Problems with plugging my power chord in to my dv6700 notebook

This problem has been going on for a while and im just noticing that it is getting worse. when i plug in my power chord into my notebook i have to jiggle it to make the Blue LED go on to let the user know that power is getting into the battery. It has been getting worse now where i would have to jiggle it for minutes inorder to get the LED light to turn n and stay on. Sometimes it would turnoff if i move the notebook just a little bit and i would not know it until the battery runs out. Is this problem happening to anyone else. should i contact HP?

I didn't say you abused it...I apologize if my words seem that way.  What I was trying to say is that the jacks cannot take much in the way of lateral forces and torque...the jacks are soldered on using only three tiny pieces of metal.  The flexing of the jack caused when the power cord is allowed to hang down or bend at an angle right at the jack, or the twisting that can accompany inserting and removing the jack can cause the jack to fail.
If the motherboard is not damaged (cracked or separated where the solder joints are), it can be fixed.  If the jack has also damaged the mothterboard (cracked the PCB where the jack mounts to it), then the entire motherboard will need to be replaced.

  • Satellite A300-202 - problems with the AC power

    Hi,
I bought a Satellite A300-202 a couple of months ago and I'm having intermittent problems with the AC power.
Sometimes I plug the AC power and it won't start charging (the indicator leds are off and windows says it is on battery). Other times it is charging and suddenly stops.
I suspected it could be the cord broken in the inside but it seems to also happen when no one touches it. Usually, when it stops charging, I unplug it from the wall, wait a few seconds and plug it back in, and it starts charging fine never stopping again.
Anyone got a similar problem? I wonder if is there any way to just replace the AC power parts so I won't have to send the whole laptop for reparing.
    Thanks
    Pedro

    Hi
I never had a problem with my Toshiba chargers but one old non-Toshiba AC adaptor died after 6 month of usage. After the replacement it works without any problems.
I think you should check the BIOS update as mentioned by Akuma but for me it sounds more like a AC adaptor issue.
So if the BIOS update doesnt help, the AC adaptor should be checked definitely.

  • Safari problem with plug-ins

    I'm having problems with plug-ins in Safari 4.0.5 (6531.22.7).
Within the past two days, Flash, and today, Java applets will not work in Safari. I get the following error messages:
"The page “The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
"This page has content of MIME type “application/x-java-applet”, but you don’t have a plug-in for this MIME type. This page may have the plug-in for you to download and install:
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u16/index.html
Do you want to open the page?"
Java worked as of 3/31. It was on that date, that I first noticed the Flash/Shockwave notices.
My 5 most recent updates through Software update were:
3/31/10 AirPort Base Station Update 5.5.1
    3/31/10 iTunes 9.1
    3/29/10 Mac OS X Update 10.6.3
    3/24/10 Safari 4.0.5
    2/7/10 iTunes 9.0.3
As of today, I have repaired disk permissions, reset Safari & emptied Safari's cache.
The plugins that are in my disk:library:Internet Plug-Ins folder are:
AdobePDFViewer, DivXBrowserPlugin, DRM Plugin, Flash Player, flashplayer.xpt, Flip4Mac, Google Earth, iPhotoPhotocast, ipxBrowserPlugin (folder), JavaPluginCocoa.bundle,NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave, npdivx.xpt, NPSVG3Carbon, nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt, QuartzComposer.webplugin, AuickTime Plugin, RealPlayer Plugin.
    In my user:Library:Internet Plug-Ins folder are: fbplugin1_01 & fbplugin1_03.
This is all on my primary account, which is an administrator account.
FireFox loads the Flash/Shockwave just fine.
I created a new account, logged in with that, and it does not have the same problems. It can see the Flash content on the NY Times site fine.
Any suggestions on more things to do?
    Thank you.

    Hi Larry
re Mail - which may be a separate issue - many people have found that opening Java Preferences (Applications/Utilities/) & clicking both Restore Defaults buttons, stopped an 'attachments not showing
in Mail with missing plugin icon' problem.
In Safari - is it just Flash you don't see?
    Try trashing Flash's settings & storage folder - Home/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/
    and a Flash cache folder - Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player/
If no better, there must be a preference file awry in your usual account, or some extra software beyond those facebook plugins.

