Problems with running a scipt in SuSE Linux
Hiya,
Need some help please. I'm writing an application in SuSE linux and I'm having trouble porting it over from my SuSE 9.1 Pro desktop - to my SuSE 9.2 laptop.
I'll try and keep it as brief and simple as possible so here goes;
Firstly, everything works perfectly on my desktop which is running SuSE 9.1 Pro (which the program was written in)
The problem is running the exact same code on my laptop which is running SuSE 9.2 Pro.
The line of code that is causing me the problem is this:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("bash -c /home/bryan/.annwn/scripts/annwnCommand.gmt");As you can see, all I'm trying to do is run a simple script (that will execute a bunch of commands and create an image.)
Now, this code works perfectly when run on my desktop - but will not run on my laptop.
When I try to run the code with my program on my laptop, nothing happens. However, if I run this on the command line:
bash -c /home/bryan/.annwn/scripts/annwnCommand.gmtThe script is run - It works pefectly. It also works on the command line if I just do:
/home/bryan/.annwn/scripts/annwnCommand.gmtThe only difference in my development environment is SuSE 9.2 over SuSE 9.1 - but I cannot see how this would affect this command not running from within my application.
So, can you see any reason at all why the command would work perfectly on SuSE 9.1 (and through my application), and perfectly on the command line of SuSE 9.2 - but not when run through my application?
I know it's a long shot, and it's a pretty vague problem - but if you can think of anything. I'd be very, very grateful.
Hope this makes sense!
Many thanks!
Thanks.
I'm running both applications as the same user. All other aspects of the application and code work perfectly - just running that script using the Runtime method.
Basically, everything is exactly the same between to the two machines - only the difference in OS version.
I'm guessing that it well may be a Linux problem, sorry if this is the wrong forum. I'm just at a complete loss with this!

Problems with sun studio 12 in suse linux 11
Hi.
I installed Sun Studio 12 suse linux with no problems. However, the debugging modules (DBX) are not working any more. When I started Sun Studio, it gave a message about modules that could not be loaded in tha moment. I did not pay attention. But I noticed that all debugging options were disabled.
Using the module manager, I saw the DBX module was not checked, and I could not change it. I was marked with a red X. So I thought to reinstall the application. However, the uninstall utility doesn't work either.
According with the documentation, running ./uninstaller does it, but I get the following error message instead
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12/class
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class
at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)

at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:276)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319)
I tried to uninstall manually, and then execute installer, by using first the software manager in linux and deleting the producregistry file manually. It worked because I executed the installer. However, in Sun Studio IDE, debugging options are still not available despite I "reinstalled" the application. I checked the log files and they say the file uninstall_Sun_Studio_12.class could not be written.
So my questions are:
1. Is there any other way to repair Sun Studio? What could be the possible for this module to stop working?
2. Does anyone have an idea of why the installer cannot write the uninstaller class?
I found that perhaps problems regarding Java / Netbeans versions could be the problem, but the ones I have installed are those packages that were installed along with Sun Studio, and both are valid.
Thank you very much.Perhaps you can simply delete the Sun Studio 12 installation tree, because it will not work on SUSE Linux 11.
This OS is not supported, so any problems you see with SS12 on SUSE 11 will not be fixed.
But we have a newer version, that should work better.
You can try to download and install Sun Studio Express 2008/11 (extract pre-installed image from tar.bz2 file).
Here is a pointer to the web page:
http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express
All you need is to provide a email address, and press "Download Now" button.
You will see a page, that gives you 2 options to download Sun Studio Express 2008/11.
Use "Option 2": Download Tarfile Installer

Problem with installing Oracle 10g on Suse Linux
Hi everybody!
I downloaded Oracle 10g Express from this url:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html
it is free version for developers.
I copied it into computer where was installed Suse Linux Enterprise Edition.
But when I run it shows this kind of error:
error: rpmReadSignature failed: region failed: BAD, tag 15872 type 2047 offset 20480 count 4096
error: oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed
It was downloaded without any problem. But checksum is different from that shown on website. I think this is the problem.
What is the problem? Does anybody know answer?
Regards,
Seti's fictionYes, you appear to have a bad copy.
I have not had a problem when the check sum matched. Therefore I encourage you to download again. -

