Problems with sockets and hex code

When i try to send 0x9d on socket, it send 0x3f. Why?

It always send 0x3f.

It always send 0x3f.My guess is 0x3f is a question mark, and since you're using PrintWriter which is geared for printing "strings" and the character 0x9d is not in the selected (default, since you didn't specify one) character encoding, it turns it into a question mark.
Solution: Don't use PrintWriter for sending binary data.

  • Problem with socket and Threads

    Hi,
    I have coded a package that sends an sms via a gateway.
    Here is what is happening:
    * I create a singleton of my SMSModule.
    * I create an sms object.
    * I put the object in a Queue.
    * I start a new Thread in my sms module that reads sms from queue.
    * I connect to sms gateway.
    * I send the sms.
    * I disconnect from socket! This is where things go wrong and I get the following error (see below).
    I have a zip file with the code so if you have time to take a look at it I would appreciate it.

    Off the top of my head, probably the garbage collector cleared your SMSModule coz all classes loaded through other classloaders will be unloaded when that classloader is unloaded.

    The problem I have is the following: My domain has a dynamic IP, so after the IP changes the s.accept() does not work any more!

    Something is vary wrong with your network software if your getting an error on that.
    When you start your computer connected to the network, a DHCP (in your case) Server sends your NIC a dynamic IP address, we call this process "binding". When the client computer connects it also is given an IP address to bind to. You can't connect to anything, or in your case create a ServerSocket, if you dont even have an IP. So your Server has an IP address, and so does the client. You should not be getting any errors unless the client/server network is using two different protocols. You can't run an IPX/SPX network and a TCP/IP network together without a Bridge.
    That does not seem to be your problem. I believe, then, that the problem is that your ThreadedEchoHandler is holding the CPU. Instead of having a client connect (s.accept()) outside of that thread. Have the thread be created by using the arugment of the ServerSocket instead and no the Socket object created.

    Then let it do it's thing. Also, you will need to call it's start() method to actually run the thread as a thread. Otherwise it runs as a simple class.

  • Problem with socket and Flash

    I have a chat application where the client is written in Flash 9 and it connects an XMLSocket to my java server.
    Those that know Flash 9 know that it first makes a policy file request and all you have to do is provide a small chunk of xml stating the desired port and domain.
    To get a better understanding I adding some thread tracking to the server app. Now when I run the following:

    The second case does appear to be a threading issue.....but what bothers me the most is why I get nothing from flash when I readLine first. This doesn't seem to be an issue with anyone else and I've seen many examples (though almost all were written in PHP) that are exactly the same. Read first...look for the policy request...then reply accordingly.
    This is a small chat application running on Tomcat 5.5.
    It worked well back when I ran it with Flash 8 but since I upgraded to Flash 9 (had to...no other way around) I now have to deal with this policy issue (apparently it pissed off quite a few developers).

    This transported issue started coming after power outage, sap system went hard shutdown.
    Then we brought up the system. Before that , we do not have this transport issue.

    DEV is having the TMS domain controller.
    FYI:
    *At OS level, when we do scp command using root user, it is fine for any TR.
    In STMS, while adding TR in SEQ(QA system), we  are getting error like this.

  • Problem with JFrame and busy/wait Cursor

    Hi -- I'm trying to set a JFrame's cursor to be the busy cursor,
    for the duration of some operation (usually just a few seconds).
    I can get it to work in some situations, but not others.
    Timing does seem to be an issue.
    There are thousands of posts on the BugParade, but
    in general Sun indicates this is not a bug. I just need
    a work-around.
    I've written a test program below to demonstrate the problem.
    I have the problem on Solaris, running with both J2SE 1.3 and 1.4.
    I have not tested on Windows yet.
    When you run the following code, three JFrames will be opened,
    each with the same 5 buttons. The first "F1" listens to its own
    buttons, and works fine. The other two (F2 and F3) listen
    to each other's buttons.
    The "BUSY" button simply sets the cursor on its listener
    to the busy cursor. The "DONE" button sets it to the
    default cursor. These work fine.
    The "SLEEP" button sets the cursor, sleeps for 3 seconds,
    and sets it back. This does not work.
    The "INVOKE LATER" button does the same thing,
    except is uses invokeLater to sleep and set the
    cursor back. This also does not work.
    The "DELAY" button sleeps for 3 seconds (giving you
    time to move the mouse into the other (listerner's)
    window, and then it behaves just like the "SLEEP"
    button. This works.