  • 875P NEO FIS2R problems with booting at power-up

Having problems with booting at power-up.
Recently, with no apparent modification to system - at power up the system will often not boot.  About 80% of time systems seems to go into a loop with CD/DVD drive light blinking a few times, then the floppy drive light comes on and can hear the FDD run – within 30 seconds or so, this process starts over again.  Power switch LED is on and HDD LED is on (continuously).  All fans are running (power supply fan, case fan, CPU fan and Intel Canterwood 875 fan ).
Monitor power on light is in power save mode (amber) when system does not boot.  When boot is successful the monitor power light turns green immediately.
After pressing the reset button several times (varies between pressing reset button 1 time to 30 or more times) system will then boot OK or go into set up.
Once running there is no apparent problem.
This mainboard comes with D Bracket containing 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 4 diagnostics LEDs - when boot problem occurs the diagnostic LEDs, give a code that in the MSI mainboard manual states “Initializing Keyboard Controller” and diagnostic LEDs stays in this mode until via reset button provides a successful boot and start up.
    Have reseated all connectors.

No, second 40GB HDD was installed months before this issue started and is jumpered as slave drive.  Also, no other additional hardware installed for several months before issue.

I had this laptop for just 7 months and I've been having some problems with the led lights.
The battery light is always ON (white light) even when the laptop is shutted down (start-power-shut down). Is not plugged in to the wall and still on.
The power light is always OFF (no light), even when the laptop is on and running.
    how can i solve this?

can you tell me when the issue started to persist?
since you got it or after using for couple of months?

  • Problem with plug-ins

I can't seem to open iSync because there seems to be a problem with every plug-in. Thing is I am not sure if these plug-ins came with the recent update or whether they are part of a third party download. Does anyone recognise this problem or how I can deal with it?
    Cheers, olly

    I see what happened now...
You didn't have a problem "with every Feisar plug-in", because you actually only had one Feisar plugin installed (for the K800).
Looking at your other posts it appears you also had all the novamedia plugins installed too.
So, iSync was having a problem with every novamedia plug-in, not every Feisar plugin, because you didn't have every Feisar plugin installed.

  • Problem with plug-ins (Noise Ninja & Topaz Denoise)

I've been trying to try demo of Noise Ninja & Topaz Denoise.
    I continuously get following message:
    Editing Error
This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format.
I've deleted aperture.plist and repaired permissions.
    Does anyone have these working?
    How?
    Very frustrated.

I too have had nothing but problems with Topaz filters.
It seems they're not as Mac-friendly as the developer leads you to believe.
I've installed, had it working once, stopped working, uninstalled, deleted the Topaz Appliation support.
gone through the process again and again.
    and it's nothing but problems.
I've given up and am hoping to find another developer who makes an easy to install plugin for Aperture.

It appears to be either a bad graphics card, or bad capacitors on the motherboard.
If you have a non-iSight G5 iMac, you can take the back off your iMac and inspect the capacitors visually.  There are 28-30 capacitors standing up off the board like tiny little cylinders.  Look for dark spots, bulges, or leaks.  If they okay, it's probably the graphics card.
I had a similar situation, and mine was a bad graphics card.
Capacitors can be replaced by an experienced electronics repair person for about $250-$350.  The capacitors themselves are cheap, it's the labor.
The graphics card could probably be replaced, but it would be a used replacement part and probably similar costs.
Better to use the money on upgrading to a new computer.
    Good luck.

  • Problem with HP 3600n Color Laserjet Printer and new HP Notebook Running 64 bit Win7

I have a new HP notebook (dv7t-6100) with Core-i7 Processor, running 64 bit Windows 7 with all of the latest updates.
I also have a 27" iMac with Core-i7 Processor running 64 bit Windows 7 underneath Parallels 7. Parallels is a program that creates a virtual machine underneath Mac OSX.
Both versions of 64 bit Windows 7 work perfectly . . . EXCEPT, neither will print from my HP 3600n Color Laserjet. The iMac will print to the 3600n in OSX mode, and an earlier version of 32 bit Windows 7 under Parallels printed perfectly with this 3600n printer.
These facts prove that the printer is OK, the connection is OK. However, the 64 bit Windows 7 systems do not print.
In both of the 64 bit Windows 7 installs I allowed Windows to find and download the HP driver for this printer. Install of the driver was apparently successful. Still no printing.
One strange fact: Sometimes when I turn the computer off, the 3600n printer will print the items that had been in the queue before powering down. That is the only time it has printed anything . . . except under OSX on the iMac.
Does anyone know if there is a basic problem with 64 bit Windows 7 and this printer ?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I just had the same problem with my MacBook Pro using 10.5.5 After trying a number of things, the following worked. (not sure what specifically ... just did this combination)
    1. Had the Apple store Genius Bar folks install the latest HP drivers.
    2. Restart computer
    3. Restart the HP Color LaserJet 3600
    4. Connected the HP printer and MacBook Pro directly into a switch, so the wireless was not an issue (both machines had IP addresses set and computer's was set to DHCP with manual IP).
    5. Instead of using the System Preference printing and fax tool, I started Text Edit, typed something and said "print".
Print window came up and said "no printer selected"
    6. I clicked on the drop down so it would look for printers.
    7. It found the HP Color LaserJet 3600.
    8. I clicked on the name of the printer and the computer went out and found the driver
    9. I clicked on "Add" and it added the printer.
    10. I tried a couple of test prints in different programs.
    11. I disconnected the hard wired ethernet cables and set the computer to be on the wireless.
    12. I printed a few more test prints in various programs.
I had previously tried selecting the printer and drivers through the System Preferences to no avail, but doing it this way worked.
    Blessings

