Problems with iCal and outgoing mail

My Ical keeps giving me this message: The request for account “Yahoo!” failed.  The server responded with “502” to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.  How do i fix this?

Yes, thanks, was my first stop and very handy.
Unfortunately, because my pop account is hosted/relayed at Earthlink, it did not identify the account as it would a stand-alone service. I tried using the basic Earthlink account info, but of course, my basic account does not have anything to do with my current business pop account. So after using the set-up assistant, I was back at square one.
I was able to set up smtp.com successfully and am up and running.
I just can't figure out why one setting would mess up another.

  • Problems with incoming and outgoing mail

I've read a number of posts on this topic, yet none completely matches the problems I'm having.
    Incoming Mail:
My incoming e-mail is a pop account hosted by Earthlink. I am able to enter my data and get mail using a non wi-fi network.
    Outgoing Mail:
When I use the generic AT&T outgoing server, it works, but then I am unable to get mail, and vice-versa. (I tried sending mail through the general web hosting server that Earthlink recommended (and works on my laptop when traveling away from home network, but it just spins.)
    Conflict:
I am either able to send mail or receive mail, not both at once, thank-you-very-much.
The settings and ports are unchanged. And, I can't figure out why one would affect the other considering they are two completely different settings.
We're currently trying to set up a smtp.com or Google mail account, which is okay, but I would much rather solve this without any more links in the chain.
Any suggestions? Will re-setting my iPhone completely help?

  • Problems with iCal and Picasa: related to system battery?

Just over the past two days, iCal has been repeatedly showing alarms at 5 past the hour, and Google Update has been repeatedly (much more often than hourly) asking for me to update Picasa, even though I successfully updated the first time the dialog box appeared a couple of days ago.
The iCal alarm that popped up while I was reading this showed alarms dating back to 23:55 GMT on Monday 15 November. If I leave my computer for more than 2 hours I do not get duplicate alarm windows stacked up.
Racking my brain for recent changes made which may be significant (I use my computer so much it seems to be in a continuous state of flux):
    -I reset the SMC
    -I upgraded to 10.6.5
-My slot-loading drive has been failing to eject CDs (probably a red herring. I've been using a script to repeatedly use drutil tray eject 1 until ejected).
Other details which may or may not have a bearing:-
I use Parallels Desktop 5 regularly, which slows my machine down considerably.
I have an iPhone 3G which I sync with iCal, iTunes, Adress Book etc.
Any other changes, I really can't remember. Is there any way to look at log files (which I find monumentally off-putting, but would try), or something else, to easily pick out my recent significant changes? The fewer sources I have to check the better, as I am very time-poor.
Obviously thanks and respect go to anyone who can be helpful.

This solved my the problem ! The solution was written by a Googe employee.
I assume you've enabled two-factor authentication for your Google account. In this case, you'll have to generate an access code at https://www.google.com/
accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens - and use that code in place of your password in the iPhone Mail settings.
You'll have to generate a new access code for each place you log in that doesn't support two-factor authentication (i.e. anywhere except in a browser).
Since the apple email client doesn't support the new gmail authenticator, you have to generate a code via the link above and use that in place of your regular password.

  • Are others having problems with Lion and btinternet mail ?

Since using OS-X Lion many odd things have been happening , especially with Mail ( 5.1).
The problems may be related to the combination of Lion/Mail 5.1 and btinternet as my ISP.
    1. Since using Lion, with (Mac) Mail  I have been unable to use BTinternet's 'POP' mail - although my local Apple Store Genius tells me that it was not a good choice and I'm well rid of it - in favour of IMAP mail
    2. BT has, recently improved the security of its IMAP mail, so perhaps IMAP is the best choice.  In any event Mac Mail under Lion appears to take over as soon as bt is mentioned and signs me up automatically for IMAP. Even if I override the automatic process it still will not let me go to bt's POP mail.
    3. HOWEVER ( it's a big one!), whilst the incoming IMAP mail seems O.K. it frequently won't let me send mail. It simply puts it into drafts when I click send.
    4. Sometimes, if I go away and make a coffee ( not mandatory) and come back ten minutes later it will have sent the mail - but leaves a copy in 'drafts'. I know it has sent it because it appears in the Send box - despite there being no sign on any movement showing sending when I leave the machine ...
    5. I have a Macbook and a desktop machine ( Mac Pro). Both have the same problem - both have the same settings.
    6. I was able to demonstrate the problem to a Genius at the Apple Store. We deleted the account and rentered it and had the same problem - no sending.
In a 45 minute sending we could not solve it.
    7. I went home and found that the drafts in Mail on the desktop had all gone and had been sent.
    8. Today, as I write outgoing mails and click send they go straight into the Drafts again.
Any ideas? I really can't face an hour on the phone to an Mac incompetent in Mumbai .....
My btinternet webmail is behaving normally.
    Gordon