    I've had the same problems with cursors and repaints in a swing application, and I was thinking of if I could use invokeLater, but I never got that far with it.
    I still believe you would need a thread for the time consuming task, and that invokeLater is something you only need to use in a thread different from the event thread.

    3: Generated a XSD file from ECS file( File --> export---> Oracle B2B) in document ediotr
    4. We imported a ECS and XSD file in B2B console( documents---docdef-transaction set ECS file) and XSD File
    5. We tested one file from manually we face below error:

  • Problem with axis2 and Tomcat

    I am having a strange problem with Tomcat and axis. I have a webservice that uses axis2 for wsdl2java class generation. When I compile my project in maven a Test is performed. During the test a glassfish server is established and the project is deployed -everything work great with the expected results. However when I try to deploy the webservice on tomcat it has some problems.
    At first I tried to call axis code in a POST method that takes a MultiPart message. The code is as below:

    It was strange to me since this simple approach of handling a Multipart method worked for me earlier. Then I decided skip the handling of multipart method and just call the axis code. But the results also caused an error. I then tried to call the axis code in a simple @GET method (to cross out any issues regarding the multipart) and the result where the same. Again everything works on the maven- glassfish test. In this case the tomcat error is the following:

  • Problem with JTextPane and StateInvariantError

    Hi. I am having a problem with JTextPanes and changing only certain text to bold. I am writing a chat program and would like to allow users to make certain text in their entries bold. The best way I can think of to do this is to add <b> and </b> tags to the beginning and end of any text that is to be bold. When the other client receives the message, the program will take out all of the <b> and </b> tags and display any text between them as bold (or italic with <i> and </i>). I've searched the forums a lot and figured out several ways to make the text bold, and several ways to determine which text is bold before sending the text, but none that work together. Currently, I add the bold tags with this code: (note: messageDoc is a StyledDocument and messageText is a JTextPane)

    Can't tell from you code what the problem is because I don't know the context of how each method is invoked. But it would seem like you are trying to query the data in the Document while the Document is being updated. Try wrapping the getMessageText() method is a SwingUtilities.invokeLater().
    There is no need to write custom code for a Bold Action you can just use:
    JButton bold = new JButton( new StyledEditorKit.BoldAction() );Also your code to build the text String is not very efficient. You should not be using string concatenation to append text to the string. You should be using a StringBuffer or StringBuilder.

  • Problem with writing and reading using serialization

    I am having a problem with writing and reading an object that has another object in it. The purpose of the class is to write a order that has multiple items in it. And there will be several orders. This is for an IB project, where one of the requirements is to utilize a hierarchical composite data structure. That is, it is "one that contains more than one element and at least one of the elements is a composite data structure.     ok i got reading to work to a certain extent... but the prob is i cnt seem to save my innerCustOrdObj proprly...when ever i look for a record using the gotorecordbtn, the outerobject, which is the orderDetails, seems to change but the innerCustOrdObj remains the same... heres the new code..

  • [SOLVED] Problem with netctl and dhcpcd

    Hi everybody,
    I had a problem with netctl and dhcpcd.
    I was using netctl and wifi-menu to connect to wirelless networks with dhcp.
    It worked fine at home, then i went to a friend where it also worked but then i went back home and it failed at every try with those error messages:

    dhcpcd[2718]: wlp9s0: rebinding lease of 192.168.1.154
    dhcpcd[2718]: wlp9s0: reject NAK via 192.168.178.1
    dhcpcd[2718]: wlp9s0: soliciting a DHCP lease
    dhcpcd[2718]: wlp9s0: offered 192.168.178.44 from 192.168.178.1
    dhcpcd[2718]: timed out
    network[2659]: DHCP IP lease attempt failed on interface 'wlp9s0'
    systemd[1]: netctl@wlp9s0\xxx.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
    systemd[1]: Failed to start Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu.
    systemd[1]: Unit [email protected] entered failed state.
    I figured that dhcpcd tried to rebind an ip that my router rejected and didn't accept the ip that it offered instead.
    The solution was to delete:
    /var/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-wlp9s0.lease
    now how can i configure netctl and or dhcpcd so that won't happen again and that it accepts all ips offered by routers?

    I've had this happen now and again. You can rebind the lease yourself with:
    $ dhcpcd --rebind
    You could also try increasing the timeout by adding
    TimeoutDHCP=
    to your netctl profile/s - see netctl.profile(5) as WonderWoofy suggests. Although I haven't tried the latter.

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :

    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate

    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.
