Problems with starting jstart.EXE (help for/from anyone needed!)

Dear all,
the last days I have spent some time trying to install CE7.1 and also CE711 EHP1. The installation itself worked great: no errors were reported during intallation. But somehow the instance CE1 never starts up completely. As I have found out, and so do many many many others, the problem lies in starting "jstart.EXE" (Please check your SAP Management Console: CE1 => matrix 0 => Process List).
The following behaviours I have monitored:
1. When trying to start the CE1 instance jstart.EXE tries to start but stops after a while. So the J2EE Server is not started. This behaviour is monitored and reported by many posts here at SDN, but it seems that "final" solution has been posted, which is valid for anyone. At least non of the hints could help me.
2. I have monitored that the status of jstart.EXE seems to hang at status "Starting the processes" (I have waited more than 25 minutes).
To all the experienced and anyone else:
PLEASE post all you hints here! This issues seems to be a very common issue and is not really solved. Other posts did not help me so far.
In my case (case 2 from above) I can provide the following information:
Today (December 3rd, 2008) I have installed CE7.1_SR5. Hardware requirements are fullfilled by 100%.
I have to mention that I have installed some old CE or NW J2EE version on the same system like about one year ago, and I uninstalled it after only one week.
Maybe what the jstart.EXE problems are somehow related to the license: does the "uninstallation" leave some data back in the system, which could be used by later installs in order to check the license (wich is only a 90 day license)?
Who can help?
What is your experience with jstart.EXE?
Any help is very welcome. I am sure not only for me!
Thanks,
Pars

Hi,
OK, if jstart in the "Process List" has status status "Starting processes" I guess what you have to monitor is the "AS Java Process Table". It should show which processes are being started at the moment.
If I remember correctly the first in this list are offline deployment/bootstrap (which need to run to prepare the instance after updates). After that two processes should be started: the icm and server0 (if you have created more nodes there might be more serverX processes).
So which one really fails? If it runs for long time and then goes down I suspect it might be server0 (that's the actual java server process). In this case you'll want to check for errors in <drive>/usr/sap/<SID>/JXX/work/_server0. files or the default trace.
Another way to determine what goes wrong might be to check the <drive>/usr/sap/<SID>/JXX/work directory. If you sort traces by date you'll probably get some idea. dev_<process> are the jstart output, the std_<process> is the actual stdout of the process, if the process failed probably the std file contains some more information on why it happened.
If you cannot find the problem is there a way to share the last files from the work directory. If it's a common problem we must identify and add it to the TS guide ...
Best regards, dido

  • Problem with start up. please help.

hi. i have recently had trouble with my powerbook g4 in that it wont startup. it goes to the main blue screen and wont go any further. i ran a couple of things and it worked again then it froze after a while and did the same thing. i have run the disk utility as it says in the support page but it has only been able to repair one of the two volumes it tried to repair. it says that 1 volume could not be repaired.
it still will not start up but now comes up with the loading page saying "starting mac os x" but goes no further. how can this be fixed?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you

    1. You wrote: " i have been told by someone that there is an option when reinstalling os x to keep the files on the drive. if i was to do this without having to purchase a third party disc utility program would this help>?"You've obviously asked someone who either:• Was not given a full description of the problem by you.
    • Doesn't know the first thing about Mac OS X and should not be giving advice. The option is an Installation option called "Archive and Install." However, you already have a corrupted drive directory, meaning anything you write to the drive via Archive and Install could potentially overwrite real data. So, you might be able to reinstall the OS via Archive and Install but then find that:
    • You can't log in to your account.
    • Your e-mail, pictures, music, etc.  — or many items therein — are corrupted, missing, or gone.
Performing an Archive and Install on a corrupted drive won't fix the drive corruption and carries a high risk that your personal data may be damaged or lost. The Archive and Install itself may fail.
One should never perform an Archive and Install on a corrupted drive and check that the drive is free of directory corruption before proceeding with an Archive and Install: see Step 2 of the Procedure specified in my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ.
    2. You wrote: "sorry to keep asking"I am too. I've advised you as to what you need to do, and the potential risks associated with such. It's up to you now to make a decision and move forward. If you don't trust my advice, then you're free to make that choice. I've done all I can for you.
    Good luck!

I had already update mi new factory unlocked iPhone 4S to iOS 5.1.1 and I still having problems with "invalid sim". I'm from Argentina and here we don't have official service. PLEASE HELP ME, WHAT CAN I DO??? In Argentina is too expensive an iPhone 4S. Please I need help to continue believing in Apple. Thanks a lot. If anybody speak spanish better.

