GMail works just fine in Mail 6 here. In what way is it not working there? As to your Canon scanner, that is a Canon issue. If Canon has opted not to update their software, you can remove it and try scanning directly from Image Capture instead.
Regarding downgrading, unless you have a backup made right before installing ML, it's not an easy task. You would have to erase the hard drive, reinstall the previous system, reinstall all your apps and then import data from somewhere. And some data formats have changed - Mail, for example, has had slight changes to its mailboxes in both the last two major system upgrades. The only way to import messages that aren't still stored on the server into an older version of Mail is one at a time.

    Hello,
Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
    You may have multiple entries.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Connection Problems with iMAP and Mail in Mountain Lion

    Hi everybody,
since the Update on Mountain Lion I am having the following problem:
When my iMac wakes up after some time, Mail isn't working anymore by showing the triangle with the exclamation mark. By clicking on it it shows the following picture (sorry for being in german). What you see is, that the internet connection works fine but Mail says it cannot connect to the iCloud iMAP Server. I should check if iCloud supports SSL and if it does not, deactivate it...
After closing Mail an reopening it again, everything works fine until the next episode of waking up...
    Any hints??
    Thanks!!
    Stefan

If you do, I highly recommend wiping the harddrive and doing a clean
install. An upgrade install, especially from two versions back is going
to be nothing short of a crapshoot.
Deactivate any software before doing so.

  • Problems with Sinn7 Audio USB Interface on Mountain Lion

    Hi Guys.
I have problems with my USB Audio Interface Sinn7 Status 24/96 on Mountain Lion system.
When i istalled drivers, system doesn't detect the card. After the system reboot, when i pluck the card in to usb, system makes a kernel panic.
My hardware: MacBook Pro 15'' Late 2011 / OS X Mountain Lion / Audio Interface: Sinn7 Status 24/96.

    Hey DSevenPL,
Have you sorted this issue yet? I'm having the same problem on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro.
I had been running the sound card earlier on the same machine that you have (late 2011) w/out a problem but then got the new machine and it wouldn't read the sound card. Same issues as you.
Months of searching has turned up with nothing (and Sinn is unresponsive) so any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  • Problem with Finder and Menu Fonts (uppercase A)

    Hello --
I'm having a problem with fonts. All the characters that appear under icons in the Finder or in the menu for any application appear as uppercase As with boxes around them. There appears to be one uppercase A for each character that should be there. If I click-pause-click to edit the filename in the Finder, the text appears normal during the duration of the change, and then reverts to uppercase A with a box around it again. All other operation of the computer is normal.
I was watching and downloading video files in iTunes when the problem appeared. When I pressed ESC to exit full-screen mode, the Finder said that my start-up disk was almost full, and I saw the font problem. Upon investigating, I discovered that my start-up disk was completely full (and the download had failed), so the first thing I did was move some video files to an external drive, which freed about 5 GB.
Since freeing the space, I've tried the following to fix it, in this order:
    1. booted from Tiger CD to run Repair Disk from Disk Utility
    2. rebooted from the boot hard drive to run Repair Disk Permissions from Disk Utility
    3. run through Disk Warrior
    4. created a test admin user and logged in as that user
    5. removed font cache files using terminal
    6. booted in safe mode, logged in as myself, and then rebooted normally
None of these actions has had any effect. The computer is still operating normally, except for the characters that don't display correctly.
I'm running 10.4.6 on a Titanium Powerbook 500 MHz with 512MB RAM. A few months ago, I replaced the internal hard drive with an 80GB Seagate.

    Hi again, zoobieboots —
I appreciate your initiating a new thread. Your post here helps to make the situation much clearer than in bmewolf's thread — particularly in terms of what you've already tried. Thanks again.
    A few initial thoughts —
        (a) As I was trying to suggest previously, you're apparently operating (after moving some files to an external drive) with ~6-10% (?) free disk space. Particularly given that you were working with large video files when this appeared, File fragmentation would be expected. While I haven't heard of this particular symptom resulting from fragmentation, that would be a concern to me — particularly since this immediately preceded the problematic behavior.
I've read some good reports about iDefrag, but haven't used it myself. A demo version is apparently available for HDs < 100GB. But you'd presumably need to free significantly more space first (you haven't actually said whether 5GB or ?? is the total available now). Having never experienced severe fragmentation, I don't fully understand its consequences — but another participant may be able to explain this.
<b>(b) You don't mention trying to troubleshoot potentially corrupt or incompatible fonts (or font caches), also as outlined in the other thread. As I suggested there, The X Lab's "undoing Font Book" FAQ is a useful resource in this.
        (c) Although I agree it may be an unsatisfying "solution," an Archive & Install did work for bmewolf in the case that you've indicated matches yours closely.
I hope one of these suggestions is helpful. Please post back to discuss your progress.

  • Problem with UWC and Mail Filters

    Hello,
We recently upgraded from ims5.2 to JES 2005Q4. With have patch -23 installed for UWC and patch -53 installed for the messaging server. Everything is going pretty well except we are having a problem with the mail filters in UWC. It seems that after a short time ( couple hours) the page stops displaying correctly. That is the buttons for example say new button instead of just new. When you click on the new button, you get a application 9 error. We have the java heap set to 1.5 gb and the webserver between .5 and 3% of the CPU. Response is great for all other pages.
Does anybody have any ideas? I have had a case open with Tech support since Last Monday, but still waiting for an answer, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • Dumb Q: problem with Find And Replace window in Flash 8

