you are not seeing this option, you may need to setup ePrint for the printer and then register the app. This registration will also give you more functionality with the app.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