I have a problem with running an EXE file on win2000, the Lab View is 5.1 and I do not know if it is 16 bit...what should I do?
Hi Arika,
The drivers that you need to install to make your executable work depends on what your executable is doing. To get started, you need to have the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine installed on your target machine (the Win2000 machine you are planning to use) in order to run your executable. Next, you need to determine what drivers your executable uses, if any. For example, if you are using GPIB instrument control, you will need to install the NI-488 drivers on your target machine. If you are performing data acquisition, you will need to install NI-DAQ drivers. If you are doing image acquistion, you will need to install NI-IMAQ drivers.
All these drivers are available for downloading on ni.com. To get the drivers, go to ht
tp://www.ni.com/support , click on the link that takes you to Drivers and Updates (under Option 3), and click on the links to get to the driver(s) you need. For example, if you need the LabVIEW 5.1.1 Run-Time engine, click on the All Drivers and Updates by Application link on the main page (http://www.ni.com/softlib.nsf/). Then click on the LabVIEW link, Windows 2000, Run Time Engine, and then you will see the link to get to the page to download the LabVIEW 5.1.1 Run-Time Engine.
I hope this information helps.

Can u solve the below doubt.
Will renameTo method wont work in Linux? If so why?Did you not read what I said? I suspect you are trying to rename a file so that it actually has to be moved to a different volume (partition or hard disk) so it won't work. One would have the same problem on Windows trying to rename a file on the c: drive to a name on the d: drive.

Can u give a sample or good link to do the above work which works fine in all environments.?Just follow the pseudo code I gave. 15 minutes work. -
I ve a problem with running the javabeans
dear all
i ve a problem with running javabean in forms 9i all codes, program units are correct. i think there is something with classpath which i dont where to put the path of bean jar files. however the simple code for the Colorpicker and keyFilter dont work when clicking the button to fire the trigger to bring the bean up.
thank you
Walaa eddienWalaa,
Make sure you've entered the implementation class (do not append the class extension). For example, if you have a class example.class in the package otn.oracle.forum, the implementation class should be: otn.oracle.forum.example
Make sure you place the containing java archive in <OH>/forms90/java and do not forget to update the configuration section (default or app specific) parameter archive_jini accordingly.

Problem with runas command. Elevation error
Running on Win 8.1 Pro I'm facing a problem with runas.
What I'm trying to do is launch an mmc as my domain admin account.
Therefore I type this command from an elevated cmd (Right-click "Run as Administrator"):
runas /user:Contoso\MyDomainAdmin /noprofile mmc
This worked like a charm in Windows 7, and on my Win81Pro client it yields:
RUNAS ERROR: Unable to run - mmc
740: The requested operation requires elevation.
The account I'm logged in with, is local admin, and the UAC slider is set in the bottom.
In the eventviewer, I only see some special logons where my normal account is trying to impersonate my domain admin account, and the next event, the domain admin's session is destroyed.
If this is by design, how would I then run mmc as my domain admin and at the same time avoid its credentials being stored on the local machine?
Thanks in advance!yes, you need to be local admin to be able to elevate!
I've tested this on a system here and I reproduce the issue you encountered. Some investigation showed running a program that requires elevation using runas is not possible http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb756922.aspx

Problems with running jar on linux
Are there any known problems when running jar files on linux, that were compiled on windows?
http://turkeybot.info/DuckHunt.jar
The images directory that is in that refuses to load under linux, but there's no problem with windows (it's using System.getProperty("file.separator") to get hte correct file separtor to refer to the image directory).Java code should run in all JVMs. But if you did something Windows-specific (such as looking for a file named C:/something/or/other) in your code then you can't expect it to run in other environments.

