Problems with graphics and Internet connection - iMac 2011 with Lion

First: sorry about my english... It is terrible! lol
I have an 2011 iMac, purchased in June 2011 in the USA. I brought the iMac to Brazil.
Sometimes when I turn on my iMac, the graphics are horrible and can not connect to the Internet. When this happens, I have to restart the Lion.
Apple introduced the "iMac FW Graphic Update 3.0". The information says clearly that supports Brazilian Portuguese. Butwhen I install, an error appears: "this software is not compatible with your system".
My Lion is in Brazilian Portuguese. Why it is not compatible? How do I install it? How can I solve this problem?
Note: The technical assistance of Apple changed the HD, according to recall made by Apple through the site. The HD is new.
Thank you very much!

Anybody? I'm buying a new network card simply but I'm not sure that it is the network card that is causing the network problems I'm experiencing.
Regards
André

  • Issues with 'stuck' keys on new iMac (2011) with Aluminium KB

    Hi All,
I've got a weird issue which I've seen on a few other forums... with no real fix. I've got a new 27" iMac (2011) and I have been using it happily for a few weeks. In the last two days, my keyboard has been going a little crazy.
Firstly I thought it funny that the 'option' key wouldn't work during bootup and later I discovered that once booted in OSX, i'd have 'sticky' keys or keys not registering when pressed.
When I reset the keyboard, everything works fine again.
Its becoming a problem as I cannot register an of the bootup options anymore and have reverted to using an old Remote to access my boot volume screen (holding the Menu button).
Has anyone seen this before and if so, what is the fix other than taking the keyboard back to the Mac store?
    Thanks again,
    Con

    Hi Cabakroll,
Yeah, I've been doing regular updates (when available). I have actually figured out the issue... its a very weird fix mind you. I went back to see what changed the other day, when I first notice the issue. I recalled that I swapped out the batteries (the ones that came with it were running low for some reason), with rechargables.
Since then, the keyboard has been going crazy. I swapped the rechargables with normal batteries and bingo, problem fixed. :S
Thanks for getting back to me though.
    Hopefully this helps others too.

  • I'm having problems with my mobile internet connection

I'm having problems with my mobile internet connection. Wifi works fine. It seems like my connection get lost every tuesday and friday between 11 and 12 am local time (guess it would be between 2 and 3 am Los angeles time for example). The connection won't comeback by itself. I have to turn the phone, iPhone 4s iOS 5.0.1, off and back on again. The connection immediatly works fine after the restart and stays fine for days. I really don't know what to do. My provider doesn't seem to know either. Tried a lot of things, new settings, resets, I even got a new iPhone. Still the same problem however. Richt now I changes the time setting to see it the problem occurs at another time. Btw: the phone doesn't say "no service" and I can send sms messages and make phonecalls. The 3G symbol or the circular symbol is shown next to the name of the provider.
Does somebody has an idea what this might be? Thanks a lot.

Update. My carrier says the antenna of my iPhone 4s is not so good as the one in the iPhone 3G. They can't solve the problem. Their signal is too weak for the 4s at places I spend most of my time. Not the answer I expected, but I'm free to choose an other carrier. Hope this will help.
This was not the correct answer, I accidentially clicked the button..

  • Problem with not getting Internet Connect on AirPort Express

Problem with not getting Internet Connect on AirPort Express (version7.6.4). Error says cannot get valid IP address. Have reset Siemens SpeedStream 4100 several time, even with tech support from the big "A" DSL provider. Plug MacBook Pro directly into modem and works fine. Unplugged AirPort, even reset it, still no luck. A bad Express?? or am not looking in the right place to make connection. Was working fine up until Sunday.

Connect the AirPort Express (AX) to the cable modem via Ethernet cable.
In configuring the AX using AirPort Utility:
Under Internet, set the connection to be Ethernet using DHCP.
Under Connection Sharing, set it to distribute a range of IP addresses.
Under AirPort>Wireless, set the Wireless Mode to Create a wireless network, and fill in the remaining settings in the same window. Until you get it working, you might want to set Wireless Security to None.

