Problems with GNOME After The Last Upgrade

I have too many problems these days with my Arch box.. And I don't know when or how these problems are solved but I'm really bored about having problem all the time. I don't know all of these are bugs but if they're I'm ready to enter some bug reports.
1) After the last update, Metacity doesn't start automatically. So everytime, I don't have my mouse theme, my thema of borders of the windows, the notes I took with gnome's note applet doesn't disappear.
2) gnome-power-manager is never the same that I used to.. I just found that killing and rerunning it is at least make it work. But it's menus and options is not rich as I was earlier times. It doesn't say that much as it did in the earlier times.

I've same problem with gnome-power-manager, it works only when i kill it with killall gnome-power-monitor and re-run it.
About metacity i don't have problem with it.

Hi, yesterday I downloaded and install the last update available for Snow Leopard. After having installed the update, I had problems with Matlab (I use the version R2010a), and the error code is reported below. Do you think the error and the update are correlated? Problems with java after the last update- Encylopaedia Britannica 2011

Since updating Java (Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 4) Encylopaedia Britannica, the App will not launch. An error "Cannot launch Java application" - "Uncaught exception in main method: java.lang.NullPointerException" occurs.
Can any users help me solce this puzzle?

I have reinstalled Java 1.5., however I still get a Cannot launch Java application: Uncaught exception in main mehtod: java.lang.NullPointerException.
I have contacted Encylopaedia Britannica, and they have yet to provide me with a solution.

Weird problem after the last upgrade(10.4.8)

Hello all,
I am using a 1.66mhz MacMini with intelcoreduo. After the last upgrade
2weeks ago. I begun to encounter weird behaviors(those does not happen
all the time, but happens..) from my mac. I'll try to list those
behaviors below:
- trash can sometime can not empty, I have to open the thrashbin and
delete manaually by selecting each file to delete
-finder failing to open a new window.
- when i take screenshot, it only appears when i try to find it over spotlight
- and worst of them all, recent files downloaded on my desktop disappearing sometimes and only way to reach them ise search on finder, when spotlight finds it, it appears back again).
These are all so weird kinda behaviors. I am curious if any of you
having the same problems, or rather these problems has been allready
pointed.

I've seen some of those before but on a G4 Tower, so far never on my Intel Mac Mini.
I've seen screenshots not appear on the desktop until much later or when a new file is brought or created on the desktop. Likewise, I've seen the same behaviour with some files I've downloaded (to a specific downloads folder).
I remember stuffit 9 or 10 had a bug similar to this where when you expanded a an archive it was "empty" until you moved a new file into the folder or made a new file/folder in it, then it would show you the files that were actually in the expanded archive.
Try repairing your permissions and booting from your Mac OS X install disc and running disk repair.

Yes, I know that, but I ever work with the right mouse button,
because selecting groups and subgroups with double click make some confusion for me.

You can double click on the selected object to get into the multilevel isolation mode.

I cannot get ICloud to work after the last upgrade on iphoto?

explain the crash... perhaps recovery might be more useful than new settings.

The license for Win10 after the last upgrade to 10049 is still valid up to April 15th and not to October 15th

I installed the first preview of Win10. Which would be valid for up to April 15th. After the last upgrade the preview screen shows build 10049. Valid up to October 15th. But Windows is not activated. I tried to activate. Response: wrong key. (...-9D6T9).I
tried to change the key with the new one given in the nowadays downloading pages (...-233PK) Response: this key is not valid for the version is installed. So do I have to download the whole setup again and reinstall it to my pc?

There are only 2 product keys..........
For Pro ( non-Enterprise ) version it is : NKJFK-GPHP7-G8C3J-P6JXR-HQRJR
For Enterprise version it is : PBHCJ-Q2NYD-2PX34-T2TD6-233PK
Look to the bottom right of the screen it tells you which version you have........

I have a problem with iMovie since the last update to 9.0.7 when you press the camera button to import iMovie vypíče stops and an error message. Or he'll file> import from camera so iMovie also quits.

Having trouble with firefox since the last upgrade

Since the last upgrade to firefox on the 17th jan it will open up an initial tab but wont open any subsequent tabs. if I click on a link or one of my favourites it just seems to sit there going round and round and not connecting. I have never had any sort of problem with firefox before and don't want to uninstall and reinstall in case I lose all of my favourites. Can any one help?

After the last upgrade of OS X Mountain Lion I can't seem to adjust screen brightness anymore. Why and how do I solve this?

My screen brightness used to adjust itself and if not I could use f1 and f2 keys. After my last upgrade of OSX Mountain Lion, these do not seem to work. Does somebody know what happened and how I can return to the original situation?