Was it purchased from an official Apple Store, not a reseller?  Only Apple Stores sell official factory unlocked phones.  The others sell hacked to unlock phones, and the unlocking is unstable.
    Try these steps, as needed:
    1. Reset phone - press both home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    3. Replace SIM card (and reset network settings again)
    4. Restore Phone in iTunes using a backup
    5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup

Can anyone help me back up my phone from iCloud. It is saying there is a problem with my data

    Hey Shopaholic1181,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
iCloud: Understanding alert messages when restoring from an iCloud Backup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4585
"Your iPhone cannot be restored because there is a problem with your backup data. Choose a different backup to restore from."
Your backup does not appear to be usable. If you receive this alert, you should check the iCloud System Status at the iCloud Support website to make sure there are not any issues occurring with iCloud Backup. If there is not a widespread issue notated on the iCloud System Status, the error may self-resolve if you wait several minutes and try again. If issues persist, you should contact iCloud Support via the iCloud Support website.
    Have a nice day,

  • My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

I have a problem with running an EXE file on win2000, the Lab View is 5.1 and I do not know if it is 16 bit...what should I do?

    Hi Arika,
The drivers that you need to install to make your executable work depends on what your executable is doing. To get started, you need to have the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine installed on your target machine (the Win2000 machine you are planning to use) in order to run your executable. Next, you need to determine what drivers your executable uses, if any. For example, if you are using GPIB instrument control, you will need to install the NI-488 drivers on your target machine. If you are performing data acquisition, you will need to install NI-DAQ drivers. If you are doing image acquistion, you will need to install NI-IMAQ drivers.
All these drivers are available for downloading on ni.com. To get the drivers, go to ht
tp://www.ni.com/support , click on the link that takes you to Drivers and Updates (under Option 3), and click on the links to get to the driver(s) you need. For example, if you need the LabVIEW 5.1.1 Run-Time engine, click on the All Drivers and Updates by Application link on the main page (http://www.ni.com/softlib.nsf/). Then click on the LabVIEW link, Windows 2000, Run Time Engine, and then you will see the link to get to the page to download the LabVIEW 5.1.1 Run-Time Engine.
    I hope this information helps.

  • Problem with starting more than one SwingWorker

    Hello
I wonder if anyone could tell me if there are known problems with starting more than one SwingWorker thread at once?
In response to an action the user performs, I need to obtain several lists of things from the server. This includes a couple of server-calls, and I want to do the server calls in a thread outside the awt-event thread. So I start a couple of SwingWorker-threads. This works fine sometimes, but not always. Sometimes code in some of the SwingWorkers finished method does not update the ui. I can see that the correct calls are made, but the ui is still not updated correctly. The problem seems to be related to the sequence of when the different thread are finished. For instance, if the sequence is like this:
    SwingWorker1.construct
    SwingWorker2.construct
    SwingWorker1.finished
    SwingWorker2.finished
Things go fine, but if the sequence is:
    SwingWorker1.construct
    SwingWorker1.finished
    SwingWorker2.construct
    SwingWorker2.finished
the ui-updates in SwingWorker1.finished is not done correctly.
Can anyone help me with this?

    This is the point:
In one SwingWorker thread you have 1 construct method, and 1 finish method - which are both invoked once.
Therefore you only have one opportunity to update the gui in that thread. This forces you to use many threads if you want regular updates, which I try to avoid.
    Therefore, the solution!
Have a loop in the construct method that executes the algorithm accordingly, updating the gui accordingly at regular times, maintaining just the 1 thread - becomes easier and nicer for the programmer and the JVM.
The finish method in this case is to update the gui when all iterations are finished.
There is nothing wrong with this. Just because you have a finish method that is called in the event-dispatching thread doesn't mean that all your update code must be in there.
What you MUST ensure is that ALL your update code is executed in the event-dispatching thread, that is the most important thing. After all, SwingWorker is just a helper class, not the gospel template of how to update a gui.

  • Can't start jstart.exe anymore

    Hello,
I installed the SAP NW Composition Enviroment 7.1 Trial Verions SP1 Preview. Installation worked fine and everything in the sapmmc was green. The first WebDynpro tutorial deployment also worked fine. Today I had to restart my machine and after that I wasn`t able to start jstart.exe, anymore. Everything else starts without problems. i had problem with my apps, they open for a while and closes with in seconds i cant acess them and i had this with all apss, expect apple apps

Do you have a lot of apps? Did you use a lot of apps recently? If so, many of them may still be resident in memory even if you aren't currently using them. Double-tap the home key and you should see the app tray with a list of most recently used programs. Press and hold the icons in the tray and remove the ones you don't use often to remove them from memory. Powering off and then back on might also help.
My wife's iPod does that sometimes, and it's usually because we run out of memory due to apps remaining in memory even when not used. The suggestion above is how we normally fix the problems.

    I stopped then the agent and started it by typing;
    d:\oracle\ora92\bin\agntsrvc.exe
    Than i get the error:
    StartServiceCtrlDispatcher Failed with err 1063
    Anyone an idea?