That is another problem not related to the Mac OS X version you are trying to use.
Three beeps at startup means you have a bad ram module in the computer.  Did you install the ram or did it come from another owner this way?  The first problem you need to solve is the bad ram.
When the iMac starts, go to the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Memory and see what the report is on the memory...does the iMac report all memory modules that have been installed as OK or does it show bad memory?  If there is not any information, you then need to remove the memory modules and restart one at a time to see which is bad.
On the bottom of the screen there should be a small door that you can remove with a small screw driver.  You need to lay the iMac flat, disconnect the power cord, remove that small door and remove the memory modules.  You can then put two in (if it has four) and see if it starts without the beeps.  Do that with each module so you find out which is bad.  Once you know the bad memory, you can buy a new module, just like the ones installed, so the iMac starts without the beeps.
Next, you cannot use a DVD for another computer for your iMac unless it is from one that is identical to yours.  So, you need to talk to Apple and have them send the DVD for your particular iMac.

  • It says that "there was a problem connecting to the server". What's wrong with this, and how can I deal with this problem?

I just got my new iPad Mini2, and when I choose "sign in with your apple ID", it says that "there was a problem connecting to the server". What's wrong with this, and how can I deal with this problem?

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

  • Feeble internet connection SBS 2011 ADSL & optic fiber backup

I have two internet connections, one with ADSL, a cisco router and an IPCOP firewall and second with optic fiber and a watchguard firewall. It is either one or the other as I’m testing my internet connection. All this attached to a switch
with an SBS 2011. My problem is that my internet connection with either setup is feeble. When I try to reach google, I sometimes get errors and I constantly loose connection on Skype. When I’m RWW it randomly loses the connection without changing IP. I would
like to test my network without a variable: SBS 2011. As you know if the server is down nobody can get out and nobody will get in. So for testing purposes what would you recommend that I do in order to shut down the server and test my internet connection?
Even posting this was a problem. Cheers.
    Mikelo Sanchez

    Hi:
SBS relies on DNS for RWA, Internet Access and such.  Try this:  Connect one of the routers, preferable the faster one, to the switch, remove the other, and go back through the console wizards to verify you have input the correct entries as
provided by the ISP for that connection.  Note that the ONLY reference to DNS anywhere in your network should be the IP of the SBS, and the SBS should have either the DNS of your ISP (or other known good DNS servers) as forwarders OR root hints as the
lookup for DNS from the SBS DNS server. You can verify this by start - admin tools -dns - rclick server name - forwarders tab.
For RWA from the outside the necessary ingredients are a stable connection and proper public DNS settings.  For SBS we normally see an A record at the public DNS host for "remote.your-domain-name.tld" pointing to the external public static IP address
assigned by your ISP to the external interface of your router/firewall.
If all the settings are as described and it is still flakey you may be cursed with unreliable internet service and nothing you can do will overcome that.

  • Mail and Internet Connection conflict

I have a VPN PPTP connection running. Most of my other Mac internet apps run fine (Safari, Fetch), for that matter Mail can read new emails. The problem is that Mail won't send mail until I close the VPN connection. I figure this is a port conflict, Mail output and Internet Connection using the same ports, is there a way to change the port either is using? If so, any idea what I should change it to?

  • Resetting Airport Extreme disabled my home network. Now when i attempt to get to internet with iPad, or iPhone, I see an Earthlink (ISP) window with message: The internet connection is currently in use by another computer (nun.nn.n.nn)

Resetting Airport Extreme disabled my home network. Now when i attempt to get to internet with iPad, or iPhone, I see an Earthlink (ISP) window with message: The internet connection is currently in use by another computer (nun.nn.n.nn) Enter your DSL Account logon psassword to switch the internet connection to this computer. If I do that, other messages follow. I am usually able to switch connection, but can have only one device on internet at a time. Tried to correct problem using Airport Utility, but failed.

