Problems with break point in Dual Layer project

Hi,
I'm currently having a problem setting a break point in a Dual Layer DVD project in DVD Studio Pro 4. I have a project that has 5.9 GB of data (5 shows with between 7-8 chapters in each). The problem I'm having is that in the 5th chapter of the 4th show, there is a freeze frame hickup when I burn the disk. I've tried moving around the chapter mark, deleting them and re-adding them, re-exporting the media (it is in MPEG-2) in all combinations of those and am still having the freeze problem at that chapter mark. I've gone back to the original media and there are no problems there.
What I think the problem is is that the disk is automatically setting the break point for the dual layer disk at that chapter mark. However, when I go into the project and try to set the break point manually from the dropdown, I can't seem to select anything. The default is the begining of the 5th track, and I can only change it to automatic and back again. Anything else I select just goes back to that 5th track, but I still think it's actually doing automatic instead. I'm using a Verbatim DVD+R DL if that helps anything as well.
To all, do you agree that the problem is most likely due to the break point? And if so, how do I change the break point to the beginning of either the 3rd or 4th of the shows instead of having it seem to be stuck on automatic?

Alright, to answer my own question. Here's what I think the problem was.
There are actually two Disk/Volume menus: one in the Disk settings when you're actually working in the project and another when you go to build and format. I kept trying to set the break point in the first one--in the disk settings in the project--and it wouldn't let me because it can only be set when building and formatting.
It's kind of an annoying settup that there are two identical menus that don't fully communicate with each other, but in the end the solution has been solved.

Break Points for Dual Layer Discs

I've read and re-read the DVDSP4 manual on break-points. They are giving me the hardest time even still. Is there any way to by-pass the muxing process and not have to wait that long to find out if there is the correct balance of space used for each layer on the disc? IOW, is there a way to automatically check if the layers are right without choosing the "auto break point" option?

Hi Drew, when you say set a bunch of markers in the general area, what types of markers are you talking about (ie. chapter, button, dual layer break point)? I can only set one "dual layer break point", should i be able to set more than one? I'm working on this dual layer project and it is driving me nuts!

Forte for JAVA: Problems with break points

I have the following problem:
When setting breaks point within the code of my web application (servlets and JSP) the debugger does not seem to be able to find them and to stop where I would it to :o(
When approching a portion of code that I know have a break point, I get the following message in the debugger window->
Connecting to localhost.localdomain:11555
Connection established
Breakpoint reached at line ? in class org.corproware.strutsrelated.listener.DBPoolListener by thread main.
Note the interrogation mark (?) instead of a valid line number.
It looks like I have the same poroblem with a simple java "HelloWorld"
Is their something I don't get or is it a known problem?

Problem with Vanishing Point

I've got a problem using Vanishing Point filter in Photoshop CS4. When I load this filter an error message pops saying "The operation could not be completed"
I attach a screen cap of the error. Somebody can help? thanks.

I run into this problem with Vanishing Point on about a quarter of the files I run the filter on. I can initially create a grid and do one transform, but the next time I try to run the filter I get the error, "The operation could not be completed". Then the error seems to stay attached to the file. I can run the filter on another file, but even if I close and reopen the file, I still can't run the filter. Even doing Save As and renaming the file doesn't rid it of the error.
This has been the case since VP was introduced. I'm now on CS4. MacPro Dual-Core, 8GB Ram.
I've tried changing the memory allocation to 55% with no change.
I see that this has been addressed before in the Forum with no solution, Chris Cox care to wade in?
This is a potentially valuable tool if it were implemented better.

This is pretty basic, whenever you've currency & quantity fields you need to pass the corres. reference fields.
In your case you need to populate the cfieldname & ctabname fields of the FieldCat.

Dual layer DVD, help with break point

after reading alot of the previous posts on setting a dual layer break point, it seems the best way is to find the general area of where one thinks the break should be and then put in several markers in that area. My question is what type of markers to put in (ie. chapter, button highlights, dual layer break point)? Should i be able to put more than one Dual Layer break point? DVDSP is only allowing me to set ONE Layer Break Point out of the several points that i put in the area i think that the layer break should be, am i doing something wrong? Also, to avoid this whole trial and error process, can i simply do my "build" without any markers/break points and then burn the VIDEO_TS folder in Toast and let Toast find the break point? By the way, this disk will be replicated in case anyone forsees any problems with Eclipse, thanks for any help!