  • Problem with Plugging in Compact Flash Card

I am having a problem now when I plug my compact flash card in to download pictures.  When I plug the card in, the AutoPlay window pops up, as it always does.  However, I also get another window that pops up and says "Lightroom must quit because catalog named Lightroom Catalog.lrcat is not writeable and cannot be opened.   This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog.  You may select a different catalog the next time you run Lightroom  by holding down the control key while Lightroom launches."
This problem started yesterday.  I had just upgraded to LR 3.5 the day before the problem started.
    Couple of other things:
    1.  Lightroom was not launched at the time I plug in the card and this problem has occurred.   In fact, I just restarted my system a shortwhile ago to test this problem, and it happened again.
    2.  My Lightroom catalog is actually called Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat, not Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.
    3.  I have never had my system set up to automatically launch Lightroom when my card is plugged in.
    4.  I have not actually downloaded any pictures from a card for about 2 weeks before I did yesterday, so I cannot say for certain whether or not LR 3.5 is the cause of the problem and perhaps something else is.  But the fact is that I did upgrade to LR 3.5 a few days ago.
    5.  Once I close both the AutoPlay window and the LR dialogue window, I can launch LR 3.5 with no problem and import pictures as I normally do.

  • Problems with getting accurate power readings during sweep

Ok, so I have an Agilent N1912A power meter with N1921A power sensors on Ch A & B. I have RF power (from signal generator/ amplifier) going into input of a coupler, then Ch A connected to the coupling  and Ch B connected to the coupler output. I am trying to measure the loss of the coupling (nominally 20 dB)  by just taking the difference in power readings (Ch B- Ch A).  I  have a VI  to read the power from both channels as a signal generator sweeps through different power levels. For the most part it works, except the problem is I am a getting strange "kink" in power reading whenever the power sensor reading is around -10 dBm...see first image attached. Because of this, i get over 0.5 dB change in the coupling loss i am trying to measure, which is unacceptable.
Now with extensive troubleshooting I have ruled out things like amplifier having unstable gain, or faulty sensors. One interesting thing I have noticed - it tends to improve significantly when i change sweepintervals to be much smaller (e.g. 0.1 dB intervals instead of 0.5 dB), which makes me think it is something I'm not setting properly in my VI when I am reading the power from each channel. If i use 0.1 dB intervals the kink is much smaller..resulting in a more stable measurement of coupling loss. See second image attached.
Anyway, wondering if there are any ideas what could be the source of the issue.  As you can see from the images, this always happens at -10 dBm..dont' know what's so special about  -10 dBm  (where's the shrug emoticon?? ) Anyway,  I know can greatly alleviate this problem by always using really small intervals of 0.05 dB or something, but that is just so not practical for my application...(would be too slow). I want to be able to use 0.5 dB intervals and have smooth power readings.

So what are you trying to accomplish here?  I would be more interested in a coupler's response over frequency.  Usually if you're talking about gain/loss over power, you are measuring the characteristics of an amplifier.  (Which I understand you aren't doing, as the DUT is the coupler.)