    Dear Flash Group,
apologies if this is trivial, it's my first day using Flash.
I downloaded a Flash project from
    http://www.flashorb.com/articles/benchmark_files/flash-benchmark.zip.
    This
flash calls into a web service at localhost:8080. I used the
    'Find and
Replace' window within Flash Professional 8 to locate the
    string
'localhost:8080' and replaced it with plain 'localhost'.
However, when I 'Debug the Movie' (Ctrl-Shift-Enter), it
    still tries to
access port 8080! Obsiously, my replace command did not do
    what I thought it
would do. I opened the FLA file in a binary editor, and saw 4
    more
references to 8080, One if them in 'Properties' of a
    WebServicesConnector,
but I cannot figure out how to find the other occurences.
Checking on google, I see lots of people having similar
    problems, but no
    solutions
    Any ideas?
    Regards, /george
PS. What do you guys do for code completion - is there a tool
    that would
bring Flash on par with an professional IDE?

    george,
    > when I 'Debug the Movie' (Ctrl-Shift-Enter), it still
    > tries to access port 8080! Obsiously, my replace
    > command did not do what I thought it would do.
    Agreed.
    > I opened the FLA file in a binary editor, and saw 4
    > more references to 8080, One if them in 'Properties'
    > of a WebServicesConnector, but I cannot figure out
    > how to find the other occurences.
Might they be the result of that WebServicesConnector
    reference?
    > Checking on google, I see lots of people having
    > similar problems, but no solutions
That's really odd, actually. I'm on these boards every day,
    and I've
never heard of this issue. I don't *think* the Find/Replace
    dialog visits
panel contents, such as the Component Inspector panel, but I
    wouldn't swear
    to that.
    > What do you guys do for code completion - is there
    > a tool that would bring Flash on par with an
    professional IDE?
Well, Flash is a professional IDE, of course. By definition,
    if you pay
for something, you have acquired a professional product or
    service. I know
what you mean, though. Flash itself rocks, but the Actions
    panel can be
glaringly weak. Personally, I use SE|PY to edit ActionScript.

Sorry I can't speak to your other issue. :-/

  • Problem with dual boot after upgrade to Mountain lion

    Hello Every One,
I have a Macbook pro from 2009 which had dual boot option Windows 7 + Snow Leopard.
The windows 7 had 2 partitions (C; and D: an extended partition).
I upgraded the OS X to Mountain lion. after upgrade the system showed 3 options at boot time. Mac, Windows and a recovery partition.
when i boot to windows the D: drive is gone...I mean even though i can see the partition in partition software, windows 7 stopped showing D: in "My computer".
So i used testdisk utility to get the D: drive back and now when i boot to mountain Lion i am able to access both C:(BOOTCAMP) and D: drives.
but now the problem is during boot time my Mac Book pro doesn't show the windows option.
Can some suggest a means to boot into windows 7? Also what is the purpose of recovery partition that Mountain lion adds to the system? I mean is it going to hurt if i get rid of it so that i can go back to my old configuration of 3  primary partitions (1 for windows 7 ...C: bootcamp + MountainLion) + 1 extended partition for D:
    any help would be appreciated?

Since installing Mountain Lion, the camera roll on my iPad does not download pictures.  It's a first generation iPad.  Is it not compatible with Mountain Lion or is there something I can do?

  • AOL causing problems with Airport and Mail

It's another reason to get rid of AOL, but my wife is still hooked... when her AOL is running on the iMac G5 connected to the DSL modem, other computers can't access the Internet over the Airport from this G5 (and for some reason, Mac Mail won't send e-mail). When AOL isn't running, the Airport and Mail problems are gone. (It took a while to figure out this was the problem!)
Does this problem have its root in the arcane world of sockets and ports? Or is there some AOL preference I can change to make it play nice with others?

I think it is simply how AOL works. If you log into AOL it only wants that one connection working.
The only router I know of that works with AOL is the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). I suggest that you get an AEBS and use that to share the connection instead of your iMac G5.

  • Problems with Gmail and Mail App

Up until now, my gmail account (with 2 step log-in) has worked fine on my iPhone.
Today - when refreshing mail, I got a pop-up saying that the username and password were incorrect and mail couldn't be retrieved from the imap server at Google.  So...I went to my account settings on google - revoked the existing application specific password for my iPhone mail and then generated a new one.  When I entered it on the settings screen on my iPhone, I got the same message - u/p incorrect!
I deleted my gmail account and started over...same thing!!
Now, I have no access to mail and I can't figure out what to try next!
    Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks!

Well...after entering 6 different app-specific passwords and performing 3 separate reboots...mail is back up and running.  Next time I'll probably try putting my right foot in the air and spinning around in my chair 3.5 times...stupid Google!

  • Iso7 problems with messaging and mail

SInce loading iso7 I cannot send or receive text messages from/to other iPhones. I have reset to factory settings, turned iMessage off and on. My iPad is also on ISO 7 and has no problem in sending or receiving. I have also just started having problems with email (on both iPad and iPhone). I can't send or receive, keeps saying password wrong.

In settings>messages, there is a text message forwarding part. If you have your mac open and connected to wifi, as well as your iPhone, you should see 1 or multiple devices, depending on how many there are. However, I have not done this in a while, soo i think you have to be signed in to the same iCloud account on both devices, too.

  • ITunes 11.0.3 causing major problems with Safari and Mail.

I have a 2007 aluminum iMac with 4GB of Crucial RAM running 10.8.3, now 10.8.4.  Got an iTunes update to 11.0.3 a few weeks ago.  Since then, iTunes, Mail, and Safari can't be open at same time or iMac slows to a crawl.  10.8.4 update did not fix this.  I've run the Apple hardware checking program and all checks out fine.  I've run Clean My Mac 2.0, which didn't help at all.  I installed a widget to monitor internal temperatures, and they are not too high.  I've tried a Time Machine restore to May 14th, but it didn't seem to restore the old version of iTunes, but rather rolled back the desktop.  Please help!

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.