If after building only one marker is black (not gray) it is the only legit marker and why it is limited. The layer break will be on the DLT where it is set

Error writing dual-layer project to LaCie d2 burner

I'm trying to burn a DVD project with DVD Studio Proto a LaCie d2 Firewire DVD burner and I get this error:
Recording Device reported the error #6: Power on, reset, or bus device reset occurred ox29, 0x00.
and it happens again and again. I've tried changing the dual-layer break point, which appears to be a legal one according to everything I've read in the documentation.
What else should I look at?
Details: DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 on Power Mac G5 (Dual 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM) running OS X 10.4.7 connected to a LaCie d2 Firewire DVD Burner (Software Version: 0x10483, Spec ID: 0x609E, Firmware Revision: 0x102, Product Revision Level: LT25).
My first attempt to find an answer was to contact LaCie Technical Support but they simply passed the buck and replied with "We cannot support errors generated by 3rd party programs as they are not our product" so now I hope someone on this Apple forum can provide some answers or pointers to help me.

I'm also someone suffering from a LaCie d2 burner that doesn't correctly burn (on any size disc) when burning Video_TS files to DVD.
LaCie insists that there is nothing wrong with the machine when they test it, but I've tried on G5 desktop and G4 Powerbook, using DVDSP 4.0.3 and Toast 7, and whilst it burns, it will not verify, or (more importantly) will not play back the videos without major stuttering. I have done the firmware upgrade, and have the latest LaCie software from the website.
Is there anyone out there who can verify that they have a LaCie d2 which burns Video_TS DVDs using DVDSP 4 AND the latest version of the OS, viz. 10.4.7.... please?

They insisted on passing the buck. So I tossed the
LaCie drive aside and purchased a Plextor PX-750UF
drive. So far I've burned 10 DVD+R DL disks (masters
for two replicated DVD-9 projects) with it using DVD
Studio Pro and I'm very happy. The LaCie has the
advantage of a pretty aluminum case. The Plextor has
the advantage that it works.

DVDSP4 quits unexpectedly when building a dual layer project to .img file

I'm about to make several copies of a dual layer DVDSP project. Building and burning within DVDSP works fine. But when choosing to make an .img, DVDSP4 crasches. Any ideas?
I'm trying to make an .img, mount it and in Toast make copies from the mounted VIDEO_TS folder.
Problem solved. Deleted the build folder, re-builded the project and then I went into Format/Build and re-builded the project once again, now with .img as output target.

Did make it work.

How do you set up the tracks, Dual Layer project

I have a dual layer disc and project.
The breakpoint will be in the middle of one of the programms. But i don't want that.
Now i want to had a 'hidden' track on layer 0 (so it becomes larger than layer 1)
But how does dvdsp4 calculate whitch tracks goes on what layer?
I've tried to put the hidden track in the outline between track 1 and track 2. But watching dvdsp4 muxing he doesn't put the hidding track between track 1 and 2, but totally at the end.
p.s. the hidden means it doens't have a button on the menu, so it isn't acceseble for people. it's just there to make layer 0 larger than layer 1.

Since you are using DVD SP 4 go to the VTS view in the outline tab. (Press F3 Key, click on outline view, and you will icon at top right in that section [still of left side of the screen] where you can toggle the screen from the list you see to somehting that will list VTS) A pciture of what I am describing is on Pg 589 of the PDF manual.
Drag the "Hidden" so that it is between the VTS for track 1 andd tracks2 (and make sure that there are markers on it (a few at least) so that (hopefully) there should be a layer break in there.

Problem with inifile.c in CVI 2010 project

I upgraded to CVI 2010 today. I was using 2009. In my project I have included inifile.c in my project. The file is located in the CVI2010 toolbox directory. I used this in CVI 2009 and did not have a problem. When I compile I get a bunch of link errors "Undefined symbol". Some of the symbols it has a problem with are ConvertDataToText, AppendString, StrDup, FileExists, ... there are many more.
My question is why are these linking errors coming up in CVI 2010?
I would imagine I need to add another source file to my project or something like that.