Problems with graphics after Boot Camp upgrade (from 3.1 to 3.2)

Right, today I upgraded Boot Camp (the first time I used iTunes on Windows so thats way I never did the upgrade before) from 3.1 to 3.2 and after the installation my screen went blank/black. After restarting iMac it the screen appeared but in 1024x768 resolution and without working graphic drivers.
I tried many different options to update the ATI HD 4850 driver, but none of them worked. It always says that there is some problem with it, but it also is up to date every time I try to update it manually for the drivers which comes with 10.12 Catalyst.
I spend several hours trying to solve it, but I just can't and I really don't know what to do next.

Right, I managed to fix it by updating the software manually, but selecting to choose from the list and I had to install the mobility drivers.

Problem with JFMERGE using the last set of data on all form sets

b Here is the scenario...
I have a file of data in character delimited format. Each record needs to produce the same set of forms. I used the Visual Transformation Editor to define the field nominated data file, including the ^form statements. The transformation agent processes the file of multiple records just fine. I get a file from JFTRANS that contains the set of data & form statements repeated for each record in the file.
Great so far.
b Here is the problem...
Unfortunately, the print agent is repeating the same set of data on every copy of the set of forms that is printed. It uses the data from the last set of forms to be printed.
b Additional information...
For ease of building the field nominated file by our custom client program we have standardized on using GLOBAL fields. Therefore, our DAT files contain all the ^global declarations with all the necessary ^form statements at the end. I used the transformation editor to build the same type of file. Therefore the file going to the print agent looks like:
^global name1
data1
^global name2
data2
^form form1
^form form2
^global name1
newdata1
^global name2
newdata2
^form form1
^form form2
The printed result puts "newdata1" & "newdata2" on both sets of form2. Strangely, the correct data values are showing up on both sets of form1.
The only difference between the two forms is that form1 is not defined with the fields as global where form2 does define them as global. I removed the global flag from form2 but that didn't change anything.
I think I know what is occurring. JFMERGE is putting the data elements into the global dictionary and when the same name is in the file the latest data value ends up in the dictionary (thus all the forms print using the last data put into the dictionary). I certainly didn't expect this. I thought it would load the dictionary and print the first set of forms, then reload the dictionary and print the next set of forms. At least that is the way I see it occuring based on the order of things in the DAT file. Based on what is occuring it appears that JFMERGE reads the whole DAT file, building the dictionaries and then processes all the ^form statements.

Does anyone know what I can do (such as insert some command) to get the correct data on the forms?
It looks like using a fixed record format might do the trick but that isn't an option at this time. As things are right now it looks like I'm going to have to take the data file apart, and make lots of files with one line of data per file.
I have a time deadline to get this printed so if there isn't a way to make JFMERGE operate as I expected it looks like I'll be doing this by hand. Fortunately, there are only 250-300 data lines. Future jobs could have thousands of data lines so if there isn't a way to do it with a multi-line data file I'll have someone create a program for splitting the original file up (and adding the ^job line).

We don't use subforms so some of what you suggest isn't effective for us. Our forms are a duplication of the paper forms and are not dynamic. We design each form separately and our custom filler software (that builds the DAT file) uses a database with the required forms for each print job defined within it. Since we don't have subforms, our simple method of printing is to declare as GLOBAL all the unique fields used on all the forms to be printed followed by the ^form commands. It was a simple & straightforward method for us to do better than 500 print jobs over that past couple of years. In addition, our custom filler software can easily build the DAT files. Because I need to manually declare all the ^form statements my experience with using ^field is that the form must be declared followed by the appropriate field commands (repeat for all the forms). i <many hours later I continue typing this post> Taking the original Transformation Definition File and customizing it for how things need to be when using ^field commands was a time consuming experience (and a learning one). It did the job as I needed but it is an experience I don't want to repeat. There has got to be a better way of building the TDF properly. I'm definately leaning towards a program to split the file into multiple files. Here is what I went through... I did all the editting using Notepad. I changed all ^global to ^field. Then I had to remove the #comment lines. Next was to find any references to fields that had to be global to the top and chang ^field to ^global. Then it was moving the fields around so they were underneath the appropriate ^form statement. Then, since one of the forms was multi-page I had to add the ^page command and sort the fields so they were under the correct page. That was followed by duplicating fields that are used on multiple forms or multiple pages. Then I discovered that the print agent won't do ^page unless "inline processing" is turned off (I did not want to specify the page name as it could change over time) - so I added "^inline off" in front of every ^page. Finally it was removing unecessary field references so the log file would be clean. After the last upgrade, my firefox will not open. Task manager says it is running, but I get nothing.

I finally allowed the last update to run... upon completion, my browser window would not open. I rebooted, got the window to open but had no function on the navigation bar. The only way I could navigate the web was to go to my home page, google, search for the web page and click on the results. Refresh also would not work. I did another reboot and now I'm back to no visual evidence of the browser window being open. It seems like every update for the past few months crashes my ability to utilize my add-ons and my ability to see video is almost always compromised.