Unfortunately, there is mass confusion about whether a device might be a modem or a modem/router since the terms are mixed up all the time. Even though a device might have only one Ethernet port, it can still be a router.
    If this is your "modem".......
    http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netopia-cayman-3341-router/4507-3319_7-30484785. html
It is not a modem.....it is a modem/router. If that is the case, then the AirPort Extreme is not the only router on your network....it is one of two routers, and it should be configured to operate in Bridge Mode.
Does this device appear to be your "modem"?

  • Internet connection not recognized with Airport Express

Prior to getting my first Airport Express, I'd had my broadband modem connected directly to my Mac mini. Since I hadn't an iphone or ipad back then, wireless access wasn't an issue. When that changed, I purchased a first-generation Airport Express. My setup was as simple as it gets:
    a) Unplug the ethernet cable from my mini.
    b) Plug the ethernet cable into the (single) ethernet port on AE.
    c) Using Airport Utility, create a wireless network.
    d) Join that network with each of my devices - mini, iphone & ipad - so I might access the Internet wirelessly.
That's it. I've no printer or sound system to which I need wireless access. No extended wireless or other complicated networks.
My hardware setup needs haven't changed. However, because I was having intermittent problems with the wireless connection to my mini, I thought the new AE with its dual bands might help. I bought one yesterday, thinking to use it in place of the old AE.
I figured the setup would go as easily as it did last time. I was wrong. I've spent the last six hours trying to get the new AE to work. The problem is that the Internet connection is not being recognized. First, there was a message about a "self assigned IP address." I googled that, found discussions here about it, and (seemingly) managed to get rid of that problem. But now, no matter how many times I've unplugged/factory reset/restarted the various devices (AE, modem, mini), I can't get an Internet connection. The only way I've been able to write this message is to have reconnected the broadband modem directly to my mini. So I am completely without wireless at this point.
What is wrong? How the heck can I fix this?

Well, thanks to my own stubborn tenacity, I finally got my spanking new Airport Express to work. I'd tried several factory resets, following the recommendation that one power down all devices (not just the AE), plus other fiddling about, all to no effect.
The last factory reset I did differently. I kept my broadband modem and computer still on, and only unplugged the AE then plugged it in again while depressing the reset button for ten seconds. (Those factory resets aren't easy to do when you've only two hands!)
Finally, this time when I clicked the wi-fi icon in the menu bar, I saw the AE listed there, which allowed me to follow the setup process as described here.

  • 3.1Ghz i5 iMac 2011 with OSX Lion GPU running very hot (80C) when running secondary monitor via thunderbolt

Using 3.1Ghz i5 iMac 2011 with 6970M and OSX Lion 10.7, I'm having this temperature issue on the GPU diode where it was hovering around 80C on just normal task (browsing web). From iStat I noticed that the Graphic Module was taking full 33W even though I was just browsing.
But I did have a secondary display running at 1920x1080 via the thunderbolt port. The moment I disconnect it the Graphic Module drop to 15W and the GPU diod drop to around 60C.
So was it caused by the thunderbolt? Why does running external monitor taxing the GPU so much?

Try resetting the SMC and see if that helps. On occasion it takes 2-3 resets for it to "take."
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Client dns and internet connection

    Hi,
Running 10.5.5 Server with basic DNS for inter clients to access AFP/SMB and Wiki services via Open Directory. IP address is 192.168.1.10
Clients currently receive internet via DHCP from a router and Network preferences autofills DNS and search domains with router address 192.168.1.1 and RP614v4 respectively.
If I add the server IP and search domain, I can't see the server via DNS name unless I reverse the order in the fields (192.168.1.10 and ######.private). However this turns the internet connection to snail pace.
How can I get the DNS to work for both the internal server and internet connection?
    Thanks,
    Joel.

If your DNS server is running correctly, there's no reason why it should resolve any slower than the router. The fact you're mentioning it implies that the delay is significant so I'll guess that your clients are requesting an address from your server, but that's timing out so they're falling back to the router before proceeding.
You should check your DNS server to make sure it's set to be recursive (so it answers queries for non-local domains, too). That way the clients can get all lookups from your server and you should be good to go.