I do the same, I have different backgrounds for each desktop. I don't have any problem with it. You could try holding the mouse over prefferances and selecting options , This Desktop, and do the same in each desctop and changing the desktop background in each.
You may allready do this, but it could be worth a shot to do it again.

  • Problem with iCloud and E-mail set-up

I have been trying to set-up an iCloud e-mail account but keep getting the messages that it cannot set-up the account.
Problems from the iCloud control provide the message that I should use the e-mail preferences to set-up the account, the e-mail preferences provides the message that I should set-up iCloud account. The iCloud account has been set-up and the apple ID works well with other applications.
Not sure what the issue is?

Welcome to the Apple Community SupportLesley9119.
Go to system preferences > iCloud and uncheck Mail. Go to the Mail application and check that the account has disappeared, if not delete it. Go back to system preferences > iCloud and check mail.

  • Problems with Inbox and Imported Mail

I just got a new iMac G5, and I have woefully messed up Mail on it. I use Mail to access an Exchange account (via IMAP) that I can also access from other computers (PowerMac G5 10.4.2, iBook G4 10.3.9). Upon initial iMac setup, Mail worked fine. Then I imported a large number (>10,000) of archived messages from mailboxes on the iBook. I probably did this wrong, as I first tried just copying the mailboxes from Library/Mail on iBook to same location on iMac. All dragged-over mailboxes appeared empty, so I deleted and used Mail's "import" feature. Imported mailboxes all contain two copies of each message, one I can read, and one saying that the message has not been downloaded from the server. All mailboxes were within an "Imported" folder. When I tried to drag messages to other folders to re-organize them, I could not transfer the "not downloaded" copies and the copies I could transfer disappeared when I put them in new mailboxes.
At the same time, though I don't know if they are connected, my iMac's Mail Inbox stopped showing any messages. I can see messages in Mail's Inbox on the other computers, so I know there are messages on the server. I can see contents of Drafts and Sent mailboxes on the server. Preferences were not touched. I tried rebuilding Inbox and other mailboxes but did not help. Quitting the application and reopening, as well as restarting the computer, did not help. I also notice that Mail now takes several minutes to quit.
    Questions:
    1. Any idea how to get Mail to show what's on the server in my Inbox?
    2. Any idea how to import messages without the "not downloaded" duplicates? How do I then move them to the folders where I want them?
    3. Can I dump and re-install Mail without re-installing the entire OS? Outside of Mail, I have a lot of settings personalized that I would rather not lose.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Problems with iOS4 and Google Mail (ActiveSync/Exchange)