  • PSE 7.0 Problem with Plug-ins

Hi, I have the same problem as "Fred5222" in his post from Aug. 16, 2009.
I have installed a PSE 7.0 compatible Plug-in from www.alienskin.com, called "Bokeh" but PSE deos not take this Plug-in. That means, that I cannot
find any link to this prgramm in PSE. Normaly the link is to find under the entry "filters" in PSE, but there is nothing to find from "alien skin" or "Bokeh".
Meanwhile I had assistants from the support of alien skin, because they know about an installing problem of this software under PSE 7.0. But also
under consideration of the in this regard specific guidlines I didnt have success. I also tryed to make a link under preadjustments in PSE, but this also failed.
I also tryed other Plug-ins from alien skin, but all of them doent work together with PSE 7.0 although this software is listed under requirements.
What next? I have no more Idea.
    Can you help?

    Hi,
    You can try this.
    1. Launch PSE
    2. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins
    3. In the Additional Path, Provide the path of the Bokeh Plugin
    4. Click OK
    5. Relaunch PSE
I hope, it should work now.
    Thanks,
    Tarun

  • Very odd problem with CS2 on Power Mac G4

My office has 18 identical Power Mac G4s (1Ghz dual processor, 768MB RAM) all running OS X 10.4.9 and Adobe CS2. All except one that is, which for some reason InDesign and Photoshop always quit on startup with unexpected errors, or an unusual error saying that the application is still shutting down so cannot be opened.
I'll skip some of the troubleshooting details, but basically we've tried clean installing the OS on a separate drive and putting CS2 onto the clean install with no optional extras and it makes no difference. We tried swapping hard discs with a machine that was working fine, and the same machine continued to have the same problems while the other machine was fine. We then swapped out RAM, graphic cards, and removed all unnecessary devices and no difference, meaning logically the problem must be with one of the processors or the logic board. We sent the machine off to Apple TWICE and both times it came back with no problems found. Adobe won't help as it must be a hardware problem, and Apple won't help cause they can't find any problems. We offered them money to just exchange the logic board and processors, but they said no.
As a last resort, we tried installing CS1, foolishly assuming that as it was different software it might actually work. It actually worked even less well as Illustrator won't run either.
Does anybody have the faintest idea what the problem might be, and how we could go about fixing it?
    Many thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'd actually joked that the desk might be cursed, but honestly figured that if there was a low voltage problem then it would show up in other ways. The machine's been in use for over 4 years and this is the first time it's ever shown any issues. Even now it's just those 3 applications, and always at start up.
I'll try moving it to a different desk anyway and see if that helps, failing which we may have to bite the bullet and buy a new one, but we've already splashed out on 18 machines worth of OS X licences, CS2, Office, Font Folio etc. so they're not going to give us the money lightly...

  • Screen flicker problem with T420s, from power-on -- before OS loads, even before boot.

I've just bought a new T420s and installed Debian GNU/Linux on it.  Had no screen problems the first few days.
This morning when I turned it on, the screen was flickering -- like it was doing a very slow refresh rate or something.  Extremely noticeable, and quite annoying :-).  Interestingly, the flicker started from the moment the screen came alive, when I turned the power on.  It persists through the boot loader sequence and into the operating system, etc.  I have powered the machine off and back on several times since then, but the flicker is still here.
Now, there is one interesting fact:
The last thing I did, right before the flicker started, was use the laptop with a dock + external monitor.  Not dual monitor, just a single external monitor -- the laptop's lid was down when it was in the dock.  The external monitor worked fine; at one point I opened the laptop's lid just to see what the screen looked like (I was curious because the external monitor's dimensions were very different from the T420s screen dimensions).  The laptop screen had garbage on it -- a kind of distorted, miscolored, and mis-aligned version of my usual operating system desktop.  But that didn't bother me -- I was using the external monitor, and didn't need the laptop screen for anything.  I closed the lid and kept working.
That night I powered it down in the dock.  This morning I packed it up and took it to work.  The first time I powered up, this new flicker was there.
Does it have something to do with the fact that I used it with a dock and/or external monitor?  It seems suspicious that the problem started right after the first time I did that.
By the way, this is a T420s with the stock video card, not the fancier Nvidia card.
Any ideas how to fix this?

    hey kfogel,
    welcome to the forums.
could you remove your Nix and place back the original OS ? I would like to know if the flicker occurs when your unit is on Windows or if it occurs while it is on Debian.
if the flicker doesn't occur when you have windows installed; i would suggest heading over to http://support.lenovo.com and update your whole unit before attempting to use Debian.

  • Problem with plug-ins in Photoshop Elements 10

I imported plug-ins from CS3 to Photoshop Elements 10 plug-ins folder.  Why do othey not show up in Filters in Photoshop Elements 10?

Just as a guess... they are not compatible... you need plugins that are compatible with the program you are using, not something written for a different program