It's true that using .FPs is the best way to go.
As I told you, an instrument driver can be loaded in Instrument menu
or in the Library menu. If loaded in Intrument menu, to have it loaded
automatically when you open a project you must add the .fp to the
project itself; operating this way, every time you open a project it
will recompile the instrument, which can be annoying and is a waste of
time. On the other hand, if the instrument has an object file (which is
the case of IniFile and all instruments shipped with CVI) you can load
it in the library menu (Library >> Customize and add it to the
list) and have it ready for use with no time spent on it.
I personally have loaded in the library collection a set of
general-use instrument that I happen to use in almost all my projects
(IniFile, Programmer's Toolbox, Password control and a library with my
own utilities) and only use the instrument menu for instruments very
specific to one or a few projects (e.g. the driver for some external
device I use in a project)

Problem with multiple output for software simulated project

When a software simulated project in captivate is published more than thrice, the output is not generated properly, i.e not in-line with the project. Is this a problem with my system or due to some settings in captivate which is not activated?

They're very handy app's for sure, but unfortunately they didn't fix the problem.
Detour DID overide the routing for iChat's general bleeps & noises, but not the audio stream from video conferences (which is the problem I want to fix).
If anyone has any other suggestions for fixes, I'd appreciate it!

Are you saying you can get it to boot from the install disks but not the Hard drive?
Startup holding down the "C" key on the keyboard. Get to the Utilities folder and use Disk Utilities on the hard drive. Let it fix what ever it finds. Then run permission repair from Disk Utilities. Then go to the install screen (it will come up when you quit disk utilities.
Then
!) If you have nothing on the Hard drive: do a clean install of the system software. Use the option that writes zeroes on the disk as it's formatting (it will block out any bad sectors) then complete the install.
2) If you have anything on the disk back it up to an external disk if you can. Instead of doing a clean install try an archive and install.

Problem with the progress line in MS Project

Hi there,
I have a question about the progress line in MS Project.
My boss asked me to see how far we were with the work, so I inserted the column '% Complete' and then the progress line.
Now my boss has a problem with the layout and I don't know how the fix it. The problem is at line 43 and 44, where the progress line indicates that we are behind on that group of tasks. But is it possible for the progress line to not indicate it on lines
43 and 44 but only on lines 45 to 50? So my question is if it's possible to make the progress line go down (vertically) over line 43 and 44 instead of jumping to the back?
It would be much more simple if I could insert lines 43 ad 44 as text but not as a task, so that it just counts as a title of some tasks but nothing more than that. Is that possible in Project?
(Lines 45 to 50 are subtasks for line 44, and 44 is a subtask for 43. So line 43 is the main task.)
Normally there was a picture here but I couldn't upload it because my account is not yet verified... So hopefully you can understand the problem with the text.
If anyone could give my some advice or the solution, that would be great!

Basically your activity 43 is late because the sub tasks are also late. Thus MS Project shows the situation by moving the progress line backward. The progress line is automatically displayed based on your project progress, there is no way to manually change
it unless you update your project.
I think the question is not there. This is more a matter of project governance and transparency: why not showin that a project is late when it is late and taking the appropriate corrective actions?

Problem with Black Point adjustment

When making Black Point adjustments (with hot and cold highlights enabled) my photos suddenly turn completely blue. If I hold click the slider button, I can see the photo again as expected.
I also notice this histogram is empty.
I have the same problem with both my Nvidia and Radeon graphics cards.
This problem has started since my upgrade to 10.5.7
Has anyone else experience this? ...am I doing something wrong?

I think I have found the problem. For some reason the Black Point values were incrementing in much higher values than before.

Problem with Access Point app

Yesterday I experienced a problem with my internet sharing where it wouldn't start and gave me an error: Connection not shared, Internet sharing isn't currently available
. I ran across an article on wpcentral.com where they suggested installing the Access Point app from this thread:

Now I've done that and I see 3 profiles in the app, only 2 are LTE. Activating either of those LTE profiles now gets me an error when trying to internet share that looks like this: Connection not shared, To enable tethering on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611. When I use the 3g access point profile I get the same message I was getting yesterday.
At this point I don't think this app is doing anything for me. I dont' use multiple sims, I'm not a world traveller. I also don't know which profile I should be on. I'm clearly in over my head and would like to just take a step back. However, I can't see a way to uninstall the app as it's now in settings. How do I get myself back to where I was yesterday?
And for bonus points, does anybody know what the original error I was getting means?

Hi Adrian,
Yes, I've tried a soft reset to no avail. I've gone to both the AT&T store and the Microsoft store and neither of them have any thoughts on what's going on. At this point I think I will need to replace the hardware since I've not found a solution from anyone.