So, I’m one of those people whose greatest virtue isn’t patience.
Minutes after its release I HAD to install iOS4 onto my iPhone 3GS. Since there’s no upgrade procedure implemented (yet?), upgrading took just short of a lifetime: the iPhone was completely wiped, then iTunes installed iOS4, then the backup was restored to the iPhone. All in all, an probably thanks to the enormously big Navigon app, this took almost 90 minutes.
Everything looked fine… but after a couple of hours of normal usage I ran into a “little” problem…
I unplugged the iPhone at around 10 am with a fully charged battery. After just four hours (during which I received 10 mails, 5 push messages and made one call of approx. 3 minutes) the battery was down to 63%. Normally it should still be in then 90s…
It seemed as if, somehow, Mail.app crashed and went wild – draining battery like crazy and heating up the device.
Back home, I deleted my Mail accounts, rebooted the iPhone, added my Mail accounts again (manually) and recharged the iPhone to the fullest.
During the next 5 hours (in a region with full 3G coverage) I received another 15 mails, 10 push notifications and 1 text message, which I also replied to.
The battery was down to 53%.
This morning, I downloaded the “iPhone Configuration Utility” to gain access to the iPhones “console output”. You can find the, in my eyes, relevant parts below this post.
There are some timeouts for com.apple.mobilemail.autofetch and a few reports of an EASIconnection dying with “Error Domain:NSURLErrorDomain Code=1001″ which obviously means “This operation couldn’t be completed”.
Furthermore, from time to time, the EASIASFolderItemsSyncTask fails.
As of now, I assume that this is some kind of problem between Mail.app on my iPhone and the Googlemail server, which I’m accessing via ActiveSync/Exchange, since I’d like to get my mails pushed to me.
I then deleted the Googlemail Exchange-Account and replaced it with the "normal" IMAP-Account. That works fine.
Right now I'm testing with other Exchange servers to see if this problem is on the iPhone/iOS part or on Google's side.
    Anyone else noticing this?!

  • Unusual Problem with Yahoo and Apple Mail

I hope it doesn't turn out that the user is the thing that is "unusual."
    Background:
    Devices: MBP, iPad, iPhone, iMac
    Mail accounts: Gmail, mobileme, Yahoo
MBP settings: uses "default ports", SSL, and user name and password - Advanced Tab: Port 993 and SSL
iPad/iPhone settings: SMTP server settings - grayed-out - with SSL checked and Port 465
As of last night, I found four messages that were stuck in my Sent box, with the spinning gear that would not stop.  This only happens when using my Yahoo account, and it only happens when sent from my MPB.  It is also only related to outbound messages.
Now for the part that has me perplexed.  My password for Yahoo (web), is the same as the password on my MBP (Apple Mail).  The passwords that I have on the iPhone and iPad, are the same for both, but they're different than the password for the previous two that I mentioned.  When I changed the password on my MBP to match the one that's on my mobile devices, it came up with an error for an incorrect username or password.
How can I have different passwords and still have mail working?  What am I missing?  Also - more to the point of my issue, can anyone offer some suggestions as to why the outbound side of Apple Mail, is not working for Yahoo?
    Thank you.

Sorry...it's too bad you can't delete questions...  Problem solved - port number needed to be changed, and the password was deleted for some reason.  I still don't know why I see two different passwords for the same account....  Thanks for looking.

  • IPhone sync problem with iCal and Address Book

I have a new iPhone 4 that is not syncing contacts or events. It doesn't seem to matter whether the event or contact is created in my iMac or on the iPhone. Either way, the data doesn't move. During the iPhone synch process, where iTunes tells you what is going on, syncing calendars and contacts doesn't even appear. When I had my iPod Touch, all worked well. I saw a post about resetting in iSync, etc., but when I look there, I don't even see my iPhone, and so far I can't add it. My only option there is to add a bluetooth device. So I need some help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Chuck

    You're welcome.
You can't hurt anything by resetting the sync history on your Mac, and doing so may resolve the problem.
Syncing contacts direct with a supported Address Book application and syncing calendar events direct with a supported Calendar app on your computer via the iTunes sync process has nothing to do with a MobileMe account - a trial account or otherwise. Completely separate and not related even if you are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone. If you are doing so with your iPhone, syncing direct with the Address Book and iCal via the iTunes sync process is not required.

  • Password problems with yahoo and mac mail

I am asked almost every time now to give my password and save to key chain.  This works for one email send/receive then askes again even though ive stored it!!! HELP

you need to quit the mail application completely.
then open your utilities (located within the application folder in the finder window)
in the utilities open the keychain access
on the left side in the top section choose login and in the bottom section choose passwords

  • Having problems with OSX and mail with the servers?

Having problems with OSX and the mail servers?  Seems to be happening more and more?

    Hello,
Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
    You may have multiple entries.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

I have been experiencing the same problem. My mail app won't even open on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro. It will show as open, but the app will never actually show up.