Problems with running reports having parameters, on the web
Dear all,
I have recently installed Oracle 9iAS v1.0.2.2.1 on Suse linux 7.3. Also, installed
Forms and Reports 6i alongwith it.
Building and running reports both static and ones that accept parameters was a breeze.
I could also run reports from the web successfully until now when I am trying to run a
report that accepts parameters.
When I enter the following URL:
http://<webserver>/cgi-bin/rwcgi60?report=<some.rdf >userid=<user/passwd@db>
server=<reportservername>destype=cachedesformat=html+paramform=yes
This is what happens:
1. I am prompted for a parameter value in the html format
2. On entering a suitable value, I am prompted for information to connect to the
database viz. username, password and database name
3. Entering suitable values for the above results in a hung state. There is no output and
the busy signal is all that I get for a long long time.
4. Also, stopping this session results in other such sessions resulting in a hung state, too.
That is to say, if I had run a report throug the web successfully before trying this
one, after aborting this session, I cannot re-run the previous successful report. That
too results in a hung state. I have to restart the reports server rwmts60 once again
as well as the web server for things to work smoothly.
I tried recreating the cgi env and ran a strace on the rwcgi60 command. It produces
an error saying 'libzrc60.so.0: no such file or directory' where as it is very much
present in the default LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This could be misleading as I am not sure
how I correct I was in re-creating the CGI env.
This is a problem I face only when I enter the "paramform=yes" option in the URL.
Also, excuse me for my ignorance , but I have no idea how to interpret the cgicmd.dat file.
It does mention that %P, %PT, %PC are amongst the currently recognised special
parameters, though.
Will someone please help me out asap as this is quite urgent.
Thanks a million in advance
HemaHi Hema,
There could be various things that explain this, but from your symptoms it looks like the engine is hung processing this report. This could be as simple as a PL/SQL trigger that is in an infinite loop. Anyway, a simple thing to do is to add TRACEFILE=filename&TRACEMODE=append&TRACEOPTS=TRACE_ALL onto your URL. This will create the specified file and dump information into it about what Reports is doing as it is processing your report. If it is hung in an infinite loop, you should be able to see how far it got when you kill it.
Also, you can see the status of the reports job queue by using the http://.../rwcgi60?showjobs command. If the report is executing forever, you'll see it sitting there in the job queue.

Problem with running multiple servlet in same webapplication with tomcat 3
Hi all,
I am using Tomcat 3.0 as webserver with jdk1.3, Servlet 2.0,
Templates for html file and oracle 8i on UNIX platform.
I have problem with multiple servlet running same webapplication.
There are two servlet used in my application. 1) GenServlet.class
and 2) ServletForPrinting.class
All of my pages go through GenServlet.class which reads some property files
and add header and footer in all pages.
I want reports without header & footer that is not possible through GenServlet in my application.
So I have used another servlet called ServletForPrinting --- just for reading html file.
It is as follow:
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class ServletForPrinting extends HttpServlet {
public void service (HttpServletRequest request,
HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
// set content-type header before accessing the Writer
response.setContentType("text/html");
PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
File f1 = null;
String report = null;
String path = request.getPathInfo();
try{
String p = "/var/home/latif/proj/webapps/WEB-INF/classes" + path;
System.out.println(p);
f1 = new File(p);
p = null;
if (f1.exists()) {
FileReader fr = new FileReader(f1);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
report = new String();
while ((report = br.readLine()) != null) {
out.println(report);
}catch(Exception e) {
out.close();
report = null;
path = null;
f1 = null;
} // end class
It works fine and display report properly.
But now Problem is that if report is refreshed many times subsequently,
WebServer will not take any new change in any of java file used in web-application.
It works with the previous class only and not with updated one.
Then I need to touch it. As soon as I touch it, webserver will take updated class file.
Anybody has any idea regarding these situation?
Is there any bug in my ServletForPrinting.java ?
Any solution ????? Please suggest me.
Suggestion from all are invited. That will help me a lot.
Thanks in advance

I solved the problem, I just had to wire the blocks in a sequential way (I still don't know why, but it works).

I would strongly suggest at least reading this tutorial to give you an idea of why your fix worked (or maybe only appeared to work). Myself, I never just throw up my hands and say, "Whatever," and wash my hands of the situation without trying my best to understand just what fixed it. Guranteed you'll run into the same/similar problem and this time your fix won't work.
Please do yourself a favor and try to understand why it is working now, and save yourself (or more likely, the next poor dev to work on this project) some heartache.
